to understand the video we have to be aware of the theories haha, in conclusion, in this video EXO (the good guys) fight against X-EXO (the bad guys), and the effects on the voices too, the predominant one is EXO and the effects " robotic "are X-EXO. In the end the earth is burning because X-EXO won the fight (because EXO isn't complete, three members are missing in this video.), X-EXO are the envoys of the red force.

What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows and Suho controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. You see the planet on fire in the end of the MV because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc.
X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are battling for control. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc.
Everything EXO is involved in, and I literally mean almost everything, is connected in some way to their concept and storyline. EXO's MVs are kind of like a movie -- it's a movie that has been going on for the past 8 years -- since predebut -- and it has no sign of coming to an end any time soon. The one thing you have to keep in mind with all of EXO's MVs, and I really mean all of them -- including their sub-sub-unit MVs and a majority of the member's solo MVs. And because Baekhyun and Kai are involved, even SuperM's storyline -- is that they are all connected and they all tell a little more of EXO's story and why they are on Earth, etc.
To truly understand EXO you need to understand that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and It is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept. So to really understand EXO you need to start from the very beginning and watch both of their "Mama" MVs. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers.
Exo, as in exoskeleton, means "outer," so as a member of EXO they are outside the ordinary.The group's concept comes from the real term exoplanet, which is a term that is used for a planet that is outside our solar system, so their name was chosen to represent the fact that they are stars that are "out of this world" when it comes to their talents. EXO's concept is also connected to real life planetary and solar events, so several of EXO's comebacks and new song releases for the main group of EXO are timed to when eclipses and other planetary phenomenons take place. For example, their comeback for their War album and Power repackaged album coincided with when we had a solar eclipse, etc. SM Entertainment, and its founder, Lee SooMan, has all of EXO's release dates and concepts planned out for years in advance, and it often has something to do with real celestial events that are predicted to take place.
Now you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So to really understand their full origin story you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO- M version focuses on the M members and their powers.
However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 of the members. Kris and Luhan left in 2014 and Tao left in 2015.) However, now, because they no longer have enough Chinese members they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group EXO with 9 members. However, in the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because 2 of the members -- D.O. and Xiumin -- are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military; and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay -- their Chinese member -- was unable to participate in activities with the group.
So each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. However, the introduction of "Obsession's" part of the story really threw all of our theories for a loop and it has made us question everything we have ever thought was happening in EXO's storyline. Since "Obsession" some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO and at times we have been watching X-EXO, -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovering that it hasn't necessarily been EXO the whole time.
With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside the window as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV.
Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's "Jopping" storyline. If you have seen "Jopping," you may remember what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in that MV. Those outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in "Obsession." Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs. Which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. So because the members in black are supposed to be the EXO members who are the good guys, it seems to also indicate that the members who are in SuperM are the EXO members and not their X-EXO clones. So it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, EXO has gathered the best of the best of SM's groups to help them battle the Red Force and maybe eventually take down X-EXO. Just like how the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate super group to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force.
The guy with the sword or saber is Baekhyun and the guy with the crop top that shows off his abs is Kai, these are the members of EXO who are also members of SuperM.
Unfortunately,, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all.
To help you pinpoint the powers being used in their MVs and live performances here is a list of the members and what their special power is.
EXO-K
💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho)
💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light
🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix.
🌏D.O. (Do KyungSoo) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control earth (dirt) which gives him strength/force
☄Kai (Kim JongIn) is a main dancer, lead vocalist and sub-rapper and his power is teleportation. (Kai means door or gateway, so his stage name symbolizes his role within EXO's storyline.)
🌪Sehun is the youngest member of the group and he is a lead rapper, lead dancer and a vocalist -- his power is the ability to control wind
EXO-M
❄Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) is the oldest member of the group and he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper and his power is the ability to control snow/ice (frost)
🦄 Lay (Zhang Yixing) is the Chinese member of the group, he is a main dancer, lead vocalist and rapper -- his power is the ability to heal anything.
🌩 Chen (Kim JongDae) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control thunder/lightning/electricity
(As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M because they are the Korean members of the Chinese unit)

It's actually hard to explain about the story of the MV because their concept is just complicated but beautiful. The theory is hard to understand (for me) lol. Thanks for reacting to EXO. I hope you can react to more EXO. Lotto would be a great choice to react next in EXO.

For some new kpop fans its hard to stan exo, since they got tons of history already and its hard to absorb their concept that has been running since debut and its on going on every album. Unlike other kpop groups, they change concept, while exo is a story from debut.
There are lots of distorted voices in the mv. I believe they meant to have it due to their concept in this era. The EXO we all know, is actually not the EXO we had been seeing since 2015. These guys were clones, probably robots made by the Red Force thus the Distorted voice, which tells us that the clones are present. The distorted voice can also be heard in Tempo, plus the glitches, their main track before Obsession and we can see in the mv that the real EXO are inside the cubes (u can see their shadows ) while the clones are diverting the attention to them.

