Man, I just got off Federal Probation 3 weeks ago. They smoked me with 5 years probation after I got released. I NEVER wanted to go back to the Feds. I Dotted my I's, crossed my T's, walked that straight and narrow and minded my own business. I did 2 1/2 years and got off on early release. The day the judge granted me that I was so thankful. I got blessed major time. The judge said he VERY RARELY Grants that, but I was Exemplary on probation and others should learn from me. I'm so happy that chapter is over!

I recently watched a clip in which some miscreant was appearing in court for reloading a semi-auto handgun three times, fired over 50 rounds in a populated area, hitting two bystanders who were bringing charges against him and then complained that it was a first offense so it was unfair that he was getting 10 years probation. So the judge held him over for a jury trial. He didn't understand the gift either.

Just because you had consequences for a bad choice doesn't all of a sudden make it something you didn't think about and proceed to follow up with the actions to do so. A mistake is picking up the salt instead of the sugar. You meant to pick up sugar but not using enough senses picked up the wrong item. That is a mistake. Selling drugs is something you think about and then go and do knowing that it is a bad addiction and has legal consequences, that is a bad choice@@Kite166

I totally did not want to stop when I was on probation and I was facing three years in the state pen. I truly didn’t think they’d send you to prison for that. But I saw multiple people I knew up there go to prison just because they didn’t stop weed. So I decided to at least try quitting. It took about a week to get used to living and sleeping. And about a month for my appetite to come back. It’s truly harder than most make it out to be. But it’s definitely not worth going to prison is the decision I made. No matter how bad I felt I knew it wouldn’t compare to one hour in prison.

I think you missed the point. As you pointed out “kids” has two different meanings a young person and baby goats
      However, “children” definition
      1) a young person especially between infancy and puberty
a play for both children and adults
      2) Under the law she is still a child.
b: a childlike or childish person
He is a child in most business matters.
c: a son or daughter of human parents
      3) an unborn or recently born person
The point she is making is the definition of “kids” can either mean human or animal
      Children definition only means humans.
However, I do think saying that in court is ridiculous, she should stay focused on the charges and not correcting someone’s grammar or how they were raised to say things.

Our Uncle and Aunt who started raising my siblings and I when I was 9 years old after our parents were killed by a drunk driver, our Uncle and Aunt have always loved us just as they love their own two children, they tell us all that discipline is NOT always punishment, it is also unconditional love, daily teaching and making sure that we are abiding to their rules of our behavior, keeping in contact with our school teachers, making sure that we all do our homework, knowing our grades, that we do our daily chores at home, real praise for our real hard work for our schooling, NOT the “empty” praise of “everybody gets a ribbon, OR everybody gets an award just for trying” that has been the fad for several years now. We all know what the rules are that our Uncle and Aunt have told us from day one, they don’t “spring” any new rules on us out of the blue, all of their rules are for at home, at school, at church, at stores, at friends houses, ETC., and if we choose to disobey, then they ask whichever one of us chose to disobey the rules “tell us why you are in trouble and will be punished”, it is dealt with immediately, and NOT a slap on the wrist punishment either. As they always remind us, in words and actions “we will always love you, even when you choose to disobey, BUT we will NOT allow any kind of misbehavior, and we love you enough to punish you when you chose to disobey. If we didn’t love you all, then we would not raise you and keep up with your daily lives.”
