A neighbour of mine has a Revolt set up with 30 mm road tyres. Ok, he's younger and fitter, but he flew past me the other day riding it, whilst I was on my road bike. That's the beauty of Gravel, one bike with two sets of wheels could be all you need.
@@workinprogress1098 Would have loved to have got that, but I was on a budget, and had a couple of ten speed cassettes I could use, so i went with the Advanced 3. The Terracotta color is still nice, but nothing compared to that blue-green sparkle.
Considering the fatter, heavier tires & the standard pedals (at least an extra 6 oz. for the pedals alone), it's understandable the Gravel is heavier. Though at a bit under 3lbs (1.5 Kg), surprising (but the scale doesn't lie).
Just changed my wheels for a set of dt swiss alloy ones with 360 hub and a set of gravel king sk tyres ( $800 aud all up)...So much smoother and faster...Made me realise that the giant wheel set up as it came was the weak part of the build.....Just changing the standard tyres will take the feel to another level
Ooo, nice upgrade. The tyres I have review well, but I was thinking keeping this set up for winter and getting an upgraded summer wheel and tyre. I'll look into yours, which wheel was it you got
@workinprogress1098 I am sure it's the equivalent to their gravel 1600... someone bought a cervelo gravel bike new and upgraded the wheel set before it left the shop... in this case, it's just named gravel line.. .ahh, the smoke and mirrors of marketing ... anyway, they are a step up from the giants...I nearly spent$1500 aud on some shimano gravel ones but I'm happy with these . Good luck
Mine's on order via my work's Cycle2Work scheme so I'll hopefully pick this up in a fortnight or so. How is it going after a few months? How is that bikeshield going? Do I need to ask Giant in Swansea to put it on for me before it leaves the shop? Have you put it on everywhere or just where it might chipped from stones flying up? Cheers!
Not yet, but it's on the cards. I'm keen to narrow the gap between the two bikes. The current setup is slower and needs more effort, so something a little easier on the road would be nice.
@@workinprogress1098 would definitely be keen to hear about that. I just had my TCR stolen. So, in the market for a new bike. Trying to decide between Defy and Revolt. Mainly ride road but would like a more relaxed position now that I'm older. Defy may not be all that relaxed in it's latest incarnation but Revolt maybe too upright or just not to good on the road, as I still like speed 🤔
My rides are still mainly road and the wheel / tyre set up is overly gravel biased for me, so I'm hoping I can get a good balance with the more relaxed position too.

Would be interested to know what wheel and tyre set up he went for. I'm starting to research, but there is a lot of options.
That color is stellar.
Thanks. It is amazing when the light hits it.

Oh no, I like that Terracotta 👍🏼 Oddly when I was looking, the 2 was on sale, so cheaper than the 3
Gravel is great for those tracks and trails.

I will do a follow up video. The bike should arrive with some protection. I added some more, but did mess it up.
Hope you enjoy the bike. 👍🏼
Have you tried this with other tyres/wheels yet? I'd be interested to know how it feels on the road with 32c slicks compared to your old Defy.

It's a M/L. I'm 5 11.

You know, Shimano make wide versions of their shoes
Interesting, I didn't know. Thanks
Flat pedals are more comfortable and safer
