It’s the Germans now like Mercedes with cheese timing chains and vw with head issues and turbos failing. Plus Peugeot have there engines in Volvo, Ford, Mazda, Vauxhall, Jaguar, landrover. Couldn’t be that bad 🤷♂️
Diesel 8290 I had some of the old legendary Peugeot and Citroen Cars inc diesels back in their day were good cars ,the newer ones in my experience are garbage now I’m afraid myself and friends have had the newer Peugeots & Citroen Cars and they fall apart not like the old 205 / 309 / 405 days, the 406/407 308 207/ 208 that I know of blew head gaskets at 36k - 50k wouldn’t call that particularly great , I’ll stick with BMW Or Mercedes or Honda do 200k no issues, old Peugeots used to do very high miles no issues new ones do not, not without heaps of expensive repairs and we’re not talking maintenance we’re talking poor quality build.
My wife and I rented one last year while traveling through France. Much much nicer than the competitive Jeep we rented a few months later. It’s roomy, very comfy, handles well, and got good mileage. Gobs of space for our luggage, too. I’d buy one if available.

I have a 3008 and it's a really nice car to drive! Got a lot of options for the price: full sun roof, my link, heated front seats with massage, automatic high beam at night (detects the other cars at night and changes from normal beam to high beam automatically), wireless charger for the cell phone (near the shift), cooled storage place under the arm rest between the front seats (there is a continuous flow of cool air) AND 3 years warranty with no kilometer limitation! Happy with it! (I'm living in Chile by the way)
Mildly interesting fact : This two tone color (called "Coupe Franche" in French) actually has to be hand painted. The robot at the factory paints the front in the desired color, and the rear black, but then an employee is required to properly finish the separation between the two.
Hahaha The funniest part is that his "British" version was actually very close to the real deal, I thought ok hes getting there, but then he said "and the French say pougeo" haha cracked me up. You should say it how he said for British, but flat toned with no stop or emphasis on any syllabus like "puh geoh"
lol no. First, most Americans have never heard of Peugeot. Secondly, Doug DeMuro pronounces it like that. Thirdly, most of us Americans that do actually know what Peugeot is, pronounce it correctly.
I’ve been living in Paris for few years and I got this car in 2018, it is actually really popular in Europe for good reasons. 0-60 is rather irrelevant in Europe since the speed limit in urban area is only 20 mph, but my goodness me this thing is so comfy and it handles like a dream on twisty tiny country road!
Urban speed limits are not 20mph all over Europe. Europe is a continent not one country and as such we all have different road laws. In the UK and most European countries it is 50KMH or 30 MPH
A missed quirk! The back lights are in a form of 3 vertical lines that mimic cuts made by an attacking lion's claws :) The lion from the logo. Seriously I love the interior design of Peugoet, but the exterior is usually a miss for me, only a handful of their cars are attractive to me. Shame
Peugeot bought Opel and they are merging with Fiat. So, pretty soon you will be able to buy a Peugeot in the US and Canada. It will just have a Jeep or Chrysler or Ram badge on it.....🤯
Can't wait! The PSA group (Peugeot/Citroen/Opel) is on fire right now. PSA cars also have a good track record with reliability. But I doubt you'll ever see Peugeots in the US. They're too quirky in a stylish and impractical way. The seating position, button layout and infotainment systems have always been Peugeot's weaknesses. Thankfully, Opel exists to fix all of these issues, at the expense of blander styling. So yeah, you'll have Dodges and Fiats but don't count on seeing Peugeots!
This car is very popular here in Brazil, its complete version with semi-autonomous driving and futuristic interior is the most sold. The problem with this car (if you care about money) is the aftermarket, the car price goes down quick and the maintenance is expensive.
But he does review a car charger that you CAN buy, I heard they're also coming out with a wireless version of said charger!!! Use code "DEMURO" for $10 off any wireless car charger!
The interior is surprisingly nice for it's class, and really clever/different in a good way. I'm honestly really impressed with this. I think it'd sell extremely well in the USA so I'm surprised it isn't sold here.
It is really good quality wise and it is practical, which is a common thing amongst all modern Peugeot /Citroen /Ds (PSA group). By first hand experience, my father was gonna buy a Nissan qashqai but it felt super "cheap", every time we closed one of the door the body felt light and resonated/vibrated a lot! The Peugeot 3008 on the other end felt super high quality, super practical and modern.... No surprises it is selling so well, PSA just become the second car manufacturer in Europe. Volkswagen group is still leading but tbh I noticed they are getting less frequent to encounter and feels like the same cars over and over and over again. Do you want to see even more high quality PSA cars interiors? Take a look at DS line up, specifically DS 4 and 5.
For some people who laughs at French cars (some history): Citroen invented and started to mass produce the front wheel drive steering wheel hub back in 50s. This cleared the path to mass produce front wheel drive vehicles where clutch, transmission and differential are in the same box (almost all cars in the last 40 years). Citroen introduces the hydro pneumatic suspension (60s) - even Rolls Royce had to buy patent licenses from them. Peugeot 404 was the preferred desert car in the Middle East back in 80s - solid build sedan rival to the Mercedes 200E. Citroen Xsara WRC edition and Sebastien Loeb DOMINATED WRC rally series for years in 2000s. Peugeot 205 GTi T16 was banned in WRC in early 80s because it was too dangerous - Peugeot squeezed over 400HP out of turbocharged 1.9 litre engine (1982-1985) - compare this to the dredging power of the almost 8 litre (almost tank engine) Dodge Viper in late 90s.
A $25,000 crossover with the same tech as some $100,000 luxury cars. What crossover- or vehicle for that matter- has massaging seats & fragrances for $25k
Most cars outside of the US get massaging seats now lmao. We don't get shit Chevrolet's or Infinity's or Dodge or GMC over here because they can't compete with European cars.
You missed: 1-Car of the year in Europe 2017 2-The middle armrest has a cooler 3-Qi charger in the center console 4-Optional button for child door lock 5-Optional panoramic sun roof 6-Optional boot opening with foot 7-Lane change detector 8-Optional foldable e-scooter 9-Optional Focal audio system 10-360 impact sensors 11-Auto-parking 12-Carplay + Android Auto And many more!
