The thing to understand about bts is that they were different from the beginning. The antis say "you victimize them" but we don't. It's just all that REALLY happened. The kpop industry always looked down on them for coming from a small company with no media influence. Before bts, the only groups that won awards and performed everywhere were the so-called BIG3 (YG, Blackpink's company; JYP, Stray Kids' company; SM, Exo's company). Other than that, no group was successful. The big3 always had influence in the media, therefore their groups always had a guaranteed audience and guaranteed music programs. Bts no, Bts debuted on a music show solely because an artist canceled and they were called in to fill in. It always cost them three times as much as the rest. Variety shows didn't call them because of their low influence, so they decided to start their own variety show. The company was about to abandon them because they could no longer pay for the apartment where the seven were, and they refused. They were cut off from live broadcasts regardless of whether their fans were there waiting and they chose to perform without a camera, for their audience. They are the only group that has shown genuine respect and love for their fans, because it really is thanks to Army's insistence that they were able to expand. In the United States, the army visited radio stations offering gifts so that they would play bts songs on the radio, for example. Just like you, who began to react at the request of the army. That's why the first thing bts says when they receive an award is ARMY. They always had the industries against them, and it was only thanks to their talent, their perseverance and their fans that they got ahead. And now no one is above them, and no group is close to achieving what they did. Thanks for reacting. Borahae 💜.
Exactly right about the respect for their fan and dont forget their input in their music, Bang PD didnt want puppets, he purpusly chose young talented boys who he guided to develop great artist qualities. The authenticity in their craft is really the best aspect about them considering the laws of the kpop industry
The company wasnt going to abandon them, they were going to be evicted from their dorm because the company couldnt pay anymore, but they were still young and refused to leave.
@@JesusOurLordandSavior Suga talked about it in Suchwita. When told that they cannot pay, they were told to "go back home." I did not say that they did it badly, but simply because of the lack of money, the only way out they saw was to return them.
9:08 when you said the old rockstars who wear makeup weren't trying to be feminine, neither are kpop stars. It's just a part of their culture. We aren't used to seeing men wear the same type of makeup as women. Though, not just hair banks back in the day wore makeup. Sure bands like kiss wore a different kind of makeup, but if you look at bands from the 80s like the cure, culture club, etc they wore eyeliner and lipstick. And in the 90s and on, emo bands like AFI, or panic at the disco, also wore eyeliner and lipstick. Personally, I think it's dumb to assign genders to inanimate objects. If a dude wants a big bushy beard and to wear a skirt or makeup, let him. If a guy wants to wear a ball gown and glitter, let him. People should be free to be who they want to be and they really shouldn't be judged for it. Happiness can be so hard to find, people should be free to do what they want to be happy as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. I personally find dudes in skirts or makeup super hot lol. I don't think it makes men any less "manly". Also yeah, they were talking about western media in the beginning there. Western media portray kpop as some sort of corporate machine that abused idols. They were saying yes there are some problems in the system but it's not as common as media makes it out to be. And tablo, the guy from epik high who was talking, said that even with the rigid rules etc, idols still have time to be creative. 😊 24:58 v Jimin and Jungkook were all still in school when they debuted, Jin continued to attend college as well
Dont worry! U also have bon voyage and in the soop also run bts! Therevs also movie documentaries on Disney+ 🥳 you'll be having tons of contents good for another 4yrs lmao
Plus, American Hustle Life; Rookie King; BTS Gayo. Plus so much more. And just when you think you're getting a handle on it all, they go and drop a new album, or release a new documentary, or some other new content.💜😂
15:24 Korean music shows don’t really have much to do with talent, the awards are determined by digital sales, physical sales, votes, radio plays, etc. The thing that made it hard for bts if anything was that some artists were given their awards simply because their company paid the music show. The only thing to do with solely their talent is that they are trying to showcase their talents, but not showcasing it just for an award 18:42 BTS were in fact hated an incredible amount by numerous people for standing up against injustices, multiple songs of theirs have been banned from being played on radios in Korea because of the messages in them

