I always recommend Rolling Wrench. Matt is one cool dude. I got over 5,000 miles with my Taida 61mm kit. Still ran like the day I installed it when I sold the bike.
Sweet video man. Finally started riding my gen v again (been raining too much). Pretty similar build, 171 with the t100 and big valve head. Im running that chinese fuel injection kit though, tuning took a lot of time, but it works for the most part. I dont let it self adjust with the narrowband o2 sensor it comes with though, it doesnt like the little bit of cam overlap, it felt too lean for my liking. There's still way more I'd like to do with the tune, but I'd rather just ride and enjoy it for a while. Im on 12" wheel with a fatty rear, the gear up that i went with was 16/38, the ncy variator clutch kit, id like to swap my clutch spring lower though its a 1500, but clutch grabs at like 4000rpm, which is fun but annoying for trying to ride normal. I think im running 13 gram sliders in the variator. She can break 70mph and i cap at like 7600rpm. It loves riding 55 ish at 6000 rpm though. Glad to see others modding now. Wasnt many people doing it when the gen v came out
All my clutch and torque or contra springs are still stock. I actually like how it takes off like it is. I really want to try that expensive reveno motorcycle style clutch.
I would check with the DOT about what size the engine has to be on a motorcycle to ride it on a highway. Most states say you have to have at least a 250cc to ride on a highway.
After doing everything you have done and buying this bike what would you advise someone to do who wants this style of bike? I have lots of regular gy6 mopeds. Tao and rocketa types. I want the style you have here. I'll buy it new, I just don't know what online place to get it from and what exact model and generation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, the electric fuel pump, with the regular moped types with the tank higher than the carburetor, the electric pump probably won't help correct?
I did a video showing gravity is way fastest and electric pump is slowest. Vacuum does not work cause bike makes no vacuum when demand for fuel is highest. Gravity would need NO pump for sure. I got mine from Cajun Maddogs. Best prices and service I could find. Look on Icebear ATV website at diff models. Just depends which you like looks of. They are all about the same.
Oh... and I got a Gen 5 cause the 14" wheels... but the suspension sucks cause less travel. The Gen 4 has great suspension and single shock but has 12" wheels and skinny back tire. But ya they are all about the same.
@ZCRAIZED1 The Gen 1 has wide 210 on back and is a 12" rim. My Gen 5 is 14" and has a 185. The Gen 5 wheel and tire will bolt up to the Gen 4 but the side may hit the shock. Then you have to get a offset shock like NCY makes. The Gen 5 shock mount is a little farther out
@@GhettoWrench I very much appreciate your advice. I can fabricate most things but I want to start out with the best generation so there is less needing to be done. I don't know if the generation is in the name of the bike or how to determine what generation one is. I looked at the website you suggested. There are a few models on therebut only one I saw that said generation 5. I am unsure if that means the other models are a different generation or if they just didn't include the number. Thanks again for all of your help and videos.
Hi guy! Everything you do is very cool! Thank you for that! I have a question for you! What is the fuel consumption with all this configuration? When driving calmly and when driving dynamically (at full throttle)? Thanks for the answer!
Thank you. I don't know the numbers because I never figured it out. But when we are just cruising around it gets great mileage. When we ride them hard they get terrible mileage. For example though My wife has a Vespa 150. Just cruising we fill up 3 times to her 1 time.
It's really dumb and simple.... I bought one those big ragged looking American flag stickers off ebay for cheap that people put on their truck tailgates. Used the stripes from that and ran down the length of the bike. Then got the ragged looking jeep star stickers for the battery cover.
I can only afford what I can get on Amazon and I would like to get a Big bore do you know which one on Amazon would be the best one that I could get. I have a 150 ice bear Challenger I'm probably doing about 65 now would it even be worth me getting a Big or should I just try some of the hacks that you are talking about in the video
Honestly the extra 20cc of a big bore is not that much. Most people only want to tear things down and build 1 time so they do a bunch of mods at once. They go faster but some of their mods like the CDI might have made them slower even though overall they are faster. That big bore alone is only worth 2mph. The Cam and PWK and Electric pump (if you are not gravity fed fuel) were my biggest gains. My kids bike is the red one in my last video. Be is doing 70 and that is only a 150. It has a $42 cam and $13 PWK 28mm and $20 electric pump on it. LOL. He gets all the cheap stuff.
@MoH_Dank they have poor communication, but that is only downside. They are an actual brick and morter bike shop. Good dudes. The website is jank. You can call them to order also. It's the only way to go.
Hi there I’m new to your channel and I’m loving all the info. Question: I’m Looking at a maddog 150 either gen 4 or gen 5.. I watched ur other video but which is easier to put fat tire on back. Thanks
I have not fat tired a Gen 5 yet as it actually looks pretty fat in real life. ... but not stretched. I think to get a stretched look you would need to go wider on the Gen 5 and also need to drop down to a 13" or 12" wheel. Mainly cause on the 14" wheel the stretched tire might hit the engine case. I also have figured out the required hub spacing yet. The Gen 4 was pretty easy so I may go with that one.
I got the 150 maddog trike, I got someone to put an electric fuel pump on it to make it go faster. I barely still get it to 50mph. Do you think doing all this would work on the trike also?
How fast was it before like 48? Ya all this will make it faster, but a trike has a lot more drag and weight with that rear end so it will never be as fast as the bikes get. I think 50 trikes barely do 20mph.
@@GhettoWrench no, I was barely getting it to 40 mph. I got it from Cajun Maddog the guy said they can put a kit on it to make it go faster but idk 🤷♀️ I’m thinking about just keeping it like it is and buy a 150cc 2 wheeler maddog and get that one to go faster.
@missylou122577 ya that "kit" will not make it faster at all. Maybe slower. NCY CDI is slower than the stock one. The NCY coil makes absolutely no difference. The Mikuni fuel pump would be a waste as you are electric. A larger variator could make it faster as it gears it up, but you do not have the power to max out the speed with your current stock gearing so gearing up would make it a dog.
