    I am part of a church in NZ that had to leave the NZ Diocese after we did the same thing a few years ago. We had to leave our buildings behind and we now meet in a school staff room. But we still meet! Good is good and we will stay true to His word 👍

    For those who have not visited St Helen's Bishopsgate in the City of London, I can highly recommend it. This is a very historic church built in the early 13th Century and has survived intact, including avoiding the Great Fire of 1666 and the Blitz in 1941/42. It was the frequented church of William Shakespeare. I also fully support the Rector of St Helen's in his current stand, and hope that the General Synod comes to its senses later this year and rejects the ludicrous proposals currently supported by the House of Bishops.

    • @ianholloway3778
      @ianholloway3778 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand that the Bible says women shouldn't be in positions of church leadership and that it is contrary to the Bible to bless a same-sex sexual relationship but in the original languages it doesn't have any restrictions on men who just find themselves attracted to men. It only refers to those the who take the active and passive sexual roles with other men. The Bible doesn't even have blanket terms for someone's sexual orientation. We need to define our terms clearly in this debate as it is easy to confuse attraction with what the Bible defines as sinful action. Some people will use gay/homosexual in a context purely to refer to a person's basic default attraction rather than implying anything else. In other contexts it can imply associated behaviour. The Bible doesn't rule out miraculous changes to people's attractions but it doesn't promise that all Christians will be freed of every illness, burden and struggle or temptation so why should a Christian man who still has same-sex attractions be treated differently to other naturally imperfect Christian men whom Christ died for?

    I am glad that under William Taylor the church is not just continuing the practice of bible teaching but now making a much needed stand for righteousness and truth.

For some period of time the branch will continue to grow and even appear like it is alive but will slowly start to die. What we are seeing now is the physical culmination of that separation. We are seeing the spiritual destruction of the the Anglican Church.

    How is what St. Helen's is doing different from what the Church of England Evangelical Council is proposing? It sounds very similar, Evangelical churches severing ties with revisionist bishops without formally leaving the CofE. The only difference I see is that St. Helen's is doing this on a congregational level, and CEEC wants to take it to the provincial level.

      That's a fair question. I suppose that St. Helen's tone is more forthright and bold. Rev Taylor took no prisoners in his video, whereas CEEC have felt far more conciliatory and weak. Also the CEEC didn't mention GAFCON or alternative oversight.

      @@RevBrettMurphy Isn’t the whole point of the Third Province idea is so they could have oversight outside of Canterbury and York?

      @@jamesaustin1988 Yes I think that's the aim. Getting the CofE hierarchy to agree to such a radical restructuring is a whole different kettle of fish. My gut says it will never happen.

      @@RevBrettMurphy Surely a clean separation, negotiated with the Bishop of the Diocese, is the best way forward - rather than prolonged and expensive court battles....

    The question is why true believers haven't left the Church of England earlier. They have been apostate for decades.

      I think basically because there have been pockets of biblical faith where amazing gospel work was done. But now the whole denomination has crossed a red line for many biblical Anglicans. I agree though the compromises began long ago...

    Clear message you spoke, and as an American I will pray for the orthodox people in the Church Of England, and God bless you.

    I would find it really helpful to have set out the scriptural basis for the (I can't properly say 'orthodox' but I hope you know what I mean) position on these issues, as people tend to refer to scripture without giving 'citations' (common law lawyers and scientists use 'citations' to show the basis for their case). Clearly, the hierarchy's position is 'novel' and they never seem to refer to scripture at all, but it would be nice to see the basis for the positions, even if in outline.

    It's years since I went to St. Helen's … in fact I'm talking Dick Lucas era, so that's quite a while! I didn't agree with Dick's stance on Reformed theology but that aside he was someone who taught scripture faithfully! I strongly support William Taylor in his stance on the biblical aspect of marriage, not that my support will make much of a difference, but the church as a whole needs those who will stand up and be counted and William Taylor is someone who needs all the support he can get! I pray the The Lord will continue to bless St. Helens as they stay firm on the word of God!

    In my first job (nearly 60 years ago) I used to go to St Helen’s Bishopsgate for lunch. Even then the ministry there was amazing with the vast crowd who went in response to its weekday pastoral ministry to City workers within The Square Mile. I shall watch it with interest.
    It’s worth saying that the decline we’re all seeing in the C of E has been building slowly since as far back as the 19th century at least! It’s not a new phenomenon but shows that Anglicans have been insufficiently vigilant hitherto and have permitted the cancer to spread and thrive.

    I’m getting nervous because I love Anglicanism but I’m scared my church is falling apart. The only other church near me is a Catholic one and I’m scared I might have to convert if the COE situation gets much worse