ALL celebs wear varying amounts of makeup for professional or performance appearances. Not just Western 70s-80s hair-metal or rock-metal artists well known for using them as trademarks of their images. In reality, literally ANY type of visual performance (stage, tv, video, film etc) using some form of stage lighting WILL necessitate makeup. Without makeup to help define & delineate individual features, the harsh stage lighting will “wash-out” your face to look like a blank or blurry mask. Still remember having to wear (heavy) stage makeup for diff orchestra, theater & video productions just so we don’t look like scary featureless ghosts to the audience/viewers. On top of this basic aesthetic purpose for general stage makeup, Kpop (in essence already extremely visual) is particularly skilled at utilizing makeup as another effective tool in delivering themes or messages of their artistic concepts. Also keep in mind that many E Asians have naturally softer features compared to their Western counterparts with sharper facial prominences. Therefore accordingly they’d then (by comparison) need even more/stronger makeup to highlight their features enough to show up under stage lighting. This may be why we often feel that Western celebs look more “natural” or easily believe they wear no/less makeup on stage. Overall I find it insultingly presumptuous to conclude that Asian artists like BTS primarily wears makeup merely to “look pretty” or “look feminine”. They deserve way more credit than we give them. When BTS is on stage, they’re not trying to convince the audience of their masculinity nor femininity but rather, to communicate their art & music as storytellers.
Jin was in university and Jimin, V and Jungkook were in highschool when they debuted. They still attended classes with dyed hair and everything lol. So many people debut and fail thats probably why Jimin's friends weren't fan girling. They already knew he could dance because he was top student in the school but debuting with a small poor company isn't that impressive.
i totally agree BTS just feels real and they are. they still share their vulnerability and they are still very playful like they where back then. the staff said they are even more goofy of camera.
18:10 Is hanging on a pole not pure talent?? Also, there's sex appeal in all types of performance, by men or by women. BTS also lifted their shirts and showed their abs, and Jimin has said he wants to try poledancing too. It's already the second time you've made an unintentional undermining comment towards women. I know it's unintentional, and you probably don't mean it that way. But it still affects many women when you say something like that. We're a female dominated fandom, and we'll always be a tough audience. So yes, you're getting pointers on feminism. I hope you know this is nothing personal nor is it a hateful comment. Thank you for taking the time to watch the docu! I hope you're enjoying the journey.
I love how seriously you take this. Thank you. Just a couple of things. The make up is mainly for performance, like actors and performers. It is also culture too but the make up has often matched their album concepts of the time too, strong in the beginning, softer as their concepts changed. When Jimin was talking about his debut, he and V were at the same school together, Korean High School of Arts in Seoul( Jimin and V are the same age 2 months apart, in Korean there is a special significance to same age friendships- Jimin and V became best friends and soulmates hence their song ‘Friends’) Jungkook went to a different arts school in Seoul. Jungkook was only 15 and Jimin and V only 17, the other students in their schools would have been studying various arts too. Debut is a huge thing hence Jimin’s disappointment. For BTS their debut was tough! All of the members were studying in some way and continued to do so all going on to Masters. One huge personal disappointment for Jimin and V is that they didn’t attend their graduation from High School due to scheduling, Jimin mentioned it several times. Thankfully for Jungkook they could all attend his which was just so lovely. As to ‘real’ yes BTS are very real which you can see through their logs and content on their own TH-cam Channel Bangtantv- the logs they show are still on there by the way but without subtitles or go to channel Bangtan Subs for eng subtitles on their earlier content. They are so real and share so much. And on Weverse through Bon Voyage and In the Soop they showed so much of their real life travelling and being together. That’s another reason why we love them so much.
Apparently that's one of the reasons Jimin and V became such good friends, they're both from different parts of the country and Jimin (and Jungkook) especially carry their local dialect with them, so Jimin - who had been a star student, class president for 9 years, valedictorian etc. - found himself teased/bullied at the new school by the local Seoul students. V (Taehyung) supported him and stood by him during this difficult time and it was the foundation of their close and enduring friendship. They literally refer to each other as soulmates. It doesn't mean they don't FIGHT, apparently their fights are the most epic ones, but they have an unbreakable bond.
they rarely even do lives without make up now. Here's my thing. Woman are expected to wear make-up and practice good hygrine. Men, eye brows are two, not one, hair on and in ears and hanging out your nose is not attractive, clean your nails, put some Chapstick on your sandpaper lips, use good hygine and for pets sake shave and use a little cover up on that huge zit. My 10 yr old granddaughter said it best when she told me when it's time for her to get married she will try to meet a Korean man because they are nice, polite, and CLEAN!
Thank you for your reaction. It is interesting how makeup is a topic of conversation. If we really look at it, any artist in the entertainment business (music, TV, movies, theatre, broadcasting, etc.) have to wear some type of makeup. It is part of their craft, either in delivering the news, putting on a play, telling a story (drama, comedy, horror), putting on a concert, etc. I take it as an artistic choice.
Yeah if more men starting wearing makeup I think it would make them more attractive to women. More men would probably get more dates if they wore makeup.
@@TripTipsPodcast ... But the thing about makeup is it has perverted our perception of human beauty for thousands of years. Ancient Africa, Greece, Egypt, Japan, Middle East (such as in Sumeria & Sodom) & many more ancient cultures, used makeup during their entertainment, such as for stage plays. And also for religion & everyday wear. There is a tribe in Africa, can't remember who, where the guys are the ones who wear makeup, not the girls, to attract the opposite sex. In the animal kingdom, it's usually the male of the species, like with birds, adorned with more color & fancy bigger feathers, where as the females look more drab & gray. Human beings are now so perverted with makeup that now we become fascinated seeing photos of celebrities with no makeup, such as with Hollywood female actors & runway models. When we see them without makeup, they now look "drab" or "ugly" or "boring" or "shocking" because we rarely see them without makeup, yet that is what they should really look like, natural & born that way, even if aging & harsh stage lighting & work stress have made them more wrinkly. There were actually a subset of men that did wear makeup for a time over 2 decades ago. They were called "Metrosexual" for the most part, although not all of them wore makeup. But traditional society did play a part in condemning & frowning upon them, thus why you rarely see them today. Call it toxic masculinity, machismo & homophobia, that may have limited the metrosexual movement from spreading & continuing. You will still see some men wear makeup today, aka "guy-liner", such as those in the rock music world, like Dave Navarro, Adam Ant, Billy Joe Armstrong, Adam Lambert, Prince (RIP), Steven Tyler, etc. Silent movie actors of the early 20th century also used makeup/eyeliner to accentuate their eyes to convey facial emotion on the screen, partly because film was only black & white back then, which then that translated over time to what we see today on modern film & TV. And the perspective of beauty does change over time. Women & a lot of men of Europe & colonial United States from 300-400 years ago did not use cosmetics we have today, theirs were more of using white powder to make themselves look even whiter & to hide skin problems. Today, that white powder (which sometimes had lead) has now been replaced with what is now called "foundation" which is more of a natural color complexion. It is hard to say if more men wearing more makeup today will be a good thing or not. Only time will tell. But yes we already see that with men in showbiz, such as in Hollywood & K-Pop. It would be a cool experiment to see if no human on the planet suddenly stopped wearing makeup for week or a month, as for everyday wear, Hollywood, TV (news reporters etc) & K-Pop. Many people's perception of beauty will get a shock to their system because of said perversion. :)
@@robwebnoid5763 thank you for this amazing breakdown and clarification. We appreciate you watching our video and for your comment. Thank you for your support.
@@TripTipsPodcast ... You're welcome. And I forgot to say, that this beauty perversion has also sadly affected BTS themselves. As you watch more of their live-streaming vlogs over the years for the fans, sometimes you will hear them say "Hi, this is J-Hope without my makeup" or "Hello, this is makeup-less Jimin" etc etc. There is a sense of vulnerability & self-inferiority that happens, through those societal perversions & pressures of beauty. I suppose it would also be like Batman without his cowl.
Seeing early RM in this video he so positive and motivated in his dream, but now days he look loss of his positive side of him, in one of RM live a fan thanks him because of bts and him they finally love themselves and then he reply "I'm grateful u love yourself, because i don't even know how to love myself" it's kinda painful to see it 🥺 they being through tons of hardships really hoping they will find their happiness 💜
Yep they sure did 100%. I didn’t listen to those bands. I listened to hardcore death metal bands like Sepultura, DEATH, Slayer, Cannibal Corpse and other similar bands. These bands did not wear makeup to look feminine. Closest thing to being feminine is the fact most of them had long hair. But so did a bunch of the Hells Angels and Harley Davidson motorcycle riders. But they are the farthest thing from being feminine.
@@TripTipsPodcast I don’t think most of the western bands/artists, or actors/tv & news presenters for that matter, who wear makeup do it to look feminine either. It is used by many professionals in the entertainment industry to look better on camera or to create a specific look. Same in K-pop.
@@Bolachas25 I agree. I hate this idea because BTS or other kpop artists wear make up they must only be doing it to look more feminine. Nope they are just naturally good looking and wearing make up enhances their features and it's done sometimes to fit a certain concept for a photoshoot or music video. BTS don't look that much different whether they are wearing make up or not. The same people who say BTS look feminine with make up would still say they look feminine even when they are completely bare faced.
I also feel that the BTS guys are some of the few most genuine idols out there, not only because they reflect this in their music but also in every other aspect, be it when they talk to fans at lives, when they interview them, etc. For example, like at the beginning of last year there was a sports competition in China in which clearly the Chinese athletes cheated the Korean athletes but nevertheless they gave the prizes to the two Chinese athletes, because of this many Korean citizens were angry and they requested that they be fair and give the prizes to the real winners, before this Namjoon public in his IG that they respect the Korean athletes along with an image of the exact moment in which the Chinese athletes cheated and because of this he was totally canceled in China 😐 on another occasion, Jungkook received a meal from a ""fan"" at the door of his house, the thing is that only some people from Hybe and close friends and family of the BTS boys know the address exact from their houses so that person was a stalker, just after JK public in Weverse that they should not send him food and that if something like this happened again he would give the data of the sender of the order to the police; The point is that they say and do things according to what they believe to be correct, in the case of Nam, I have not seen almost any idols do something like what he did, almost no idols give their opinion or teach their point of view or position on a specific issue, whether political or social because there is always the risk of receiving massive hatred due to this, and in the case of JK placing limits on these obsessive ""fans"" who love to interfere in private life of the idols.
Actually you don't have to look far to know where the members live. There are articles when they buy a flat or when JK is letting his new home be built (or gifted an old apartment to his brother). There are even youtube videos of where they are/some stuff of how their homes look like (there is a reason Jimin almost never does a live from home - fans made a joke that we now know - the camera fell - that he has a second chair + a wall and curtains). If you are interested you can find it and sometimes youtube algorythm offers them, too. Stalker fans unfortnately exist. Sasaeng are really problems. But they exist everywhere, too.
@@ruthfischer7615 Yes, I know that articles have come out in which in the case of JK they say that he built a house, but if my memory serves me correctly...it does not say the exact address, if I were to go to Korea I would not have the slightest I have no idea where his house is, although if due to a stroke of luck I manage to win a trip to Korea I would not even try to find that information because I consider that that would be violating his privacy. And besides, they have never directly said "Oh, I live in _ _ _".
@@moon_julie Have they not? I think Namjoon gave an adress in Still Life but I have no idea where that is. Like I said you can if you want to. It's unfortunately not private information. Not that I would go anywhere near them. If I ever knew the exact adress I'd/have immidetly forget/gotten it (not a shipper either). Nevermind that I think they live in gated communities/places with security. I believe the stalker ordered online, paied and send it to JK's address where a doorman probably called up to JK and JK denied the order so the service worker had to take it back (probably very confused about what was going on). Nevermind that Korean fans tracked down a commenter that was angry that JK was "ungrateful" for someone odering him food. If it was the same person? IDK. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Like I said stalkers exist everywhere even for unfamous people.

