I was surprised to see how similar this carving style is to the method I use when carving leather such as is done with the Tandy leather carving tools. The main difference is the tooling mallet I use to set patterns as background.
Замечательно. А фрезером так не сделаешь. Точнее, сделать можно, но срез дерева не будет так блестеть - ведь резаком заглаживаются поры древесины. Имхо, конечно.

もう30年以上前に、洞爺湖温泉の土産物屋でアイヌ文様のイチイ材の小さな盆を買いました。今では濃い茶色でものすごく艶がでていい感じになっています。
