That truly is the best Land Rover conversion I've ever seen. So utterly complete and well thought through. You could make a decent living building explorer conversions for people with more money than skillz.
Thanks very much 👍👍
It's amazing how you have fitted everything in, without making it look cramped. I'm looking forward to the Morocco adventure. Great video guys.
Thanks very much mate 👍
Saturday morning again, J+J on the Computer and a nice Cup of Coffee.
Nice way to start the weekend, seeya next week guys 😘
Thanks Mike 💙
The design and build is pure genius.
Thanks very much that’s ever nice of you to say💙
You make practical and beautifully finished expedition vehicles.
Great videos as well.
That’s a lovely compliment thank you 💙
Wow I mean just wow John your a bleeding National treasure that land rover is I don't even have words to describe it .mate your seriously talented really I really can see people watching this episode and saying we got to get this guy working for us I mean if this is not British ingenuity at its best then I don't know what is you really blown me away seriously the build quality is second to none talk about thinking outside the box. I mean every word you're so talented the both of you don't be surprised if people are telling you that this build is the best they ever seen and I see a lot it's my job anyway much love respect and I'll 💯catch up with you guys next week 👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👍👍
That’s such a lovely compliment thanks very much mate. Means a lot 👍
You know…you guys may have the nicest bunch of viewers on YT. Seriously! When reading the comments on your channel I start feeling a bit more positive about the world. And as always I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching.
TL:DR…and this comment read my mind - Jon, your mechanical expertise reminds me of my Dad. He could pretty much transfer his skills into multiple things and solved problems creatively too. He built a whole mini from stuff he got from multiple scrap yards…he was trained as a motorcycle mechanic but basically taught himself everything from plumbing to building. (And that was in the days before t’internet of course, because I’m getting old.) Mum would have practical ideas about how to solve a problem and Dad would make them a reality.
You guys are both hugely talented and seem to complement each other well, and I’m sure the future’s going to be full of rewarding adventures. Hopefully you’ll continue taking us all along with you ⭐️
I love it, I was searching for a defender built which includes everything and finally, I found the content what I wanted. Thanks for the video and information. I'm looking forward to your adventure guys!
Thanks very much 👍
Oh what a brilliant transformation! Especially loved the sunshade and the pop up roof. You won't need your Arctic gear in Morocco, hopefully!. But the nights might be chilly so cosy duvet! Stay safe and we can't wait to join you on another adventure. 🎉❤
😂😂 Thanks Fiona, yep I’ve heard the nights can get a bit chilly so will definitely be taking a few warm clothes 😁💙
Drool I’m drooling over this landrover overlander, yes I’ve watched the build but it’s been a while.
It’s a dream build for many, brilliant just brilliant.
Thanks very much mate, hopefully it will do us proud 👍
I have a little adventure story for you.Long ago when I was 23 years old and in the army in South Africa.I was driving along a gravel road in a long wheelbase Land Rover which was completely open. All we had was the windscreen no canopy .This was in Northern Angola during the Civil War.Anyway here I am driving along with two other mates (And we had already driven miles and miles that day) When suddenly the left rear wheel and half shaft came off the vehicle and flew into the bush.So we are stuck as other traffic along that road was maybe one vehicle every four or five hours. But there's a small army base not far away but it was about one to one and a half hours drive.(You couldn't just walk back to it) So now we sat the three of us in the middle of Fuck All with my rifle and two 9mm pistols.(But I had plenty of ammo for my rifle if needed) Anyway after about three hours a truck came along and said he would call at the small army base and tell them to send a recovery truck. So a while later the recovery truck arrived and took us all back to the small base. They had a mechanic who repaired our Land Rover and the next morning we were on our way. Hope you like my little adventure. But the moral of the story is as much as you can "Be Prepared".
We love hearing stories like this as we try and picture them in our heads. One of those stories that’s shit at the time but an amazing adventure to look back on. Glad you made it out ok 👍
Saturday morning relaxing on the couch with a cup of coffee and watching true blue travellers, Today is going to be a good day.
What a fantastic comment...I'm doing exactly the same. David Gilmour
😂😂 thanks I hope you have a lovely rest of the weekend 💙
That’s an awesome conversion. Can’t wait for the adventure to begin.