Listen to this song (vocal only) - the truth untold. This song is based on a legend called "la citta di smeraldo". this legend is about a man who lived in captivity in a castle because he thought he was ugly. once he fell in love with a woman, but was afraid to confess to her because of his dislike for himself.😊
I can’t stress enough how BTS in 2013 were teens and early 20’s. They were so so young trying to navigate this corrupt system with the odds all stacked against them. BigHit didn’t have money at that time. The boys were not catered to and spoiled for quite a few years. They weren’t abused or neglected, there was just not enough funds and also I think it was smart to let them feel the struggle longer because it helped them to bond and not grow individual egos that eventually break up a team.
Prince, Rick James,Michael Jackson , little Richard debarge etc all wore makeup . All entertainers on stage and film wear makeup too including rappers . It’s been around forever for sure. Bts is definitely the realest which is why they are at top ,the fanbase saw the grind from nothing to the top with people trying to stop them .💜
@@TripTipsPodcast I understand though the sentiment when I first saw them it was a lot of make up, but then I realized I was being kind of a hypocrite😂 unintentionally.
BBY Gang was the source of the video with all the highlighted articles criticizing K Pop practices. Most criticisms came from the West which was coming to grips with what was becoming a non-Western music invasion. I am sure when the British Rock invasion occurred they were not perceived as something different than us that warranted deep scrutiny. They were fellow Westerners. As the series shows training Idols is not overly different from say gymnasts or football stars. It is hard and starts early. It is just too many Westerners like dividing things into us and them. And they are always something less desirable than us.
They do actually workout on their free time and they also eat alot, theyre not to picky, they just eat whatever they actually want, Jimin did put himself on a very strict diet years ago, he was a bit chubby, especially his cheeks and people made some dumb comments, but now I think he doesnt worry too much, also, they drink as well, alot.
Don’t forget you still have way more content after the Rise of Bangtan. There is “In the Soop”, “Run BTS” and “Bon Voyage”. You’re not anywhere done. Run BTS has 153 episodes! Are you ready for it?
A lot of the things idols wear on their hair sometimes are gift from their fans or just funny cute accessories, again over there its not hing if boys wear stuff like that, most of their behavior is normal and socialy acceptable but we cant deni that sometime its inévitable to put on an act especialy directly in front of fans. And one thing about Bighit they might have been poor but they always celebrated the boys birthdays lol.
Jungkook the one (who was talking about the center position) was only 15 when they debuted. So he had to work really hard to prove his worth. BTS were constantly cut from broadcasts and their company was poor and had little media influence. They weren't given as many opportunities. They went through a lot to get to where they are today that's why ARMY (fanbase) is so protective. During their later eras members were recieving death threats and using dangerous diets to appease the general public. They got so much hate for doing what they did. Suga (the one who talked about writing lyrics all the time,) his parents didn't support his dream of doing music. BTS first 3 or so years were really hard. Love your videos just some helpful info from an army of almost 7 years.
to answer your question regarding eating : i did high performance sports for 18 years. it's not possible to recover all nutrients that are lost by just eating a ton and trying to keep your electrolyte levels by drinking gallonwise within a short amount of time ( the free time in the evening when you're done). you got to substitute with something like basica. nowadays it's quite a bit easier since there are all kinds of nutrient bars but you still want to enjoy eating a full meal at the end of the day. that was mostly rice or potatoe based for me with chicken and vegetables without sauces, i used butter. you might think butter is super unhealthy, but that's bs. it's way healthier than margarine opposed to what most people assume and has actual nutrients and fats. so if you wanna keep your physique and muscles, you better eat and try not to go into calory/nutrient negative too much. otherwise, the body will try to compensate by deconstructing them.
Actually for 30 years I was a personal trainer, sports and weight loss nutritional specialist, post injury fitness rehabilitation specialist and gym owner before I retired and started this channel with my son.
Lets be honest here, being an idol/artist is a job. Whether you feel like they're being disingenuous or not, they get paid to do the fan service and that's an industry standard because if you don't do it, it's seen as the idol being rude to their fans. This can garner them backlash from the news outlets and the Korean/international fans online. This may not seem like much but an idols image is very important especially if they are in a group, it can inflict damage on the group as a whole. I fully understand coming in blind to a completely new culture blind but I hope that perhaps in your spare time that you'd look into the questions you're asking online since you are pre-recording these. There is a lot left unsaid in even this series regarding Korean culture, history and the society. Please do your own research so that it might lessen your confusion going forward. Or even try looking for reactions of this series by Korean youtubers who can better explain the context because there are a some things that cannot be explained fully within these episodes.
Most of the members work out besides practicing (the youngest often does it after their 3 hour concerts) and that’s the case for the other groups I love too. Many of them don’t consider dancing as “working out”, which blows my mind, but it is what it is 😂
Love watching ROB with you guys!!! Thank you!! I personally watched those episodes slowly because I wanted to postpone the feeling of losing someone😂 Glad that I am reviewing the episodes with you~~ Thank you! 💜💜💜💜💜
Lol. I’m catching up on your reactions today. I had to pause where Julian (is that correct?) mentions the school systems. Even though I’m more Canadian than Japanese, I was constantly being told I should be a doctor, lawyer, etc. I was more inclined to the creative side and some sports. Yet, I still studied like crazy back then to get top grades. I was so upset when a miscommunication in my last name made the school think I was 2 different people and my grades were not acknowledged at graduation or scholarships and I felt like I disappointed my mom, myself, and my late father. All I will say is I did study Sciences but I am not a doctor or lawyer or Government worker. I’m still told as a much older ARMY that I should have pursued being a doctor. This is also why I love BTS’ messages to the ones who were younger at that time. I’m so glad that some of my younger relatives were brought up to be diverse, try things, study hard but not to the point of stress crying, prepare for what they like and it’s okay if they change their mind if they decide to go to University. School is important but it alone is not life. That’s just my opinion though.
I’m right there with you. I never went to college yet I owned and operated 5 different businesses in my life. I sold two of them 6 years ago and retired and now live in Vegas. Going to school doesn’t always equate to a successful life.
since you mentioned bbygang please if you guys can react to his videos too he has a whole series on how the west reports on kpop and especially bts. theres 4-5 videos in the series plus many other videos on his channel that are reaction worthy regarding bts. list of videos below. i also highly suggest more bora city videos as well :) i love the rise of bangtan but its gonna take a while to get through while these other videos are a lot quicker to get through imo. - bts more than kpop - are bts stans toxic - how bts paved the way - bts vs kpop -youre wrong about kpop -the media is wrong about kpop - kpop vs orientalism
Oh yes, the channel "Bora city magazine" right? They have very in depth analysis, their editing is great, and they come with facts! Really good work, I compare their research to ROB material
great great commentary and insight I really enjoyed a lot of your conversation during this episode whereas most reactors I find myself skipping through because they’re not discussing anything of substance you guys are really getting why BTS was able to start a global movement with their sincerity, talent, hard work and overall good characters alone. they are the pinnacle of humanity fr
The prank was so harsh considering Jungkook is a perfectionist and under so much pressure as the youngest bieng the main vocalist of. The team and center of the performances 😂 Im glad they dont do these kind of pranks anymore 💜
Hi guys! This is just my take on your previous upload regaeding rise of bangtan. Clearly there r areas u have no idea what it's about. Im happy that u started doing tons of pre-recorded videos for rise of bangtan. But 1 thing good abt taking time of it ams waiting for armys' response before continuing on every episode is that u get info abt d things u dont know regarding the episode u watched. And it's better to carry new info in mind everytime u watch another episode. ROB isnt just abt BTS. It also dwells on the whole kpop industry. How they were different from them or d difference of bighit's approach for bts in general. It's easier that way. There' s also a positive i teraction between u and armys that way. That u r acknowledging all d things we say that made u confused from d last episode onto another. I see there r already 7 episodes filmed? I hope u take a break, and make sure new info was relayed until d last episode u filmed before watchinf another. Have a nice day 💜🫶🏻
I completely understand and wish we had the free time to casually record and post these videos one at a time and wait for everyone’s responses before moving on to the next video but we have a very busy and hectic schedule. So the only way for us to stay on track is to pre record several episodes at one time and schedule them ahead of time on TH-cam.
As you really start to explore the BTS content and other KPOP content you will see why people say that BTS isn't KPOP and why ARMY hates labeling them a boyband even though technically they are both. Not to diminish any other groups because there are some other wonderful KPOP groups out there but they are not BTS, (I personally like TXT, Ateez, Mamamoo and Twice as other KPOP groups go) in fact there is no other group like BTS in the world wide music industry. I think you guys are already starting to realize it based on your comments in this video. I'm 54 and have seen a lot of music groups in my life and there are only a handful as talented as BTS. I put them up there with the greats like the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Whitney, Queen and Taylor Swift as far as the most talented musicians I have seen in my lifetime. They are truly ground breaking. thanks for your thoughtful reactions.
