*Always follow the instructions in your repair manual when doing repair or maintenance work on Outdoor Power Equipment. Manuals can be found at the manufacturers website.*
This video explains how to replace the belt on a Lawnboy model 10734 walkbehind lawnmower with rear wheel drive, and how to route and connect the cable underneath the lawnmower body. This video is a reply to a question I received at thesmallengineshop.net forum concerning the drive belt and cable for a Lawnboy model 10605. I no longer have access to this model, but I do have a Lawnboy model 10734, which i believe has an identical rear wheel drive system. If it is not identical, it should be very similar.
    Thanks for watching!

This was a great help on my 17734 mower. I tried a mower repair place the first time that my belt went bad and it was EXPENSIVE (1/2 the price of a new mower) and took them a month. I struggled getting the wheel/transmission assembly back in until I realized (as you had pointed out) that I need to slide that red sleeve on the wheel w/ height adjuster out of the way so that it would fit in the slot. Thanks for helping me save $150+...

I ran into the same problem with the red bushing, I couldn't figure out why the axle on the height adjustment side wouldn't go back into place.

It's more complicated if one has a blade brake, isn't it? If you get one of those in your shop, I'd love to see how its done. By the way, you have excellent well thought out, no-nonsense videos. None of this "How's it goin' guys" jargon for several minutes before any instruction begins. Thanks.

yes they are, you have to remove the cable that engages the blade brake , on some its a rear pain ,but most real easy.

You should have included the removal of the belt guard. That's the only thing I needed to see and you excluded it from the video.

I own a lawnboy like yours and I replaced the belt with the correct belt but it continues to slip off the pulley on the transmission. Why would it do that? The pulley is not shiny or rusty either and it looks as good as new.

I fought trying to put axle back on before realizing the bushing was the culprit. Now have to figure out why it does not work after replacing the belt.

Does that red bushing slide into place easily ? I have been fighting and trying to get the axle back into position. Thank's

@@daleluzum8097 you have to position. It slides into wrong place.

Great video. In this video you appear to have the mower leaned over for working toward the carby side not the exhaust/oil drain side. Isn't this the wrong way?

I needed to get direction on removing the shroud. The two side bolts no problem, but the center bolt, It seems to be another size bolt and I can't find something small enough to get to it. Next time don't assume we all have easily removed the shroud. Show the steps and tools to use please.
