Sanatan Dharm is a Open System which allows each individual to search & seek SAT mind you they don't use the term GOD leaving a scope for Ageya/Nastiks , To elaborate SatChitAnand , they Way/ Path/ Method is of his own choosing as per his attitude & inclination But culturally & in daily living it is so well integrated with whole world of Animate / Inanimate environment, Buddha actually never declared that He is treading a new Path yet Hindus recognize this fact that every person has a birthright to follow his own Path for seeking the Ultimate. It's uniqueness of Hinduism So they wholeheartedly recognize the present Buddhism Panth/ Religion . Hindus claim on Buddha cannot be denied for this original Words Of Tathaagat are enough proof

There is a concerted effort being made to deny any relationship between the 2 religions. When similarities are presented there will always be a group of people who will present ample reasons to try and discredit it. They will go to great lengths to find the negatives. The basic root of both religions and the methods along with the goal are one and same.
@enigma I am right when I say that people come out of the woodwork to discredit even the similarities. You seem to have very superficial knowledge of Buddhism and Hinduism both 1. You mention differences in the method. Both religions believe in meditation yoga mantra puja yantra puja and tantra puja to reach the goal 2. Hindus highest aim for moksha, a Buddhist wants nirvana ! 3. Hindus pray to gods to help us focus and to reach enlightenment or moksha. Buddhist too have images of Buddha and goddess like Tara who they pray to. Friend your need to study more and in depth both the religions then you will not be saying what you did.

@enigma siddharth gautam must have heard of maharishi gautam, his gotra rishi and being born to king suddodhana in shakya kshatriya class must have witnessed and experienced the teachings of sanatan dharma. Yes both terinologies hinduism or buddhism weren't there but buddism in my question i meant that did buddha ask for a seperate sect of people to dissociate from sanatan dharma and to only follow his teachings or did he only want to combine his school of thought to the sanatan dharma...
Many times followers are interested in identity, more than master himself. One or two new teachings doesn't mean you run for seprate identity. Dharma is much more than teachings of a single person, it is work of many centuries.
@@Fidaindia-h4l Exactly. Also, wanting to emphasize a separate identity is often politically motivated e.g. Islam teaches Muslims to see themselves as separate and better than others because it was created to legitimize Arab imperialism at that time. Sikhs are also Hindus but the British and later Pakistani agents tried to instill in them a sense of separate identity from Hindus. Guru Nanak was just another Hindu teacher. Original Sikhs came from Hindu families and did not see themselves as separate from Hindus. All this nonsense of being a separate religion came later.

Buddhism as a seperate organized religion was started & propagated about 400 years after the demise of the Buddha. Till then it remained the original teachings of another Spiritual Master from his own spiritual experience, just like many others in the Vedantic & Bhakthi traditions who drew their teachings upon their own spiritual realizations rather than being scripture based. There teachings may or may not have resonated with the scriptures.

While Hinduism adopted the Buddha in its mythology, Buddhism adopted the Hindu god Krishna in its own mythology. The story of Krishna occurs in the Jataka tales in Buddhism, for example.[36] The Vidhurapandita Jataka mentions Madhura (Sanskrit: Mathura); the Ghata Jataka mentions Kamsa, Devagabbha (Sk: Devaki), Upasagara or Vasudeva, Govaddhana (Sk: Govardhana), Baladeva (Balarama), and Kanha or Kesava (Sk: Krishna, Keshava).[37][38] The Arjuna and Krishna interaction is missing in the Jataka version. In the Buddhist version, Krishna laments in uncontrollable sorrow when his son dies, and a Ghatapandita feigns madness to teach Krishna a lesson.[39] The Jataka tale also includes an internecine destruction among his siblings after they all get drunk. Krishna also dies in the Buddhist legend by the hand of a hunter named Jara, but while he is traveling to a frontier city. Mistaking Krishna for a Deer, Jara throws a spear that fatally pierces his feet, causing Krishna great pain and then his death.[40] At the end of this Ghata-Jataka discourse, the Buddhist text declares that Sariputta, one of the revered disciples of the Buddha in the Buddhist tradition, was incarnated as Krishna in his previous life to learn lessons on grief from the Buddha in his prior rebirth: Then he [Master] declared the Truths, and identified the Birth: 'At that time, Ananda was Rohineyya, Sariputta was Vasudeva [Krishna], the followers of the Buddha were the other persons, and I myself was Ghatapandita." - Jataka Tale No. 454, Translator: W. H. D. Rouse[

