I do like the angle of Zor-El and Alura being willing to sacrifice their new lease on life for Kara's sake (which nicely mirrors the Danvers being willing to let Kara go for the same reason). This is complicated, though, by the fact that later stories established that her Kryptonian parents weren't dead at all, but managed to make it to the "Survival Zone" before Argo was destroyed (The Survival Zone is sort of like the Phantom Zone, but with fewer serial killers). So does that mean Mxy actually scooped them out of the Survival Zone and, I dunno, gave them amnesia to make them think they'd been dead? That's dark, even for Mxy. Or did he just conjure up a couple of fakes out of thin air, but he did such a good job duplicating them that the fake versions were just as noble and self-sacrificing as the real ones would've been? *Choke!* It's all so confusing...
In his first post-Crisis appearance (Superman, Volume II, Issue 11, Page 15, Cover Date: November 1987), he says it's "Mix-yez-pittle-ick!!!" That's my canon, and I'm sticking to it.
Mxy has gone through many appearances in the comic, so it's fine that they changed the actor later in CW Supergirl. His hair tends to be the most part, being long, short, crazy, or stylish. His costume is the norm, but has worn a suit and even been changed to that is the Superman animated series. As long a they keep the core of Mxyzptlk, he can look like anything really.

I remember that episode. Had no idea it was based off of a silver age comic. They really didn't care that Kara was underage did they? Well guess they still don't care since she's been in some fan service areas even today. And she was underage there too.
Glad you noticed the emotional manipulation was over the top even for Mxy. It was shocking, the introduction of two deceased parents some years after their death in order to induce unwanted marriage. I only discovered this story a couple weeks ago. It reminded me of the Alan Moore story, "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?" because that was an even more extreme Mxy over the top. The Silver Age Mxy was so goofy and zany his evil side was rarely apparent. He could also be good. A couple of times in Silver Age everything was lost but the day is saved at the end by his magical "soft" spot.
With how mxy said he couldn't make Supergirl fall in love with him and how he also couldn't stop her from taking her own life plus the actor was making mxy act it put me in mind of jeni from Disney's Aladdin both the animated movie and cartoon.
That is a wild comic and adaptation to the Supergirl TV series. These videos are like a rollercoaster ride of ideas and emotions. Thank you so much for the video, it was really good.
This comic has more chokes than a certain Cleveland football team. As for the story, I like the way they switched it up for TV- reminds me of how the introduced Jay Garrick in The Flash TV series (the homage to the Flash of two Worlds cover). Also, I don't think I've seen you do an analysis of a TV episode before- this should continue IMO.
When I read DC Comics as a kid, I never got the constant choking, I wasn't sure what they were going for there... I was also thrown off by Superman's constantly interrupting his own dialogue with "...uh..."; I still wonder if that was meant to emulate some famous actor or maybe this was just a Proto-Bendis attempt to capture how the writer thought real people talked!
"choke" is like an Inhaled Cough; and, is usually brought on by being surprised by something; and, is a reflex action Superman's "uh" occurs because he is being sidetracked; or, he is second-guessing himself; thus, he is experiencing pauses in his thought processes EDIT NOTE (DIDN'T KNOW THIS UNTIL THIS POSTING) * choke * = *choke* - choke - = -choke-
You should check out the issues of Adventures of Superman by Greg Rucka and Matthew Clark where Mr Mxyzptlk appears. The CW series borrowed heavily from them. The days NO woman nags her man...
"Season 2 and Season 5 are different beasts." LOL, so true.
5:59 Whoever wrote this comic had a choking fetish.
A Supergirl video for me? You shouldn't have.
Such love on Valentines Day.
Happy Valentines Day to you too.
I love that the Justice of the Peace apparently just doesn't have Questions...🤨
The best TV episode based on a comic was Justice League doing ‘What to get for the man who has everything’
I love this! Your laughter is infectious.
To quote Tarvek Sturmvoraus: "Seriously? The old 'bring her family back from the GRAVE' gambit? Have you no SHAME?"
