    Chou vs hans kyknya cuma pas garis,in. Tpi jd jauh di dlm garis. Shida susah payah jangkau sutlecock dan wasit anggap udah nyentuh lapangan. Sdgkan sapsire yg ngembaliin suttlecock pantulan malah di sahkan wasit. Kyknya mmg perlu VAR. Penyiaran bwf udah bagus.tinggal minta ulangan video aja,dan wasit bisa liat buat ngerubah kputusan awal. Di saat hawk eye jg udah ber-kali" terlihat error.

      Umpires and line judges are only human and make mistakes, but they are mostly right. If they do not act sure players will take advantage and challenge every decision. Allowing video review (if available) would be a step forward.
      Please remember that they are unpaid volunteers who give their free time for the sport.

    • @machum1137
      @machum1137 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@pauldodd2120 Players cant simply just challenge umpires' decision though, because we do have a referee in court. So such acts that obviously go against the rules will certainly be noticed by the referee. In this case, we want to highlight that umpires should be more considerate and fair in umpiring the game.
      Lastly, umpires certainly get paid so they are expected to do their best in their professional job. While there are unpaid volunteers who serve as linesmen, it doesn't give them the right or pass to judge the line poorly in-game, is not it? Especially not in the world-class game? Don't you think so.

    i think badminton should follow football's VAR system, where you just show a slow motion replay multiple times to the umpire/judge and they can see/judge if its in or not. and i think this system is much cheaper than Hawkeye for sure and is definitely more reliable.

    Thanks for the video. The graphic display from Hawkeye placed it wrongly as well within the baseline (Singles - He Bing Jao). It should have display marginally within the end edge of the baseline. It look out at first but if you look carefully at the angle of the shuttle, it is leaning slightly away from the vertical. This placed the cock semi-circle edge within the end edge of the baseline. Lately, they have been careful to display the correct representation and not just simply put a dark circle on a line to indicate that it was in.
    As for those shots taken twice, which is not allowed, the umpire may have not notice it and he/she cannot rule if they did not see. If it was me, since there was a protest and I did not see it, I will call both sides to explain the situation and offer a compromise by proposing playing a let. Of course, the winning side would say no but at the very least, I try to do something rather than seat on the chair and remain inert.

    Since badminton has grow heavily over the past years, I think they should look at how other sports invested better in their technology to make the game a lot fair. Volleyball is one sport badminton should look into with their challenge system, from touching the net, line calls where the cameras broadcasted has a better effect on the Hawkeye decision, and double hits from players. Currently nothing has changed until the Hawkeye introduction in 2013-14 and BWF have enough funding to invest in better technology to keep the sport fair

    that's why linemen are really important on sports that has outside ruling. even if it's as small as a badminton court.
    as the umpire in the middle won't an accurate call if the ball goes down below his height (because of how high his chair is)
    on badminton the game is always a 1v1v1 on singles and 2v2v1 on doubles
    VAR isn't even 100% reliable yet. a physical camera is your most trustworthy ally on most games.

      It's not Hawkeye, but IRS (Instant Review System). The problem is that unlike Hawkeye, the point where the shuttle lands is placed manually from highspeed frames for the simulation, so there is an element of human error, especially when it was first introduced. It's rare that the decision is wrong, but the placement of the shuttle may often seem unrelated to reality.

    Badminton is very fast-paced game. There is always a scope for a wrong judgement (intentional and unintentional) by both players and the umpire. A better review system should be in place. Umpires should acknowledge their missjudgement. And players should show better sportmanship e.g body contact, double hit, in/out decition. But again, it's a fast game so, sometimes, players themselves are unaware of thier mistakes. There are quiet a few examples of good sportmanship, especially in MS (e.g. Viktor gave away a point by intentionally doing a wrong serve).

    I think there should be a test for umpires, including an EYESIGHT test. Most of the umpires are old and I doubt that they all have the best vision. Another test should be of common sense. There should be an official umpire making school or something cause one personal mistake can destroy someones match or even their ENTIRE career .

    Hawk-Eye uses cameras to calculate the motion verses actually "seeing" where things land. I wouldn't trust it since it makes assumptions like spin and wind/air speed. That's why when high-speed and high resolution cameras on close calls can show Hawk-eye as inaccurate, which is when you want it to be accurate the most. That's the only time it matters, right? When things are super close and crucial to the outcome of a match/contest? For badminton's small court size, a good high-speed camera replay system would be better than calculating trajectories.
