    At the end Britney saying that she will add some BTS songs to her Spotify playlist even though she doesn’t understand Korean, that’s exactly how BTS became popular, most of the ARMY’s didn’t understand their language, but they felt BTS’ sincerity and genuineness through their music, they talked about subjects like mental health, depression, harsh educational system and etc. Their hard work is reflected in the songs. All these things together broke the language barrier 💜

    BTS set the bar for fan treatment, even in Kpop. After they won the 2017 BBMAs award for Top Social Artist, the kpop industry crapped itself and either started or reactivated social media accounts for all their artists. The idea that these "nobodies" got an American award was unheard of.
    Specifically, the "Big Three" companies of kpop reacted this way -- these three had a stranglehold on the media in South Korea (and other Asian countries) and used clout and money to push their artists to the top in the East.
    Because BTS were cut from broadcasts and mistreated, they relied on social platforms to reach their audience, which inadvertently allowed them to break in to the West and go global.
    This was something that was previously thought undoable. No kpop act had even tried to do this after Psy's brief success (and unfortunate one-hit-wonder status) in 2012 with Gangnam Style.
    By the time BTS came along, the road to the West had been officially closed and kpop was considered a comedic niche market in the the US.
    Not only did they set the standard for fan treatment and interaction, they also set the standard on artist treatment.
    It is widely known that the kpop industry is a machine that turns out and tosses aside their artists. There are "slave contracts," mistreatment, starvation, and all sorts of terrible practices that are common knowledge.
    When artists saw the freedoms and respect that a globally successful group like BTS received from their company (a standard that their company set from the start) they also started expecting better treatment. With a global spotlight on the matter, the abusive practices were put under a spotlight. These days, those companies are backpedaling on the defensive pretty much all the time.
    BTS truly are the dark horses that turned the kpop industry on its ear.

      @@brittanyvaldez7609 if you love contemporary, their song Black Swan is one you'd probably really like. Visually, it showcases Jimin's contemporary background well. The song was mainly written by RM, it's a deep song and written based off a famous quote by dancer Martha Graham (the "a dancer dies twice" quote). The film Black Swan with Natalie Portman also served as inspiration for him when writing the song. Highly recommend watching the music vid + dance practice vid together.
      Just fyi, nearly every music video of theirs has a corresponding dance practice video - the purpose of those is to show the choreography more clearly, without cuts or fancy camera work. Gives you a whole different feeling for the song to see the whole choreo. Definitely a better experience to watch the music vid and dance practice vid back-to-back.

    This video is the best! She put alot of effort in to it! But I just want to point out that she forgot to mention that RM's 148 IQ is genius level but Jimin and Jungkook both have an IQ of 128 which is pretty high too. We don't know about the IQ of all the members. She said that Jungkook is good in everything but Jin also is good in almost every sports, he also can play the piano and guitar! And even tho it's "accurate as of May 2022" It's still not updated because with BTS you basically can't have an updated version for a long time. If you want an accurate update of BTS you would have to add another 5 Minutes every other week because they are working so much that they achieve something new every other week. For example as of May till now, they again released multiple solo albums, other projects, won many awards and broke records. And if you want detailed videos about each member it would have been a 1 hour video for every single one (probally longer LOL)
    Update: as of Dec 2022, BTS hold the record of the 4th most awarded artist in the world with 1000+ awards. But awards and first places are stolen from them. I urge you to watch/react to the information videos by Boracity Magazine if you have time:
    BTS vs radio
    BTS vs Spotify
    BTS vs attendance award shows
    BTS vs boybands coming back
    Why the music industry is terrified of bts
    why the boyband "hiatus" doesn't apply to bts
    Why most Armys don't like Kpop
    "the next bts:" why they fail every time.
    bts paved the way, why is it so hard to accept it?

