What I do is normally use my Digital 8 camcorder. I hook the camcorder to my PC using firewire cable. I then hook up my VCR to my digital 8 camcorder. The camcorder acts as a go between from the VCR to PC. I capture the footage using Pinnacle Studio and edit as I want. I also have a Hauppauge HD-PVR that I can use instead of the camcorder.

I know that Carl Banas, who's listen in the credits, was in The Frog Prince as Sweetums, but as for the other voice actors in this film, I don't recognize any of them. They must be Canadian. I guess Arthur Rankin, Jr. and Jules Bass were in Canada at the time. Either that, or their recording studio was near Canada and not there usual USA site.
Yes a bunch of the voice actors based in Toronto worked for Rankin-Bass, and also the old 1960s Spider-Man cartoon: Paul Soles (Peter Parker/Spidey, Hermey), Billie Mae Richards (the boy in this cartoon as well as Rudolph), Carl Banas (Head Elf), Alfie Scopp (Percival, Charlie-in-the-Box), and Paul Kligman (J Jonah Jameson/Comet)
@@joecab1 After watching this again, I immediately recognized Rudolph's voice in Peter, since it was Billie Mae Richards. Len Birman was Peter Piper, and Paul Soles was the ruthless King of the Gaddywine.
Never seen this one in a very long time, but I wish if Classic Media should release "Festival of Family Classics" the complete series on DVD, another one of the Rankin/Bass TV series produced outside of the holiday specials. Classic Media already released "The Jackson 5ive" animated series on DVD and Blu-Ray a few months back, but let's hope Classic Media should release the complete series on DVD and Blu-Ray in the future.
This show could never be made today, since a lot of people would consider it racist because of the Mantu character, who looks like a stereotyped evil "Yellow Peril" Oriental, reminiscent of Dr. Fu Manchu or Ming The Merciless from the Flash Gordon stories. The two children in this tale look like the kids from the "Frosty The Snowman" special, which is also a Rankin and Bass production.
And I forgot to mentioned, Classic Media is now DreamWorks Classics, if they're going to release the whole series on DVD, why not give all the pre-1974 Rankin/Bass stuff to either WB (where they still acquired the post-74 R/B holiday specials and shows including "Thundercats"), Mill Creek, that would be better or some company to have the rights to it.
I've read 'A Christmas Tree,' and it was absolutely nothing like this cartoon (which is disappointing). Also, isn't it odd that the snow breathing dragon's name is Orlando, just like the city in Florida, aka one of the most hottest states in America all year long?
Ah my Childhood I got this on an old VH tape somewhere. man I miss this,
You don't get stuff like this no more.
I was 8 when this came out I do not remember ever seeing it and I love Rankin bass shows 🎄👏
@@courtneycarter4493 thank you so very much
Ty for sharing this .from the bottom of my heart..these shows keep me alive 💖🙏
This whole series needs to be on DVD.
Remember this as a very young child. Favorite. Like 3 yrs old
I have a joke 4 ya
I'll give it to ya
I was 5, and do not recall this.
It's good we still have them to remember our youth.😊😢🎉❤❤
This was one of my favorite Christmas movies thank you for putting it up 😃
+Meghan Dowd .... I never saw this when I was growing up .... Learned about it a few years back .... I'm glad you enjoyed it.

First time seeing this cartoon and on
😊 the list of my favorite 🎄 😊😊❤programs
Thank you 👍😊
I vaguely recall watching this once on TV when I was, I think, 5 or 6.
Thank god it's not the 1993 special that's called 'The Christmas Tree'. ^^
Well there is a 1991 and this 1972 btw
The Christmas 🌲 Tree with the orphans is pretty good
I haven't seen an exciting show like this since I saw the Rankin/Bass shows of Santa Claus is coming to town, and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
This is the year our house was built!
I've never seen this before it should be good I've always loved Charles Dickens
Charles Dickens is Mr.Christmas!
A mixture of Christmas and a fairy tale of Jack and the Beanstalk.
A lot of old movies that were released on VHS are being re-released on DVD. As far as I know this is not one of them yet.
I never saw this one before
Rudolph the red nosed reindeer was voice recorded in Canada and stop motion animated in Japan. Business decisions.

A lot of Rankin/Bass Cartoons were made in Japan by Toei Animation. So I guess you could say it is half anime. ;-)
This special was Animated By Mushi Studios.
VideoDaveO All Rankin/Bass 2D Hand-drawn specials were animated by Mushi Studios, known for Osamu Tezuka shows, Astro Boy, Kimba, and Princess Knight.
I never knew that. Surprising!
Debbie. 🎉.
I was looking every where for this cartoon for ages! Finally!!
Merci beaucoup (:
Weird!
Happy birthday Jesus😊
It has worked fine for me. Just make sure your PC has, at least, the minimum requirements for the unit.

the Hobbit was done by topcraft
Jim Cummings evil clown. 😮.
The kids would suffocate in the oven!
Love obscure anime commissioned by Americans.
Merry Christmas, Rankin/Bass's Festival of Family Classics!
I wonder what would happen if one of the kids drank the Christmas essence. Would he turn into Santa Claus?
❄️💙
Who voices Percival? He sounds like Tenderheart Bear from the earlier Care Bear eppisodes
The late Billie Mae Richards. She also voiced Bright Heart Raccoon and Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.

I've always liked Rankin/Bass's art style, just screams classic to me
Only some of the episodes were released on DVD but the full series hasn't. Many of the 13 episodes are only available on old VHS.
Oh, Rudolph
Billy may Richards, no doubt
this movie has only been made into a vhs that's how old it is. I should know I use to have it.
How Many Cartoons
Do you have Puss in Boots? I've been looking everywhere for it!
Where's Mrs. Hopewell?!

Manto looks like a mix between Mojo Jojo and the Count von Count
Really, Veston? not this face again.
I think so. And what makes you think NOT?

@@davidlevy5274 I know why you’re hearing Rudolph it’s Billy may Richards

the life and adventures of santa claus
Yes that was a good one!
AMC played all of them this year including The life & adventures of Santa Claus / The little drummer boy book 2 in their entirety! Yay!
Never seen this before
Cannot beat Rankin & Bass
just like memory

@ rattle snake shed yet blah blah
How embarrassing-- Rankin/Bass couldn't make one of their stand-alone Christmas specials out of this.
