couldve spent the money on the exterior first. whats the going price for a redone clear coat, 500 bucks at most? well its been a few years hope you got around to it
You don't just redo fading paint and peeling clear coat for $500. Maybe at maaco? The cost of a decent shop to sand and properly repair the paint is thousands. Anyone less than that wouldn't even be covered by my insurance company. That being said, if I wanted money in the exterior I could've done it, but I obviously had a different image for the car (not sure why that needs to be explained). If you watch later videos you'll see what the car is now.
I don’t know shit about cars but is it possible to make it 700hp? Or is 400hp the most this car can do? I have the same 04’ Corolla CE and I’m trying to make mine into a sleeper lol
I currently drive an 04 ce with well over a quarter million miles on her (her name is Carol). I'm about to get another one with a 5 spd for a project car. I'm going with a stroked 2zz and still considering adding boost. My question for you... how reliable has your corolla been with the mods? These are the most bullet proof cars I have ever seen when kept stock with or replacement parts and that is the reason I want to build one with moderate power. The stock handling is impressive, but mild upgrades could easily make it a worthy track car. My current has the 4 spd auto, and gladly spins tires (when it rains) with little throttle input due to the decent low end torque the 1zz should be famous for. If I go through with the build, I want to know if I will be able to drive the shit out of this car day in and day out, and still see the odo roll past 250k. Your thoughts?
Jake Mcmillian this setup is still new. The motor only has maybe 20k miles on it. So far so good, though. I always let it warm up to operating temp before doing anything nuts, and always check the oil. Now, on my last setup, which was completely stock 1zz except for stage 2 cams (see video from a couple of years ago). It was turbod and tuned 225whp and I drove it over 100k with it like that. It all depends on the tune. Good tune from someone reputable, and do good maintenance, it should last a long time. Now keep in mind, any car that you drive harder will never let as long as it would is you drove it like 90% of the population drives theirs.
What does a turbo set up like this normally cost? I bought a 05 corolla today and it has headers, exhaust, intake, lightweight underdrive pulley so im thinking of adding a turbo potentially if it bolts on pretty good and not too much fabricating involved.
When you did this did you have to do any upgrade or changes to the drive train on it? Like the CVs or anything like that? Ive been researching info for an TDI 2.0 swap on my 2013 LE for a sudan style overland build and I wasn't sure if the drive train would be able to handle it. I'm not sure what the drive train on it is rated for in the first place
I'm sure the tolerances are different since we have different cars. But my drivetrain is very weak and these don't hold power well at all. I broke my Corolla 5sp and changed out to a Corolla 6spd. I have since broken a few of those already as well. The axles don't seem to be a problem for me right now. Of course I've upgraded the clutch package but that's a given to do with power mods.
@@brandongodwin2539 that's solid information for me, I was looking at a VW TDI BHW 2.0L v4 turbo diesel swap. If I remember correctly it's got about 136hp stock and significantly more tq than a Toyota 1.8VVTi, I think around 270-300ftTq. I would keep it relatively or at most a stage 2 tune and kit for more accessible power when over landing. I just didn't know the rating for the axles and if they could withstand the additional Tq on them from the VW TDI swap. I'm sure the stock TDI 6sp-man trans could handle a stage 2 kit, if not with some minor changes

I do still have this car, sort of. Hard to explain, but you can watch my latest video to see what's been going on with the car. To be honest all my hp comes from the turbo, but it couldn't happen without the appropriate supporting mods (fuel upgrades, engine upgrades, tuning, etc.

@@wesleyhites02gt19 wrong lol. The way you described it would be a closed loop setup between the turbo and throttle body which would not do anything but hold stagnant coolant. Let me try to break it down a little easier... Normally, there is a hose coming from the engine to the throttle body, then it comes out of the throttle body and goes back to a different spot on the engine. What I did is unplug one of the hoses from the throttle body and plugged it into the feed of the turbo instead. Then I ran another hose from the exit of the turbo back to the throttle body where the original hose went. **Think of it this way... Cut one of the hoses running to the throttle body and "T" your turbo into it. Really that's all that you're doing. Does that make sense? So instead of the coolant going directly from the engine to your TB, it now has to reroute through the turbo first then goes to the TB.
@@brandongodwin2539 ohhhhhh gotcha yeah that helps, so the turbo is in series so it has to push coolant through the turbo. Where did you source the cooling/oil lines from. I'm struggling to find stuff online /: Help would be much appreciated
@@wesleyhites02gt19 now you have it, that's correct! I just used the rubber hose that AutoZone sells behind the counter. I took the stock hose in so we could match up the sizing, then I just bought a few feet of it. Nothing special, just make sure they know it'll be used for coolant. I have barb fittings on the turbo for coolant lines, so I just pushed the hose down on the fittings real tight and used clamps.
I added a video to my channel a few months back. Feel free to check it out. I swapped the engine and parts over to a new corolla and 2zz swapped this red car.

