Thanks for watching guys , I made this video as I feel lots of you are probably in the same situation as me with a 1-3 year old AM4 MOBO and this CPU genuinely blew my teabags off , time will tell if it ends up being as spicy as the 2500k was back in 2012 😆
Making this CPU even better is that you can sometimes find it for even cheaper than the 350 I payed , if you look at benchmarks you can also see that it stacks up really well to the newer processors on the market specifically for gaming.
For those of you with older AM4 motherboards and maybe slower ram make sure to double check compatibility and bench marks done with your equipment, as it might be better to make the switch to a new Motherboard RAM and the newer AMD AM5 or Intel LGA 1700 socket chips.

Did you test with Triple screen setup? Dan Suzuki recently found out that the 5800x3d is exactly same performance = 5600x/5800x in triple screen. So 5800x3d upgrade is not required for 1440p/4k x 3 users.
Kindly confirm your triple screen findings....
      Thanks.

Im in that exact boat on a 2070S with R5 3600 but i am eyeballing these 4000 series cards but figured i needed to upgrade mobo, ram and cpu as well then, might be good with only a gfx card and cpu then. The 5800x3d is amazing. it shows that in most cases lots of super fast cache is better than clock speed in gaming work loads. I came from a 5600x with 4.65Ghz x6 with 32MB L3 cach is blown out of the water by the 5800x3d maxing out at 4.45Ghz x8 with 96MB L3 cache. The new 7000x3d series has up to 144MB L3. These gaming CPUs are excellent for enthusiasts who aren't driven by core hungry production tasks.

And the smallest of the new X3D chips, the 7800X3D is arround 20-30% faster in games vs the 5800X3D (AMD own benchmarks in 1080p, cherry picked games). So if you get the 5800X3D for 300€, the 7800X3D should cost 30% more to be price competitive and I doubt it will be anywhere near 400€. 500-600€ street price is my bet.

It's wild you are seeing those improvments at 4k. Lower resolutions are were you normally find a CPU bottleneck as the higer res is more graphics card dependent.
Also Hardware Unboxed has been using ACC in their benchmarks for awhile now. You can really see the differances in a racing sim and a FPS in their benchmarks.

I was reluctant to tell my friends about it, 'cause expected everybody to laugh at me, as the 5600X was known as *THE* gaming beast, and nobody, including me, was expecting huge gains from a same generations's CPU with _just_ 2 cores more, lower clock speeds and some fancy cache thingy. Well, little did I know. 🙂
And I still keep that smile on my face, having seen the latest Gamers Nexus's benchmarks with the Ryzen 7000 CPUs on DDR5 memory struggling to gain significant advantages (if not even falling behind) the 5800X3D in gaming.
Speaking of ACC in VR and performance gains beyond expectations: For christmas I burned some money and surprised myself with a 4080. I cranked the Quest 2 refresh rate from 72 to 90 Hz, upped the rendering resolution, and with the current settings way beyond those the 3080ti was roaring hot at 114% power limit (~400W), the 4080 takes some 270W and doesn't get hotter than 60°C. This thing is ridiculous!

something is weird with your fps numbers, for example i run 5950x+rtx 3090 at 11520x2160 resolution (triple 4k), acc with 29ai at nurburgring at pretty much max graphical details + dlss at balanced i get 50-60fps but im completely gpu limited in that case, gpu utilization doesnt drop bellow 98%. In theory 5950x in racing sims should be relatively close to 5600x because how singlethreaded most of them are. Next raceroom racing experience, in paul ricard ~35-42 ai count (cant remember exact number) with max settings i get 70-90fps and 100% gpu limited, only if i set nordschleife with 100 ai count in RRE then i can get to 50-60fps while driving through pitlane full of cars while being cpu limited.
Now someone might say "but you are testing very different config and arguably with different cpu". Okay fair enough, lets take a look at Dan Suzuki 5600x benchmark video, at 1080p in acc he gets ~170fps, while i dont really know his testing methodology im sure he didnt test practice session while measuring cpu performance, he knows better than that. So GM's 5600x 50-60fps in acc seems abnormally low. Now GM didnt specify but does he stream on same pc? thats the only explanation i could give for such low performance

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  ปีที่แล้ว

As I said in the video it wasn't really a proper benchmark it was just an example case , I was streaming at the same time from same PC on OBS + had tons of AI Basically all worse case for CPU usage and on the old CPU I think the mobo's old BIOS had some issues where as new BIOS I installed seems to be more stable.
High rez is going to be almost totally down to GPU but id still imagine a cpu with lots of L1L2L3 will have better frame times / higher 0.01 or even 0.001% frame rates , also for cases where you have heavy mods in AC or a ton of cars in ACC or used in XP11 MSFS it could help lots, even if the average FPS ends up being similar.

