Is the 2022 Infiniti QX60 a BETTER luxury SUV than an Acura MDX?

  • The QX60 finally receives a redesign for 2022 from Infiniti. On the outside you will see a totally new shape, unique "wave" grill, 20in wheels, and full LED lighting. On the inside you will be welcomed by an upscale leather interior, 12.3in infotainment system and digital gauge display. Under the hood is a 3.5L V6 that produces 295HP & is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2022 Infiniti QX60 a BETTER luxury SUV than an Acura MDX?

I agree with you Joe about the flat black plastic wheel arches. I think they would look so much better if they were painted to match the body color just like it was on the previous generation. My guess is they did this to make the QX60 look more rugged & like it can handle some mild off-roading

Most improved new vehicle by far. Not sure I would choose it over the new MDX, but the fact Nissan finally got rid of the CVT on the QX60/Pathfinder, is a huge bonus.

There are so many vehicles in the midsize luxury SUV segment, u have to divide them into 2. On one side u have the 2 row models. Now most of them can come with 3 rows but I’m gonna do this based off how they come standard.
    2 row models:
    Mercedes’ GLE.
    BMW X5
    Genesis GV80
    Lexus Rx
    3 row models:
    Cadillac XT6
    Audi Q7
    Infiniti QX60
    Acura MDX
    Lincoln Aviator
    Lexus RX-L(4th generation)

I have the car. Tuxedo white. Third row has a lot of space if you have the second row not slid all the way to the back which is a convenience for second row passenger. Could use a few improvements but liked it better than the MDX. Also has an air purifier Raiti forgot to mention.

In Canada Ontario, My biggest love is Acura MDX 2022 Platinum Elite, after carefully chosen from MDX , X5 , GLE350 , RX350 , Q7 , GV80, QX60 and test drive them, I have driven MDX for 6 month till now, everything is fantastic fine, enjoying the MDX on-road feeling everyday to/from work !
comparing MDX Type S, I didn't care about regular MDX's 1 second behind, but the reliability. Turbo charger engine will always less reliable than NA engine. gas consumption is not my concern, although my regular MDX 2022 gas mileage till now is about primum 13.5l per 100km, it is not bad either.

One of the best cars I ever had was a 2012 Infiniti EX35. Rear wheel drive, 3.5 V6, tons of tech for the time, even had a 360 camera back then! But lately I haven't been liking. I was interested in the QX50 until I saw reviews on the CVT... CVT in a 60K car? Glad they dropped it for the QX60. Ended up with an MDX, but hated the non touchscreen Infotainment. So now I'm with a XC60 Inscription with the air ride and Bowers and Wilkins. Fingers crossed I'll keep this longer than a month!

Between the two, the MDX beats the QX60 in engine reliability and higher resale value after 5 years. The MDX should accelerate faster since it’s lighter in weight; it drives like a big sedan. The QX60 is heavier and bulkier so it would tow more and could handle rough weather better. It also costs less than the MDX so affordability is at play here. As for cabin, the QX60 lacks ambient lighting and isn’t as quiet as the MDX, but it is roomier and the infotainment system is touchscreen unlike the MDX. Everything else is subjective so it really depends on the individual’s preferences. Again, great video GOAT!

Does it still have that variable compression ratio engine? If it does, I’m out.

The only thing that'll make this QX60 even better is the addition of a Redsport trim to go against the Type-S. One can only hope.
And Joe, instead of giving away that center console, you can actually store it underneath the load floor in the cargo area.

I worked at a Nissan/Infiniti dealership until April. There is something weird going on with the new Pathfinder and QX60. I have already seen a few stalling while driving. One Pathfinder stalled when the customer was driving it home after taking delivery. I worked there from 2013 to 2022. Never bought anything with employee rate/discount.

Great Reviewe Joe !! As usual. I ended with the MDX Advance since last August. The QX60 was still behind in production and out to the public. I like the overall redesign of the MDX better (exterior for sure). All cars have their Pros and Cons. My attestment to Infiniti is that prior to my 2019 MDX (which was traded for the 2022), I had 4 Infinitis: 2007 G35X [best car overall that I ever had - I'm 70 yo and had plenty of cars ], 2010 G37X (the new 7 speed tranny was jerky until after 2 yeasr they reprorammed the software); 2013 M37X (a great car with fantastic Value which was totally not realized by the public); and a 2016 QX60 ( good SUV, smooth, and comfy but looked like a Bloated Wagon). Infiniti service was always fantastic -other than a tranny hiccup on the 2007 G35X of a development of an abrupt shift after a year [Inifiniti replaced that Tranny as fast as you can say I N F I N I T I.... w/o question!!]. Never had a problem with any of these cars. Hopefully, with my second Acura, I experience the same results. IMHO, I would say the MDX has the Upperhand on the Ride side of things... The QX60 seems to be a notch up on the interior luxury / look. If Acura provides an InfoT. system with both a touchpad and touchscreen- Bingo that really is the Winner.