He took sanyas , had self realisation & got moksha following intense tapascharya in hindu way , but did he become something else after having moksha other than hindu ? And people made him another religion . 🤷♀️ What he taught us (there is suffering , cause of suffering , astangik marg , method to get nirvana )after obtaining siddhi is the essence of sanatan dharma . Words can be different but lessons are same . Read SrimadvagabatGita & u will understand karmayog , gyanyog , bhaktiyog , methods of self realisation & methods of seeking mukti or moksha better . Actually the problem is , hindu does not have their education system , so many generations have gone uneducated & unaware about hindu & sanatan dharma. All sruti, smriti , vedas , puran , upanishad , origin of Jain, Budhist, Sikhs & how all these sects have stem out from Sanatan dharma should be taught . The use of the English term "Hinduism" to describe a collection of practices and beliefs is a fairly recent construction: it was first used by Raja Ram Mohun Roy in 1816-17.[45] The term "Hinduism" was coined in around 1830 by those Indians who opposed British colonialism, and who wanted to distinguish themselves from other religious groups.
A very much anachronistic point of view, indeed. At the time the Buddha arose in this world there was no 'Hinduism' which is a pretty recent invention after Brahmanism reformed itself through centuries of assimilation, syncretism, and adaptation of its own teachings particularly of Buddhism and Jainism. If we are really faithful to the history and all the important ancient Buddhist texts and historiographic accounts that pass down to us, we would be clear that the Buddha, represented as the most evolutionary force of Sramana schools, was and still is the most vehement critique of the self-serving corrupt vanna/caste system of the Brahmins and the old Vedas.
Utter nonsense. varna system is the formula of society which made Bharat the most richest country in the world. the scholars, the military, the entrepreneurs and the manufacturers are must. manufacturers produce value then entrepreneurs trade it and manage economy, to protect economy using law and order there is Military/Police warriors then scholars who invented hindu number system luni-solar calendar and so on. caste discrimination is against Karma siddhanta. if Hindus followed karma siddhanta then any form of discrimination cannot exist. Missionaries enforced their western heredatory hirarchial system on us so they can govern us easily for that they banned our gurukul education system which made us preserve the knowledge pass it down to generations as heredatory system was needed without gurukulas then due to misinterpretation f puranas pyramid hirarcy was imposed on us by missionary colonizers just like they imposed that on every colony in the world to that they can convert the lowest in every society and brainwash them turn them zombies (modern day leftists) in every society/culture/country. Bhagvat Geeta says "charturvanam guna karma vibhatije" 4 varnas are based on guna/skills and Karma/work (portfolio). This system was copied by Christians and their heredetory hierarchal system was dumped on us and we were brainwashed to believe that we are guilty or our own religion. it's unacceptable. now it's time to expose all fake anti-hindu narratives.
Sanatan Dharma is much older than the written Vedas , as old as at least 15000 years old viz Shiva worship Shruties , Surya Sidhant & it's Geographies went from Iran to Indonesia by 3000 BC it has spread from Japan China East Asia to Eastern coast of North & South America
Dr Elst has been going on about the age of Vedas for a while . This is the problem of outsiders. Vedas are eternal, Authorless, Aparusheya and as such no time can be ascribed to them. He will not accept this. He also is of the opinion that Indian astrology/Astronomy came from Greece. Madam Jayshree Saranathan had taken him apart on this. Dr Elst is nice person and scholar but he gets few things wrong. I do have great regards for him.
Buddhism is a subset of Hinduism(a way of life, which walks on the path of peace and nirvana via self enlightenment using various yogic kriya yoga ), there is zero doubt on it, yes he was a Divine soul (GOD) who cleaned some distortion/impurities of Hinduism , which happed due to tinkering of Das nami parampara. All Hindus feel proud of it.
Dividing Hinduism from Buddhism is a complete tragedy. They are both one and the same. In Hinduism Buddha is the 9th incarnation of lord Vishnu. “ Buddh avatar “. Both believe in rebirth karma, yoga, mantras, sanskrit shlokas yantra puja, tantra puja goddess puja. moksha/ nirvana. Sanyas or monk hood. Orange for the monks. !!!! For that matter I feel Jainism and Sikhism have the same underlying philosophies which are straight out of the vedas They should all unite and come under the umbrella of Sanatana dharma. Please do a program spreading the similarities of all these Indic religious beliefs. Also there is strength in numbers against the proselytising Abrahamic faiths.

He was cremated as as per Hindu tradition! The religion Buddhism started around 100 years after the death Buddha.
Its not Christians but Communist in India. Most Dalits converted to Buddhism so they found a reason to divide Hinduism and Buddhism by portraying as if Buddha was Anti Hindu.

