05:26 - If You’re wondering why I hit the Taylormade P790 instead of the Stealth
They should cut the "GI Iron that has the same name as the driver of this season"-line. i doubt that anyone would be overstrained by the p790 so why even bother with a stealth? if price is an issue. Id rather play with a used hybrid, fitted 7 and 9 P790 and a milled grind wedge, than with a 5-P Stealth set. you can buy the other clubs as you improve. change my mind.
love the idea of bringing in a high handicap golfer
As a 8 handicapper... Taylormade Stealth HD irons are by far and away the best game improving irons on the planet. If you have not tried them... run to your nearest PGA Super Store and do yourself a favor. These irons have made hitting my 7 thru 5 irons fun again at age 65 and the height on all of my iron shots have improved dramatically. I've had to supplement my set with Titleist 505 3 and 4 hybrid irons to round out my TM HD set because TM decided not to include a 3 or 4 iron as options to the HD sets. They are not quit as easy to hit as the TMs but close.
Good to hear this Guy. I've been struggling with the 5 & 6 in my P790's and have picked up a 4, 5 and 6 in the Stealths. I'm keen to try them and see how they compare!
I was fitted a few months ago and my top 2 were the JPX 923 HM and the Paradym X with the Ping G430 a little behind. The price difference between the Mizuno and Callaway was several hundred dollars so I am now playing a custom set of JPX 923 HM!
How are you liking the HM’s? I just ordered a set. Also, do you notice grass / dirt getting stuck in the open creases in the cavity?? I just noticed there’s little openings on the back
@@RyanAnthony1987 I have played many rounds with the 923 HMs and have no issues with dirt in the back of the clubs.

I have the srixon zx4 mk2s and definitely the best clubs i ever owned. My previous set was a set of ping G25s and normally shoot in the 90s ans my last 2 games with the srixons i shot 81and 80.

I’m currently playing to a 4. I have 3 rounds w my new jpx forged irons and they’re pretty good. Switched from pxg 0311p . Mizuno is a quality iron and arguably the best value.
How did you like the Pxg I did get fitted for the 0311p but I wanna try more options before I get an new set
@@maxoutauto they’re awesome. Center hits are buttery. Deff soft feeling off the face like a typical forged iron. They’re softer feeling than the mizunos.
I went for my testing this wk end.
Tried P790, Srixon ZX4, Paradym, Titleist 350, Mizuno Hot Metals, and Ping I525s.
Honestly they all felt sweet to hit. Was a hard decision to make. Narrowed it down to ZX4 and Paradyms. Ended up going with the Paradyms. Hit them more consistently.
7 iron on average 186 yds total.
Ball speed 114
Best I had was 198 yds.
I’m happy with those numbers for a 55 yr old. 😊
My Mizuno 223s I couldn’t get numbers like that.
Can’t wait to get them in a couple wks.
I had a swing with all these in my fitting then at the end i got given the wilson Dynopower clubs . I thought it was miles ahead & so much better on price. Love your reviews mate keep up the great content
Im headed to order a set of Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metal tomorrow. I went and hit 4 other with them and loved the feel and distance of the Mizuno. Im 58 and been playing ping 425s then 430s and just not getting what i want out of those. Im a 8 handicap and my iron are the week part of my game so i'm hoping the Mizuno's help. This was just the video i was looking for , thanks and great job as well . new sub

I got fitted a little over a week ago and tried most of these clubs and the Mizuno were the clear choice for me they went 5 yards further then the rest and was more consistent all around. Just shows how clubs are different for everyone.

New subscriber. I just watched your 2022 and then this one. For 2 months now I've been researching and testing and I can't decide between the Stealth, Hot Metals or Srixon. But I was looking at the ZX5 MK2 rather than the ZX4. I'm going to sift through to see if you did a video on those. Hope Calgary is doing well, lived there for nearly a decade and I do miss it :)

I’ve tested Takomo is previous videos and have been impressed with their build quality! Wasn’t able to get my hands on a set for this review but I’d be certain they stack up fairly well

WOW! I watch a lot of videos trying to find the most forgiving and longest iron out there. This is THE BEST video I've seen. Great job!! The Cobra LTDX and Aerojet are at a great price point now but I read a lot about the fact that they don't go high enough to give me the stopping power. Did you find this as an issue with the Aerojet? I would love to see you test the Cobra LTDX, Aero and Dark speed and also the PXG Gen 6 XP. Thanks
Thanks for the kind words. Really appreciate it. The Aerojet's definitely seemed to have less spin and fly lower than their competitors. Perhaps you can pair it with a higher launching and spinnier shaft. I have not hit the Darkspeed yet but will include it in my game improvement 2024 video. Wil try to get the PXG in it too.
Really enjoyed your video.. I've got a ZX4 mkii 4 iron in my combo set and I can attest to its forgiveness. I get away with A LOT of mishits lol

Hi. Is it possible to have a mid handicapper review the best clubs? I’m a 12 so in my opinion an high handicapper or a pro testing isn’t as helpful as a mid handicapper. Hope you can do it. Love your content.

