I have just watched Sgt. Stubby on roku and I liked it; I couldn't believe that it was a real thing like rin tin tin as a k-9 hero; yes I looked up rin tin tin too.
good video but in regard to Stubby rank as you put in the video, if you read further, he was put in for a promotion to be ranked Sergeant and became the first dog to be given a rank these 2 sentences alone confirms that Stubby was indeed a Sergeant whether it was taken serious or not you cant say you were put in for a promotion and given a rank to be not "officially" given a rank even though google and many other sources say he was put in for a promotion to SGT which doesnt guarantees the rank but if he really is the first dog to be given a rank then that just confirms it as if he was to somehow fail the promotion board then stubby wouldnt have been the first dog to have a rank this is just based on my experience in the US Army if your put in for a Promotion your facing high ranking people who have to give the approval to send you to a leadership course to be an NCO or in times of war you can skip the course and be given the Rank which is what I believe on how stubby got his Rank (either way Stubby is a mascot who was given a rank just like the Norwegian penguin was given brigadier and the Polish bear was given Corporal)

another thing is that all the american soldiers dont have web gear. they just have a uniform and helmet and sometimes a rucksack