You just say "reno" french is a language that uses a lot of silent letters. In that case in Renault, a and u make the sound o, and the l and t are silent.
420sx In french the vocals have special sound when join with others(not every combination), so "eu" sounds like and extended "u" and "eo" like an extended "o". Then there's a weird rule where you don't pronaunce the last letter (I don't remember well the exceptions to this) so that's why you don't hear the "t" at the end, so the "correct" pronunciation is indeed "Poo-yo".
French car look dope doesn't they? Do you Know the Citroen DS7? its even cooler and goes up to 300hp while having one of the best craziest interior of the whole industry
it does look dope, ive been in the car inside the peugeot showroom and man, it feels really neat and good just to sit there. And at that price , it is a bargain. Check out Carwow review of this car. it gets a good review ^-^
Indeed. Most german cars interior are PERFECTLY made but rather boring and dark. Japanese interiors are sometime a bit cheap looking. I think Swedish volvo last interiors and French Peugeot and Citroën are really interesting. OK... I skip all luxury cars like 60000 dollars plus cars here like top notch British.
@@guillaumefigarella1704 when traveling to Europe last week I was very impressed with the new Peugeot 508 which I got to take a ride in. Frankly there's nothing TOO special about that car, its just another misize sedan, it's practical, but it looks sooooooo fucking cool, has a REALLY nice interior for the price, it's definitely on the upper end of the spectrum when it comes to quality and refinement in the segment. If there was a more powerful engine option I could see it doing pretty well in North America, where I'm from.
Generally, the "Limit" mode of cruise control does that sign recognition as an option. Otherwise, it's a pretty standard mode in European cars, which allows you to set a speed limit, which the car won't exceed (unless you press the glass pedal all the way to the floor - that's when it gets deactivated).
I was pretty blown away of how cool the gaugecluster was.. the design was really cool and the animations were just.. fluent. I like it :D never thought that from a french car
It looks cool but a French car with so many electronic gadgets in it will probably be a nightmare a few years down the road. Well, I say a few years, it could well be a nightmare after a few months.
Fun fact: before Peugeot made cars they were in the industrial metal making factory and they made salt and pepper shakers, coffee grinders, umbrella frames etc.
When Peugeot staff saw how Columbo uses his 403 cabriolet they left USA. "These guys don't deserve it" 😊 Most of time I see your exotic cars reviews, for the first time you review a car I see everyday, something going wrong with this channel. Don't understand why we, French people, look so exotic.
@@MHCSS1 Yes Peugeot brand is becoming more and more premium. I would consider it mid-premium though (like volkswagen), not premium as Audi for example, but who knows in the next years maybe ?
That interior is WAY upscale for that segment. Wouldn't mind seeing those available in the States even though I'm sure it would sell for more money here.
There are few cars that don't have a better interior than a Chevy or non-Platinum Ford, though. I've been in Mitsubishis and Suzukis that I'd prefer to sit in over GM or Ford products that cost $10k more. Chevy interiors look nice in GM brochures and ads from the right angles, but the stitching is fake and the plastic hard just about everywhere but the steering wheel, and at 30k miles it will look as used as most cars do at 100k. The saying "a GM runs like crap longer than most cars run at all" still holds true: you'll lose your interior, exterior trim/cladding, and the bottom of your rear quarter panels before the powertrain warranty's even over, but that powertrain, assuming you picked a well-tested, high-displacement, ridiculously understressed one, will keep making its awful banging, crunching, and grinding sounds for at least as long as any other car will run smoothly. A fairer comparison would be the Toyota Highlander, Honda CRV, or (believe it or not) Jeep Cherokee/Dodge Durango. The 3008 is definitely the best among all of those too, though. It can't compete with VW or Mazda, but it's also cheaper than those, especially when you start adding options, so I wouldn't count that against it. The thing about Toyota is their interiors look the best, but feel disgusting in all of the wrong places. The wood grain trim on the Avalon, the flimsy center console or the interior door handle housing on the RAV4. A trip to the dealer was enough to cross every modern Toyota off my list, they're just not priced cheap enough to get away with that anymore. Nissan's the opposite, they look like crap, but all of that leather-textured plastic and shiny vinyl-looking leather is soft, nice, and not even slightly greasy when you touch it. Even the plastic on the inside of my trunk feels as soft as the dashboard in a Mercedes E-Class, but again, it doesn't look close to as nice as it feels. The hard plastic on the center console has no give or squeaking, and stays cool to the touch, but as nice as it is, it will never be mistaken for real metal. I think Peugeot is somewhere between those two as far as presentation goes: like all French brands, they focus more on high fashion and making the cohesive whole of the design look expensive, rather than making all the individual materials look and feel expensive. The 3008 does feel entry-level-premium like Honda or some high-trim Nissan models (Murano, Maxima, Armada, Quest), but with a much slicker, more stylish look.
Duh, Chevrolet's aren't even sold outside the US because their quality just isn't good enough to sell in other markets. Chevrolet's would never ever sell in Europe, they're way too cheap and plastic, they'd be at the bottom of the barrel for cars.
"D-O-U-G" - most Americans say "Dug", the Japanese say "Doge", Pikeys say "Dag", while I prefer to say "Douche". There's a LOT of different ways to pronounce it, all of them wrong!
I was surprised at the level of equipment and quality of the interior when I test drove a 3008. As I'm from the UK it's uncommon for Peugeots of old to be so well made. Naturally there's a bigger price tag for this car which may put people off spending that kind of money on a Peugeot, but it seems well made and sets itself apart or stands out quite a little against other compact suv in it's class. I've never really desired a Peugeot before the 3008 came along. I am tempted.