Thanks mate 👍
Wow I thought the sainsburys van was well made… this is incredible. Everything fits so well and the space you’ve made here and there is fantastic , for a small vehicle you’ve made it work extremely well guys , both of your skills put together always equals a quality build 🙌
Thanks very much mate that’s much appreciated 👍👍
love the build. only thing I'd change is the location of the safe to somewhere more discreet
Thanks 👍
I'd get that out of the country asap before the defence secretary views this video and requisition it for the UK army by claiming he's just reinvented 'The Tank' 😎🤣
😂😂😂😂 the beast from the east 👌👌😂👍
@truebluetravellers That's Jon isn't it ? 😂
@@red9zero 😂😂😂
That thing is like a TARDIS, love it
Thanks 😊
Brilliant video again. I've watched them all, binge watching to catch up. My only regret watching them is that they make me wish that my wife and I could live the early years of our lives again. We wanted to travel but didn't take the plunge.
Carry on as you are, you are a wonderful couple and so good for each other. I look forward to watching your Morocco trip. Good luck and safe journey.
Thanks very much guys, me and Jess were talking about this sort of thing the other day, if you could go back to an age and relive life what would it be, it’s a funny old thing hey
3:25 Was literally saying to myself "Cor that'll be a tight squeeze trying to get both of you sleeping in there.
Alucab was a great idea!
😂😂 thanks mate 👍
The sainsburys van was very impressive and I liked that a lot, but as a lover of ‘all things Landrover,’ I absolutely love the creativity and compactness of this within a cool British icon! Looking forward to your next trip! Need to convince the wife we NEED one of these in our lives now the kids are all adults and we can go away on our own😂
Thanks mate, let’s be honest, the Sainsbury’s van does the job but she’s not sexy like the Landy. I think you NEED one too 😂😂
I shall tell her you guys approve and you know what your talking about 😂
As I said about the Sainsbury’s van, the planning, thought and execution of this conversion really is second to none. Nothing flashy, every square inch has a reason to be there, absolutely brilliant. Can’t wait for next week!
That’s such a lovely compliment thanks very much 💙
The Picos in Spain are calling for that Defender. John can even wear his shorts.
😂😂😂😂 I’m hoping so 🤞👍
You make practical and beautifully finished expedition vehicles.)))
Thanks 😁👍
What an awesome rig 😊 my favourite part has to be the custom canvas storage on the rear door, seriously good job on that, practical and elegant 😊
Thanks very much nick im dead proud of that one ☺️
Good morning you beautiful true blue travellers. You blow my mind with your ability to create useful space in confined areas. Thats 1 amazing machine and you need to patent your ideas! Looking forward to your Morocco adventures. Stay safe and stay happy. Xx
Thanks very much Peter, lovely of you to say 💙
Overlanding American here. Great build. Seriously, you guys get high marks for what you have accomplished. My wife was quick to suggest you consider making a Velcro-ed front cover that will seal in the utensils pockets on the back door. As you drive down dirt roads or over sandy areas, the amount of grit that finds its way into your cabinet is remarkable. We have found covering stuff that is exposed makes a huge difference. Can’t wait to see how your shake out trip to Spain and Morocco goes. Please provide details on the amount of back pain a Defender can produce after a long-haul trip. (We’re Jeep people, so we had to get at least one Defender dig in, right?). Best of luck. We’re very much enjoying your channel - and, yes, we have “liked” and “subscribed .”
😂😂😂 thanks guys, much appreciated, when we got out the sprinter into the defender it was a bit of a shock again 😂 so will take a bit of getting used to, thanks for the tips 😁👍
The Landy is like a Tardis you have certainly put a lot of thought into the design. Let's hope Postman Pat delivers the new mattress see you both next week
😂😂 🤞 thanks very much mate looking forward to putting her to the test!
Just binge watched the artic adventures, it was brilliant. Look forward to watching the Morocco travels.
Thanks mate 👍👍
The landy looks amazing and very well engineered, you guys have made a special camper there❤
Thanks very much Lee 😁💙
back in 81 i was on tour, no not whit a
general, it was a capt.n whit a helm on his head
yelling at my to slow down going downhill
the green camouflage colored whit almost no brakes military landrover
hopefully you gonna have also a wonderful ride, it sounds like big fun playing in the sand
:-)
😂😂😂 👍 yep hopefully should be a blast
Finally, i've been waiting for this tour for a minute
Thanks 👍
What a great vehicle.
It amazes me how you manage to fit so much into the defender.