Joint Communiqué by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Shri Jayendra Saraswatiji of Kanchi Kamakoti Pith and Vipassanacharya Satya Narayan Goenkaji. The Maha Bodhi Society Office, Sarnath, Varanasi. 3:30 p.m., 11 November 1999 This joint communiqué is being issued after the cordial talk between Jagadguru Shankaracharya Shri Jayendra Saraswatiji of Kanchi Kamakoti Pith and Vipassanacharya Guruji Shri Satyanarayana Goenkaji. Both agree and wish that there should be harmonious and friendly relations between both ancient (the Vedic and the Ṣramana) traditions. If there has been any misconception in this matter in the minds of the people of the neighbouring countries, it should be removed at the earliest. The following was agreed: 1. Due to whatever reason some literature was written (in India) in the past in which the Buddha was declared to be a reincarnation of Vishnu and various things were written about him. This was very unpleasant to the neighbouring countries. In order to foster friendlier ties between the two communities we decide that whatever has happened in the past (cannot be undone, but) should be forgotten and such beliefs should not be propagated. 2. A misconception has spread in the neighbouring countries that the Hindu society of India is organising such conferences to prove its dominance over the followers of the Buddha. To forever remove this misconception we declare that both Vedic and Ṣramana traditions are ancient traditions of India. Both have their own prestigious existence. Any attempt by one tradition to show itself higher than the other will only generate hatred and ill will between the two. Hence such a thing should not be done in the future and both traditions should be accorded equal respect and esteem. 3. Anybody can attain a high position in the society by doing good deeds. One becomes a low (person in society) if one does evil deeds. Hence anybody can-by doing good deeds and removing the defilements such as passion, anger, arrogance, ignorance, greed, jealousy and ego-attain a high position in society and enjoy peace and happiness. We agree on all the three things mentioned above and wish that all the people of India from all the traditions should have cordial relations and the neighbouring countries should also have friendly relations with India.
But Wikipedia says that there's no belief of 'atma' or soul or self in Buddhism because Buddha said 'Anatta' or 'Anatma' ie no self/ soul. How can we confirm?
Buddhist belief holds that "Aatman" does not exist. Sanatana Dharma establishes the existence of Aatman and the Jeev Aatman (Creature Soul) as a "Pitcher carrying water/essence/soul of the bigger body called Param Brahmaan or Universe".
This english language is creating confusion and saperatism it translates atma as "self/individuality" and anatta as "nonself". but atma is supposed to be nirgun (propertyless) just like shoonya/empty so Atma and Shunya are same. jeevatma/individuality is rejected as illusion/maya just like anatta/self/individuality is rejected.
@@Batega_toh_Katega_Hindu_108 Shoonya concept is there in Hinduism too. Shoonya means null and void. There's both arithmetical shoonya (zero) and calculus/limit shoonya (zero). The cosmic shoonya or calculus/limit shoonya is hindu sanatana theology wise having the Tatva or the essence called 'akasha' or 'byom' ( ie cosmos/ aether essence). Therefore even if it tends to zero it is not an absolute zero.
Buddha was against the Vedic dogmas and the caste system. He had refused to preach in sanskrit. He spoke in colloqial Pali language of the common people. Buddha went against this Brahmanic religion which is being touted as Sanatana Dharma of the Indian Hindus. This is a flawed narrative. Sanskrit was the elitist language of the superior Brahmins who looked down on the lower caste Hindus. Shri P R Sarkar has commented in his views on the main philosophies of Indian - Buddha opposed those ritualistic religions in clear language and advised people to follow the path of morality. He said, “Prepare yourself and truth will spontaneously manifest itself before you.” Buddha did not say anything specifically about Iishvara, his views about átman were vague, and he clearly rejected the Vedas; for these reasons the doctrine of Buddha was branded as atheism. It is true that Buddha did not explicitly mention Iishvara, but it is also true that he never denied Iishvara. Já teṋi boli te tabi tál Guru bob se shiiśá kál Bhańai Káhńu jina raan bi kaesá Káleṋ bob samvohia jaesá. Regarding jiivátmá [unit consciousness], Buddha did not use the term jiivátmá or any such word, but he uttered one sentence, Attáhi attánaḿ natha. This sentence may have two meanings. One meaning is, “One is the lord of one’s own self,” and the other is, “Átman is the lord of átman.” The second meaning perhaps is more acceptable because in the Prákrta language the word appan is generally used to indicate one’s own self, while the word attá is mainly used in the sense of átman, or soul. Thus one cannot conclusively prove that Buddha did not accept the existence of átman; there is sufficient scope for controversy on this point. It is true that Buddha did not support the Vedas. But while preaching his philosophy he remarked, Eśa dhamma sanantana - “This is the eternal dharma.” Buddha clearly and firmly supported the doctrine of rebirth. In fact, no doctrine before him had placed as much stress on the theory of rebirth as his did. One who accepts the theory of rebirth is bound to accept the existence of átman also. If the átman is non-existent, then who will take rebirth? - ( Shrii Shrii Anandamurti, Namah Shivaya Shantaya )
They are only showing one side just only defame sanatan way!!! The Greek historian and the member of Greek court megasthenes and arrian was arrived in india before Buddhism spread in india. Both historian came in 350-300BC means 100 yrs after buddhas death. They have mentioned in there books that the brahmin or rishis can become from any cast. No one stop from anyone or any cast from becoming brahmana.... And that time india divided into saven cast based on their work. And every cast depend on each other. The most important part is that both historian clearly and firstly mentioned that indian have no such system like slave. Even the kings have worker but no slaves. If the person of any cast want help in their work they marry many women so there children helped them as well there wife's. The Arrian also mentioned that women can be brahmin but she have to sacrifice her hair to become so. Please read core real and non baised books so then you can get real information about indian history. And yes the slavery started later period after Mughal Mohammadas Turk invasion in India.
It is important to distinguish "jati" and "varna" from "caste", the latter being an European term to describe what was prevalent there (royalty, nobility, serfs, tradespeople etc) which were birth-based and hereditary. Varna was definitely NOT heredity and was based on occupation, making it normal for people to switch their varna if they wanted as is abundantly clear from our history of shudras who were kings and even became Brahmins. Of course, it is also normal for families to protect their knowledge and skills with parents passing on these to their offspring but it was not compulsory. The varna system in its original form is the most perfect social system on earth, giving a respected place to everyone regardless of occupation. Jati was bloodline management which ensured that there was no inbreeding. It is easy at least for me to believe that this social system is indeed God ordained, a revealed wisdom.
What rubbish is this? I'm afraid Dr. Elst has no idea about Buddhism whatsoever. If he did, he'd know that ārya in Buddhism refers specifically to those beings who've either attained śrotapanna (according to the śrāvaka traditions) or the first bhūmi (according to the mahāyāna). Where do the Kauravas come into this at all? It works be nice Hindu commentators and experts at least studied the rudiments of Buddhist philosophy before trying to lecture the world on a subject they have no understanding of whatsoever. Dr. Elst is cloaking his ignorance of the buddhadharma with the authoritative garb of his intellect and reputation. If only he knew what he was talking about!