Yes they are referring to Americans and bascially saying we got the system from the USA (mo town for instance.) Who would scout people off the streets from church choirs then train them how to dress, the make up teach them how to present themselves on camera, train them to sing etc etc. I knew they were talking about straight away even though I'm not American. Yes those are American Articles, plus BBC did a in depth report as well but it was both sides of the good and the bad.
you also have 2 seasons of In the Soop, and 3 or 4 seasons of Bon voyage! and don't forget a few years of Run BTS variety show, Burn the stage movie and documentary, bring the soul, permission to dance, I'm forgetting stuff, ARMY Help! 💜 All their live stuff concerts. I love watching with you guys.
Hi guys I just wanted to say that I appreciate that you’re being honest. I’m a fan of BTS but that doesn’t mean that I like all of their songs It’s nice to see people actually saying that they don’t prefer a certain song than lie and saying they like it. I get what you guys are saying about makeup that I feel some ARMYs miss. Yes, entertainers and broadcasters wear make up - but it’s so they will look more natural like their actual face through TV. Rock bands like the ones mentioned in your commentary wore it to look scarier. Where as a lot of BTS and KPOP use make up to look different from their natural self. They use it to look prettier. JIMIN (who became my first bias wrecker) is often described as pretty or beautiful. Hardly do I hear ARMYs describe Jimin as handsome. It’s because of the 7, he often has the most feminine look with makeup. It’s true- to regular viewers (non-fans) who sees pictures or videos of BTS, they all look feminine with makeup. I’ve heard this from friends over and over again. Personally their make up used to bother me, but not anymore- I got used to it. Plus as you’ll see through this Rise of Bangtan series and so many other videos, you’ll see many videos of BTS without their actual make up on, especially the early vlogs. @30:21 you’re too quick to comment about tiaras 😅. BTS does wear them too and yea it’s for their fans not themselves. As you know Japan and Korea love the concept of “cute” and BTS does plenty of things to be cute even if it’s not their natural personality.
I understand what you are trying to say but in my opinion it's not really the make up that makes them look more "feminine". Do you really think they look that much different with make up and without it? Because to me I really don't see that much of a difference. I hate when people act like BTS wear a ton of make up when in reality they don't really wear more than the average male entertainer (maybe a little more but not much), they are just naturally good looking and make up enhances their natural features. I bet if you asked the same people if BTS look feminine when they aren't wearing any make up they would probably still say yes. I don't think their goal with make up is to look more feminine, I think their mindset is I'm going to be performing/sweating/getting my picture taken/being filmed so I want to look my best or the make up is being done to fit a certain concept for a photoshoot/music video. This is just my opinion.
No I don't think they're wearing stage makeup to look prettier, it's to have their features be more defined on a large stage or on camera. It's like how theater performers wear heavy stage makeup to have their features be clearly defined, even if you're watching from far away. Kpop stages are so big and they treat it like performing arts, so the reason for stage makeup is the same. Also perhaps because asian features are typically less prominent compared to western features (western ppl usually have deeper set and larger eyes, etc). So to appear more defined on stage and on camera, makeup is necessary. Also sometimes the makeup pairs with certain concepts that they're trying to showcase.
Awesome Can’t wait for this trend to come to the USA 🇺🇸 I’ll be the first one in the makeup line and at the shoe stores getting my sexy makeup and high heels 👠 I’m going to be a hottie and the woman won’t be able to resist me 😂
*bby* *gang** mag* (and his channel *Elliot* *Sang* ) has some really good video essays that help with context, too. "BTS vs. K-pop" gives some context but also "you are wrong about K-pop" and "BTS: More than K-pop". Jin's problem was that they had never (?) trained with a micpack. That micpack was fastened to his shorts and the weight pulled them down and Jin felt them going down and was humilated (I'm not sure that they actually fell - but they wouldn't have to to make you feel humilated as there are already people watching the rehearsals). In fact "fans" are there from early in the morning till the last artist (so are the artists) goes from stage - often not fed or even hydrated so it is exhausting for them, too. (Nevermind that that can also happen on shows in the West, too. I remember my brother coming back from such a show where a classmate competed and being very angry with the people there and the disregard for the forced audience.) As said in the boxes to win you need not only votes from the audience and from people watching but also streams and sales. Funnily enough girlgroups get way more streams - even as they are only listened to by teens and up to middle of 20s usually (and the people forced into military service) - but the sales from boygroups can be double the sales of girlgroups. To understand Korea and their thinking you also need to understand the context. There is an interesting article on wikipedia about the phrase "n-po generation" (which BTS also mention in later songs). *DKDKTV* for example has a vid called "the real problem about Korea" from march this year (2023) that also sums it up well. And - as others have said and as the documentary shows even at the beginning of this episode - the chance to make it from a smaller (not privileged label) is small to none. it is also shown in later episodes concerning context. A lot of groups debut and disband shortly afterwards - sometimes even with a week or two. I hope some of that has changed but I'm not sure. Nevermind that the members went to performance schools with people with simlar goals who knew that BTS chances were slim to none to exist even 100 days. Fact is that there are 3 waiting rooms for Idols at those shows. in the third are around 50 groups that are not booked and have to hope that a scheduled performer cancels, someone comes in, points at them and tells them that they can show an abridged version of their current promoted song(s) - while hoping it is shown live and later uploaded onto official channels. It's very competetive. BTW the second biggest music market in the world is Japan - which Kpop star like BOA and TVXQ began to open - successfully - in the middle of the 2000s. Exo (and before them Big Bang) had some success in China - in fact Exo with their Chinese subunit (and some Chinese stagenames) was made to conquer it. Unfortunately for them and other Idols SK worked out some military stuff with the US - the US installed a radar system in SK I believe - that the Chinese government hated and therefore made harsher rules among other things to Kpop Idols - which led to only Chinese Idols being able to promote in China or at least something similar. There were later attempts by SM especially with Exo but the government made again pushbacks after at first allowing some stuff. (China is trying to reestablish some old ideals about family and manliness again - as a result musicians are not allowed to look too "feminin"/androgenous. Nevermind that Chinese women also like those looks. The result being that fanclubs seem to actually be the ones who massivly buy albums directly from the Korean labels.) Some of your questions are answered in later episodes: about food and training. Thank you for watching this! 💜
One thing that I don't think was mentioned in the video is that at that time RM and J-Hope were getting a lot of hate and even being told to leave the group just because they weren't "handsome", comments from K-Pop fans. in general and even people who called themselves """Armys""" 😒 which I always found ridiculous, it's like...okay, you don't find them handsome, all good with that, we all have certain physical preferences when categorizing someone handsome or pretty But why should they leave the group when they are so talented? You care that idols are talented, right? I expected that this kind of thoughts will change within the K-Pop community but from what I have seen, no, it hasn't changed, in fact it has gotten worse, not only Asian fans but also international fans think like this (not all) , every time I see that a certain type of unattainable beauty matters more, how ostentatious an MV is, that idol wears more branded clothes and is an ambassador for more of these luxury brands, totally leaving aside the musical aspect or the talent of idols, for example, there is a group called Mamamoo whose members are very talented, they have possibly the most stable voices in the entire K-Pop industry and their stage presence is dazzling, but they are not conventionally pretty, in the words of Koreans and K-Pop fans, even on the Internet one of them is cyberbullied a lot just because she is supposedly "fat" when she is not, having a lot of hips is not the same as being fat, they also recently criticized an idol from a group of guys who walked to their entertainment company without makeup, all very absurd, and yes, sorry, I know this doesn't have much to do with the video but it was something I wanted to get out of myself 😅
you never can make every body happy, beside you can put also energy out off the negative, if you can the negative translate to positive. if you can do that then you beter can ignore the negative and that can be hard but if you let the negative get you you also can get negative.
Western society does put out articles about the dark side of kpop, it’s mostly Americans/non-Korean that look at kpop in such a negative way, here on TH-cam I’ve come across SO MANY TH-cam videos about the “dark side of kpop”, the TH-camr tends to look at a few tragic kpop cases and then generalize kpop, even on Twitter non-kpop enjoyers tend to look at kpop so negatively because of the dark side of kpop videos/articles they’ve seen. People now think kpop is a horrible industry that ends with kpop idols unaliving themselves or being overworked, the kpop industry has improved but people tend to still think kpop is how it was back in the early 2000’s, now there are laws that protect idols and agency’s take better care of idols, there’s even a curfew younger idols have so that they don’t work for long hours.
9:00 I don't believe (male) K-Pop idols are trying to be women or feminine. That is not why they wear makeup. I think even the most hardcore artists you may watch, at some point, wears makeup, you may just not realize it. I may not explain it well, so I'll leave it to others to comment further.
Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. So glad u are continuing this series. Aneesa the creator of this docu series is an editor. It took her 4 yrs of research to create 20 plus chapters. Many army don't want this series to end. Aneesa has to do more research to tell the rest of BTS story. She sadly does not have time since she was promoted. I hope in the future she changes her mind and posts the last 3 chapters she has on her computer. Army would wait forever for more. BTS exercise daily 2-3 times a day. Back then they practiced 16 hrs now its 12 hrs. If u want to compete u have to run treadmill and sing. U have to work out so u can dance and do tricks. They are athletes in their own right. Right now they eat one meal a day plus snacks. Back then it was different. In the military they eat 3 meals a day. So they gain a lot of weight. After they come back they have to lose weight to be able to dance easily. Loved seeing Army do the chants before there were official chants. =0p Loved hearing that army was asking when is their debut on google. haha fun! Excited to hear your thought on ch.3. So glad u liked this. I am learning so much. i love this! Hugs. Later's. -NY USA Army💟 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💟 Aishwarya Ahirrao ⟭⟬ ⟬⟭ said on 7/23/22 This is a great series! Aneesa (the creator of The Rise of Bangtan) shared that she has been working on this series (her labor of love) for over 3 years! She is taking viewer on a journey step-by-step from BTS' perspective not looking back on their days but living through them (with them). She edits their content to allow BTS to speak their thoughts, through their experiences at the time because BTS has been documenting themselves since BEFORE their debut, so there is A LOT of material to edit down to tell their story! She also gives an overview of the KPop history for those who are not familiar with the industry. She uses clips from different video clips of other idols/ journalists interviews to try to give a broader perspective of the industry. Her skill as a professional video editor really shines through. Amazing work! I think many ARMY really like this series (besides it being extremely well made), she doesn't try to interpret what "she thinks" BTS is trying to say, she just shows the viewers exactly what they said and shared about what their thoughts were at the time. She is an "OG" KPop fan and BTS fan since pre-debut! She also shared that BTS has been the light in her darkness for many years now. (Cr: "FY" on yt) nafnaf said on 4/2/22 There's literally a word for "You worked hard" that Koreans say, "수고하셨습니다" (sugohaseupnida). It's a part of their culture. Mint said on 4/2/22 Yup. It’s kinda the equivalent “bon appetit” before a meal or telling someone “break a leg”. 열심히 하겠습니다 (I will work hard) as a greeting & 수고하셨습니다 (you worked hard) as the parting. A person might introduce themselves as “so and so from ___university, degree in x, I’ll work hard!” in everyday situations like new hire, or when you show up to volunteering, or even personal hobbies like meeting new members of your dance crew. Now i know that u know this, but this is for a lil background info and things to be notice in first two chapters for your wife to read & know 😊 I think it's important to notice the differences between BTS' worries and the other trainees worries. BTS' were worried about their own personal skills (not dancing well enough, song worries, etc), about not getting attention when they debut due to their small company, not having money, etc. While the other trainees seem to be living in fear of being cut from the company at any moment if they make one mistake, worrying about weight quotas, etc. BTS stayed until late hours because they WANTED to, while the other trainees HAD to. Obviously BTS had things they had to do too, they could've not made it to debut as Jimin almost did due to short training, but instead of using that as a fear to hold over them Bighit seemed to use it to encourage them to work harder and improve themselves. BTS were allowed to make mistakes without worrying they'd be thrown out of the company. I'm very glad that they all signed with Bighit, and that Bighit has caused a shift in the Kpop industry, lots of newer companies are giving their groups more freedom and treating them better due to BTS' success. These companies see that idols don't need to be punished and forced to do things in order to succeed, BTS are proof that freedom and happiness should be the most important thing. (Cr: "Shannon" on yt) Now plz understand this 1st episode shows two sides, one is typical k-pop system and how the labels/industry work, whereas subtle hints of BTS and bighit being contradictory different is shown, BTS is different from other K-pop groups and BigHit is different from other idol music companies. These first few episodes can be misleading because it makes you think BTS management follows these guidelines the other idol members from other companies are talking about, but BTS and BigHit don't do those things. Notice how when it is said idols don't have a lot of creative freedom, you see Namjoon and Yoongi writing lyrics, or when it says idols have phone bans or something, you see the BTS members on their phones, or how when idols say they aren't allowed to go outside the dorm, you see Yoongi walking around freely. It can be a confusing thing for new ARMY to make note of, but PLEASE notice these differences. It is vital to how BigHit runs differently, and therefore why BTS is so different from other idol groups from the very start. (Cr: "Kayla Kulik" on yt) @brayonne1755 said on 7/20/23 Hey! ok so a couple things that aren't mentioned in the video that I found interesting when i learned about them: 1- the clip where Bang PD mentions they clear all other schedules when they're preparing for a comeback, that's actually a big deal because the company was struggling at that time and the guys all used to work side jobs to make revenue for the company. I don't mean like Suga being a scooter delivery guy, you can find the members in videos, promotions and commercials from back then as extras or back up dancers and singers etc. Not doing any of that for weeks would likely put a dent in the company's working budget for sure. 2- the reason Jin was upset after the run-through for the debut was apparently because his pants came down as he was dancing. I'd have probably died, especially as the eldest hyung poor guy! 3- that group EXO, apparently, I repeat APPARENTLY, their fans are the planners of a black ocean during a BTS performance. This is when during a performance the audience turns off their light sticks so the performers will just see darkness. It seriously breaks my soul that anyone would do this, that anyone would THINK of doing this. And there's no doubting that this kind of thing has to be planned, thousands of people don't just turn out their bulbs at a specific moment without planning. This has happened to a few groups in Kpop and is traumatizing enough that BTS portrayed one in their video for Bulletproof the Eternal. In xCeleste's (the queen of all armys!) hardships video she shows Twitter trends of "breakwingstour", "kickoutjhope" etc. Some say it's just specific fans saving their batteries for their specific artist but give me a break, being extra batteries! I don't get people's cruelty. 4- I'm glad you mentioned Kanye and Black Skinhead - I think THIS is probably the biggest thing that got them virulently hated back then, at least by underground hip-hop guys. I tried to dig as much as I was able about this and apparently, that radio interview (and keep in mind the idea of this interview was to celebrate BTS' one year anniversary!) where the jerkoff (rapper named B-Free) calls them girls for wearing makeup as idols, this interview was after that concept trailer thing (on the Kanye song, you saw a clip where they rip off their black shirts and are suddenly in white - by the way there are hilarious clips of a performance where JK and RM ripped too hard and ended up no zero shirt 🤣😍). The disgust was based on RM having re-recorded the song. They used the track, removed Kanye, and RM rapped it with exactly the same flow, if I remember right he did it in Korean. For the hip hop community this was outright blatant theft, you don't "steal" another rapper's flow. What those guys didn't know: BTS had spent an absolutely insane amount of energy on this comeback performance, it was a very big deal, they had been told there were no legal issues for them to use the song, but at the last second the **broadcasters** said they couldn't use the song, I'm assuming this is because they would have had to pay some sort of royalty to Kanye and weren't willing. It was too late at this point for BigHit to come up with an alternative which would have meant new choreo and all the rehearsals that come with that so they decided to redo the vocals, this way they could go ahead and use the song. Of course for the sake of the choreography the vocals had to match the original track so RM imitated Kanye. Apparently he knew and understood this wasn't a good move but there was just no choice anymore, there was too much invested in that performance, they couldn't not do it. Annnnnd... BACKLASH. I think it started with the hip hop crowd but this followed them for years considering "Plagiarism Boy Scouts" trended on Twitter on a few occasions, the suspicion stuck. I saw RM refer to it as his dark past. The good news is B-Free is currently in jail, or was. He even tried to apologize 6 years later, army told him to shove it.
Wow that’s insane! Thanks for writing all this and yes the creator deserves a job at BTS after making this series. At least that’s what I think. She did great!
Awesome information thanks for sharing. Check out all the chapters. We completed the whole series plus we created one extra bonus video which should come out next Monday.
5:10 Yes there is a very negative, simplistic narrative pumped out constantly in Western media about K-pop, often hypocritical to boot. Imho it is based mostly on prejudice and ignorance but by some it seems a deliberate attempt to squish the competition.
The comment about how the hair and makeup was use purposefully to make them look effeminate and like girls. I'm wondering where this comes from. If it's based on this episode, I don't see it. The guys are very much styled to look "masculine" in the skool trilogy concept and the only make-up they have on is black eyeliner. Of course, the body type that is considered masculine in North America (buff, muscle, big) isn't the ideal body type in Korea, but I wouldn't go so far as to say the ideal is for men to "look like women". I'm 45, and while I'm not a "boomer" I couldn't help but think that many younger watchers might be feeling that about the opinions being shared about gender here. Keep in mind that gender norms are COMPLETELY made up and change from culture to culture, even for women's bodies. Why else would gender affirming surgeries like breast implants, etc be very popular.
Thanks for enjoy every step. I remainds you guys to check out the delete scene and bonus content for every chapter. There are many deep information too. Thank you

