Nice job. I will be doing something similar. I will probably be mounting mine on the house wall - at least 5' off the ground. This will make servicing a little easier and keep the snow away. I'm in NJ so I have similar conditions to you.

Yes, we can get 12-18 inches (30-45cm) of snow most winters (although much less the last couple years...)