Buddha rejected vedas, he was against cast system and he also said, "Nothing is permanent, everything is bound to fate. This is the law of impermanence. But hindus believe that their religion cant be changed coz its sanathan or eternal. Buddha even rejected god, its completely mentioned in pali canon and tripitaka which are most authentic sources of Buddhism. Therefore, Buddha was an atheist. And btw, the word hindu is an exonym, it got coined in 18th cen. Then how buddha became hindu if the word hindu itself never existed at the time of Buddha??? Buddha was the first reformer in Aryan society, he was nastik or atheist and therefore Brahmins hated him. So u see therefore nastik word is made as to be sin or pretty bad. The fact of the matter is that Brahminism eventuality became hinduism. At the time of samrat Ashok whole India was Buddhamay from Afghanistan to myanmar. There were no hindus at that time. The real name of hinduism is Brahminism. And hindu is nothing but amalgamation of cast and therefore in order to get rid of cast DR AMBEDKAR renunciated hinduism and embraced Buddhism. Buddhas core teaching were against Brahminism and therefore Brahminis considered Buddha to be avatar of vishnu even when Buddha clearly rejected the concept of reincarnation. He merely believed that we gets rebirth not by exchange of soul, but after death our atoms get changed from one body to other. Its pretty scientific which DR AMBEDKAR also explained in his book Buddha and his Dhamma.
There was no such things as "Hindu" in those days. Hindu was merely a nomenclature given by the Persians (Vedai or pre Zoroastrian / Avesthan) for their co religionists of the Indus Valley until it was turned into a legal fiction of convenience by the British and their successors to describe the myriad native religions and civilizations that did not belong to book based Middle Eastern cults. The "Booder" was an Arya of the Gautama Gothra and belonged to Kshatriya Varna until his renunciation and adoption of Sanyasa. The Booder did not proselytize. He did not even affirm or deny the existence of Brahma. His Brahmana disciples carried their own messages wrapped up as Budhism to proselytize people to a core of Brahmanism wrapped around with each disciple's own beliefs and local mythology. e.g. Kashyapa from the Pallava Kingdom to China (Bodhidharma) , Koushika from the Vanga Kingdom to Tibet (Padmasambhava) and Bharadhwaja from the Kingdom of Tibet (Potala) to Japan.
Wow...danke je wel Meneer Erst. I am so glad I found you. When did Buddhism started? Was Sidartha a Buddhist then?? No, he was not !! Greetings from New York City 🙏. ✨ 😊 🌠🌌💫⚛💖🌲☃️💐
DEBUNKING SOME MYTHS AND MISCONCEPTIONS PREVALENT IN INDIAN SUB-CONTINENT ABOUT BUDDHA DHARMA "A corollary to the above misconception is that the Buddha actually taught what was in the Vedas but his disciples either did not understand his teaching or distorted them. An aspect of the above mentioned misconception has already been shown as totally absurd. But there is another aspect which needs to be dealt with. As the Buddha's immediate disciples had experienced in their own mental continuum what the Buddha meant, there could not possibly have been any distortion. And as the living enlightened lineages continue to date, which means that each generation experienced in their mental continuum, the exact meaning of the Buddha's teachings, to claim that the Buddhists distorted the Buddha's teachings and that's why it has become so different from the Vedic teachings, is the height of naivety. And this brings us to another similar misconception about Buddhism. Most Hindu scholars, or otherwise, would like to believe that the Buddhism is a branch of Hinduism. This misunderstanding is rampant amongst educated Hindus and is a correlate of the story fabricated in the 16th century and later in the Shiva Purana and its likes, that the Buddha was an incarnation of Visnu. First of all Hinduism as it is known today did not exist at the time of the Buddha, so there can be no question about Buddhism being a branch of Hinduism. In fact, according to historical records and anthropological studies, what we call Hinduism is 75% derived from Buddhism and is the offspring of the impact of Buddhism on the Brahmanic system. What existed in the Buddha's time was a form of Brahmanism that was quite different from what is known as Hinduism today. From ancient times there were two streams of spiritual quest in the Indian sub-continent. One was Sramanism and the other was Vedic Brahmanism. These two streams did interact with each other as is seen clearly in the Upanishads of the Brahmanic systems and the sutras of the Buddhists and Jains who were both members of the sramanic system. It should be kept in mind that both the Buddha and Mahavir called themselves Mahasramans, which is a clear indication that they did not subscribe to the Brahmanic systems. In one of the most famous mantras of Buddhism 'ye dharma hetu prabaha hetustathagato hyevadat tesancha yo nirodho evam badi mahasramana, Aswajit, the famous Brahmin disciple of the Buddha called the Buddha Mahasramana. Sramanism was probably older than the Vedic Brahmanism that, according to many historians came into India when the Indo-Aryans transmigrated into the Indian sub-continent, from Central Asia. But there are many who do not agree to this view. However, Sramanism is definitely an indigenous spiritual tradition of the Indian subcontinent, and there is no two thoughts about this. We see the transactions between the Sramans and Brahmins in the Brihadaranyak Upanishad 3.6.1 where we find Gargi (who is often vaunted as the daughter of Nepal) challenging the Brahmin Yagyavalkya. We know that Gargi was a Sraman by the fact that she stuck a twig of the rose-apple (Jambu tree) as a sign of challenge. And also the style of questioning of Gargi is a shade different from the questions put forth by the many other Brahmins in that same text. The Brihadaranyak is thought to be at least 2-3 hundred years older than the Buddha if not older. So Sramanism was an equally old (if not older) stream of spiritual system as Brahmanism and the Buddha has clearly called himself Mahasraman. This would clearly imply that Buddhism is definitely not an off-shoot of Brahmanism, what to speak of Hinduism which is a product of Brahmanism's interaction with Buddhism and thus something that developed in the Indian sub-continent after the Buddha. We could give scholastic quotes to validate this but it's not necessary in an article like this. Vedic Brahmanism metamorphosed drastically due to the catalytic influence of Buddhism and others and became the multifarious system under the generic name of Hinduism. But of course, we cannot say that Buddhism was not influenced by Vedic Brahmanism and later Hinduism at all. That would be too naïve. However, in the give and take which is inevitable in any culture within a space of time (and Buddhism covered 75% of India and 75% Asia for sixteen or so hundred years), it was Hinduism which took mostly from Buddhism and not the other way around. Another interrelated myth is that it was Sankaracharya who defeated the Buddhists all over India and that is how Buddhism vanished from India, or as the former President of India Dr. Radhakrishnan Sarvapulli put it, Hinduism embraced Buddhism and in the process killed it. Again these are myths running wild amongst Hindus of the Indian sub-continent; but they do not have any historical validity. This notion is given further credence to Nepalese, including Buddhist Newars by the Newari legend that Sankaracharya came to Nepal and defeated all the Buddhists, converted the kings and beheaded the Bhikchhus. First of all the Adi Sankaracharya was around the 7th century and great Mahavihars like Nalanda and Bikramashila were still running strong till the 12th /13th century when the Muslims over ran India and destroyed them. Secondly there were still Mahasiddhas like Naropa, Tilopa and many others till the Muslim invasion. So, Buddhism was still running strong five century after Adi Sankaracharya. And furthermore, the stories of Sankaracharya as written by Ananda Giri and Madhava etc. do not contain any element which mentions that he debated with the Buddhists all over India and defeated them. In fact those stories show Sankaracharya debating mostly with other non-advaita Hindus and rarely with the Buddhist. So, the misconception that Sankaracharya went up and down India defeating all the Buddhists and this is how Buddhism vanished from India seems to be baseless and fabricated by uneducated Non-Buddhists. Thirdly, the Sankaracharya that came to Nepal seems to