I like that it follows the minecraft recepi of players discoverinf a glitch/bug, then turning it into a contraption, due to how much the players love the glitch mojang has to let it remain in the game as a feature, and then repeat.

Portals are more of an endgame feature, you use it to quickly go to different parts of the galaxy. You get all glyphs once you complete the main questline. You can get them on your own but its very time consuming. And by the way, you just "doxed" your location in the universe by showing this to us :) dont be suprised if some player visits you :)

    • @temporaltribe
      @temporaltribe 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

The glyphs are easy to find, you just need to go to the planet that has all 16 glyphs.

This is the type of game where you keep discovering new things, new tricks, new techniques even after 700+ hours. The world is so open, you often run into things that you don't know how, or cannot yet, use. This all starts to make more sense after you find out, or read upon, or get tips from others. Even some bugs of this game became hidden features. Like melee jump, glitch building, base expanding etc.

First, welcome to the game! Second... you can change the flight mechanics from fly by wire to a fixed display, it's much better. Also, if you want to you can change to first person view. My last tip for early game without spoiling, SCAN EVERYTHING. You get credits for everything you scan, and other rewards later... so definitely go scan crazy. Every rock, every tree, every strange critter. Lots of fun re-experiencing the game through your eyes. ;)

Every star system has a portal, but you don't have the glyphs yet. The storyline will give you them all, or you can talk to the flickery travelers in the space station and interact with them and they will give you directions, you find their death cache and then you get a glyph to the portal. Do that 16 times on different planets when you find a flicker lifeform in the space station, or play the story line.

Atlas Passes are something you'll need to construct, after learning the blueprints. V1 gets you the "secure" cargo pods, and access to what I call the Officers' Club on space stations (port side, all the way forward on the upper level.) You'll need V3 to access a secure area beyond that.
Junk can be recycled. Do it. It's worth it.
Crashed ships that you claim, can be summoned later, no matter where you are, provided they can safely launch. So you can claim a ship, get it flightworthy, then summon it to your base later on, without loss. If it needs a lot of work, that's actually the better way to do it.
Your primary starship will follow you if you go through a teleporter. You won't be stuck on foot in a space station, say, with no way out.
If Sentinels come after you on a planet, HIDE. If they lose track of you, they'll leave you alone. But if you try to fight them, they'll keep bringing in escalating reinforcements.
Sentinels attacking a Settlement, however, SHOULD be fought. Those won't reinforce.

Btw. when you use your terrain manipulator you can adjust the size of the beam with T and R. The smaller the beam the more resources you can get from a deposit but it also takes a lot longer. I personally always find it super tedious to find the right deposit on a planet so I always use the smallest beam to get everything I need from just one deposit.

I am doing that but it feels like every time I‘m looking for a uranium deposit on an irradiated world for example all I find are copper/salt/silver/... deposits at first. And then I have to walk (or ride) in a random direction for ages and hope that the deposit I‘m looking for is in that direction. And then it takes another minute or so of walking to actually get there. Maybe I‘m just exceptionally unlucky when it comes to finding the resource I need but that‘s why I find it tedious.

So much I would love to talk about. I ordered the game during pre-launch and never really thought about returning it. Investigate everything. Check out as many planets as you want. If you find the starting galaxy crowded get to the galaxy core and find tw next galaxy. I'm on my 5th galaxy now and have been for a few months, I haven't found even one system that's been discovered by someone else. Do tasks, find stories, create a story for yourself and if you ever see a kind of lizard cat alien all in pink and named Ameesa, come say Hi.

Nice! I saw your reaction video on NMS and now we get to see you play it too! When you go to a new system, always go to the space station, it will allow you to use the teleporterl on the staton/base to warp to that system again. So lets say you found a super cool planet, jumped 10 times to other systems. instead of having to jump 10 times back to that system, you can just use the teleporter on any station/base to get there quickly. Have fun!

FYI, multiplayer and single player are virtually the same thing. When you choose multiplayer, you pick another player that's in your friend list (you have to set that up either by having Steam friends or entering other players' NMS codes), then pick out the save file that you'll be using. Your game is loaded up and everything plays like normal except that you'll go into the game in the same system as the other player and he'll always be marked on your HUD. As you play, everything is saved like normal except for your current position. Once you load up your game again in single player mode, everything you earned will be there but you'll pick up at the same single-player location you left off at.

Your character doesn’t understand the glyphs yet, you’ve gota unlock them first. You can get them from NPC traveler gravesites, and from The Atlas quest line of the main campaign. It should mark it for you like you said, but you can always write down / screenshot the latitude and longitude coordinates of a location you want to return to. Both your visor (top right) and the dashboard of your starship (bottom left) displays them. The first number is positive for °N and negative for °S (from planets equator), and the second is positive for °W and negative for °E (from planets prime meridian).
    P.S.
Your exosuit has a camera; activates the games screenshot assistant. So it’s def not cheating. It turns on invulnerability so that you wont die while trying to snap a photo, and you can change the sun position in it to get the lighting right (sun returns to real position when exiting camera).

