  • This is a rather long drawn out video... Sorry, I was winging it.. This video shows using the ECU reading program of Abrites and also using the Immo 4/5 module replacement tool CHEAT SHEET, read the used ECU's data with the ECU read/write tool, then put ECU into car and use the Immo 4/5 module replacement tool.. it's fricking awesome..

    Sir. I’m a professional tuning and electronic repair shop. Own full abrites for years now. Let me tell you that your videos are more than useful. Abrites is a great tool but, if we are honest, we must agreed with the fact that work with is not that easy. Not really instinctive and every user got sometime dark zone while using avdi. I thank you for your job and humility. I believe that several avdi users think like me. Miyagi Motorsport.

      Thank you for the encouragement... I am just like you, love the features, but sometimes can't figure out how they work... Sometimes we have customers that are in a big hurry, if you can't get it done in a couple hours, they want to move on to someone else... This customer was awesome.. It took a few days to figure this out, not 8 hours a day, but a couple hours at the car, a couple hours on the bench trying different things, and also back at the car.. If you notice the part where it synced the ECU to the car, my voice went up a couple octaves because that was my fourth try.. the three before it would go thru the programming and at the end it would say failed to synchronize, those trys I had written the data from the original ECU into this ECU, this try worked because I wrote the original used ECU's data back to it, then used the adaptation special function.. As for the videos, I am getting rather old and forgetful.. sometimes I post these so I can go back and remember what I did..:-)

    Thank you for making this useful video. Reading Abrites manual most of the time make me feel dizzy. I have understood some of the function watching your videos 😁 and sometimes go back and check when i dont remember something. 😅

    Please help, I have a 2008 audi a4 B8 car will not (crank) start even after used new ECU which was cloned, I was told it might need Cluster, ECU and BCM and it might start. Just want to know if I can sync the ECU to the BCM and cluster? Insead of buying ecu kit? Thank you.

      Even after you clone one of these ECU's, you have to sync, or adapt to the car.. Do you know which ECU you have?? which engine? if you have an MED9.1, sometimes even ODIS has trouble adapting those... AVDI does a great job, you see it in the video.. as long as you have the data read from the ECU you are good..

    How do you do it if you don't have the old ECU

    • @timtracy9442
      @timtracy9442  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      read the data from the new/used ECU with the ECU programming tool, then put the ECU in the car, use the immo4/5 tool and go thru the steps... The program takes the data that you read from the new/used ECU, then it reads the data from the BCM, and comes up with a file that it writes to the new/used ECU, then it adapts it to the car, then when you turn key off, and back on, it synchronizes the ECU to the BCM...

    Hello Tim, does it work if I just go and click on the first option. "Get ECU CS by OBD2". I mean not using EP001 at all, but instead plugging and then adapting by first option? thanks

    Hi Tim,
    Thanks for all the great videos.
    I recently adapted a used MED17.5.2 with ODIS.
    I tried Abrites IMMO Parts Adapation on MED17.5.2 and a MED 17.5.6 like you showed in your MED17.1 video but it errors out.
    I could be doing something wrong.
    Have you tried this new method on MED 17.5.2 or MED17.5.6?
    Thanks

      Did you read the data from the new/used ECU on the bench before you tried to adapt it to the car?? If you put the new/used ECU in the car and try and read data from it, it will error out.. I was told the gateway of the car will block communication... If you read it on the bench, and then load the files, it has worked everytime for me.... I tried ODIS on this car, but it kept coming up with, No valid key avaible in gheko for this car... This car had a rebuilt title, so maybe the gheko data has been deleted???? the only time I have run into this is when a car is flagged as stolen..., this one wasn't... I have done one other MED17.5XX with AVDI, but I can't remember which version... If you can, get ahold of a MED17.XXX and hook it up to the cable that comes off the side of the breakout box.. play with reading the data.. I was impressed as to all the data this program reads... On the last one, which I think was MED17.5.XX I was able to move data from one ecu to the other... what I found on this ecu is when you click on info, it shows that there is a OTP portion in the data... That means that in one of the sections, usually the larger file, that the data there is One Time Program.. so to program a used module into another car, it has to manipulate the other data to make it work... good luck... First off, read the ECU on the bench....

    Great Video Tim, I just had this same problem on a 2010 A4 that I had a computer cloned but vehicle still will not start. I would love to purchase this abrites software and tool so I can do it my self instead of sending it off to the dealer. can you guide me in the right direction as to what tool is needed and where I can purchase in the us. Thank you for taking the time to make this great videos.

    If I am seeing this correctly you essentially cloned the ECM. Why then did it need to be sync with BCM ,if cloned should it not appeared to the BCM as if it was the original ECM?

    • @timtracy9442
      @timtracy9442  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      because even if you clone a VAG ECM, you still have to sync it to the BCM2.. In the older cars, yes, you can just clone the ECM, but in the newer cars that have Immo 4 and above, you have to sync the the modules... It is really different on the newer cars, had a 2018 audi Etron, It was called something like that, used the factory tool and after it programmed a new dealer key, it had to sync the BCM2, the cluster, the ECM, the TCM, and the ABS module before the car would start.... and halfway thru the first go round, it failed... key would turn on car, but it wouldn't start engine.. scary few minutes.... And just remember, there were OTP sectors in the ECM, those can't be changed, so ABRITES redoes the data so it looks the same to the other modules, how it does that, I have no clue... I was impressed that it was able to do this at all.. The factory tool, would not program this used ECM into the car...

      @@timtracy9442 I am a shop. The car we are working on is a 2012 cc that had a bad ecm -blown ecm fuse,no com with new fuse, computer was getting very hot(one chip inside hit 260f in just 30sec.) so there is no doing a dump from it unless perhaps done directly off chips. Replace computer (used) now car starts but of course shuts down ( i knew this would be the case). The last time I dealt with this just sent it to the dealer and it was flashed and sync. At the time a friend of mine (former employee of mine)was the lead mechanic for the dealer and it took no time at all ,I do not think it even came off the tow truck . Do you think dealer will have a problem with this one with a used computer getting it sync/flashed since it is newer?

      @@mitchellcrane9809 On the 2012 CC, you have a slot key, and the slot key communicates with the CCM, which is behind the glove box.. the CCM has CS and MAC that need to match the ECU, or should I say the ECU needs to have its CS and Mac changed to match the CCM... Is your ECU a ME17.XXX or a ME9.1? Will the dealer tool have issues??? it shouldn't.. even with a used ECU... if it is a ME17.XXX the dealer might tell you that only a new ECU will work.. that is what happened here... good luck...

      @@OzzyTheFerret129 All these tools have there strengths and weakness's.. I like AVDI because it works on a lot of different vehicles... The VAG program is better than any of the other tools, ask anyone and they will say it is expensive, but it is the best... If you watch the video you can see how AVDI reads the data from the ECU, and it tells you that it has OTP sectors, OTP is One Time Programable, If you try and just clone an ECU with OTP, it will have issues because the checksum will be wrong because it can't write the OTP's.. so what AVDI does is change the data in the programable sectors so that the checksum is right and the ECU looks like the original..., then it syncs the ECU with, in this case it was a BCM that has the Immo data, and then the car runs.. Any ECU that says BOSCH on it seems to work great, the Continetal and Simos ECU's don't have as much coverage...

      You know you want to buy VAG full... all the cool kids have it... I can understand why locksmiths buy the lower price programs, most just want to make keys, and there is nothing wrong with that... But in my locale, there are so many gippo locksmiths cutting corners and messing things up, I kinda like following behind them and fixing things.. I have only had a couple customers who complain about price.. and when that happens, I love having the ability to pack up and leave...