I'd love to see "Pur-zhoe" come back to the US market. My first car was a '79 604 and I'm a lot older than Doug so I beat him to the "quirk punch" many years ago. For laughs, we used to call them "Peequats."
I just saw an article about this car in france ,they said the factory couldn't keep up with the great sales ,so this car is seeing good days in europe.
True, my father ordered one last year and due to high demand the delivery took some more months than eximated. The reality is that it is priced better than other crossovers, it has nothing less than other crossovers but it has way better interiors and quality of life quirks than all other crossovers put together.
In Finland generally new cars are semi rare, and peugeots aren't that popular new either but these have been popping up like pimples on a teenagers face recently. Great car.

Its a mid level luxury suv, not fair comparison to the Jeep.

@@maurice2014 yes its not fair comparison, because here in Europe Peugeots cost less than Jeeps

You'll be surprised ... In europe, a cadillac wouldn't sell because of their low quality interior ( compared to european standards )

French cars never succeed to sell in USA, Renault try in the 80s but fails
Just ask people what they prefer. A 1.6L turbo or a 3.0+ na engine in their SUV
For some people who laughs at French cars (some history):
Citroen invented and started to mass produce the front wheel drive steering wheel hub back in 50s.
And Peugeot, "Car Of The Year In Europe", "Engine of the year .." with 3 cylinders :)
Citroen had make the rotor engine, rebought by Mazda and the wheel " >> ", impossible to "disaxe" (?) in transmission

Peugeot 3008 has a much better interior quality than a Chevrolet Equinox.
CMAUCHI chevrolet is garbage.
A lot of the French cars have nicer interiors than almost every American car.
My dog's travel kennel has a better interior than a Chevy Equinox
Duh, Chevrolet's aren't even sold outside the US because their quality just isn't good enough to sell in other markets. Chevrolet's would never ever sell in Europe, they're way too cheap and plastic, they'd be at the bottom of the barrel for cars.

I was surprised at the level of equipment and quality of the interior when I test drove a 3008. As I'm from the UK it's uncommon for Peugeots of old to be so well made.