    BTS is a 7 member group who is now in their 10th year with a 350+ track discography largely written and produced by the members themselves conjoined by their inhouse producers. The leader 'RM' has 210+ credits making him the youngest most credited artist in Korea and the rest of the members are not far behind. BTS is known for being extremely profound at articulating what they introspect and composing it into the sound they with their artistic knowledge believe will deliver the emotion of their lyricsm. They began with their roots in hiphop but have experimented their way into currently having above 10+ genres in their discography with the main being hiphop, pop, r&b and electronic, but majority of the time its a fusion of these genres, or their subgenres. Like latin pop, old school hiphop with boom bap, rap rock, dance pop, ballads, emo hiphop, jazz etc. Since they articulate so well, their music is very human oriented adressing extreme mental health issues (all they way from comforting, motivating, to eery delivery with raw mvs that youtube asks for viewers discretion), sociopolitical commentary etc. Their discography shows the growth from school boys to the tribulations of youth, to addressing temptation, to reaching maturity, to loving onself, to finding the core essence of the mind (i work in the field of psychology and i have yet to find an artist that is as profound as bts in accurately potraying psychological themes) to fighting the pandemic to now doing solo albums as each of the bts members complete their mandatory military. They will come back as a group in 2025!

The journey down the BTS rabbit hole is vast and a long one because they worked REALLY hard to get to where they are today. Their dedication to their work and their fanbase is truly inspiring and motivational. Our love for them goes beyond their music, it stems more from who they are and what they represent to us ARMY personally, both as a group and individuals. To us, they are seven AMAZING individuals who has blessed, saved, and impacted our lives in our current time and space for real. To a lot of us, this is not a passing fad but a lifelong connection and love. BTS and ARMY is a family. We love and support each other with a common goal and dedication, to change, share and make this world a better place than when we found it, even if it's just a little bit. The fan who told you Suga HAD to change his name for solo edgy, not in BTS's image works may be giving you a fan made opinion. RM on his first mixtape had many nasty, expletive laden works and he did not have to change his Rap Monster name. The 2013 and 2014 Cyphers which were on BTS albums were anything but clean Idol works. I think Suga wanted the separation having a second name provides so he can express very personal things such as in The Last or What Do You Think? In fact I can recall the Big Hit Chairman Bang Si Hyuk pulling RM aside and telling him to stop holding back and speak his mind. So had? I don't know about that, and I am sure that fan may not know for sure either.

    “They are very close with their fans” oh you have no idea. When their label was too broke and too small to protect them, they suffered many traumatic events including attacks of extreme hatred, false accusations that got them to court, sabotage attempts from other labels & more. The members themselves recall those years as “hell” that “they don’t even want to think about”, despite it should have been the happiest years for them. And they seen only armys, fighting desperately to protect them. It’s one of the reasons BTS and armys are so close, why armys are so protective of them, why they do everything with the thought of armys first. That bond was forged in hell.

    15:00 Bang PD was impressed by him and signed him on the spot. The group was formed around him, but since they kept finding more and more talent they rebranded what was going to be strictly a hip hop group into an idol group. The first to arrive in 2010 were RM, SUGA and J-Hope (who signed first into the agency, having such spectacular resume, but not for a specific project so not first as Bangtan).

I love seeing others start to understand just why BTS are so loved, and why they're such a phenomenon... that they're not just some shallow 'boy band' built on pretty looks and flashy lowest-common-denominator mass appeal, but on being authentic and real, always striving as artists and developing themselves. They can't be replicated -- because their fans genuinely love them as people above everything else. They've always approached fame and success as something they have to earn, through honest and persistent work.
    It's incredible that one group has all this talent and heart, that they had such an inspiring underdogs-to-industry kings back story, that they love each other like family (they themselves feel like they were destined to be together) and that each one of them is so darn lovable and endearing. It's also a beautiful thing to see how they balance each other's relative strengths and weaknesses. There's just something extra special about these seven human beings.

    I have been a dedicated fan of BTS since their inception, and it has been an incredible journey to witness their growth. It is truly astonishing to fathom their immense success and global impact. One significant factor that sets BTS apart and contributes to their legendary status is their remarkable humility. This humble nature has played a vital role in shaping their trajectory. The reason I remain an ardent fan to this day is because of their wholesome character. Despite their extraordinary talent, they remain grounded and genuine, which is something I admire greatly. I have come across numerous other groups and artists who may possess exceptional talent, but their lack of character makes it difficult for me to support them wholeheartedly.

    I found BTS when my mental state was really down. The songs they create are unlike most idols or artists who only discuss love for others, their songs teach us to appreciate ourselves, understand ourselves, accept ourselves and love ourselves because if we want to be happy with people around us, We have to be happy first. When we're motivated by positive things, we'll also give ourselves positive energy to people around us. For haters, just look at one positive thing about BTS and the army and you'll see another positive thing. "BORAHAE" And my bias is Suga or Agust D, the story of his life struggling with depression really inspires me that I can rise just like his even though the bitter memory is unlikely to disappear.