be of the 11th-12th century or later and not the Adi Sankaracharya. He seems to have entered Nepal when Buddhism was beginning to decline in Nepal as a result of its having declined in India due to the Islamic invasion which literally destroyed Buddhism in India. So he did not find any match for his debates and was able to convert many people in Kathmandu. He may possibly be the same Harinanda who was defeated by the Great Tibetan Guru Sakya Pandit. However this is not conclusive. But the stories do say he died in Tibet. However he did not die before he created havoc amongst the Buddhists of Kathmandu Valley, who still do not seem to have recovered from the shock. Big learning houses like Nalanda, Bikramashila etc were raised to the ground and the monks beheaded and the books in the libraries burnt to cinders by the Islamic invaders like Bakhtiar, Khilji etc. It is said in the diary of Khilji's general that, the books of the library of Nalanda took six months for the cinders to settle down and nine months for the smoke to settle down. So much destruction took place all over the Indian subcontinent. It said one of the reasons why the Buddhist monasteries were specially picked out by the Islamic invaders is that they mistook the monks in uniform monk dress as uniformed army men and the books in the library as books on warfare et al. This happened in the 12th/13th century, almost 5 centuries after Sankaracharya. Till then Buddhism was still flourishing strong in the Indian subcontinent." Joint Communiqué by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Shri Jayendra Saraswatiji of Kanchi Kamakoti Pith and Vipassanacharya Satya Narayan Goenkaji.
Ambedkar converted to Buddhism, only symbolically just a few weeks before his death and declared that he didn't want to die as a Hindu. Dharma is what we practice while living, not symbolically when we are about to die.
Budha never said anything about budhism it is his disciples who started saying it's different from Hinduism. He urged his disciples to follow five principles not start a religion by his name. The five principles of budhism were there in sanatan dharma from the beginning.
How he can say rebel against vedic tradition as Vedic root? For some people everything in the world is Vedic. Buddha did not believe in Atman which is fundamental of Vedic tradition.
Nonsense many things in Buddhism has vedic roots , at the same time many things are not why you people make things complicated unnecessary? And Buddha himself was a kshatriya remember.
Of all the world's faiths, ONLY the faiths that were born in present day India subscribe to the concepts of karma, dharma, moksha and reincarnation as fact, not belief. Nobody else comes close. The "Hindu" religions include Vaishnavism, Shaktisim, Shaivism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and countless other "isms" stretching from Afghanistan, Tibet , Mongolia, China, Korea, Japan ,to Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand and Cambodia. I apologize to any peoples I have not mentioned.
Buddha rejected the Vedas or at least the karma Khanda or the ritualistic practices and sacrifices. In that sense, there is similarity with Advaita Vedānta..but the critical difference is in the concept of an anatma.. the non- self. Whether Buddha rejected the Hindu notion of atma or the notion of individual self , is uncertain. In Advaita Vedānta, the concept of individual jiva or atma is negated and the ultimate conclusion is that God alone exists. Given Buddha’s teachings on impermanence , I believe that Buddha meant to emphasise the concept of individual soul, which is often linked to the ego.
If Buddha rejected Vedic ritualistic practices then why do Buddhists also do yagya just like Brahmins using Om as starting of their mantras up to as far as Japan in Bodhidharma Hindu-buddha's temple there? Upanishads themselves rejected appeasing some lower vedic dieties like Indra and Krishna followed same ideas including Buddha. Upanishads inspired Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism. Shaivism, Shaktism are much older. and it is said that Yoga, Martial arts, Tantra, Dance forms, Medicine and Vedas came from Debates, practices and lifestyle between Shiva and Shakti/Parvati.
Perennial philosophical motivated activism is complex and over millenia well documented. It is not without reason that Buddha, Buddhist philosophers choose separation insteadt of integration in Hinduism (anachronistic), for the benefit of his deciples. The history shows, integration blurres all contours away.
Just a variation of Charvaka- they were part of ancient Indian philosophy from 600BCE - they rejected afterlife , karma, liberation, authority of sacred scriptures, Vedas and the self or soul. This is pretty much Buddhism plus or minus with a pinch of compassion. Buddha lived from 563 BCE to 480 BCE and the religion ( not that he wanted a different religion ) started about 400 years later.
Mr.Koenraad, you have rightly stated that a Jain Aggrawal would marry a Hindu Aggarwal but not a Jain Oswal.Similarly the Sikh castes marry freely with their corresponding Hindu castes but not with other castes within the Sikh society.Likewise in Tamilnadu, the Hindu and Christian Naadaars freely marry with each other and both of them consider each other as the same people. And surely this sort of relationship between people of different religions but of the same caste is likely to be more extensive throughout the country. At the least there would be affinity between two peoples of different religions but of the same caste. This makes it abundantly clear that the so called castes in this country are in reality TRIBES.But you are are referring to them as castes of the Hindu social order. When the so called castes are definitely transcending the Hindu religion, how can they be referred to as belonging to the Hindu Varna Vyavastha (Social order)?
The Hindus are converting for reservations in minority but want to maintain Hindu varna system? Then by which mouth so these missionary convert us by demonising our varna system?
The root of any religion, is not to reach the divine (what ever that is) it is to be a true human being, using all the tools that a human has to realise empathy and compassion. Huamns come to this realisation independantly, from many back grounds, who's roots should not be confused with the enlightenment obtained (by which I mean empathy and comapassion). All religions and cultural basis are valid as paths for obtaining true sight. It is at the decernment of the individual to best use those tools to reach their goal. Enlightnement is there fore gained in spite of the religious and cultural doctorine, and not solely because of it. Many seem invested in the source of the outcome rather than the conclusion itself. there is no true path with billions of minds, yet there is one true consiousness that unites us all. Do not be invested in your own outcome or that of others.
IF ANYBODY FOLLOW SANATANA DHARMA PROPERLY, ANYBODY CAN GET WISDOM.. ONLY HINDUISM ALLOW THE COEXISTENCE OF ALL FAITH. THIS IS OUR STRENGTH AND THIS IS THE WEEKNESS ALSO!
The comment section proves that not everyone deserves knowledge. If u r looking for knowledge then try to learn more and more. Don't fight one another. A Little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
We are blessed to have a sage like Dr. Koenraad Elst jee who through his sheer devotion, dedication and discipline learnt so much about our Sanatana Dharma. Westerners put in lot of time in research through systematic approach, which is very rare here. They are taught to reason out, to logic. I have seen them study sooktas, Upanishads etc which average Hindu hardly reads n try to understand. We do rote learning! And then there are so called secular, intellectuals who have twisted our history for whatever reason best known to them. The modern school system doesn't educate people in the real sense of the term. They are mostly waste of precious years! This is the reason we see handful of knowledgeable persons in India. This has to change. The sooner, the better. Guru kulas are the need of the hour.
How is it possible that Buddha denied Atman, when he believed in rebirth? It is a foolish argument by some narrow minded Vedantins to put down Buddhism.
A blog on Guru Nanak Dev Ji, especially on his life and journeys may be made. Had he borrowed anything from Abrahamic religions which was absent in various branches of Indic philosophy.?

