Hey guys. Coming along nicely. I have to say, I dont like those pocket screws. I dont rely on the fastener. I believe in wood glue. The fastener is only to hold it while the glue dries. I just pin with the air nailer. Proper strong joint.
@@truebluetravellers Rather than legs on the bed, some sort of fixed cleat or neat, folding bracket on the wall to support the corners and you should be good to go. Is the front edge of the frame tube or angle profile? Rectangle tube on edge is most rigid. Angle could kink with a concentrated load, like from a knee while you climb on.
Using the office chair to figure out the most ergonomic position of the benches was a nifty idea. Looks like you’ve got a decent layout, seems to be balanced and doesn’t appear to be cramped. Also in regards to the tools, it’s not hoarding if they’re organised.
Tool Tip Thursday ;-) The Build is coming along nicely. I even saw a ex Sainsbury Van yesterday when I was out with my Eldest on her Hack out, She made me walk along with her. well until they started to trot and this old fart can't keep up. It was being used as Hire Van. It has got me thinking again of building my own, but once the kids don't want to come camping with Mum and Dad. I do like the panel Saw as it takes up less room that a full size cabinet saw. I have to make do with a Track saw and a site saw. Those Kreg Jigs are brilliant. I have used mine a fair bit as if you plan how your using them you don't have to fill or plug the holes. That said I do also have there plug cutter, which I have even managed to cut plugs out of MDF, for when you can't hide the pocket hole. Another great tool for joining cabinets is the Domino. Trend is making the Domino Dowels now so it will not be long possibly before they release their own version as Festool's Patient must have run out, with them making slightly cheaper Domino Dowels. Looking forward to the next installment of Jon's Tools and Jess's Guns! Oh and the next stage of the build.

Nice video and very good work. For safety, all non factory conversions of vans with bulkheads should also consider how crashworthy the installed furniture is as debris and shrapnel may fly into the cab area in such a scenario.
You need to build yourself a wood working shed so you can build all day and keep out of that ever changing weather I have finally watched all your vlogs so far, anyone would think that you have been doing this for years, look forward to all tge upcoming builds and trips.

Oh by the way... have you ever looked at electronic magnetic closures to keep cupboard doors and drawers closed during transport. Nowadays they are also often used for new campers and boats. A switch ensures that they do not open during your journey, and that you can open them when you are standing still when the switch is turned off.😉😁
Congrats on the Festool Tracksaw. My wife was dubious about it as well, but I think it has been one of the best tool purchases I've made. Next up... the Festool Domino. :P

Your channel is just brilliant. Throughly enjoyed it and you’ve made my Saturday evening to see you’ve got a new upload. All the best to you both, I’m expecting your channel will blow up in the coming months and rightfully so. All the best, Ben
It's amazing! As nice as the wide open space of the interior looks - I think to myself- not possible. And, then miraculously you not only get all the creature comforts; bed, shower, kitchen - but, it actually looks bigger! And, all your crazy humor makes the build look effortless & fun! (probably, not). Looks great! even though waiting for final touches!
Pop rivet idea solution was great, so obvious now, but how many times have I riveted at an angle. The additions you add to your collection will always improve the quality of the work and reduce the time achieving the results you want. You don't purchase tools for tools sake.

You could put a door in between the seat and the kitchen so if it is cod out you do not need to go out side to get in garage.
We did think of that, still might do it 🤔
Nice video and very good work. For safety, all non factory conversions of vans with bulkheads should also consider how crashworthy the installed furniture is as debris and shrapnel may fly into the cab area in such a scenario.
Loving the progress you guys are making. You need to have your own show on tv. You should transfer your skills to narrow boats etc
Thanks Andrew, we are stoked with how it’s shaping up. A narrow boat could be fun!!
Lucky you. Got the billlty. And healthy life to do it not many have. Good luck 🇬🇧🙏
Thanks very much Arthur 👍
We’ve just found you guys. What’s the algorithm been doing??? You’re the perfect channel for us. Let the bingefest commence!
😂😂😂😂😂 thanks guys much appreciated 😁
Tool talk Tuesday I love spanners and wrenches
Oh yes 👌👌👌
Great build guys and it’s coming on so quick, loving the tool selection 😎
Cheers Nigel 👍
So much talent, another amazing conversion. You make it look so easy, I couldn't even change the wheels. 🤣
😂😂😂 cheers mate 👍
Cracking video.... Only just come across your channel, and am loving it. ❤️
Thanks very much, appreciate you giving us a go 💙
You need to build yourself a wood working shed so you can build all day and keep out of that ever changing weather
I have finally watched all your vlogs so far, anyone would think that you have been doing this for years, look forward to all tge upcoming builds and trips.
Thanks mate, I know that’s the one I’m missing somewhere undercover for the build but I’m not complaining at all as most haven’t got anything like 👍
Great episode again guys, informative and as funny as ever. Roll on the next one...
Thanks terry 👍😁
lets go :D another episode
💪 😁
Recent subscriber here. Loving your videos and banter. And amazing what you’ve achieved in a short space of time - both with the builds and with your channel. Keep up the good work! 😊
Thanks very much seamus, the weather has been quite good to us so it’s been nice to be able to crack on, tables are turning now tho, fast 😂😂😂
Oh by the way... have you ever looked at electronic magnetic closures to keep cupboard doors and drawers closed during transport. Nowadays they are also often used for new campers and boats. A switch ensures that they do not open during your journey, and that you can open them when you are standing still when the switch is turned off.😉😁
No I haven’t seen them 🤔 I’ll have to check them out 👍
Just pure TH-cam gold. Start to finish entertaining, funny, informative and down right genius workmanship from you both. 💪🎶🎶you’re simply the best🎶🎶
Cheers Steve my man, much appreciated mate 👍
Congrats on the Festool Tracksaw. My wife was dubious about it as well, but I think it has been one of the best tool purchases I've made. Next up... the Festool Domino. :P
Brilliant bit of kit hey 👌👌, I’ve been looking at the domino too, have to convince her more on that one 😂😂👍