Would love to see peak height as you go through these tests. Especially for the game improvement category, the audience is likely concerned about getting the ball up in the air. Great video
These kinda videos are interesting for me, I'm getting back into golf after 12+yrs away and grabbed the Strata Plus set and then added a few clubs (White Hot Putter, 64deg PM Grind, 3h+4h Callaway XR OS). Looking forward to seeing how things go once i get back out on course this winter :)
Also highly interested in seeing how the mod-high handicapper does with the same irons as that's more indicative of my game

I appreciate your videos! I watched multiple rankings of irons before I went and got fitted a couple months ago. I went in thinking I was going to buy the Srixon or Mizuno irons you’ve mentioned, or possibly the Stealth irons. I hit everyone iron above (plus the Callaway Rogue from last year) and the Ping G430 were for me head and shoulders better than the rest on my dispersion and distance. It was interesting. They felt like they were made for me if that makes sense. I am a high handicapper, and I wonder if that’s why they did better for me versus someone like yourself that’s a much better golfer? Thank you for your content! It’s helped me a lot. Can’t wait to get fitted for driver. I enjoyed your driver series as well!
That’s awesome to hear. That’s why I always recommend getting fit. What works for me may not work for someone else.
L O L you sound like me I hit all the same exact clubs and I hit the pings the best I averaged 170 carry with eight out of 10 left side of the fairway or just left side of the fairway… it was hard to make a choice though but the ping 4303 felt the best for me …57 years old with the 83 mph swing with a seven iron.. Sidenote I am a new subscriber thanks for your videos

Amazing review! Thank you for the time you put in with a great detailed review! New follower here and regret not finding you earlier. Just getting back into golf after a decade off from a bad shoulder surgery. I currently still use my old callaway x-22 to which my all time low is 85. Want to invest in a set that will last me for awhile as a 43 year old. Slow swing due to injuries. I really like the idea of graphite shafts as well any suggestions? Aerojet was on sale at golf galaxy for $800 but I’m not sold on them. Need a club fitting and testing a few different but I love the look of the Titleist 350s. I never ever wouldve thought that mizuno would be a heavy hitter in terms of very good but i am interested in trying them also! Thanks for everything! Jmoe from Dayton, OH
Thanks for the feedback! I know a couple guys who use graphite iron shafts after getting shoulder surgery to lessen the blow of the impact. Worth a fitting forsure! Hope you find something you like.

10 yards or more of roll out is pretty much off the green. I would stick to Mizuno because it was the only one with 5 yards of roll out. What good is distance when you have to constantly chip to save par.
Ya I asked the fitters about that and they said because it's set to fairway. The roll out is used as a comparison and it's not going to roll out 10 yards on a green as it's more receptive. I don't have the option of setting it to a green and record the club data on trackman which is unfortunate.

For me, the xxio 12 has been the top choice. I had ping g430 hl but the xxio out performed and felt so much better still
Have been using Mizuno Pro 223s for a yr now. I’ve love them if it in the middle. After one yr I’m questioning myself if these were the right ones for me. My thoughts are they are too much for me. I’m far a “pro”, feel like I need something little more forgiving.
I’m 55 and can get 170 carry out of the 7 iron when hit perfect. I’m using Modus 95 steel shaft.
Would like more distance.
Before these I had Ping G425s.
Going to test some different irons this winter.
I live in Saskatchewan.

Why the P790? I would have expected to see the Stealth. As a beginner, would you then recommend the P790?
The hot metal pro is where it’s at game improvement but with way better looks, but it you have the P790 you would have the Mizuno Pro 225 no ? I don’t think the P790 should be in here IMO
Stealth is most comparable but I didn’t want to keep going over clubs I tested in last years video. I did a deeper explanation in the video.
I got fitted for the T350 last october, but to be honest, I'm so disappointed because in-between the hole irons had to be replaced because the plastic plate on the back felt out. Now I've got the new set for about 5 weeks, and it's just the same again. It's so annoying that something like this happens TWO TIMES with clubs that are so expensive. 😡
Ahh sorry to hear about your experience. That sucks cuz Titleist usually has really good QC. Hopefully you get it sorted out.
You should compare a set of Takomo 101s to these irons, just bought a set the other day for €489. Bargain compared to the cost of these clubs
I'm actually going to do a video comparing a bunch of direct to consumer brands and their game improvement irons. Then possibly I'll do one comparing them to some of the irons in this video. Wouldn't the TM entry be the Stealth 2? P790 is more comparable to the T200, Apex, etc.

Watching the video through I noticed the averages you read off for the JPX 923 HM were not the correct averages, but rather just the shot data for shot #32 you had selected. Havent finished the video yet so you might correct this later, but you picked the shortest shot of the bunch so it does affect things a bit haha
Yes you’re not wrong - when I go through each club at the end of the video I reference the correct averages and go though the dispersion of each club.
I think the left-to-right dispersion is a better metric rather than the distance

Just switch the JPX Hot Metal to the JPX Hot Metal Pro and there is the really winner

You only had one outlier that went too far compare to the other shots with the Paradym but immediately disregarded that club. Seem to have some bias whether conscientiously or not there. That long shot was also your only pull left and we all know pulled shots go much further. Thanks but might not be useable data for mid handicap players. Not trying to be difficult and enjoy the content.
I deleted the outlier tho as my worst shot so it’s not actually counted in my used data.