Lord Buddha, neither wrote anything of his own nor asked any of his disciples to write his teachings in his lifetime. So, one can't say with certainty that what is said today in the name of Lord Buddha is really attributable to him. He used the word "Arya" very much which was prevalent in his time.
Some of the early champions of Buddhism were Indo-Greek and Greco-Bactrian kings like Menander(Malindi) and the first statues of the Buddha and other Buddhist identities were in the Greek style of Gandhara and Taxila. One Indian ruler sent letters to leading Greek world rulers including Ptolemaic Egypt urging them to look at Buddhist teachings. There is a possibility that Buddhist thought influenced early Christianity and Christian monasticism could have been inspired by Buddhist monasticism.

@@alok9307 The descendents of Rāma, the rulers of Raghu dynasty, branched off and formed Kingdom of Kapilavastu, in which Buddha was born. If Ram was a myth, then Buddha is too...!
Alleen al uw mening dat brahmavihra in connectie staat met het concept Brahma uit het (pré-) hinduïsme illustreert dat u de geschiedenis, c.q. de sequentie van het ontstaan van beide stromingen niet kent of niet beschouwt.
Sanskrit and devnagari script used after 9th century, before that dhammascipt ( bramhi) and pali ardhmagdji is language , so pali is the mother of Sanskrit, no Sanskrit found before 9th century , before that shraman sanskriti was there.
Bro, Sanskrit is cousin Language of Avesthi (Persian Language). Avesthi has been around since Zoroastrianism. So how can you say Sanskrit did not exist ? Do't go around saying these things, Historians will laugh at your ignorance. Mahabharata, The Hindu Scripture is estimated to have been written before 1500 B.C in Sanskrit. Vedas are believed by Western Historians to have been written before 4000 B.C.
Buddhism and Hinduism ARE SIMILAR but NOT THE SAME because I have not even seen a statue(Murti) with all the Hindus deities and prayed together non of this Hindus temples. Therefore, it is not good say that Gautama Buddha is Hindu, he has is own middle paths or ways where there was no creator of the Universe, all living beings, god or goddess, etc,. one should go to hell or heaven by himself or herself good/ bad deeds, compassion, karma, educations, hard work, eightfold paths, nirvana. Hindus always claimed that Buddha was Hindu but in a word not by action. Even they said or say he is reincarnation of Lord Vishnu. So, don't be confused with this videos any more he is buddha who founded Buddhism and he's NOT HINDU,... Thanks.
Partly agree , partly not . With due respect to Konradji , Buddha came after MAHABHARAT, after Bhagwat Geeta was delivered by Shri Krishna, & that is absolutely clear if one reads MAHABHARAT IN ITS DETAILS in originality , not just opinions of others. Buddha's socio political environment describes how BUDDHA WAS WAY WAY AFTER MAHABHARAT. SECONDLY VEDA IS LIKE A SEED , WHICH HAS A SILENT POTENTIAL TO GROW INTO DRASTICALLY HUGE TREE WITH 100,000 BRANCHES. THUS SAYING VED DOES NOT EXPLAIN FEMALE GODDESES Because in VED , only AATMA is the goal or is in consideration .the gender description n discretion comes very very later state when humans started differentiating it that way . In VED genders are just like "clothes" that AATMA wears on earth . "Knowledge" is only n only in consideration in VED not gender based divinity , which came at a later stage , when darshana , upanishdas , puranas etc came into being .
Ambedkar was not agreed to any of the existing Buddha version followed in China Japan Thailand or Srilanka because they were heavily influenced by Hinduism thoughts & practices
I am a proud Hindu/Sanatan Dharmi but I admire Ambedkar & followed his principles in my long career

