imagine if there's no one like you who is willing to inspire people through his great voice and great guitar skills...thank you sir..your a great mentor in guitar ...
You hammer your little finger on the G string of the third fret while still in the Fmaj7 chord shape then very quickly do the same with your index finger on the B string first fret. It does take a little practice to get the timing right but it will make doing other hammer on's from other songs easier :)
Alan, I saw another video showing how to play this song. The other guy was picking with his fingers and kept messing up. Whenever I watch your videos you make it simple and fairly easy to learn. I already know most of the chords used and what I really love about the Guitar is that a song can be played different ways but sound just the same. The diagrams are really helpful so I can tell what you're doing. Keep up the great work, I have every intention of learning this tune the way you play it. Thanks so much! Peace!
Best tutorial i found in youtube, the others that appear on top were to slow and repetitive, didnt get to the point and didnt have tabs, I enjoyed this and I learned the song very fast while playing along , thanks a lot man.
The way you play it through first and show the chords while playing is perfect. Other tutorials the fellows talk, "First finger on 2nd fret of the e string..blah, blah..") I learned by listening to records (yes LP's) and if I was lucky someone like you was around to watch. I really like the tone of your voice, and you are the only one who sings as far as I know. It really helps with the timing (and you don't spend forever on saying "down, down, up, up, down, up...ugh!) Thanks from Toronto.
Hi If you mean the hammer-ons after the Fmaj7 I suggest that you concentrate on repeating those slowly then up to speed one after another for say 3 sets of 10 or 20 seconds a few times a day until they become smooth. Also, it might help to pluck the G string down and the B string up. This type of playing is all about repetition until you don't consciously have to think about what you are doing too much; it can seem a bit boring but does yeild results. I hope this helps. Cheers. Alan :)
so glad i found u, after an accident with my left hand and the loss of approx 1/4 of that hand i lost my ring finger,i used to play this im struggling relearning as im 55 and had to put my fender acoustic away for last 10 or so yrs,i learnt to play at 9. i am awakened again thank you as i am starting to get back easy stuff like this,i am truly grateful thanks to you
Hi Maria, this is the only way I can explain it: You pluck and hammer your little finger on the G string of the third fret while still in the Fmaj7 chord shape then very quickly pluck and do the same with your index finger on the B string first fret. It does take a little practice to get the timing right but it will make doing other hammer on's from other songs easier :)
Mr. Robinson i just wanted to personally thank you for your lessons and i hope you keep adding more, it was thru your videos that everything started to click for me with connecting chords so forever THANK YOU!
Hi To recreate the melody of the song; while making the Fmaj7 shape I am hammering on the G string with my little finger then straight away hammering on the B string with my index finger then strumming the bass notes of the C chord. Its all about the timing. It can be a bit tricky at first but if you persevere, you will get there. Hope this helps. Cheers. Alan :)
Yes Eric, you hammer your little finger on the G string of the third fret while still in the Fmaj7 chord shape then very quickly do the same with your index finger on the B string first fret. It does take a little practice to get the timing right but it will make doing other hammer on's from other songs easier :)
I love your teaching method. Very clear n concise. I didn't have to start n stop the video unlike other youtube guitar videos. I learnt this song without much heartache - thank you so much. Now I just have to play it faster, smoother n master the F barre chord. Thank you :0)
