i relate so much with you distancing yourself from the language after being bullied for your accent. i always noticed how my dad was sometimes not taken seriously/ridiculed for his strong afrikaans accent and forced myself to unlearn the habit and speak with a more “proper” accent at a young age. it’s only now that i’m older that i’ve started to embrace my home language again😌 thanks for the great video though💖
I actually searched for "Afrikaans ASMR" and believe me I don't regret it,funny I sometimes tune to RSG FM just to listen to the news read in Afrikaans.I find the language itself very tingly especially when spoken by proper Afrikaners. Thank you for this fabulous video!😊🙏
wow! i had no idea Afrikaans is so close to Dutch! All of those are the exact same translation in Dutch, except for coconut. That means “kokosnoot” instead of “klapper” :D
Yea Afrikaans, Dutch and Flemish people can basically have a conversation in their different languages and understand each other😆❤️ I think it’s so cool !
Kokosnoot is kokosneut in Afrikaans, the white inside bit we call klapper. Afrikaans shares about 95% of Dutch vocab, we just shorten most words and drop endings. Making it easier than Dutch.
i worked a summer job for a really short time and my manager there spoke afrikaans as her first language. she slipped into it often and i loved how it sounded so much! so glad i found a place where i can hear it again :)
Awww... I'm screaming inside! I love the way Afrikaans sounds very, very much! But I had never watched ASMR in Afrikaans before. Also, your video is really aesthetically pleasing. I love the earring, the sparkly make-up, the colours of your nails, the plants, the lights, the background... Basically everything! Sooo cool! Thanks! Sending love from Bulgaria! 🇧🇬♥️🇿🇦
I'd love to see a video in Afrikaans 🤤🤤 I miss primary & high school, doing speeches in Afrikaans and laughing at each other for pronouncing some words wrong but also hyping each other once we got it right🙌😂
As someone who was raised with both Dutch and Bahasa Indonesia this made me giggle way more than it should, but it’s just so fun to hear a language so similar yet different. “Klapper” for instance means exactly the same in Bahasa Indonesia, hence why we have “klappertaart” or literally coconut cake. There was a bit more similar stuff I heard, but that was the first thing that came to mind because my family is actually from Manado where klappertaart originated from
wow, we also have klappertaart in South Africa. Wonder if they have that in the Netherlands too. Maybe klappertaart came from Indonesia to South Africa?
Amazing video! I'm recently interested in knowing more about Afrikaans, and the trigger words are magical! Also don't give up a language because you have some bad experiences, knowing a language is very useful and fun :)
i am american but my mama is an afrikaaner. i can speak basic afrikaans but i am not entirely fluent. its nice to see someone else that even knows what the language is!
your channel is my new fav. i watched one of ur videos yesterday while doing my homework and then decided to take a nap, and let me tell you... it was the best nap i've had in a long time. ur channel is incredible!! also a question, do u know where the plants (unless they're real- i cant really tell lol) and fairylights in ur background are from? theyre sooo aesthetically pleasing!
Afrikaans people are mostly descended from the Netherlands as well as Germany , France , Portugal , Sweden and many other countries and Afrikaans is about 90%-95% Dutch
I am dutch and i recognise the written words, yet our pronounciation is sooo different. I wonder if i would understand if someone would speak afrikaans sentences slowly
Hi i am a first language Afrikaans speaker and I would say I find it very easy to speak with Dutch people especially if they are from Holland or live In the north near Friesland
@@anka004 Hey, it's okay, so I'm from Lower Saxony, I'm in northern Germany, I don't know if you've ever heard of the North Sea, but that's where I come from. Cool that you want to come here soon, but in Corona right now everything here is very critical😅 So I can't really tell you a lot about it, if necessary, you can google ? ✌🏻
I'm half Chinese and grew up speaking English so when I went to Chinese school for the first time I was teased and bullied for my accent too :/ even now at 16 I'm still insecure about it but I'm trying not to worry, after all it's heritage and I'm still in Chinese school so I have to suck it up xD anyway I relate a lot to that part. And I never knew Afrikaans was such a relaxing language wooo
I understand that you got bullied for your accent but in my opinion I don’t think you should have stopped speaking your language just because other people made fun of you but I know your here just a kid and I understand that!! Everyone should be proud of the language they speak! You should make more Afrikaans videos I personally grew up in a Afrikaans home and still speak it!!
This is amazing! I’ve never heard Afrikaans before. I’d love to see more videos of you speaking Afrikaans.
Gloo vi my jy sal dit geniet 😁😁
Hoekom?
It's such an easy language to leanr:D it's my first language

Same! Except I am Filipino and my heavy native accent apparently sounded “cheap”,,, honestly I hate such crab mentality 😔

wow! i had no idea Afrikaans is so close to Dutch! All of those are the exact same translation in Dutch, except for coconut. That means “kokosnoot” instead of “klapper” :D
Yeah Afrikaans actually is the diluted version of Dutch
Yea Afrikaans, Dutch and Flemish people can basically have a conversation in their different languages and understand each other😆❤️ I think it’s so cool !
Yes...the fruit is called kokosneut when its whole...and the white inside is called klapper...