Keep up the great videos. Enjoy your adventures ❤
Cheers mate, hopefully it all works how we hoped 👍👍💙
“Plonker Pants”, hilarious 🤣. What a brilliant phrase! That’s a T-Shirt/Mug design when you start your merch store. Thanks for the video. Cheers, Colin.
😂😂 think it’s a pretty accurate description of him really 😂
@@truebluetravellers I forgot to ask! Have you got a link for those quick release gas fittings? Just what I’m after for my gas hob, thanks. 👍
Yep no worries I’ll drop the link below

@@truebluetravellers Brilliant, thanks muchly. 👌
Got to say, totally blown away by the build. Not at all what I expected. Awesome. Looking forward to your travels 😀.
Thanks ☺️
All I want to know is, when is Jons; cookbook coming out we both love a pot noodle and burnt toast is a must in our household too. See you both next week xx
😂😂😂😂 I’m working on it, gonna be a sell out 👌👍😂
That is absolutely the coolest build I’ve ever seen
Thanks 😊
I'd highly recommend the Defender Build - it's as interesting, fun and clever as the Sainsbury's build
Thanks 😁
Hi from 🇫🇷 👋 I have to say that’s a badass build with a lot of great ideas that I have never seen on other Defender builds on YT. The final result looks so clean. Well done!! Can’t wait to follow your next adventure.
Thanks so much, really appreciate it. Can’t wait to test her out properly!!
Fascinating to watch.
That’s seriously impressive what you’ve both done with that Land Rover!👏
So looking forward to the Morocco trip.😎🇲🇦☀️
Thanks mate 👍
I saw the first tour and watched this one as well because I'm enthralled!!!!! I just love this build and can't wait to see your Moroccan adventures in it! You two have such vision and talent!!! ❤😊
Thanks very much ☺️
You 2 are wasted, such talent you have, an amazing Landrover Fit-Out also ❤
Morrocco awaits you, as do we with your Vlogs...can't wait 😃 xx
That’s so lovely Gill thank you, so lovely to hear you’re coming with us 💙
I'm one of the ones who found you on the Sainsbury's Van, but since watched the defender build. Super informative and defo taken a load of tips for our next build.
One thing I was gonna mention was something I found for our electrics and not sure if you've come across as I don't think they advertise very well. CTEK. I was looking for something to charge the Leisure battery from the Alternator and Solar and their D250se is just amazing. And even trickle charges your starter battery from solar too!
I’ve seen them ctek ones but not really looked into them, thanks I’ll have to check them out 👍👍
You two are truly talented , great conversion 🎉
Thanks very much 😊
Great build, looking forward to the Morocco series. I’m sure it will be as good as the arctic adventure. Still the best channel on TH-cam.
That’s so lovely of you to say ☺️
Looks great you 2. Hope the engineer' s HEAD & BRAIN are healing and he's given up doing donuts on the road All the best stay safe.
Thanks very much, yes he’s back to his annoying ‘normal’ self 😂 I’ll try and keep him in one piece
Thank you doing your videos i really look forward to a Saturday to watch them, i was very upset when John hurt himself the other week i could not stop thinking about him and was in tears (yes i'm a grow male adult) , hope you have fun and keep us updated, and get some merch out soon please , thank you for keeping us entertained and look after yourself's, love to both of you, Dunc x.
Oh Dunc you are so sweet! Sorry to have worried you but he’s fine I promise. Really appreciate your support 😘
Arrgg just catching up after having a horrendous time! This conversion is amazingly well thought out, and OF COURSE well executed 👏👏 I seriously need you guys to change some aspects in my van 😍
Oh no that doesn’t sound good, hopefully your all sorted now 👍
@@truebluetravellers thanks, the biggest problem apart from injury, won't now be sorted until possibly Nov or beyond 😳 But means I'm still able to drive this year at least - earning to others NEVER use Esure!!!!
You guys are so professional with everything that you do. Your defender looks brilliant with all the mod-cons. John your engineering is first class. Can't wait for the adventures to begin 👏👏👏👏
Thanks very much Susan, so lovely of you to say 💙
Good morning to Jess as well.
