In my opinion, Rankin/Bass had one very good thing going for them: the writing. I've been constantly impressed with the dialogue in these shorts, the charming wit and intelligence they display make re-watching them after all these years almost more enjoyable than before.

Rankin Bass had some great cartoons not related to the holidays throughout the years. The most successful non holiday cartoon series....The Thundercats.

Don't you just love the old Rankin Bass cartoons? This is quality entertainment... shame they don't do this kinda stuff anymore.... they used to bombard the TV with this kind of stuff every Christmas and Easter - last time they did that was when I was 12yo, now that I'm 30yo I wan't this stuff back again....

The man who helped America become a better place. John Chapman, often called Johnny Appleseed, was born in Leominster, MA, September 26, 1774. He was an American pioneer who introduced apple trees to large parts of Pennsylvania, Ontario, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, as well as the northern counties of present day West Virginia.
Believe it or not Johnny apple seed was a man of god and also was a missionary. This all started when Johnny apple seed was in his teens when he wanted to help the country he lived in. So then he wanted to go out west and become a pioneer but he wasn’t fit to be one. So that day when Johnny was collecting apples in his apple trees a miracle happened an angle his own guardian angle was sent from god him self. And the angle asked Johnny why he doesn’t go west and Johnny replied because he ant got the muscle or the breath of chest and the strong men who survive and he’s about the puniest man alive. The angle said to Johnny he had courage faith and a level head and most important he had god on his side. Then Johnny replied, all he new was a apples then Johnny’s guardian angel replied that’s how your goanna help your county and become an pioneer and preach the word of god and plant apples trees all around the west. And the three things he brought to the trip was his bible a sack of seeds and a pan on his head. And that’s how it all began. Winter came the wind was roaring like a lion and the cold was terrifying and did Johnny stop no he kept going and made snow shoes for him self. Johnny walked by him self but was he alone no the animals in the forest where his friends. And the Indians were his friends to. They respected him and they showed Johnny how to find good food like berries and plants and roots. Most people would be afraid of wild animals. They had guns to shoot them. But not Johnny, he once countered an enormous black bear it did not hurt nor felt threatened by Johnny maybe he knew Johnny was a friend. So now Johnny had a business plan people say Johnny spread apple seeds randomly wherever he went but in fact he planted nurseries rather than orchards he built fences around them to protect them from the livestock. He left the nurseries in the care of a neighbor who sold the trees and he returned every year or two to tend to the nursery and Johnny planted peaty much every where and only planted them if he knew there were going to grow healthy and strong. According to legends Johnny apple seed planted not tens but hundreds of thousands of apple trees all around the west he planted them were they didn’t even exist. And those apples would feed the men at war when they ran out of food. Johnny was a vegetarian and he never would hurt an animal. Once he heard that a horse was to be put down, so he bought the horse, bought a few grassy acres nearby, and turned it out to recover. When it did, he gave the horse to someone needy, exacting a promise to treat it humanely. Johnny apple seed was a people person/COMMENT IF YOU WANT MORE
