I think this recipe has been done a million times on social media the last 10 years, but your take was rly unique and Im gonna try the green sauce on my buns
Don't limit the challenges! Can also go up against Flat Top King, Tommy at Backyard Gallery and of course the WalTwins, Postal BBQ, Kosmo, and a few others....
A genius tip double grinding the meat thank you, love doing smash burgers but they fall apart, bits of meat everywhere. Hope my butcher can do it for me or I’ll get a grinder.
Hey pitmasterx (Roel), I know you rarely answer questions in the comments but perhaps you can make an exception. As a fellow dutchman, I tried to order Chuck a couple of times at my local butchershop. But they don't seem to know this cut out here in the Netherlands. How do they call it in Holland? Or what comes closest? (Ofcourse, anyone who knows may answer. Thanx in advance)
this why i always put ketchup on but the way you did that trick with parmesan onions sandwiching is genius its like cheating, AND NO BRIOCHE CAKE burger big plus guga does it too much
Your son has a very good knife action and that finger guard is a neat idea. I went to the Forged website but it is broken. Not sure if it is because I am in Canada. Burger looks great.
Just made this and it was actually rank. The green sauce only adds a grassy taste which does not belong. It's also too greasy, and the pressing of the patty into the onions reduces the caramelization and leaves it undercooked unless you cremate it. The smashburger is best when kept simple. Still love ya Pitmaster X, just not this!
I've been following you for a very long time. And i have enjoyed everything you've cooked. But, I'm going to have to be negative Nancy here. Yes you smashed your burger. But, with all the ingredients, you wasn't competing with the smash burger industry. Your competing with McDonalds, Burger King, Whataburger, etc. Because of all the extra sauce and ingredients. You turned a smash burger into a fast food burger. White castle is famous. But they stole the recipe. They started in Wichita Kansas. But, the original smash burger came from Salina Kansas. The Oklahoma smash burger? Ya, that came from white castle and Cozy Inn burgers. Who, have been in business, in the same building since 1923. They just celebrated their 100 year anniversary. What im getting at, the smash burger has a only a few seasonings. Basic. With onions. When you add all these ingredients, you are no longer in the smash burger category. Now you're in the hamburger category.
@@markwindholz816 a burger is about meat everything else is there to compliment it. The first hamburger was made with slices of bread but today its buns so the minor differences around the meat didnt determine burger classification. While ages ago someone may have invented a specific recipe that doesnt mean a minor change of bun or few extra toppings is going to change a recipe titled after its meat thickness and preparation method. Its like saying whoever invented mac and cheese only did it with macaroni and cheese and if you add bacon bits its no longer mac and cheese
@starc. First off, reread my original comment. I'm not the one who was adding toppings. I was criticizing them for adding toppings and comparing it to a smash burger. Second. The two key ingredients in smash burgers are meat and onions. In my comment, I was telling them the history of the smash burger. The original. And who came up with it first. That was the point of my comment. Not one thing about toppings has anything to do with the origination of the smash burger. So, your replies are baseless.

Most certainly going to try this also!!
love your vids and your recipes
Thanks!!!
You need to make a video with Guga! You guys are awesome.
Wonderful episode! Love the inclusion of your son! BBQ is about eating good food with good people, and that includes family... sometimes. ;)
How long are you supposed to have the smashed burger cook on the griddle?
? Hey Pitmaster, what grind size do you use?
I have the same grinder setup. I love grinding my own but wife thinks it’s too “chunky”.
I use the smallest size, but double grind with the smash burger
Awesome!
Thanks
Son's assessment was no BS. He couldn't taste the pickles because they were laid towards the middle! Honest assessment!
Guga is THE BEST smash burger maker in the world!!!
I will take two to go!
excellent 😀😀
that green sauce is the only unique thing I saw and it is super ez to make lol
nice.
you and Guga need a show-down!

I’m hungry now 😂
What is Chuck steak in dutch?
"Doei"... 😂😂
Throw some bacon and mushrooms on that smash burger and I'm all in!
bacon doesnt belong on a burger that ruins the best part about the bacon, and the burger
the cheese is called GOUDA (gao-dah)
Good son👌🏼✨
How can I get your rubs in the states ?
Where can i buy your rubs?i'm from Italy

I don't think that's better than mine, So we'll have less of that fighting talk. Although It does look like a close second.😋😋😋
🤣👍
😮
How do you avoid one of those disgusting grounded beef gristles? Is this cut good enough for this. Whenever I find one of those I lose my appetite.
Have you made your own mixed herbs and spice msg replacement powder? Something to beat Guga's? Ha ha
That is an amazing looking Smash Burger PitMaster can’t wait to make some, Thanks!! 😋🥃🤘🏼 Geno

Priceless
TBH, I think the extra gadgety "knife shield" isn’t helping but distracting and making the whole cutting less stable AKA unsafe.
they still eat smash burgers just made of plants
this why i always put ketchup on but the way you did that trick with parmesan onions sandwiching is genius its like cheating, AND NO BRIOCHE CAKE burger big plus guga does it too much
Real people 😂😂
How about some ostrich meat?
hmm guga said something similar. Time to 1v1 him.
I would go with only one patty
Them onions....................

ye not tried it yet but wasnt gonna add the green stuff and now that you mention the onions probably worth caramelising before grating the parmesan
Wow
You need to invest in a grinder. That plastic POS will not last and I'm sure with all your SPONSOR money you could get a good one

smashburger refers to the thickness, i seriously doubt that historically the idea of a thin patty dish was determined by its toppings
@starc. ah, but that's where you're wrong. It actually was. Research it. 🤷