How would you have ranked the Stealth irons compared to the irons in this group?
In my previous review they ranked #2 behind the Mizuno. They feel awesome!
Curious Why are you mentioning the elevation? You are using the trackman. Is that a parameter?
Ya it's a trackman setting and it's set to our local elevation.
Have you hit the new Kirkland's yet? $499. I have a set and they seem awesome. I play to a 6 hdcp but much shorter with all my irons (67 yrs old). They come with elevate 115 shafts so a little heavy. What will go higher, the regular shafts or stiff for the average player?
I have not. Ive been trying to get my hands on them and with the Taylormade lawsuit now, it's even harder. Those elevate shafts are pretty good. The regular will generally go a lil bit higher and spin a tad more.
The clubs are sweet. I'm older and bought the stiff shafts but with my age I think the regulars may fly a little higher. We'll see, going to get a set today. I do play with a scratch player that plays them and he says he loves them as well. I also bought that driver, it is unreal. You need to test one.@@NewNineGolf

already played several rounds with the stiff shafts, they are great. I just want a higher flight so I'm on my way now to get some in regulars. The driver is the best I've played to date.@@NewNineGolf

I think price should be only of a marginal impact. When considering how long most people keep irons and how many times they will be hit it becomes a very small difference over the life of the club.
I agree. I didn't include price before but some subscribers wanted me to take budget/price into consideration. I think if 2 clubs are close in performance, then i would personally consider price. Not a big factor tho.
You can find them randomly in Costco store and sold out on line. With this Taylormade lawsuit I'm not sure when they will be restocked.
I commend you on your patience with comments. I read them to see feedback but the level of st#&!$@ is a bit overwhelming. I started counting the people who obviously didn't watch the video and complained about not having the Stealth irons in as opposed to the p790. ....OMG. And while I was counting those I see someone who wants Miura's in the game improvement category. I just stopped after that.

Good question. I have not seen any of their new stuff in person. I think Taylormade is positioning them as their budget direct to consumer brand. I'll try to get my hands on them when I do a DTC iron comparison with Takomo, Haywood, sub 70, Cayce, PXG etc

Unfortunately PXG has gone DTC and don’t have clubs at fitting facilities anymore. Couldn’t get my hands on one. I’ll try to get them for a DTC comparison video.

D9Forged wouldn't fall in line with what these clubs deliver (more in line with ZX5 for example) but I agree - we need more Wilson Staff coverage. Such great value and such long standing iron pedigree. I have D9Forged (smokin' deal at a recent Golf Town sale) and while they were an impulse buy (I am a lover all things Ping usually), I can tell you these D9Forged irons are legit in every way..... all for literally $1000 less (CAD) than some other irons in their "category".

Any shots that are left or right is the players fault not the clubs. You have to keep that in mind. Humans aren’t robots
Club design, matched with shaft and weight will effect how a club is delivered. You hook a robot up to a club that is more upright and has less toe weight than the next. They're not going the same spot. That's why fittings look at dispersion and tendencies.
I don't see or appreciate the value in a 7 iron having a 15-20 yard roll out! A 7 iron will (almost) always be an approach shot. Many of the greens I play could never be held with such a club, esp if the pin is tight or the greens are running fast.
Im not able to set this to a green on trackman for these comparison. I use the roll out as a comparison. In real life or if I set it to a green. The roll out would be less than that as greens will be more receptive than fairway. Even a super fast green. For me, 13-15 launch, over 6500 spin and a landing angle of over 46 will give me good stopping power. Your ideal numbers will depend on your swingspeed.

Brandon, why in the world would I want a 7-iron to have less spin and more roll out?! The 7-iron is used for approach & 3-par shots needing stops nearest the point of green impact. For a guy who plays great golf, you make zero sense with your discussion of a shorter iron. .... Gordon, 5-handicap

Any reason you didn't include the jpx 923 hl instead. This club is considered game improvement and fits high handicapper and senior golfers.
There were a couple manufacturers offering a HL option, for my game I do not have any issues lifting the ball. Perhaps I’ll include it for my mid/high handicap test subject

@@NewNineGolf Also, in terms of clubs, I think I'm in a spot where I want to make a decision for new irons in the spring. 12 handicap looking to add a few more yards of distance (I'm playing the old Titleist CDI 962s), with nice feel. I'm not really concerned with working the ball as much as consistent, solid ball flight that feels/sounds good. Anticipating exploring the 790s, T200 and ZX5s. Also considering Callaway Forged-X CB. Don't want to go full game improvement (size, chunky look) but also am not good enough for a 'players' iron.