With how mxy said he couldn't make Supergirl fall in love with him and how he also couldn't stop her from taking her own life plus the actor was making mxy act it put me in mind of jeni from Disney's Aladdin both the animated movie and cartoon.
Loki is always stalking Thor.
Like Loki, you have no chance with Thor.
Face it, Buddy. 🤔✌️
"I take it you doubt my love!" I don't think that's the problem, Myxxy.
Whenever it says *choke* in this comic, all I think of is the gurgling of that Imperial officer being force-choked by Lord Vader...
“do not take an open drink from clark” lmao
She drops a picture of Michael J Pollard as Mxy. And I love this bloody channel all the more for it!
I'm here for the character arc of Sasha.
That is a wild comic and adaptation to the Supergirl TV series.
These videos are like a rollercoaster ride of ideas and emotions.
Thank you so much for the video, it was really good.
This video brought me joy at work today, and sauce
He looked sort of like Howie Mandel in Lois and Clark.
Hey leave the Browns Alone that's a low blow
I thought they were the Baltimore Ravens now.
The Flash of Two Worlds made me squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I love your voice over for Myxy. Sounds similar to Dr. Smith on Lost In Space.
He's a demon, he's a devil, he's a doll - Betty Hutton
“mystery tube juice”
Love it.
Every time you hit the *choke* I wasn't ready 😂😂😂
OMG. The girl in choking in though baloons too.
Parents love triangle does that sometimes.
"choke" is like an Inhaled Cough; and, is usually brought on by being surprised by something; and, is a reflex action
Superman's "uh" occurs because he is being sidetracked; or, he is second-guessing himself; thus, he is experiencing pauses in his thought processes
EDIT NOTE (DIDN'T KNOW THIS UNTIL THIS POSTING)
* choke * = *choke*
- choke - = -choke-
I need the context for supergirl being the android 18 of Clark
You should check out the issues of Adventures of Superman by Greg Rucka and Matthew Clark where Mr Mxyzptlk appears. The CW series borrowed heavily from them. Specifically the parts 2 and 3 of Narrative Interuptus. Complete with Mxyzptlk wearing his version of Superman’s outfit with his version of the M shield. I may be bias as I drew the issues and noticed the parallels
The fact that you posted this the same day i was thinking of getting a Supergirl silver age omnibus… life is strange
"Do not take an open drink from Clark" 😂
"Yell at me mommy" 😂😂😂
The mxy from season five was way more likable and endearing hot take
I liked him he was fun and I loved when he showed up
Sasha: I am glad YOU can pronounce Mr. [5th Dimension Dude's] name. Just THINKING IT makes my brain hurt...😊
She's right, I am intrigued
When I got the Greatest Superman Stories collection. I notice the use of too. Seemed to be a thing in Silver Age Superman.
Wow, that episode of supergirl was based on a Superman comic book story; that’s mind blowing🤯😳.
I'm so distracted by Zor-El dressing all weird kryptonian & Alura looking like she'd fit right in as a random human.
"mystery tube juice"... that hit me in such a way that I actually snorted
Sasha’s laughter is so adorable
May have been mentioned, but Mixmasterpitluk was updated in the Smallville series in a similar fashion.
it's the realest of stories, i agree...
I came here to hear you try and do the Mxy voice of Gilbert Gottfried from the Superman the Animated Series. I have never felt such betrayal and disappointment.
With all the DC and Star Trek crossovers wired we've never had a Q vs. Mr Myxapicklick!
When it comes to episode adaptations of comic stories, nothing beats the iconic "For The Man Who Has Everything." But it's interesting how storylines and elements from other media go back into the main universes. Best example of that I can think of is... Gordon being there the night Bruce's parents were murdered?
*Sasha: **_"They have a cream for that tingling."_*
{also}
*_"Yell at me, mommy."_*
🤭🤭🤭
Zor El was mixing up some of that mad Kryptonian molly. Zor is down to clown.