15:40, idk what yall mean by it being unfair for the men to compete sex appeal. do yall forget that most of the audience for these shows and kpop in general are straight women?? there's a reason why kpop boy groups tend to have bigger fanbases and don't have to rely on the general public as much. boy groups aren't the ones at a disadvantage here. plus the afterschool girls are hella talented, they had to learn pole dancing just for this comeback and perform with all types of bruises while singing.
You're one of the few reactors who gets it relative to BTS (I can count those that do on one hand, I think). I appreciate the respect you are showing BTS. Thank You! xCeleste did some videos about the hate and such they received over the years and her video goes up to at least 2020, maybe even 2021. It's worth a watch. ARMY who have been with BTS from the beginning leave some real and important comments here and I see you are reading them too. I've only been an ARMY since 2021 but I have watched just about everything out there that there is to watch so far, except maybe full versions of some of the Bon Voyage shows. When you run out of The Rise of Bangtan, you can watch their variety show "Run BTS", Bon Voyage 1 through 4, In the Soop and In the Soop 2. By that time, in 2024, I believe there will be a new documentary out from BTS themselves. I can't remember if it will be on Netflix or Disney+. Also, J-Hope is going to have a new documentary out in 2024. RM and Jimin are likely to have new music out, and I think J-Hope is going to put out a physical album of his Jack in the Box (previously only digital). In 2023, we are just getting some of V's solo work, but his album is due out Sept 8th, and 3 more MV's. Jung Kook has also mentioned he will do another single, and then a mini-album, by November 2023. Also, have you seen all the episodes of Suchwita (drink with Suga). That is all content besides their songs. People have been saying they have over 300, but I think since June 2020, they are probably over 400 songs now. lol Enjoy the journey. I don't watch nor listen to other K-Pop groups. I only listen to BTS. They are just different and better in my eyes. The Best actually.
@DAN&JREACTS, first I like to say that I commend you on your respect for the Korean pop music and BTS other reactors don’t really care they’re just reacting for views and clout and they don’t even respond to the comment section! 🙏🏼Thank you One of your questions that you wanted to know is if the American or western media are crapping on K-pop or BTS well yes as of the past five years K-pop has really started to dominate the American charts when they only used to dominate the Asian charts. now that they’re more internationally known not just BTS ,”really pave the way“ for other K-pop 4th Generation to gain their popularity in the western music scene. As far as the media look at BTS as a little boy band don’t know much about them only knowing that they are dominating the charts in many countries as well as the United States and that’s what scares the billboard! because they constantly are changing the rules so that BTS don’t get the number one position but we already know that the fandom ARMY is going to find a way! Do I want to talk about the Grammys and what they did to BTS? I think you might know a little bit about it they used BTS for views and let them be the last to perform and kept saying,” oh BTS is performing soon , Stick around!” ARMY backs up BTS because they know that the fandom was going to stick around to see them perform! yeah they really were crapping on not just BTS but other K-pop idol groups from progressing and able to get on the Billboard hot 100 or billboard 200 charts! That’s where the xenophobia and racism comes into play, because Billboard wants to see their American artist to flourish and be in the top position on the charts! A lot of people don’t want to realize this but KPOP is becoming more popular and well-known all over the world including the United States! You guys have been reacting to K-pop and BTS because you find it interesting you wanna learn more about it and you don’t wanna do what everybody else is doing as far as the TikTok and twitch kind of thing where they upload kind of childish post and I commend you for that for being interested and serious!👏 Don’t worry we understand you have a busy schedule people have busy lives and as long as you guys wanna continue to know more about K-pop or BTS you know the fandom will be here to support discuss and help you because we know that you guys are sincere and want to continue learning more about the Korean culture, the music, and maybe Korean food 🥘 Sending love from Michigan💜🙏🏼BoraHae 💜
After you watch the rise of bangtan, I think you’ll be ready to react to RMs wildflower. You’ll get a better understanding for the lyrics and sentiments
I dont know if someone has talked about this but yes, it is definitely the Western media that say those things about kpop. They still do it today...Billboard is especially notorious for it. And you talked about the negative comments...RM, as the only speaker at the beginning, wouldnt translate the negative bs so that the other members wouldnt be upset. He took all that on himself as leader to protect his brothers, which makes him, imo, so much more impressive.
@DANDJREACT and yes, they all go to the gym. RM posts his workout list on ig. One of the things they do is run on the treadmill while singing to improve stamina and breath control. And they diet a lot before CBS. Jimin especially has had issues with food in the past, starving himself to the point of passing out because the body shaming in kpop is pretty intense. Jin has talked about only eating 4 chicken breasts per day for a year.
At 41:20 Do they go to gym? Yes all kpop artist must do body weight exercises to stay fit And their dance practice is not 6 hours a day. Its 12-16 hours everyday. Their diet? Sometimes they dont eat but just take water for fee days to keep a slim body or just eat 1 piece chicken a day
Btw re diet and exercise They do both Very very weight conscious for on camera work Diets have been v extreme for some Suga lived on chicken breast banana and grape juice smoothies because taking time to chew was too much trouble Jin lived on 2 packs of chicken only per day til he became malnourished Jimin on his 1 meal 10 day regime But dieting before promotions is still the case but I think as they’ve gotten older they have made better decisions… Still jimin who is 5’8-5’9 was 59 k ( 130 lbs) while filming the MV’s on his face album this year…
And I SERIOUSLY HATE that birthday prank - he is SO vulnerable, being a literal kid, the youngest one on set, and no way to defend himself against critique, and then "Haha, got you good" - but he is just left reeling, needing to make sure it was ACTUALLY all a prank. (That last double-check, "The director was acting too?" because he has to make SURE...) I suppose you could say that you need to be toughened up if you're going to make it in the industry, but still - being left to wonder if you can trust the people around you is Not Cool in my book.
Greetings from Uruguay, thanks for your respectful comments asia guys, answering one of your questions most have their independent exercise routines in addition to what they practice as Jk boxing and Jimin martial Arts, RM runs and bikes, the only ones who don't do much are suga and jhobi, JK on vlive has shown us his routines, thanks for supporting BTS and see you next time 💜💜💜💜🇺🇾
The trainee system is harsh, but the different companies and different eras employ it to varying degrees, some worse than others. Some Kpop groups worked hard for years, made a decent amount of money for their company and didn't see a dime of it themselves. Some were left with life-long health issues. And others were more of a tough-but-fair bootcamp experience. Of course the focus will be on the most outrageous stories and the worst examples, and the fact that some of these worst-case scenarios come from the "big 3", i.e. the three biggest companies in the industry, is a clear warning that there is no way to ensure that you won't be taken advantage of. The system grew out of a need to emulate the Western pop market - they weren't looking for unique or quirky or very "Korean" stars, they were looking for something that could be easily digestible to the Western consumer - slick, sweet, Korean-but-with-a-Western-feel-to-it, and everything an American group could do the Kpop idols should be able to do - only BETTER. They would HAVE to, to be noticed and make an impact. Think "a woman in a man's world". So professional levels of training in dance, singing, rapping, styling, you name it. They're just saying it's not a Korean-specific problem or an "evil" industry starting this system out of nowhere - it's built on how manifactured Western boy- and girl bands were a success, how the sports industry grooms their stars from a young age, etc. And yes, the Koreans in general probably have a much more nuanced view of the industry than the Westerners who only read the "shocking reveal" articles do.
With how advanced the cameras and technologies now, anyone should have to wear make up to even look at least decent in the monitors. They do add a certain kind of element that makes the visuals even more eye-catching.. some really hated because they said it was for sissy or for girls. But to look at it logically in terms of technologies and using HD cams, it is best if you wear make up. Otherwise, anyone would look weird in HD cams.. 😅
The reason why Jimin get flat reaction from his friends when tbey are debut, that because they debut under small company. Lot of idol who debut under small company will not stay for a long time in industry due lack of money for promotion or keeps going (idol group from small company usually disbanded 1-2 years after debut, or even so many of them disband after several of months even 1 week after debut). Only idol from big company can survive for a long time. That why mostly people in korea not bother to check out or support idol from small company coz they thought they will not going around for a long time, so why bother to check them out or support them. That why Jimin's friend not really care if he have debut coz they predicted it wont last for a long time (it's not just Jimin's friend have that thought, everyone will have that thoughts too, including the member's family that they wont make it for a long time coz that what happened to mostly an idol from small company)
BTS always positive, solo mixtapes by RM and SUGA, they let it fly and many rappers learned very quickly they will rip you a new one if you don't stop the lies and hate. Listen to Joke, and cyphers 1-4. Suga's nevermind, you'll see the other side pretty quick.
@@Oo_myl_oO yes and we reacted to both of them on our YT channel. The video comes out this month. Those are probably my 2 most favorite BTS songs so far.