Ikshvaku dynasty was a dynasty founded by the legendary king Ikshvaku.
22 out of 24 Jain Tirthankara belonged to this dynasty. Rishabha(Ikshvaku) is present in both Hindu as well as Jain mythology.
Both refers to the same person. Prince Siddhartha (Gautama Buddha) belonged to ikshvaku dynasty in 139th generation.
Ikshvaku (इक्ष्वाकु, ikṣvāku), was 2nd generation king or rather the 1st king of this dynasty. His name originally was Rishabha.
When he was exhausted during hunting and was about to die, a Rishi saved him by providing Ikshu (Sugar cane) Rasa (Juice).
His voice became sweet and he was named Ikshvaku (one who speaks sweetly).

You seem to have very superficial knowledge of Buddhism and Hinduism both
1. You mention differences in the method. Both religions believe in meditation yoga mantra puja yantra puja and tantra puja to reach the goal
@enigmaNope you're talking about just one school of thought in Hinduism. We have godless schools of thought as well.

He ruled the Kingdom of Kosala in ancient India. Acoording to the Vishnu Purana, he had a hundred sons, among whom the eldest was Vikukshi.
Ikshvaku‘s another son, named Nimi, founded the Videha dynasty.

Did buddha ever ask or approve of buddhism as a religion?
@enigma siddharth gautam must have heard of maharishi gautam, his gotra rishi and being born to king suddodhana in shakya kshatriya class must have witnessed and experienced the teachings of sanatan dharma. Yes both terinologies hinduism or buddhism weren't there but buddism in my question i meant that did buddha ask for a seperate sect of people to dissociate from sanatan dharma and to only follow his teachings or did he only want to combine his school of thought to the sanatan dharma...
@enigma no, we are all Sanatanis
Can't say about Buddhism or Buddha that whether Buddha was a Hindu or not. Because Buddha beLonged to the Shakya community in ancient greater Magadha. And it is not cLear from historicaL evidences that whether they were the foLLowers of Vedic reLigion or not. But yes Guru Nanak was definiteLy a Hindu. His parents were Khatri Hindus

The story of Krishna occurs in the Jataka tales in Buddhism, for example.[36] The Vidhurapandita Jataka mentions Madhura (Sanskrit: Mathura); the Ghata Jataka mentions Kamsa, Devagabbha (Sk: Devaki), Upasagara or Vasudeva, Govaddhana (Sk: Govardhana), Baladeva (Balarama), and Kanha or Kesava (Sk: Krishna, Keshava).[37][38]
The Arjuna and Krishna interaction is missing in the Jataka version. Mistaking Krishna for a Deer, Jara throws a spear that fatally pierces his feet, causing Krishna great pain and then his death.[40]
At the end of this Ghata-Jataka discourse, the Buddhist text declares that Sariputta, one of the revered disciples of the Buddha in the Buddhist tradition, was incarnated as Krishna in his previous life to learn lessons on grief from the Buddha in his prior rebirth:
Then he [Master] declared the Truths, and identified the Birth: 'At that time, Ananda was Rohineyya, Sariputta was Vasudeva [Krishna], the followers of the Buddha were the other persons, and I myself was Ghatapandita."
- Jataka Tale No. 454, Translator: W. H. D. Rouse[
No surprise that either appears in one another's mythologies, as Buddhism is an offshoot of Hinduism.

@KUMAR SANIL There is no such thing as "Brahminism". It was Nirvana based buddhist cult vs Vedic metaphysics based hindu/dharmic tradition, represented in the form of temples, deities, sanskrit mantras, rituals, symbols, festivals, pilgrimage centers, puranas, sashthras (dance, music, science), yoga/meditation etc.

Today a misconception has been created that the word Hindu is of Foreign origin. It has not been mentioned in Vedas and other Hindu scriptures. And yes the word Hindu has not been mentioned in Vedas. This word Hindu has been actuaLLy mentioned in the ancient Zorastrian text Zenda Avesta. The word Hindu is a very ancient word but this word was very rareLy used in ancient times. That,s why the word Hindu is not found in most of the ancient books and inscriptions. So there is a misconception that the word Hindu is a recent word. But the word Hindu is a very ancient word but it,s use is recent. This word became very popuLar after the coming of the Britishers. It began to be frequentLy used after the arrivaL of the Britishers. And actuaLLy Vedic reLigion and Zorastrianism came from the same reLigion. SimiLarLy Shramana reLigion and the Harrapa mohenjodaro reLigion aLso originated from the same reLigion
This misconception was intentionally created by British intellectuals and Secularists.
Today this so called Hindu/Brahmanical invasion theory (Aryan Invasion theory) is used by Muslims, Christians to justify Islamzation, Christianization of India saying if Hindus can come from outside and convert everybody and take control of the land then why can't Islam or Christianity do the same? so these Islamists, communists, Christians us this anti-indegenious anti-native conspiracy theories for their expansionist world domination political ideologies against indigenous natives across the world.