When I first listened the song I thought the same, that it was releated to a sick releathionship, then i thought that it was about sick fans that follow them. But now I think that it is a more profound meaning that is releated with the concept of the comeback. You have EXO and X-EXO that represent Hyde and Jekyll personalities that we humas have and how sometimes in an specific moment of our lives, we are consume but this part that has fear, that is tired, that wants to give up. As you can see they are not complete in tearms of numbers of members already.
At the end there is a specific part that says something like in the mirror there is a shadow that was following him and it is himself, the dark side of himself. In the video you can watch that they are fighting and in the end it seems that they can not win, because this dark side is part of themselves, so the final solution is self-destruction (in the last part of the coreography they literally break their necks.

When they debuted, EXO had 12 members including 4 members from China consisting of Xiumin, Luhan, Kris, Suho, Lay, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, DO, Tao, Kai, and Sehun and divided into 2 units namely EXO-K which specifically sing songs in Korean and EXO-M who specifically sing songs in Mandarin.

However, in May 2014, Kris filed a contract termination lawsuit against SM Entertainment, the reason for Kris leaving was because the agency contract was deemed to violate human rights. Followed by Luhan in October 2014 who dropped a contract termination lawsuit against SM because he felt badly mistreated by the agency, and he felt that the agency was putting too much pressure on the members with practice time without rest and a very busy overseas concert schedule.
In 2015, it was Tao's turn to leave EXO because of his health problems. Actually Tao didn't want to leave the group but because of a request from his father who was also worried about his health, Tao decided to ask for his contract termination and now EXO only has 9 members left.
Now, Let's Talk About Exo's Theory:
this theory starts from the MV MAMA era to the MV Monster
There is one of the lyrics in the song Monster, namely "you call me monster" and "you can call me monster". The first word means you here can be said to be human. In fact, something like aliens, ghosts, or anything that feels foreign and dangerous to us, we often think of as monsters, right? Now the second word means: you can call me a monster, well maybe this word is a kind of approval from EXO members about what they really are.
So who is EXO?
Maybe if I think if you remember their previous Music Videos, like History, MAMA, and Wolf, they are some kind of immortal or in short they are kind of aliens, because even in MAMA's mv they have shown their super powers. Their goal is to come to earth to prove their superpower to the world.
Initially their existence on earth ran so smoothly, it was proven in mv Wolf and when they arrived on earth they tried to blend in by disguising themselves as ordinary students.
But over time, their guise was revealed. Scientists have started targeting them. Eventually they were trapped, maybe the trap here can be interpreted as their limited space because humans (scientists) have spoken. The proof of the trap is the labyrinth (mv Overdose and Lucky One), but at this early stage they can break free.
We continue to mv Miracle in December and Call Me Baby.
The song Miracle in December might convey their gratitude because they were able to escape from that trap. In this MV, it is obvious that they continue to watch the lunar eclipse. In the end, they all decided to split up in several countries (teaser mv Call Me Baby).

Besides, no matter how far they ran they were still in the same place. Even here they are still trying to escape. Then there is Sehun's part where he is on the train tracks, from some of the anime I've watched most people think that the end of a rail (tunnel) is the exit.
At the beginning, mv seemed to be a flashback of their togetherness before being caught, but gradually some members were seen disappearing. Disappearing here may mean that they were taken away by scientists to be researched. In addition, on MV Miracle in December, an incident that also occurred when a woman approached Sehun but apparently the woman disappeared.
We move on to MV Sing for you In this MV draws sadness as well as deep pressure from EXO members, Because they are trapped for too long, their emotions become uncontrollable (mv Sing for You) seen from Suho and Chanyeol who were involved in a fight. The meaning of the song....well, could be many! According to the video, it is about each member fighting with his darker alter ego (which can represent their obssessive dark emotions that they want to get rid of, as they are quite negative); but also the theory that this song refers to their obssessive fans (known as ''sasaengs'') has been quite famous. If you read the lyrics alone, its normal that you reach the conclusion that its about a toxic relationship (one obssessed with the other, although the other wants to end the relationship for good).

Aaron impresses me again! SM has the best mixing in my opinion, and their songs production is flawless (you can explore that more in SM b-sides too). With exo I think it's better to start from the very beginning (2012), they were undoubtedly the best and biggest in Kpop, and their albums were actual golds (I think you will like them a lot).