    Oh man oh man.
I hope other people answered your questions already, but lemme try to give some answers without spoilers. (also, love the Chrono Trigger OST at the end of the video, you got a new subscriber)
*The portals, you can get the glyphs through the story or manually through some missions at space stations, but they are usually only a means to transport through the galaxy (and the galaxy alone). You can't go in them unless you have at least one or two glyphs.
*About going back to planets, just going to the space station in the system (star you warp to) and activating the teleporter in there (just opening the window, you don't need to teleport) will register that station and let you warp to it from any teleporter - it even tells you the system you are in, the last one you were in, and where your freighter is when you get one. So you can just leave your freighter, a base computer, or select the station if available to go to a certain system and planet.
*The lore in this game is hard to find and squeeze out when you're doing free exploration, but it's gonna blow your mind, specially as you do the main quest. There's also endgame content now - you've seen the locked race at the character customization, right? There's a LOT of extra stuff, but you'll need to finish the main story and THEN look for those.
*Yes, the start is very rough, but flat out starting the basics will still be rough for some time until they decide to update the starting mission AGAIN (it was even rougher before) so I'd suggest you try the expedition anyway because the current one isn't hard, and you get a jumpstart of materials, ships and stuff in general before the game actually starts. If not, be aware that there should be an expedition 12 before the end of the year, and a Remix going from expeditions 9 to 12 in a much quicker and easier fashion, enabling you to get their exclusive rewards once again. You WILL want to take part in the Expedition 9 Remix for a unique ship! ((POSSIBLE SPOILER)) Be aware that every expedition has different rules and quests, but they all have added lore that is hard to find outside of them, if possible at all. Another thing to keep in mind is that the current Expedition 11 does not take place in the galaxy you start the normal game in, but in another one further down the list that is... "safer" and with more paradise-like planets.
*A tip: There is a key bind to change the size of your terrain manipulator. The bigger it is, the faster you mine, but the smaller it is, the more materials you can get from mineral deposits like copper. It can double or triple the amount for the tradeoff of time. If you really need to squeeze out some material from a small ore vein, keep this in mind.
Hope you keep playing. Safe travels, Space Cowboy!

I'm enjoying watching you play this game for the first time. I have nearly 2000 hours in this game total. I play on PC but with an xbox controller. It's one of the games I always find myself going back to due to everything that can be done even without following the main or secondary missions, though one needs to enjoy the grind to enjoy this game since there is a lot of it within. I think they should have provided the Atlas passes much earlier than you can unlock them after you gain the nanites to do so. I find that I don't really need them by the time I get them unlocked. I hope you enjoy your time in this game! You can mark any location you want to return to just by putting down a base computer. You can have something like 400 bases (more than that I think) but can not go over something like 16,000 or 20,000 base pieces total.

I used to play Minecraft, but I was an explorer at heart and hated how I needed to have a base that I couldn't take with me and ultimately couldn't do much in the game without being sedentary. I also got bored with the exploration. Even with mods, everything eventually started looking the same...
Then I discovered NMS. I always find something to do here. I don't have to build farms if I don't want to, I have to build bases if I don't want to, and I can just go from planet to planet, explore on foot, gather resources, upgrade stuff, but new ships, accomplish missions, explore derelict freighters lost in space...and marvel at the tid-bits of story I come across and the beauty of arriving on a planet with bright blue grass, red trees, bubbles everywhere and rings in the sky.
I always loved sandboxes, but I left eventually. But not this one. NMS has become one of my two favorite games...

I think the first few hours of NMS are so rough on purpose.
You are supposed to be hopelessly lost with nothing and no idea where you are. You gotta start from zero with no memory of what happened.
And then you gradually learn how to do things and eventually... when you have a few million spacebucks and your ship has some upgrades and doesn't fly like a shopping cart... you feel accomplished. It makes the experience valuable.
And when you have you money-making method nailed down, and a freighter with frigates and 8 ships in the hangar, with 10 storage units brimmed with stuff you will likely never even need... you will think to yourself "holy hell... remember when we were shooting rocks and running all over, constantly having to deal with a full inventory 😂😂😂😂 wow."
Once you know everything and have all the knowledge, starting a new save is actually awesome. The beginning of the game is the best part cus its never the same twice, and when you know what to do its not frustrating. Its really fun, at least for me, to do all the "establishing yourself" stuff, finding the ships and gear I want and upgrading it all, trying to make my fortune.
Cus once you played for long enough, you will be a Baller that doesn't need to work for anything... and thats half the game you don't need to play anymore.

