@@andreipop5805 Hi there - It’s called a palm mute; you have to place your hand across all the strings on a down strum a fraction of a second before the pick hits. It’s all about timing and finding the best position for your hand to make contact. It took me a few days of practice (on and off in bursts of about 10 minutes 3 or 4 times a day) but It was worth it. I hope this helps. Best of luck. Alan :)
Alan Robinson . I agree with oldePac.. best tutorial bar none.. no long waffling intros.. straight to the learning with your brilliant edited and easy to follow videos. Thank you my friend.
I love how you take a big, complex song and shrink it down to something anybody can play with just their guitar and still sound great. A ton of the songs I know I learned from you. Keep it up!
Hello, I'm 54 yers old, I started playing the guitar for a short time. Thank you very much for your guitar videos, they are excellent and they allow me to progress quickly ... Again thank you for what you do. Do you have a facebook page? Greetings ... Pierre. (Le Mans - France)
I like the way you give us a lesson. You don't even speak that much. Its all about watching you playing. I follow your lots of video. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Its called Palm Muting; you have to cover or dampen all the strings with your hand a split second before you make the downstrum. Its a bit tricky to get the timing at first, but with a little practice it will become second nature :)
Hi, I am a complete beginner, but seem to have a bit of a knack, only had my guitar as a crimbo present, but have learned picking intro to scarborough fair, and have always loved this song, your way of showing has really helped me with this song, so thank you, unfortunately my atemps sound nothing like yours, am still struggling with the F, but I will keep practicing. thanks.
Its called Palm Muting; you have to cover or dampen all the strings with your hand a split second before you make the downstrum. Its a bit tricky to get the timing at first, but with a little practice it will become second nature. I hit the strings pretty hard and I have not snapped any yet :)
Smart one. Showing the strumming directions. Haven't seen that before. That helps a bunch surprised most other guitar lesson vids don't show that, guess they're lazy or don't realize how much easier and faster that make the song to learn. Good lesson and skills.
Just a guy and his guitar(s), voice + cool songs. Thanks again, Alan. My exercises extended from a few minutes a week to at least an hour a day. Your channel seems to be the booster detonation I needed to get back to handmade music. Thanks man, thanks. Cheers from germany.
I'm trying to play this song for a while, and your tutorial is the best one arround in my opinion, so thanks you very much, really. Still I feel like I'll never be good enought to play it right. I'll keep trying with your help. Greetings from Chile.
Hi David, thank you for your kind words. Learning guitar is tough at the start but continued practice does lead to improvement, you just have to maintain your dedication and motivation. Best of luck, I hope you keep at it. Best wishes from Wales :)
Thank you for this video...I'm a beginner and this is the first song I'm learning although I'm doing the strumming a little different this video help me on how to play the chords with the lyrics... Thank you.!
@baztherazful Hi there! Its a Jim Dunlop USA Nylon .60mm I always use these, I have never had one shatter while fast strumming and they have enough spring in them not to snap the strings. They have a pretty good grip but I sometimes add a small layer of blue/white tac either side to help with some songs. Cheers. Alan.
Hi I don't use any dedicated software. I create the graphics using Adobe Photoshop and add them a frame at a time to raw fooatge using Adobe Premiere Elements :)
Hi there That is the first real "wall" that new guitarists come up against. There is no easy answer, you just have to keep practicing; a few minutes a day changing from an open chord to F and back should see improvement after a week or so. But it is worth the effort. Cheers. Alan :)
I just found you!!! Omg 😲 Your tutorial vid is amazing! This is how every vid should be! Cord changes, strum pattern, your singing with the chart, Awesome 👏 I can't wait to watch more! I'm literally in shock of how well thought out your structure is. I have searched for this song & every one plays it so complicated. Sorry for the ramble, but I just subscribed after one vid. Can I ask a question?
How do you swing down usually the second time so it dosn't make the same time?
It's like a deaf version of the swing.
