    I've always enjoyed these old classics, but with each passing year this song hits deep. We need more music and singers like him today.

    This song was written for Frank Sinatra. It was for a man who was nearing the end of his life. A reflection of who he was. May, I say one of the best ever.

    I have always loved Frank Sinatra. This song expresses so many emotions at once, taking you on a journey, which is what the best art can do. The word that I would use to describe what I feel when I listen to it is, "bittersweet." A feeling of mixed emotions, both a happiness and sadness all at once. The story of a life lived in strength even when it was not easy. That is the most important thing as we go through this life. Your reactions were wonderful, and it is heart-warming to see someone experience this for the first time and understand it so well. Especially someone from another country, and who is so much younger than most of the audience for this style of music. I greatly enjoyed hearing this again, and your beautiful reaction to it. Thank you for sharing this.

    Now that I'm 70, this song resonates differently from when I was a youngster. It's a song that makes you examine your life and wonder whether you've lived it to the fullest.

    His prime was in the 40s, 50s and 60s, Irina, but his career spanned much longer. In his latter years, he was known as the "Chairman of the Board." He was the man for my Dad's generation. He starred in movies, shows and song and was part of the Rat Pack with Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. He was truely an icon in the purest meaning of the word, someone you can never forget. Rest in peace, Frank, you truely paved the way for so many and I will never forget my Dad listening to him as I do every Chrismas. Great pick, Irina.👍

    His daughter, Nancy, once said one of the qualities that made her father's music so special was his enunciation of every word, unlike so much of what came before and after.

    • @MikeAnn193
      @MikeAnn193 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Interesting. I never heard her say that, but that's something Irina also mentioned. I'm not sure I'd have given it much thought, otherwise, but it does seem true. Then again, I don't think it's just his enunciation that makes the lyrics clear; I think it's also the fact that he's not drowned out by the instruments or other vocals. _That's_ what I see in a lot of music that came after, including much of the music I love, admittedly. I happen to be a fan of slick production and lots of layers, such as can be found with Rush, ELO, The Cars, The Eagles, Gerry Rafferty, and many more.

    Irina, honey, your English is _fine._ Don't worry about tripping over your tongue once in a while. We all do it. That includes everyone whose first and only language is English. Hell, I think you speak _better_ than a lot of the English-only people I've known.
    As for Sinatra, I'm sure you know by now that he goes back much further than you guessed. I'm a lot older than you, and he's even before _my_ time. But I have a funny memory from my dad. He once told me he was tired of hearing Frank Sinatra. He agreed he was a good singer, I think, but he felt there were _many_ good singers from the 40s and 50s, and he thought Sinatra got too much attention. I can understand that, because I feel there are artists from every decade who get more lasting attention than they deserve -- or their _contemporaries,_ the other artists from the same period, don't get _enough_ attention.
    One last thing: thank you for having an open mind and listening to music that was before your time. I can't call myself a Sinatra fan. Frankly, I find him kind of boring. But I really enjoyed your sweet reaction. And you're absolutely right: much of today's popular music is mixed so that you can't hear what the singer is saying. The recording business (and music business) have changed a LOT over the decades, some for the better, and some not.
    As always, watching your channel puts a smile on my face, and makes me want to hug you. 🥰

    The guy was a jerk… but he was the definition of “cool” and that voice will be distinctly his own… forever!
    (This is NOT his best… the voice has been rumpled with age… but unmistakably “Sinatra”)
    He and Bing define Christmas.
    But Frank is the sentimental loss of love and life’s disappointments but - persevere - with a song in one’s heart!
    The only regret I (and Sinatra fans) have is that he should have been cast as “Sky Masterson” in “Guys and Dolls” 😥 that would have been his signature role!

You have little confidence so you insult&talk down to others to make yourself feel better about yourself. It's sadistic game you play with yourself, but the joy you get from hurting others is a fake feel of confidence. Hence, you're not a real man. You're a wimp. To change you 1st need to call yourself out. Tnen you need to decide to care about other people and to care about their feelings.
