    Greater Anglia Class 745 and Class 755 are very nice. The Class 745 are very fast.

      @lewis72 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Norwich to London service is 3 minutes faster than the same journey 30 years ago.
      This is partly due to the additional stops since then.
      I'm not a fan of the 745s/755s, they're too cramped, ride quality isn't that good, seats are too hard and the NVH is nothing special either.
      Class 91s with Mk4 carriages would have been preferable.

    Thanks for the video, nice to see these trains in service! I could spot a class 745 unit in the border town of Constance/Germany, November 2018, being pulled by a german class 140 locomotive. Obviously straight from the factory and about to be delivered. I can send you a photo if you're interested. I remember some bi-mode trains and some for TransPennine Express as well during this period.

      Thanks for the information, certainly would be interested in seeing the picture you have of the 745s in Germany.

    Excellent location shooting & FLIRT tracking :)
    Now, I'm happy that for the first time in 60 years we're got some new stock running around the Norfolk & Suffolk regions as the last time we saw anything new around here was 24th Dec 1960 and a certain D6700 .... However, those cheeky marketing people at Greater Anglia are taking the p a bit about promising "more seats", particularly on the regional routes like Lowestoft-Ipswich. Basically, there were class 156's mainly doing that route, with 140 seats across two cars. And now, with the three car 755's - we have 144 seats. Yep, 4 more seats. Yay.

      @ronclark9724 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      But more of the Class 755s will have four cars, not three. There are significantly more seats with four cars. And with the 3 cars Class 755 there are considerably more seats than a single Class 153. So please don't paint a negative small picture of just four more seats, in the big picture there will be considerably more seats overall...

    Wonder how you would attach and detach coaches on these units. Some seem to have 3 passenger coaches and the rest have 4 along with the Diesel engine in the middle. They also seem to share a bogey between two coaches.

    • @LinesideSouthEast
      @LinesideSouthEast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe that these trains, like most modern multiple units are designed to work in permanently fixed formations. Swapping out a coach from the formation would be quite complicated I would imagine.

    The 755s seem to have very short carriages (not including the power units).

    • @ronclark9724
      @ronclark9724 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Stadler FLIRTs carriage is around 60 feet in length, whereas Wiki claims a Class 156 carriage is 75 feet in length.The small power unit in the middle is around 20 feet in length. These measurements are made by my feet wearing shoes, one step at a time, not an exact measurement with a tape measure with the TexRail FLIRTs in Fort Worth... :-)

    I think the 755 is a diesel locomotive and the 745 is an electric locomotive and 745 has first class and 755 has standard old seats with it being only 3-4 coaches long the 745 can have 12 coaches with it

    • @still_guns
      @still_guns 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The correct terms are DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) and EMU (Electric Multiple Unit). They are not locomotives. The 755 is actually bi-mode, so it can be both DMU and EMU (technically a DEMU).

    • @ronclark9724
      @ronclark9724 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Basically the 745s will run on the main line all the way to London Liverpool Street from Norwich, while the 755s will run on the branch lines that connect to the main line. The London service will have some first class on the 12 car 745s, the locals service will have just standard class on the 3 or 4 car 755s...

    Top speed of the 755 in electric mode vs diesel mode ?

    • @LinesideSouthEast
      @LinesideSouthEast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have no idea! Most of the time when they are on diesel mode it is over rural branch lines which have pretty low top speeds anyway. I believe they can do 100mph in electric mode.

    • @sjokomelk
      @sjokomelk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      They can run 100mph (160km/h) in both electric and diesel mode. The bi-modal 5 car Flirts delivered in Norway now can do 200km/h (125mph) in electric mode and 160km/h (100mph) in diesel mode.

    • @lewis72
      @lewis72 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's often the track and signalling that limits the top speed of a train, not the train itself.
      I think for the Norwich - London Liverpool Street service it's 100mph.