Exactly right about the respect for their fan and dont forget their input in their music, Bang PD didnt want puppets, he purpusly chose young talented boys who he guided to develop great artist qualities. The authenticity in their craft is really the best aspect about them considering the laws of the kpop industry
Very well said!
24:58 v Jimin and Jungkook were all still in school when they debuted, Jin continued to attend college as well

15:24 Korean music shows don’t really have much to do with talent, the awards are determined by digital sales, physical sales, votes, radio plays, etc. The thing that made it hard for bts if anything was that some artists were given their awards simply because their company paid the music show. The only thing to do with solely their talent is that they are trying to showcase their talents, but not showcasing it just for an award
18:42 BTS were in fact hated an incredible amount by numerous people for standing up against injustices, multiple songs of theirs have been banned from being played on radios in Korea because of the messages in them

You are 100% correct 👍
Thanks for your response and your support 😊💜😊💜
Hey thanks for your in-depth comment. We appreciate your feedback and your undying love and support 😊💜😊💜
Thanks for watching and for your comment and support 😊💜😊💜
@@GreyMinerva thanks for explaining
they rarely even do lives without make up now.
@@LPnerd sounds super awesome and amazing 🤩
Thank you for your support.
toxic masculinity vibe 😢
Yeah it’s hard to see how this industry has effected them negatively
70s and 80s pop stars always wore lots of make up too, as well as the glam rock and hair metal bands.
@@Bolachas25 👍👍
IDK. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m glad you guys touched on the fan service!!

Thanks for your comment and support 😊💜😊💜
Yes they are referring to Americans and bascially saying we got the system from the USA (mo town for instance.) Who would scout people off the streets from church choirs then train them how to dress, the make up teach them how to present themselves on camera, train them to sing etc etc. I knew they were talking about straight away even though I'm not American. Yes those are American Articles, plus BBC did a in depth report as well but it was both sides of the good and the bad.
Good to know
you also have 2 seasons of In the Soop, and 3 or 4 seasons of Bon voyage! and don't forget a few years of Run BTS variety show, Burn the stage movie and documentary, bring the soul, permission to dance, I'm forgetting stuff, ARMY Help! 💜 All their live stuff concerts. I love watching with you guys.
Awesome thanks 😊
Hi guys I just wanted to say that I appreciate that you’re being honest. I’m a fan of BTS but that doesn’t mean that I like all of their songs It’s nice to see people actually saying that they don’t prefer a certain song than lie and saying they like it.
( if this is bad written sorry English is not my first language)
Totally agree and we thank you for your comment and support 👍💜👍💜
Thank you for watching our video and we appreciate your response. Thank you for all of your love and support.
@@crystalsnow1138
You are absolutely correct 👍
Thanks for your reply and your support 😊💜😊💜

Totally makes sense
Thanks for clarifying this for us
there are two of the most realest groups out there in my opinion and thats bts who started everything, and stray kids
I can agree with that👍🔥
Thank you for the reaction 💜

Good morning all! Part 6 is my favorite💜🫠.

