MEGA Coral Trout - Jigging the Great Barrier Reef

  • This is pretty much as good as jigging for trout gets, Part 2 of our GBR trip, fishing again with Ron From Compleat Angler Cairns and Brendo the meterey slayer.
    Jigs were lost, sharks were hungry and fish were caught!!
    Ron shows us where the fish live in his bloody super yacht, Brendo see's the value of a heavy jig combo after getting roasted (alot) but gets a proper lord trout on a Pe4 Oceans Legacy Slow Element, and I got unlucky twice with fish high on my bucket list - Iron jaw and a metre plus blue spot trout.
    I started off fishing my Pe3 Slow Element with Pe3 Siglon ADV (35lb) and got some good fish using 80g and 120g Nomad Buffalo Jigs rigged with BKK Sea Rangers. However there were some proper big fish mixed in that blew me away on that so I opted for the Pe 5 Elementus with Pe5 Siglon (80lb) to give myself a chance at a trophy most of the time. We fished depths mostly between 30m to 70m and was using Nomad Buffalo Jigs in 180g and 230g rigged with BKK 4/0 Lentus assists, first time really pushing these assists and fishing 80lb braid - 130lb leader hard, I didn't manage to even bend one, very impressed!!
    Pretty happy with this edit, one of my best yet if I do say so myself. If you like what you see hit that SUBSCRIBE BUTTON!
    Enjoy!!

    Man, there are so many delicious and good eating fish! I ❤them either to be deep fried and cooked them with sweet, spicy and sour sauce or just steamed them with ginger, garlic, spring onions, pepper , chili 🌶️ and light soya sauce!❤❤

    Hey Mick, really appreciate you running us through your rigs and jigs, that was a great trip to the Hardline, who doesn't love O/S trout? Can you give us some tips about where you're fishing at different tide times? Current pressure points etc?

    • @Micksgonefishing
      @Micksgonefishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We were completely winging it on this trip, I’d never fished there and Most of the spots we fished we’d sounded up on the run between fishing the reef flats. We just picked a fair few of the better spots off the Simrad sea maps (I think that’s what it’s called.) based on current direction and pressure points and where we thought the fish would hold. If there was bait, current and structure we sent em down 👌🏻

      @@Micksgonefishing - Cheers Mick - sounds a lot like what my mates and I aim to do - just need to get in the right spot at the right tide, with current and bait fish around...... keep up the vids mate, they're great.

      Sorry mate, very hard to please everyone with tunes to amp up the slow parts or to play over background noise. I’d prefer a brutal metal riff or something cool but some would hate that too.. I’m limited to what I can use with copyright.. I don’t mind the songs I used they set the pace, the sound is a bit off and loud in some places but hey I’ll get there, haven’t been doing this too long and I’m wingin it by meself 😅