If love to see more of you playing this. Whenever you're looking at a place and it says it'll take a while to get there, fly out of atmosphere and realign with the waypoint. You fly faster in space than in atmosphere. The Gate with the symbols is like a Stargate from the movies/tv series. That was the local address you took a screenshot of. You can use those symbols at another gate yo go to that one. Most people tend to leave a base computer and teleporter at these to return later. You can name it something to remind you what it is and why you want to return. (Edited for spelling.)

I dunno how much more you ended up playing. It's been six months since this video and this is the first video I've seen of yours.
But, see. I couldnt even care less that NMS is one of those sandboxy crafting survival Minecraft type games. I kept most of the settings normal, but turned off some of the fuel things to make it just a little less tedious and more chill.
For me, what I absolutely love about the game, is the space. The one thing it has to get right. Because see, I'm like this guy, i love space. I may not know a ton about the science of it, but...the whole thing in general, I'm all about it. So for me, just flying through space, from planet to planet, adding to my discoveries, landing on planets and sightseeing or collecting misc resources, stopping by the local space station to see how the prices are doing and if I have anything worth selling there, upgrading stuff a little at a time... Like, all of that general nothing busywork. That's the stuff I love.
I mean, think about it. You're on a planet. You get in your ship, take off, manually fly up and off the planet into space. You can then, from there, manually fly yourself to another planet in the system (or use the pulse engine, but that's beside the point). Where you then, again manually, fly your ship down to the surface and land, get out, and explore. No loading screens, no teleporting, no cutscene breaking up your gameplay. It's all real time. You stand on a planet, look up, see another planet. You can just up and go to it. Like, as a huge space fan, that super basic concept of taking off an landing on another planet....is nuts. It's actually such a ridiculously cool thing to be able to do. Every single time I load No Man's Sky up, I have to just stop and look around in awe of just how cool it is. "Oh, there's a planet up there that's a cool color and has some neat rings, I think I'm gonna check it out." And you just DO IT. You just hop in your ship and go check it out like it's no big deal. And that's so COOL GODDAMMIT.
And that's all before even talking the rest of the game-y stuff, and other massive amount of content. Missions, weekly missions, group online mission progress rewards, the actual main story missions, the freighters, base building, being able to hire a crew to handle both the frieghter and base, farming, underwater stuff, the sentinals, hostile alien things, anamolies, glitch planets, and in the most recent update, custom ships.
AND THEN the fact that this game has some like, 256 entire galaxies, each containing like, trillions of stars, all of which have a minimum of 2 planets.
Plus....being able to play the entire game, every single thing, multiplayer. With other players.
I sound like a damn sponser for the game, but like, for real. This game is ridiculous. It has flaws, sure. There's things that could be better, and there'll always be things that could be added. AND there's still stuff missing that was talked about before the game even launched, that'd be nice to see get added.
But considering every single update for No Man's Sky has been free, and almost every proper update is nearly an entire DLC Expansion's worth of content (again, for free)... I'd say this game deserves the praise.

Nice vid! Keep making videos. I just started NMS as well. First hour for me was rough. I was losing patience with the user interface and the weird messages/menus you have to go through when doing quests/ grabbing items. to go first person go the the as if you are recharging go to the far left ad you can switch first/3rd on foot or on ship, you can also hot key things on PC, when using the terrain manipulator, smaller balls get you more resources but its slower, larger gets you less but faster

Not sure if you've already figured this out. There is a way to go into third person while piloting the ship and there is a way to look around to see where you are landing.
To go into 3rd person ship view you need to go through the "X" menu in flight.
To look around either inside the cockpit or while in third person piloting, i believe you need to hold "C" snd move your mouse on PC. However I usually have a PS4 hooked up to my computer that I find much easier to use as a flight controller. With the PS4 controller, looking around is as easy as moving the right thumbstick instead of scrambling on a keyboard to look for the right key to hold mid-flight.

Hey I just wanna confirm that you are indeed supposed to leave the athmosphere and travel in space when something is that far away. It's just much much faster just as it is in real life because of math and physics ^^ you can even look at it and engage the pusle drive (space) to get there in seconds.
Also here are some starter goals for people new to sandbox; get the best ships you can get (S class fighter, hauler, explorer, solar, etc..) get the best freighter, build stuff in freighter, get all the best components and upgrades for your exosuit, multitool and ships. :) You'll find your objectives on the way.

Don’t know if you’ve figured it out already but if you use the smallest setting to the terrain manipulator you’ll yield more than if you use the bigger ones. Sure it takes way longer but it’s worth it getting over 1000 of any of the deposit minerals.

Ag... You made one of the most common most understandable mistakes here. Since you talked to the NPCs that sell stuff for your info-seeking quest, they won't talk to you again, you'll have to go to another system to get similar items to what they were selling... Unless the developers have fixed this (I don't remember them doing it, but if they haven't I do hope they do soon. It's a pain for new players)