    To Commenters: as a new fan i have only heard about k-pop fan toxicity, but never have seen it in action until the heated replies in this thread. As RM says. Do you! The message of this song is to not try to categorize him (or BTS) or do it to yourselves. As individuals, we can all choose for ourselves what we like and what we believe so as to whether BTS are k-pop or not or whether other k-pop bands are better, or if you listen to only BTS or also listen other groups, that comes down to personal preference. Do you and don't worry about what someone else says or does. If you want to bicker, then do it with FACTS not opinions. Whether BTS os the best or not is irrelevant. What is irrefutable and quantifiable is that they have the largest fanbase in the world, brought in 4.6 billion dollars to korea's GPD, spoke at the UN. Has earned more than 25 guiness world record titles. Have outperformed all other korean acts in group and solo sales categories, are the only korean act to receive the hwagwan orders of cultural merit which allowed them to push out their military service (i may be wrong but i dont think any other korean act has received this-even though all the larger agencies applied to have extensions for their artists), and recently the government joined with Hybe to plan and execute the 10th anniversary festa in seoul and lit up 7 of the major landmarks in purple around the city as well as the massive firework show off the han river bridge--other k-pop bands have had 10th anniversaries and there was nothing like this from the community or government--400,000 fans attended festa and tourism increases 15% for the two week period. These are not subjective opinions but facts. So there is definitely something different about BTS. However, you personally don't have to like them better. For me, i find their lyricism, prolific use of symbolism, inclusion of references to literature, the arts, heritage and psychology, as well as their poweful messaging makes them stand out from tge crowd. However, that is just my opinion. If you love BTS and their message then spread love and acceptance for others, especially to those who are different from you and have opposing opinioms. If we just do that the world will be a better place.

If you aren't aware....yes, often times the lyrics hold a much deeper meaning and there is a yt channel called DKDKTV that explains BTS songs, whenever needed, giving information from a Korean perspective. I suggest always checking for an explanation and if there is one, do the MV back to back with the explanation. In K-Pop before a group debuts, they first become trainees. So before these seven members started out as BTS, there were others who didn't make it. They go through a rigorous training process.
    Also in the beginning when you saw their bunk beds, that was one of their first dorms. They truly came from really humble beginnings. Although, I can say even if they have remained so successful they still remain so humble and so grounded. 💜

    • @shanajeangedeon9060
      @shanajeangedeon9060 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @DANDJREACT That's where a lot of the confusion is coming in. Kpop isn't actually a genre, it refers to an industry in S.K. where they train people to be idols (essentially teaching as much as possible to make them as perfect as possible) and not the genre of music they are singing

    • @TripTipsPodcast
      @TripTipsPodcast  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shanajeangedeon9060 got it thanks 😊
      So is it just considered “pop” music in general?
      For me I like heavy metal bands, hard rock and even some rap music.
      There’s hundreds of bands that fit into these titles/genres. If I like Metallica I can refer to them as heavy metal and everyone is ok with that.
      So when I listen to multiple Korean/Asian groups is there some way of referring to them as a whole without having to call out each specific group by name?

    • @shanajeangedeon9060
      @shanajeangedeon9060 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@TripTipsPodcast Sadly, no. When you wanna reference a kpop group you do actually have to name each individual group, because that is how their mainstream media works. There *are* ways to specify the genres by themselves though, it's the same genres that we have but with a "k" in front and whichever soloist or band will come up for you (most of the time they aren't kpop groups, but some of the songs may still show up in the searches).
      And as a side note, Japanese mainstream music works in a similar way. If you want a specific genre in Japanese just put a "j" in front of a pre-existing genre name.
      Edit: There's technically 2 different version of "kpop" because kpop in general is the industry itself and then you would have to add a "sub-genre" at the end in order to find the actual genre of music. Most kpop bands do completely different genres of music.

      @@shanajeangedeon9060 WOW this is getting way too complicated for this old guy 😂😂😂
      Back in my day we could refer to a band or groups of similar bands as (jazz, rock, heavy metal, pop, blues or rap) and everyone could just figure it out and not get upset over it.
      Guess I got a lot of learning to do. I’m sure I’ll still piss off a lot of fans in the process of me trying to learn all of this.
      By the way, thank you so much for taking time out of your day to help educate me on this.