I hate when you say “see you next week“ it’s a reminder of how much time I have to wait for another video 😭😩I love your videos
😂😂😂😂😂😂 thanks 😁
Well done guys, it’s looking pretty swish 😊
Cheers Ivan 👍
Given the lip you’ve put on all the cabinets and even that little shelf, I don’t think you need a bungee ! Look so good - glad to see you dry fitting everything to work out those last pesky details 👏👏👏👏
Thanks Katherine 😁 on with the dreaded painting 🤦♀️
Great video and love your style ( and banter !) .. totally agree. No bungies 👍💞
Thanks Johanna 😁 him and his stupid bungees 🤦♀️😂
You gotta love tool talk Tuesday. Although I always hear it as tool torque Tuesday 😂
😂😂 can’t unhear that way now 😂
@@truebluetravellers it will never sound the same 😂
Hi friends! You are both hysterical! Really enjoyed this video Your build is looking very good and so fast! John your hair looks great Good for windy days Look forward to your next video Love and hugs from Sharon in SA
Thank you so much Sharon 💙 so lovely to hear it gave you a laugh 😁 but dear god don’t encourage him about the boofy mop he’s currently calling hair 😂
Lol okay! Can you imagine what that hair does on a really windy day! Have a great week! ❤
Guys, I found your channel two days ago and I’m sad to say I’ve lost two days of my life just watching your back catalogue of your videos!
Thought I enjoyed the travel beans channel until I found you both. Great personalities, a cracking couple, and Jon, I’ve got tool envy along with envy of your practical skills! Owning three classic Vw beetles myself I like to think I’m quite patient and creative, but you two take it to the next level. I could do with some of Your knowledge and experience on the mechanicals.
Your channel is just brilliant. Throughly enjoyed it and you’ve made my Saturday evening to see you’ve got a new upload. All the best to you both, I’m expecting your channel will blow up in the coming months and rightfully so.
All the best,
Ben
Ben, your a star, love getting these messages and love that your enjoying them, it’s much appreciated mate 👍💙
Great team work...Jess, not sure about cake for breakfast 😮 Love you guys ❤❤
😂😂😂 it’s a regular thing with her Susan 🤷♂️😂
It's amazing! As nice as the wide open space of the interior looks - I think to myself- not possible. And, then miraculously you not only get all the creature comforts; bed, shower, kitchen - but, it actually looks bigger! And, all your crazy humor makes the build look effortless & fun! (probably, not). Looks great! even though waiting for final touches!
Thanks Judith, the plan worked out out perfectly, we were confident, honest 😂
Brilliant love the build and the two of you's banter 👍
Loving the track saw 😉
She’s a beauty isn’t she 👌 cheers mate great to hear you enjoy it
Jess, you have so much patience,I’m surprised you haven’t said”see you next tool’s day” to Jon yet,lol
😂😂😂
😂😂😂 That’s a good one!!! He drives me mad but luckily I love the fool… or should I say tool 😂
😂😂😂😂😂💪🏻💪🏻 🔧 brilliant as ever, can’t wait for the next instalment, cheers.
Cheers mate 👍
Thank you guys - another fun information vid!!
Your welcome 😁Thanks for watching 👍
Pop rivet idea solution was great, so obvious now, but how many times have I riveted at an angle. The additions you add to your collection will always improve the quality of the work and reduce the time achieving the results you want. You don't purchase tools for tools sake.
That’s exactly it mickey, apart from loving tools like you say it makes a huge difference when you have the right tool for the right job 👍
you two are very talented you make a great team and are a bit of a laugh ps loving the puppy
Thanks very much, big bad Bri is a dude hey 👍
That bit with the hair was giving off serious Marv getting electrocuted in Home Alone 2 vibes!
😂😂😂😂 I’m gonna miss all these marv jokes when I get it chopped 😂👍
Grrrr you make it look so easy😂 brilliant job.
😂😂😂 cheers mate 👍
Love what he doing with the van, just remember if you're going somewhere cold the metal will have condensation and if too cold you might stick to it. Looking forward to seeing it finished.
Cheers mate 😁👍
This van build is really taking shape now. Well done guys, for both the content and your filming and; editing work!
Thanks very much. So happy with how it’s coming together, although feels like Groundhog Day this week with all the prepping and painting 😅🤦♀️😂
Amazing build guys 👏👏
Thanks very much 💙
Great build. Agree - no bungies...
Yes Jan, get in! 💪💙 thank you
