  • Ahoy Fisho's, With Snapper season back open here in QLD, I decided to grab my soft plastic outfits and see if I couldn't find myself a big knobby or two to celebrate! The weather certainly wasn't red hot... but the fishing sure was!

    Nice to come along with you from the comfort of my lounge chair, just that little bit more comfortable than a 1:30 a.m. start 😉

    Loves the videos Sammy. Snapper was one of my favorite fish to catch while I was in Japan. One of the harder ones for me to catch, but they fight so well and are one of the best to eat in my opinion. Love the channel and I always look forward to your upload each week. Keep up the amazing job.

    Hay Sammy another cracking episode, snaps are one of my favourite fish to chase in moreton bay. I have been trying to nail them on the troll but yet to get one, patience is a virtue they say lol.
    I don't expect or want you to devolve your trade secrets, however maybe you could tell us less experienced anglers a bit more info.... such as what general area your fishing and the depth, for example out from the GC or the northern bay in 20 metres approx.

    Top shelf as always Sammy. Might have to give this plastics caper a whirl as I pretty much fish bait or liveys! Do you reckon rods like ugly stik golds would have a good enough action or do I need a new plastic outfit?

    • @SammyHitzkeFishing
      @SammyHitzkeFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Appreciate it mate! Personally I prefer a faster actioned rod than the glass ugly sticks. You’ll find the graphite lureing style rods are a lighter in the hand, can cast further and are more sensitive for bite detection. Check out the wilson blade and tails range 👌

    Fishing soft plastics like that might work well there. But in harder hit areas with less fish around like at Yeppoon, it’s a good way to waste a lot of fuel, get sunburned, catch Sweet FA, get told off by the Misso for going fishing all day again and not bringing anything home for dinner, and finally getting payed out by all your mates who bagged out using bait while you fucked around with lures that don’t work here. No lures work here.

    The gear you used there seem to be somewhat underpowered for muscling better fish up and away from the reef.
    It can be great fun, but it can also very easily result in loosing the really good ones, because you can't stop them.
    Been there and done that.
    I love fishing with light gear, but I prefer to use it where I don't need to be worried about the bottom or/and there are not much of a chance for bigger fish.
    For fishing like this, I totally prefer something where I really can force them up from the bottom without giving them one single cm to dive into trouble for me.

  • @darbyshaw1514

    Lovely fishing mate, are you very far out? I know you want to keep the location on the quiet but would you go out there in anything as small as a 4 metre boat.

    • @SammyHitzkeFishing
      @SammyHitzkeFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I probably wouldn’t take a 4m boat out the front there mate. Obviously you can take any boat out on a glass out, but if the weather changes while your out there it could be quite dangerous. With a boat that size you’d be better off fishing in the southern bay around the artificials and rubble patches 👌👌
