    The sealant is probably for what is called the vapor barrier. If they are actually using the vapor barrier. They seal around outlets and light sockets too.

    If, like me the cavities around your tap fittings are choc full of that silicon gum, then you'll find that a 20 minute job turns into a three hour job

    • @Marksreviewsandtutorials
      @Marksreviewsandtutorials  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Turns out the silicon is a vapor barrier. There to stop any water getting into the walls. Also there when you have a higher rating insulation to stop drafts or air leaking

    • @Marksreviewsandtutorials
      @Marksreviewsandtutorials  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would need more information to help you. Is the tap leaking from the shaft of the tap? Or dripping from the faucet? Did you change both washers? ie did you change the wrong one? The washer seats against the metal at the back of the tap you would need to check if that is still Flat or if there is debris in there. Did the oring move out of place as you fitted it??

    Hi, Mark. Do I need to reapply silicon after changing the washer?

    • @Marksreviewsandtutorials
      @Marksreviewsandtutorials  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes that is a vapor barrier. Modern houses are sealed so they are better insulated. Not gaps through the wall everywhere.

  • @defrost019
    @defrost019 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I need to only change something in my hot water kitchen tap and I have shut of supply to the water heater and so no water is coming out from hot taps. Can I proceed to unscrew the hot water tap in my kitchen? Or do I need to completely shut off the main water?

    • @Marksreviewsandtutorials
      @Marksreviewsandtutorials  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This depends on your tap and other plumbing in your home.
      To test all you need to do is turn on the hot water tap and see if any water comes out.
      But being that you don’t want hot water having the possibility to come out under pressure why not turn off at the main to be safe. MRT

      Two thoughts if it is a mixer tap change the other tap as well.
      If not then the tap may need to be reseated. You can get kits at the hardware store. Check where the washer seats inside the Tap. This needs to be smooth.