Dear Godwin I wanna install turbocharger on my corolla GLI 2000 cc model 2015 and my friend said me that only increases 30 hp , and for me this is good power. What is your idea. please tell me which kind of turbocharger is good for my car only increase about 30 hp
I don't know anything about that kind of Corolla, I have never worked on one. But I would think that adding a turbo kit would give you more than 30hp. Of course you'll always also need to have it tuned.
If you have a stock 03 corolla S which turbo kit would you recommend to get to 170-180 hp at the crank and be able to enjoy the car without having to replace clutch and other weak parts? thx.
2BrotherProductions to be perfectly honest, if you turbo your car at all, a new clutch is mandatory. That being said, any kit should be able to get you more than 200whp. My recommendation for best bang for your dollar is the turbokits.com kit. It's one of the least expensive, and it literally comes with everything you need (except clutch upgrade). If you're auto, then you're fine. I was tuned on one of those kits for a while and made 225whp. Stock motor. It was a blast.
thx for the reply the corolla is a daily driver so I don't want to mess that up. I want the closest thing to stock but with a bit more punch and being a turbo maybe better mpg. I guess replacing the clutch is no big deal. How much hp can the stock internals handle? My project car is a Mustang. Awesome Corolla you have keep those videos coming.
2BrotherProductions if you go watch my older video that I posted of me running it at the track, that's a completely stock motor (besides upgraded cams). 225whp. You'd probably make 200 without the cams. That car ran for almost 6 years before deciding to upgrade. As long as you get it professionally dyno tuned, you'll be just fine.
The stock motor is limited more by torque than HP. But to make it easy, 240hp is probably enough to ruin the rod bearings. You can tune a car to make it safe on the internals, but when you over power the bearings, nothing can be done about that.
Lol yeah could buy a supra mk4 for the price you just put into that corolla but hey I love my corolla and I’m building it too please post a list of everything you did and where you got it or if it was made please !!
Hey man awsome car where can i find these parts or a variety of racing parts for my 2005 corolla s cant find nothing from low comp pistons well just cant find anything honestly hope to get a feedback
K swap is much harder than you think. The kit they sell is just for fitment. That's only 5% of what's needed to complete the k swap. Now, to be honest, if I did it all over again, I'd probably build a 2zz and do the same thing. I also would have gone e153 swap at the beginning instead of going through 4 stock transmissions lol!
@@brandongodwin2539 Thanks for the insight. I've followed a couple MR2 builds where they did K swap, so I know theres a lot that goes into it. Even if you spend the money on a standalone and K series harness you'd still have to worry about brake lines, power steering if you want to keep it, and AC if you want that too. But other than that, it seems like all you need is to get the intermediate shaft and the axles MWR provides. Still seems like it'd be cheaper than building a 1zz. But yea, I hear you on the 2zz. It is suer cool to see the 1zz get some love though dude, love the build. keep it up
Straight bolt on. All same parts and fitment. Things to note, though: it's honestly easier to pull the engine/transmission out of the top as a unit and swap it that way than it is to pull just the transmission out of the bottom by itself like most repair manuals suggest. Either way, it isn't necessarily an easy swap because of the amount of work that has to go into it, but not necessary hard either. Just remember to tape/label everything you disconnect and ziplock/label all of your nuts and bolts. In my opinion...worth it if you plan on revving the engine higher. Otherwise not really worth swapping out unless you just want 6 gears. Definitely not going to speed up the acceleration. However, if you're revving 7k or higher then you might start getting some performance gains out of it. A 1zz HAS to have top-end upgrades to go any higher than stock, trust me on that.
@@brandongodwin2539 I can't actually figure out how, lol. Thanks for the quick responses man I really appreciate that. Are there any mods you'd recommend over others for a bone stock one?
@@AnthonyMcAfee if you're not putting allot of money into it, then intake and exhaust mods are the simplest performance mods that don't really require a tune. Or maybe some suspension upgrades. Any real power adders are going to cost more, plus will require a tune which involves a new ecu and a bunch of Dyno time.
I've rebuilt the top end once because i misshifted and overrevved the engine. Bent all 16 valves lol. That's a good thing though, the performance valves did their job by bending and not breaking off and ruining the whole engine. But besides that yes same motor. Still runs strong.

