    Did my first 100 miler yesterday, loved it. But that route looks so much nicer! Gonna have to consider that one for sure.

    I've done several 100 mile rides, but that was about 5 years ago.
    This July I'll be going to Japan for a month long vacation and will buy a road bike while I'm there! So I plan to do at least one or maybe two 100-200k rides :)

    Going to Paris and riding 134 miles to Arras first day, 94 miles second day to Zebrugga then 70 miles Hull to Leeds, that fist day will be tough !!!

      If it involves a fist (!) it will be sore, too.

    Finished riding Taipei to Yilan (Taiwan) yesterday. Would have appreciated one of those bikes for the gruelling 60km climb. Instead had a very old touring bike with a tent strapped to the back. Love the videos.

    In a few months, two of us are touring to Slovenia from London... It's going to be epic with an average of 100 miles per day and often exceeding 10,000ft of climbing per day, crossing Switzerland in a day! Ollie, help me out with some new kit ;)

    One thing that I thought was interesting was that none of the boys wore gloves, on a long ride! I would like to see a segment talking about the why's and why nots of gloves for bike riders. I personally try to avoid gloves except in cold weather, because I find my hands hurt more with them than without them.

    Did Whitehaven to Tynemouth in a day. 135 miles, including up the ryals. Thought I was going to die. So, can you do that next?

    • @jeffbrunton3291

      Did Whitehaven to Redcar in 6 hours 38 minutes for charity ( on the road ) 125 miles including all sandwich and coffee stops. I was taking it easy as well because it was for charity and I knew I had to finish, found it quite easy.

      Its a nice route and you can overnight at the YHA in Okehampton for a more leisurely 2 days. Those hills referred to are a little harder with 20kg in panniers, but all rideable on my loaded up CX bike. I did it last August and used the Sustrans map.

  • @JogBird
    @JogBird 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    you really dont need an 'endurance' bike for a hundred miles imo
    just put fatter tyres on if needed

    I would have gotten more out of it if you had switched bikes every 25 miles and critically assessed each, and ranked them. But then you'd probably only have one sponsor, not four....

      Just got exactly this Endurace 8.0 Aero on Friday and my first ride yesterday... coming from trecking-bikes and having a proper road-bike first time for over 20 years again... this Endurace feels so much snappier.

    My son dreams of being a pro cyclist, how do i tell him that hard work,good nutrition and determination will not be enough. How do i tell him he will have to lie and cheat and betray his morals and ethics to be sucessful, how do i tell him he will have to take steroids, EPO, blood transfusions, cortisone, testosterone, human growth hormone and pretend to have asthma (how ridiculous is that, top athletes with asthma) so he can take salbutamol. He will have to become a dishonest man to have any chance of competing.

    • @adamcoatham
      @adamcoatham 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Paul Vamben How ridiculous is top athletes with asthma? Simple research (a quick Google) into exercise-induced asthma can very simply explain it.

    • @paulvamben3861
      @paulvamben3861 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah, asthma attacks and TUE's that precisely coincide with big tours like Sir Bradley's, of course mate, sounds perfectly plausible.

    • @richardggeorge
      @richardggeorge 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was a top athlete with undiagnosed exercise induced asthma. Never took any drugs as I thought it was normal to cough and wheez after a running race

    • @paulvamben3861
      @paulvamben3861 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you saying that salbutamol is not being abused to enhance performance Richard? Do you think my son can win The Tour racing clean?

    • @nootnoot1463
      @nootnoot1463 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Paul Vamben
      Well it’s very unlikely your son has the drive and motivation, never mind the genetics to win a tour. So with or without doping, your son almost definitely won’t win the tour