People think Gautama & his teachings after attaining moksha is different from sanatan dharma teachings ??
He took sanyas , had self realisation & got moksha following intense tapascharya in hindu way , but did he become something else after having moksha other than hindu ?
And people made him another religion . 🤷♀️
What he taught us (there is suffering , cause of suffering , astangik marg , method to get nirvana )after obtaining siddhi is the essence of sanatan dharma . Words can be different but lessons are same . Read SrimadvagabatGita & u will understand karmayog , gyanyog , bhaktiyog , methods of self realisation & methods of seeking mukti or moksha better . Understanding Hinduism is not a matter of joke , whether you follow it or not doesn't matter , but hindus are not followers , believers of anything 🙏 so it needs patience & deep thinking to understand our rich philosophy & logic behind all sanskara , rituals ,customs, culture , concept of devi devta , ishwar , vagban , paramatma , self realisation , karma , different methods of mukti or moksha for different people .

Dashnami tradition is happening of post Budha period and started by Shankara, most probably during Harshvardhana period.
For that matter I feel Jainism and Sikhism have the same underlying philosophies which are straight out of the vedas
They should all unite and come under the umbrella of Sanatana dharma.
Please do a program spreading the similarities of all these Indic religious beliefs. Also there is strength in numbers against the proselytising Abrahamic faiths.
Stop your communal thoughts to intervene with your true nature.
What is the birth year of your vishnu ,the fake god of fake religion ?

He was cremated as as per Hindu tradition! The religion Buddhism started around 100 years after the death Buddha.
Its not Christians but Communist in India. Most Dalits converted to Buddhism so they found a reason to divide Hinduism and Buddhism by portraying as if Buddha was Anti Hindu.

Both agree and wish that there should be harmonious and friendly relations between both ancient (the Vedic and the Ṣramana) traditions. If there has been any misconception in this matter in the minds of the people of the neighbouring countries, it should be removed at the earliest.
The following was agreed:
Hinduism and Buddhism are the same with some changes and therefore we can proudly say that HINDUISM is the largest populated religion of the world.
But Wikipedia says that there's no belief of 'atma' or soul or self in Buddhism because Buddha said 'Anatta' or 'Anatma' ie no self/ soul. How can we confirm?
They call it shoonya.

But while preaching his philosophy he remarked, Eśa dhamma sanantana - “This is the eternal dharma.”
Buddha clearly and firmly supported the doctrine of rebirth.

The founder of Jainism was also a king, also related to Ram, was one of his ancestors. So why Jainism saw a rise like Bhudhism?
Are you talking about mahvir swami? I think he was 26th tirthankar of Jain sampradaya

DEBUNKING SOME MYTHS AND MISCONCEPTIONS PREVALENT IN INDIAN SUB-CONTINENT ABOUT BUDDHA DHARMA
"A corollary to the above misconception is that the Buddha actually taught what was in the Vedas but his disciples either did not understand his teaching or distorted them.
Till then Buddhism was still flourishing strong in the Indian subcontinent."

Koenraad Sir's knowledge is astounding and a great oppty to learn for us
Buddha rejected the Vedas or at least the karma Khanda or the ritualistic practices and sacrifices.
The history shows, integration blurres all contours away.
please don't say every religion teach the same thing lord buddhas teaching is way different from other spiritual leaders teaching
Everything is same only difference is that Lord Buddha denied the theory of God!!!!

Jai Shree Ram 💪🏽🚩🚩🚩
Bhuddism as a religion was started 300 years after demise of gautam buddha. Until then it was only teaching principles
Brahma and Indra asked Buddha to spread Dhamma in Kali Yug. Yes, Buddha was a Hindu just like Mahavir.
Joint Communiqué by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Shri Jayendra Saraswatiji of Kanchi Kamakoti Pith and Vipassanacharya Satya Narayan Goenkaji.
The Maha Bodhi Society Office, Sarnath, Varanasi. 3:30 p.m., 11 November 1999
This joint communiqué is being issued after the cordial talk between Jagadguru Shankaracharya Shri Jayendra Saraswatiji of Kanchi Kamakoti Pith and Vipassanacharya Guruji Shri Satyanarayana Goenkaji.
Both agree and wish that there should be harmonious and friendly relations between both ancient (the Vedic and the Ṣramana) traditions. If there has been any misconception in this matter in the minds of the people of the neighbouring countries, it should be removed at the earliest.
The following was agreed:
1. Due to whatever reason some literature was written (in India) in the past in which the Buddha was declared to be a reincarnation of Vishnu and various things were written about him. How the hell buddha was decendent of manu and relative of Rama?
Buddha was born in the same family of Rāma - Ikshvaaku
@@anandsai9378 rama never born!😂
@@alok9307 The descendents of Rāma, the rulers of Raghu dynasty, branched off and formed Kingdom of Kapilavastu, in which Buddha was born. If Ram was a myth, then Buddha is too...!
@@anandsai9378 buddha was a hist0rical character while r@m@ was a imagination
@@anandsai9378 Rama is historical but there are so many Ramayanas so many single word or line of Buddha in praise of Rama.

Hail Koenraad.
In ancient India, both Braahmana and Shramana existed together. Krishna's cousin Neminatha was a Jain Theerthankara.
? Indra Jal = Maya Jal It is a Hindu belief that Brahm is in everything in every being.
Very interesting lecture