☺️
Can’t wait to see Morocco!!!!! Everything you have done is incredible. What a wagon!!!!! 😊
Thanks so much 💙💙 we are dead excited ☀️☀️☀️☀️
Awesome build folks. Happy Trails
Thanks mate 👍
Awesome design and fitting on this Land Rover, I love that the bed lifts up for full height standing...genius. Look forward to your adventures in it.😀
Thanks so much, can’t take credit for the roof design, it’s made by Alu Cab, they are pricey but an amazing bit of engineering
The two of you are some sort of wizards ! 😁👍✌🍻
Thanks 😁😊
Nice tour and definitely worth anyone watching the full build especially fitting the roof box and addition of the extra struts and dampers 😃👍🏻🙌
Thanks mate much appreciated
Nice work on the Landrover, and good to see y'all back in sunshine and some trees. I honestly stopped watching the Arctic episodes as I couldn't take looking at all of that snow. Looking forward to your Morocco adventures! 😎👍
😂😂😂 it was a cold one hey 😁👍
Awesome. Guys, This has to be the best landi conversion i’ve ever seen !!
Thanks very much 👍
Love your Defender build Its so compact and has almost everything For me it's missing an indoor shower but love it anyway! Have a great week and see you Saturday Love and hugs Sharon ❤
😂😂 thanks Sharon, would be cool to squeeze a shower in somewhere hey 💙
Hi guys never realised beatiful the defender is can’t wait for Morocco you won’t be that far from me I am in Tenerife can’t wait for this next series keep smiling
Thanks mate, can’t wait to get going 👍
Wow! What a phenomenal vehicle! 🤩 Looking forward to your Morocco adventures! 🇬🇧🇲🇦❤️
Thanks so much, can’t wait to put her to proper use!!
Wow! The build quality is amazing!!
Thanks 👍
Looks great and nice to see you back in Norfolk.
Thanks mate, how could you tell, the wind the rain or the big open fields 😂👍
Haha I live in Suffolk
😊 Lovely vlog again. You two think if absolutely everything..." no space left empty" you make the most of every inch of space. Only sad thing..no out takes.....take care U2...Eileen
😂😂😂 thanks Eileen, we had to be on the ball with this one as the rain was coming in fast 😂
Well done! The only thing I would advise is to make a cover for your cutlery bag in the back. When (not if, but absolutely when!) you get dust inside the vehicle from sandy and dusty tracks, you don't want all of your cooking and eating implements covered in gritty sand. Just a cover with velcro would suffice. Cheers, y'all!
That’s a brilliant tip, thanks will make sure we do this 👍👍
That is really really nice but I would have been tempted to try to make an internal locking mechanism for the roof so if you arrive and it's chucking it down you could unlock it while inside and push it up. Brilliant design.
Yeah we saw a few other designs that had done that, plus it’s better security really as opening from the outside isn’t great for that
A proper Land Rover, looking forward to more of your travels
Thanks 👍
Great to see you both back and well, great video as usual, look forward to next week, have a great weekend
Thanks very much mate and same to you too 👍
You might need a 3 sided splash/ heat guard for the cooker to save singeing your Tarp
Cheers mate, yep it’s on the Jobs to do before we, otherwise we will definitely get spaghetti bolognaise every where 😂
that was an interesting tour round. Cant wait for your trip vids to start.
Thanks very much ☺️
You guys are so entertaining my wife hated my vanlife TH-cam watches. Then you came along and we have started your channel again cos we love you. Keep it up. And John, please stop cross dressing mate.
😂😂😂😂 thanks guys, unfortunately she’s banned me 🤷♂️
The Builds that due me is as a Subscriber. This does make me think of how different the base of the build would be if you choose a Ex Military 110 Defender with their side locker for jerry cans. As they would change a lot of where you have fitted extra tanks under the body. Guaranteed that it will have been ragged within an inch of it's life, unlike your own which has had a much gentler life going by the condition of her. I know all about ragging Land Rovers as that is what we always did with them, things got a bit better when the Army bought the TD5 Defenders as they were awesome once they had the lovely Rover five cylinder fitted. Shame that the turbo and water pumps where not squaddie proof. I did miss our section V8 as that just sounded the mutts, when giving it the beans.
Can't wait to see your next Epic Adventure.
I always think being in the army would of been so cool at times, being able to give these vehicle a right hammering without the worry of the cost if it breaks 👌
@@truebluetravellers It was brilliant being able to rag things once out of sight. One of my most memorable times was Driver training, once you had completed the licence side of it you got to do things like Skid Pan. That was in Cars, Land Rovers and A Bedford TM 8 Tonner, which was the most fun due to how long it seemed to take the air breaks to release from locking up.
