2008 GSXR 600 Starter Relay Click Issue *FIXED*

- Had a single click coming from my 2008 GSXR 600 starter relay when trying to start my bike, but it would not crank. This video goes over how I was able to fix the issue and get the bike to start.

Been subscribed and watching your videos for a while and came across this looking for potential issues with my 06 ZX-6R and it turned out to be this exact issue. I replaced the stator cover a few months ago just after putting it in storage and forgot I did it and was confused why it wouldn't start this season but could push start the bike no problems. Had this same tolerance issue on a 2006 ZX-6R stator cover. Had to grind the little area to free the starter gear.

I thought it might be the starter motor solenoid relay but after a bunch of monkeying around, I said, why not try this other battery which was holding a better charge. I hooked that up and now the bike runs like a top, so I think it was just that old battery had issues. So I'll try to recharge and improve that old battery while actually being able to use my motorcycle normally (I hope). What a relief. Just something to keep in mind.. I simply misdiagnosed the thing as being more complicated than it was. Because I know very little about all this mysterious stuff. Thanks for delving into the more complicated issues as well though !!! Who knows, maybe I'll learn something eventually...

Bro you just helped me out a lot I was having that same problem although mine was still starting it was just making this god-awful metal screeching noise. I honestly thought it was the cover too because I also got a knockoff and I just wasn't sure if my theory was correct and I didn't want to go through all the work and then I found this video which reassured me and sure enough it fixed it you're the best thanks man
bro i wanna ask you i have gsxr 750 k9 and i want to replace the stator if i remove the stator cover the oil wont come out ?

legend007 I purchased a new starter that will be installed in a couple hours actually. Roll starting got the bike going for me to ride it. I would also roll and let the starter slightly catch to move its position. Once I did that I could hit the start button and she’d fire up no problem. Hope that helps!

Im having the same issue after replacing with a cheap chinese cover what dremel attachment did you use to file it down? And great video i think you may have solved my problem.
I used the cylindrical sanding wheel and kept making horizontal passes over the top taking a little bit off each time
Ive never serviced a GSXR before but have major experience with 2 stroke street bikes, water cooled as well as air.
I am now fixing a different starter issue on a friends bike and I'm wondering why theres oil leaking into the stator area? Did a seal get removed from that area or is it something else?

Hey James, these are actually aftermarket fairings from auctmarts. I have had great results with their fairings

I own a 2007 GSXR 600 with 5700 miles, 3 weeks ago I stopped and got gas. When I went to start the bike back up the instrument cluster only displayed the neutral light and the display that shows MPG, mileage, temp etc only had the back light on. When I attempt to start the bike as seen in the video it doesn't turn over. My first thought was the charging system, very common on these bikes to go out. I order the parts and put in a new rectifier, stater, and battery. I go to start the bike and it still won't turn over, instrument cluster only illuminates with the neutral light. The fuel pump primes and the only suggestion I've gotten is to check fuses.

Hello i have two question for you if you want to answer to me, i have the same bike suzuki gsxr 600 2009.
1) the gear indicator when i downshift from 1 to N the light sometimes does not work or works a little bit..
2)The horn when i reach 80+ temperature of the bike does not work at all.

Judging by those symptoms of your bike it sound like you need to replace your stator/ rectifier
Or you might need to replace your battery
tip sensor also or kickstand sensor
This happened to me but my starter relay isn’t clicking. When I press the start button nothing happens it was running just fine earlier and would start up but I have no idea whats happened

Hey man I got power all around on my gixxer 04 the battery is good and the starter and solenoid is good do you know what it could be ? A month ago when I bought it was fine running strong and then I left it in storage for 2 weeks then after that loaded it up and took to my home and after unloading it started for a brief second and then shut off and ever since then it doesn't want to start again
Sounds like a bad battery a good battery should have around 12.7 volts
RK Motorsports well it has power all around my gauges and my friend tested the battery and starter and said they were good I don't get it. Could it be my ecu ??