Thanks 😊
Greeting from France, this documentaires of Bangtan are amazing, keep going, 😊👍
Thanks 😊
Men wearing makeup is just returning to norms. Because makeup was invented for _men._ So were high heels.
Awesome
Can’t wait for this trend to come to the USA 🇺🇸 I’ll be the first one in the makeup line and at the shoe stores getting my sexy makeup and high heels 👠
I’m going to be a hottie and the woman won’t be able to resist me 😂
Thank you for your reaction, rise of bangtan part 3 please
Coming out next Monday at 4am. We post one new episode every Monday at 4am.

Lots of content in the weverse app too. The RUN BTS and IN THE SOOP are there too.
Oh good idea. I forgot about the weverse app
I remember my brother coming back from such a show where a classmate competed and being very angry with the people there and the disregard for the forced audience.)
As said in the boxes to win you need not only votes from the audience and from people watching but also streams and sales.
The result being that fanclubs seem to actually be the ones who massivly buy albums directly from the Korean labels.)
Some of your questions are answered in later episodes: about food and training.
Thank you for watching this! 💜
Thank you for your detailed response. We appreciate you watching our video and your support 👍💜👍💜
I love your reaction on this one,its too good👍 waiting for next one
Thanks
Next one coming out next Monday at 4am
there are more women watching the music shows than men so the boy groups are the advantaged ones
You are so right
omg cant wait!!

Thanks for sharing this with us 😊
you never can make every body happy, beside you can put also energy out off the negative, if you can the negative translate to positive. if you can do that then you beter can ignore the negative and that can be hard but if you let the negative get you you also can get negative.
Very true
Nice to see laws in place to protect these young idols
I think the word you’re looking for with other guides to other artists is they’re manufactured
All students not necessary to have clear vision about future. Wat if they fail like other idol groups. Who takes responsibilty for future.
True. You are right.

Hugs. Later's. -NY USA Army💟 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💟

This is a great series! (Cr: "FY" on yt)

There's literally a word for "You worked hard" that Koreans say, "수고하셨습니다" (sugohaseupnida). It's a part of their culture.
Mint said on 4/2/22
Yup.
Now i know that u know this, but this is for a lil background info and things to be notice in first two chapters for your wife to read & know 😊
I think it's important to notice the differences between BTS' worries and the other trainees worries.
(Cr: "Shannon" on yt)
Now plz understand this 1st episode shows two sides, one is typical k-pop system and how the labels/industry work, whereas subtle hints of BTS and bighit being contradictory different is shown, BTS is different from other K-pop groups and BigHit is different from other idol music companies. (Cr: "Kayla Kulik" on yt)

Hey! ok so a couple things that aren't mentioned in the video that I found interesting when i learned about them:
1- the clip where Bang PD mentions they clear all other schedules when they're preparing for a comeback, that's actually a big deal because the company was struggling at that time and the guys all used to work side jobs to make revenue for the company.

Thank you for your comment and for watching our videos. We appreciate your support 😊💜😊💜
@DAN&JREACTS, first I like to say that I commend you on your respect for the Korean pop music and BTS other reactors don’t really care they’re just reacting for views and clout and they don’t even respond to the comment section! 🙏🏼Thank you
One of your questions that you wanted to know is if the American or western media are crapping on K-pop or BTS well yes as of the past five years K-pop has really started to dominate the American charts when they only used to dominate the Asian charts. now that they’re more internationally known not just BTS ,”really pave the way“ for other K-pop 4th Generation to gain their popularity in the western music scene.
You guys have been reacting to K-pop and BTS because you find it interesting you wanna learn more about it and you don’t wanna do what everybody else is doing as far as the TikTok and twitch kind of thing where they upload kind of childish post and I commend you for that for being interested and serious!👏
Don’t worry we understand you have a busy schedule people have busy lives and as long as you guys wanna continue to know more about K-pop or BTS you know the fandom will be here to support discuss and help you because we know that you guys are sincere and want to continue learning more about the Korean culture, the music, and maybe Korean food 🥘
Sending love from Michigan💜🙏🏼BoraHae 💜

U cant say brutal word for female idol group which choreography not done by them. That day male idols also performed greatly.

After you watch the rise of bangtan, I think you’ll be ready to react to RMs wildflower. You’ll get a better understanding for the lyrics and sentiments
Ok thanks 😊
I dont know if someone has talked about this but yes, it is definitely the Western media that say those things about kpop. They still do it today...Billboard is especially notorious for it.
And you talked about the negative comments...RM, as the only speaker at the beginning, wouldnt translate the negative bs so that the other members wouldnt be upset. He took all that on himself as leader to protect his brothers, which makes him, imo, so much more impressive.
Yea you are right
@DANDJREACT and yes, they all go to the gym.
@@rochelledunlap9993 I couldn’t eat chicken breasts everyday. Boring 😅
At 41:20
Do they go to gym?
Yes all kpop artist must do body weight exercises to stay fit
And their dance practice is not 6 hours a day. Its 12-16 hours everyday.
Their diet? Sometimes they dont eat but just take water for fee days to keep a slim body or just eat 1 piece chicken a day
Makes sense
I think your dad is 2 kool 4 skool❤
That’s what all the ladies say 😂
Btw re diet and exercise
They do both
Very very weight conscious for on camera work
Diets have been v extreme for some
Suga lived on chicken breast banana and grape juice smoothies because taking time to chew was too much trouble
Jin lived on 2 packs of chicken only per day til he became malnourished
Jimin on his 1 meal 10 day regime
But dieting before promotions is still the case but I think as they’ve gotten older they have made better decisions…
Still jimin who is 5’8-5’9 was 59 k ( 130 lbs) while filming the MV’s on his face album this year…
Wow, thank you for this information. This is what we were looking for.
And I SERIOUSLY HATE that birthday prank - he is SO vulnerable, being a literal kid, the youngest one on set, and no way to defend himself against critique, and then "Haha, got you good" - but he is just left reeling, needing to make sure it was ACTUALLY all a prank. (That last double-check, "The director was acting too?" because he has to make SURE...)
I suppose you could say that you need to be toughened up if you're going to make it in the industry, but still - being left to wonder if you can trust the people around you is Not Cool in my book.
The birthday prank was a little over the top I felt bad for him

Thanks for the info and clarification 😊💜😊💜
@@TripTipsPodcast I just wanna add. After his shoulder surgery in late 2021 Yoongi/SUGA has had to do physio and is since then in working out too. 😀
Suga definitely works and out talks about how he often runs into people at the Hyde gym. Part of his training is rapping/singing with cardio as well.
@@BrilliantHuman oh that’s pretty cool 👍
Makes a lot of sense
Their age shown is Korean age so you can reduce 2 yrs is correct western age.
Ok thanks 😊
With how advanced the cameras and technologies now, anyone should have to wear make up to even look at least decent in the monitors. They do add a certain kind of element that makes the visuals even more eye-catching.. some really hated because they said it was for sissy or for girls. But to look at it logically in terms of technologies and using HD cams, it is best if you wear make up. Otherwise, anyone would look weird in HD cams.. 😅
Agreed
Thank you for your comment 👍💜👍💜
BTS always positive, solo mixtapes by RM and SUGA, they let it fly and many rappers learned very quickly they will rip you a new one if you don't stop the lies and hate. Listen to Joke, and cyphers 1-4. Suga's nevermind, you'll see the other side pretty quick.

@DANDJREACT Quick question: If you guys love Rock & Rap, Have you listened to J-hope's More and Arson?
@@Oo_myl_oO yes and we reacted to both of them on our YT channel. The video comes out this month. Those are probably my 2 most favorite BTS songs so far.
@@TripTipsPodcast oh really? I don't see it anywhere. Would it be on Patreon?