And after seeing your video, now I'm considering the fully built 2ZR-FE engine from MWR with all the best options added: 9:1 wiseco pistons, performance cams & crankshaft, crower connecting rods, port head... you think i should build out my 2ZR-FE engine while Naturally Aspirated first and do it right? or just slap on the turbokit as it stands now (Stock) with supporting mods (catch can, AEM-EMS-4 & gauges)? The barebones turbokit has done 220whp on the stock 8.5 psi wastegate setting, but id like to reach for 260whp+ and maybe 300whp safely... thoughts?
I'm always pro engine build lol. But it isn't cheap! A good tune will keep you going for a really long time on 10psi or less on stock internals. If you build your engine correctly and have it tuned well, then who knows what you'll get out of it, especially with a good transmission.

Any chance youd be able to throw everything in the description. i have a 04 (blue) toyota corolla and am just starting to look into making it fast and fun!
I've listed just about everything I could think of in the video itself. Good luck with yours!
Brandon Godwin my boy said bruh just listen
How much for the total build thinking about doing same to my Corolla
couldve spent the money on the exterior first. whats the going price for a redone clear coat, 500 bucks at most? well its been a few years hope you got around to it
You don't just redo fading paint and peeling clear coat for $500.
How much hp can the stock transmission handle safely
Give us a test drive
Brandon Godwin thanks for the reply. Glad to see I'm not the only one who sees potential in these little cars
What does a turbo set up like this normally cost? I bought a 05 corolla today and it has headers, exhaust, intake, lightweight underdrive pulley so im thinking of adding a turbo potentially if it bolts on pretty good and not too much fabricating involved.
Can I get some info I got a 06 I’m wanting to do the same with and wanted to ask some questions.
“It’s a little modified”
What ECU did you use ? Is the stock ECU tuneable ?
To be a legit sleeper, how many M3s, G37s or Audi S4s have you shocked off the interstate?
Hello, I like your car, I have one like it but it's white. And can you please tell me how much you spent installing the whole system
If you want everything from the engine, turbo kit, tuning, etc you're looking at around $20k. Can just turbo your stock engine for around $5k.
i feel stupid for not being able to find this but how much boost are you running?
This is all really great. I'm just left here thinking where do I start? How did you take it from a 5 speed to a 6 speed?
Is actually a very simple upgrade if you're comfortable with tools. The 6spd from a corolla/matrix xrs is a direct swap.
@@brandongodwin2539 How did you find a transmission to swap? Scrap yard?
@@brandongodwin2539 what precautions or essential additions would you have for putting a turbo on a 5-speed?
@@malx7756 usually just look online to see who's got one within an hour of me. I've gone through a few of them so have found them used from various places in the past.
@@malx7756 corolla 5 and 6 speed transmission are weak. Very weak. Once you into the 300 range and up they become unreliable. Just know that it will happen and it's not the end of the world lol.
Bro how you did the return line?
Damz.. i want to do something like that to mines too.
Do you still have this car? I'm wanting to buy another 2003 pontiac vibe gt with 6 speed. Had one before that was a ton of fun. Had a turbo bolt on kit for it. Probably only made 240 or 250, but it felt like it was so much. Sold it when I got divorced but now I'm looking for a toy again. I want to go more but it genuinely looks like you have $15k wrapped into it to get 400 hp and 365 torque. Besides the turbskie whats the biggest thing for hp gains after that? I just ran a cat back straight pipe and it sounded great, and would do it again that way.
I do still have this car, sort of. Hard to explain, but you can watch my latest video to see what's been going on with the car. My first turbo kit before I built the engine was only 225whp, but that was still very fun! To be honest all my hp comes from the turbo, but it couldn't happen without the appropriate supporting mods (fuel upgrades, engine upgrades, tuning, etc.
