      I can't believe she said that!
      The number of times I've heard female singers talking or singing about how amazing they are in bed would make me feel self conscious and like a loser. This is the first time a woman I look up to is being honest about herself in this topic. I love her so much!

      Well from a guy's point of view, there no such thing as bad sex. But with that said, it is amazing how down to earth this lovely beautiful woman is. And now that I have found out what all she has gone through and how she wants to help others, it makes her more beautiful.

    "this is a body that has to get me from a to b and do what i want.
    and if i choose to , i can dress it up in colourful, fun, arty things.
    but beyond that, it's just a body that is here to support my brain.
    and my brain is the thing that matters the most to me."
    YES. just YES.

    I honestly hope that I don’t ever body shame my future children, despite having endured body shaming from my own mother. She grew up rather thin and didn’t start gaining more weight until after having kids. She would go back and forth between being on weight watchers or trying some kind of new diet trend and tried as much as she could to instill in me that I should be “healthy and active.” I do resent her behavior towards my body and how I choose to approach my health since it doesn’t reflect the standards of diet culture. She might feel that it is some kind of moral failing on her as a parent that her children aren’t perceived as “healthy” just because we carry more fat and weren’t as
    active in sports when compared to other people, especially other family members. And with some family weddings coming up, including my brother’s, she has already started her “let’s lose weight together” talks, even though I do have my own routine that I follow to keep my body feeling good and I don’t need any added stress of worrying about what others think about my weight.

    Jamila, you said something really memorable for me on Trevor Noah's show. You said that had you experienced a tremendous amount of shame in your feminism journey, you wouldn't have become the person you are today. I have never thought of that before I saw you on that show and it has been revolutionary for me. Now I know how atrocious shame can be in individuals. Thank you, I respect you and appreciate you so much!

    I remember you from your T4 days and I don't recall you being shit! Also, I love your take on impostor syndrome, when I first started my 'career job' I thought it would go away at some point, but I'm finally learning to accept I will always feel it. From now on I will try and look at it through the lens of 'hehe I'm getting away with it', rather than 'oh no I don't belong'!

    I've got a grandma whose constant focus in our interactions was how much I weigh/how heavy I look. It's taken me a really, really long time to A) get enough understanding of her to get that in her own warped worldview weight & looks are so important she is probably actually thinking she is being helpful by (only) commenting on how I look so much. B) develop security in asserting that other's opinion on my physical appearance (and also the part of my thoughts that developed due to/in anticipation of outside judgement) was gonna rank really low on my goals scale and rather I would strive for having a healthy body & mind. And who would have thought - my way really works better. I do have a side goal of losing a bit of weight (bc I'm in the adipositas-range and as that is statistically associated with adverse physical & mental health outcomes I would like to get out of there), but I do check in with myself to make sure I don't get my appearance/weight tangled up with any weird idea of worth, but rather it stays a self-set goal as it is supposed to.

      @aglaves4922 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Selfsewsunday There are many people who are oblivious to the fact that what they believe is healthy fits the confines of body dysmorphia, muscle dysmorphia, bigorexia and other forms of obsessive-compulsive and addictive behavior with respect to their appearance and concepts they believe to be "healthy", when in fact they are detrimental to their health. They are so obsessed about working out, subscribe to mantras such as "no pain, no gain" and eat unhealthy diets in an effort to produce a physical appearance which might satisfy their inherent goal and depiction of what a healthy, fit human body looks like. Anyone else who doesn't subscribe to their skewed version of reality is considered radical and unhealthy.