The system I upgraded this CPU with is not set up for bench marking as I say in the video I think I was also having some issues with my old BIOS before it was upgraded.
All said the 5800x3D is going to be the best AM4 chip for games with anything better requiring a mobo swap.

More pixels shifts the balance to GPU, so the CPU impact would be minimal if they are only hitting 50-60% no matter which CPU is being used. However the 5800x3d has proven to edge out the other AM4 CPUs for pure game performance. My own upgrade was only from a 3700X to 5800X3D so I can't give the comparison you'd want. It did, however, make a difference even driving a 5700XT (I'm on a 6900XT now) which was unexpected. I don't believe in magic but something about the X3D did something to help my overburdened 5700XT. Back to my 6900XT: With triple screens I have GPU maxed, but not CPU. No overclocking. I wish I'd tried the 6900XT with my 3700X CPU but it isn't worth it to me to pull my rig apart for that :)
Also, that is my impressions accross everything from Cyberpunk, Witcher 3 (before the nextgen upgrade), AC, ACC, ATS/ETS2, Wreckfest, Forza 5 H, and Dirt 2. I don't race in multiplayer right now.

Proceccors with higher amounts of L1/2/3 cash should really help reduce the 0.01% and 0.001% frame lows though.
It's like just having a better lubricated system 😆.
I think there are just very specific situations and some specific games where you can see big gains due to where things might have been bottle necked on a system and other games it won't make that much of a difference.
300-350 is still lots of money for sure , but at the same time it's a great update for people on AM4 that don't want to go 4090 or don't want a full rebuild yet but want to have there system be as good as it can be for still a reasonably good value option.
Also swapping a CPU is not a huge amount of work or time so that's also appealing , where as full PC re-build can take 3-8 hours and be a bit of a pain at times.

So are Ryzen better CPU's for AC? A few years back I asked that question over at RD and was told quite convincingly that for single thread performance Intel was better. I rushed out and bought the nearest i5 to me. If Ryzen is better though I'll jump ship once more...

This is the best option if you already have an Socket AM4 amd motherboard that will take the cpu. Intels' latest 13xxx series cpus can be faster in some titles.
If you are considering switching from an Intel system to an AMD 5800x3D based one, then hold off for a month or two and see how the newly announced Ryzen 7800x3D, 7900x3D & 7950x3D cpus' compare to Intels, as all will require a new motherboard and potentially DDR5 ram too.

Intel right now and last few years I think has been better for games at the high end / when not looking for raw value for money.
AMD over last few years have been producing the best value for money chips that still perform great mid and high end but I think that might have changed last and this year for some specific system builds.
Basically if you are building a full PC its always worth double checking what you can get for you money taking into consideration the MOBO prices , the cpu prices and also how likely you are to want to upgrade and when you are likely to upgrade ( AMD typically keep the same socket type for longer than intel so potentially you could upgrade without a new mobo less often than when you have intel chips)
I think outside of productivity tasks both intel and amd are relatively matched at the moment / there is not a totally insane stand out chip from ether company , might be wrong though so double check obvously these things are constantly changing.

If you're building a new gaming PC on a budget, this is the best bang for buck if you're not concerned with upgrading the CPU again. Sits around the top of the charts for most games and is a powerhouse in VR and sims as James said. The just announced (yesterday) X3D 7000 series AMD chips destroy Intel's upcoming parts (according to a reliable industry leaker). So I'd also be leaning that way if you want the absolute best.

a lot of ppl say the 5800x is not worth upgrade to x3d, but if you are suffering from stuttering then do upgrade

    Im using a Ryzen 5 5600x and a Asus 3050 gpu 32gb ram on a b450 motherboard.
I play dcs and iracing both in VR using the Oculus rift s and my graphics and performance is poor to say the least so would this Ryzen 7 fix my problem of poor graphics and performance? ✊✌🏼💙

Its more likely to be your GPU to be honest , the CPU in this video alone wont really do that much for you.

If you're planning on upgrading, you might as well wait for ryzen 9 3d

Well no because then you need a whole new Mobo have to rebuild PC and specifically for gaming at high end with no budet in mind intel might be better option.
The reason this chip is good is that it fits in AM4 which tons of people have and is quite cheap due to it not being brand new.