@@brandongodwin2539 if you ever get a chance leave the stock cat in place and run the standard diameter pipe from the cat back straight. I had magnaflow and compared to straight pipe it sounded awful, and the drone at cruising was cut in half.... peace
Where did you tap in on the motor for turbo coolant lines?
Hijacked coolant from throttle body.
@@brandongodwin2539 ohhhhh, so you removed the stock hose, ran a hose from the throttle to the turbo and then ran the return to the output of the stock coolant tube? Do you have any photos you can email me? (wesleyhites@gmail.com) I want to run a gt25 but the coolant lines are messing with me and I'm not about to run a T3/T4 turbo
It’s a beauti though
Who tune your car???
is there a link for all of this?
Thoughts on new Performance Chip for Toyota Corolla 2005 CE for increase power?
Scam. No good chip for the Corolla
Is this Corolla still around? Any updates?
I added a video to my channel a few months back. Feel free to check it out. I swapped the engine and parts over to a new corolla and 2zz swapped this red car.
I’ll buy it from you I got another two toyota corollas 9th gen auto under project as well
Come get it man it's yours lol
Where is this engine now!?!?!?
Watch my latest video, it'll tell you. In a nutshell, the engine still lives in a different Corolla. I've rebuilt the top end a couple of times but it's still kicking!
Which transmsision do you have?
Dear Godwin I wanna install turbocharger on my corolla GLI 2000 cc model 2015 and my friend said me that only increases 30 hp , and for me this is good power. What is your idea. please tell me which kind of turbocharger is good for my car only increase about 30 hp
I don't know anything about that kind of Corolla, I have never worked on one. But I would think that adding a turbo kit would give you more than 30hp. Of course you'll always also need to have it tuned.
how'd you learn to build that
Did you built it your self
I got a 06 today. Wondering how much it’ll cost me to do all this?? An if I can still use as a daily?
Probably around 3k to 15k matters what your budget
what turbo you use
❤
i wanna get the turbo on my car. i have the same one. whats the change on mileage?
Get an xrs if you want more power
Lol yeah could buy a supra mk4 for the price you just put into that corolla but hey I love my corolla and I’m building it too please post a list of everything you did and where you got it or if it was made please !!
how much did this run i drive a daily 07 corolla would love this set up
A lot to build the motor, run a custom turbo setup, upgrade all of the fuel components, and flex fuel tune. A whole lot lol. Totally worth it though 😉
Hey man awsome car where can i find these parts or a variety of racing parts for my 2005 corolla s cant find nothing from low comp pistons well just cant find anything honestly hope to get a feedback
Monkeywrenchracing.com is a big one. If that doesn't help, look up DD Performance Research in Texas and call them. They can find parts for you.
Do you think it would have been more worth it to just use the monkey wrench racing K swap kit and boost it?
It is suer cool to see the 1zz get some love though dude, love the build. keep it up
and well of course shift linkage and getting the throttle and brake cables and shifter all in place.

Me with my 2009 Toyota Corolla S: 🤨
Was the transmission just a un bolt and bolt on affair or was there more to it? Thinking about doing it on my cousins car.
@@brandongodwin2539 mind if I message you?
@@AnthonyMcAfee fine with me
@@brandongodwin2539 I can't actually figure out how, lol.
Do you have the same motor still ? Did u blow anything on it? Im looking to do a similar build and I want it to be reliable.
I've rebuilt the top end once because i misshifted and overrevved the engine. Bent all 16 valves lol. That's a good thing though, the performance valves did their job by bending and not breaking off and ruining the whole engine. But besides that yes same motor. Still runs strong.

Around 2600. Full interior plus heavier suspension mods
wow. a 1ZZ at 400hp?? Nice! you ever get a dyno comparison of stock to the final power output? I'm intrigued to see this. I'm glad you love your corolla this much, ive got a 2013 Corola I'd love to do the same to: 2ZR-FE that I just had the auto U341E tranmission built to withstand 500WHP & 650 WTQ, I'd like to push as much out of this engine with the barebones turbokits.com turbokit.
Bro where did you get the turbo kit, I want one for my 2005.