Hence how I know about the weakness of the TD5 Turbo and water pump bearing. I only had a year of playing with the TD5 Landy's before being back to the very dull Naturally aspirated 2.5 diesel lump that could pull the skin of a rice pudding going down hill. The Biggest problem with the TD5 based Landy was if you wanted to do the same conversion you'd have to get hold of the upper side panels and possibly the rear door if you got hold of the soft top version of what we called the Wolf, but got told off it we did, as it had another name that time has lost.
I take yours has the Ford 2.2 lump in it that they put in the Freelander 2. That was a good engine. I once got stuck behind a boy racer in his Honda Civic, slowing me down on a series of Bends. when we got to the lights all I could see was the drivers bobbing up and down trying to work out what was behind him, as there should have been no way a Freeland should have been on his tail in the bends. You don't tend to see them being ragged on the road. I do miss that it at time. Not the overly sensitive Traction Control that would cut in when you really gave it the been to get out of a junction and it would kill the power. The limp mode was pretty good on them as you could then get along at a normal pace and up to national speed limits. Mine was totally standard apart from it being the front wheel drive version. as some idiot didn't check what the e mean. Still a bloody good laugh taking it off green lanes. Even pulled a Hi Lux out of a ditch with it, Clutch stank to hi heaven of course.
All the way through I’m thinking ‘Bloody hell, that Jon is an engineering genius… then we get to the cutlery and plate storage…😮😮😮
😂😂😂 thanks Denise, she did a good job on that one hey 👌👌👌
@@truebluetravellers Jess does a great job on everything she touches ❤
Naw Denise 😘 you’re always so lovely 💙💙
Amazing video as always, keep up the good work
Thanks 😊👍
That is the best setup I have ever seen so well thought out I love the tires not super extreme, super sized for looks but effective efficient easy to repair if needed. You both did a great job.
Thanks 😊👍
Golly! Pretty awesome, you do things so well!
Thanks very much ☺️
This is the best use of the space I've ever seen in a vehicle of this size!! Love it!!! I'm going to watch the whole build now!
That’s a lovely compliment thanks mate really appreciate it 💙
Love this build! You guys are awesome!
That’s really kind of you thanks very much 💙
Absolutely amazing guys, you have thought of everything, looking forward to the adventure.
Hopefully 😂 🤞we’ll soon find out all the things we’ve forgotten!! Thanks so much we’re really looking forward to it!

Wow! Fantastic conversion! You two are awesome 😎
Thanks 😁☺️
Wow, amazing stuff and looks brilliant.
Thanks ☺️
Wow ! Wow ! Omg ….. absolutely love it…… I’ll be replaying this a few times… so much to take in….
😂😂 thanks very much 💙
Hi Jon & Jess…..Wow absolutely amazing all you have done with the Defender, I so cannot wait for more of your videos! 😊
Thanks very much 😊
Love it, everything is thought of and every space is utilised to the fullest. that and she looks like an absolute beast!

Another brilliant episode. 🎉
Thanks mate 👍
I just have to say I absolutely love your rig.... absolutely brilliant.
It's amazing with a lot of skills what you can achieve in such a small space ..
I hope you have many wonderful trips out in it . Thankyou for uploading this video it has given quite a few ideas.
Thanks again and safe travels ..
So lovely to hear it’s helpful and thanks so much for the kind compliment 💙
Wow, this is a beautiful set up, very nice. Looking forward to more videos.
Thank you very much! 💙
Amazing build 😎. I’m completely impressed of all the details build in. 👍
Thanks very much 😊
Hi guys! It is wonderful! Congratulations!!
Thanks ☺️
A nice defender guys. One thing I noticed though is you have all the storage on the driver's side of the vehicle. And all the water equipment. Just be careful when tackling obstacles that make the body rock. But it is a nice set up you have. I'm not knocking it. 👌🏼👍🏼.
Thanks mate, yeah very good point 👌👍👍
Love the creativity on that Defender! 🥰
Thanks 😁👍
Looks amazing, lots of thoughtful ideas in this build, looking forward to seeing it on the road 😊
Thanks mate 👍
Wow what a cracking conversion that is.😍 You are both very talented at everything that you do, I'm looking forward to seeing you put this Beast through its paces 👍🫶
That’s a such a lovely thing to say, can’t wait to see how she does 💙
You have done an amazing job guys safe travels
Thanks mate 👍
