Con: It is hard to be away from home for more than a day with house bunnies (and if you are thinking about getting a bunny to leave in a cage most of the time -- please just don't). Bunnies are social animals that don't like change. Sending them to a new location is much MUCH more stressful for rabbits than typical pets. When away from home you pretty much need someone to come to your bunny's home and stay there for at least several hours a day. Pro: Rabbits fecal matter is usually firm, dry, low-bacteria, fibrous material that doesn't stain or smell bad. So they generate less odor than a cat litter box. You still need to change the litter frequently due the urine. Con: Some house rabbits will follow their human companions everywhere under foot. This can be a huge tripping hazard for the humans (especially the elderly) and a big risk for injury to the bunnies themselves of course. To complicate matters, happy bunnies like to run tight circles around your feet. Pro: Bunnies are generally very quiet. They can thump pretty loud though. I've had to get up in the middle of the night because my bunny was thumping under the bed (bad bunny dream?). While most rabbits aren't found of being held tightly for a long time they love to lay beside you on the floor or on the arm/seat of a couch. Rabbits like to relax where they can run to safety quickly if needed - so the ground, with good sight lines, and someone else nearby to help stand guard, ... that's ideal. Being held against someone's chest is usually the opposite of that. Get them used to you by laying on the ground with them. Then try lightly holding them on your torso while you lay on the ground on your back.
Just pinned this. Very insightful, I completely agree. Especially as I gained more experience after owning rabbits for longer, I found these to be true, especially your first con aboutit being hard to be away from home. Rabbits do require a lot of attention! Thank you. :)
Bunnies have different personalities. One of mine is very friendly and she will nip your ankle until you pick her up and cuddle her, she chases the birds and her best friend is a cat. Another one likes to be petted only when on his blanket and doesn’t like being held and is quite anti social. His best friend is his reflection and he runs away from spiders😁
I think puppies r cuter. Also rabbits look weird with their eyes on side of head. Thats not cute to me tbh. Theyre cute just bec they are small and are extremely submissive lol
@@amp1984 um what ..? they are NOT submissive. some rabbits can be dominant towards their humans, and that depends on the rabbit and they are not "small". rabbits have bigger breeds and they can be as big as dogs. educate yourself first before commenting a stupid comment on a rabbit video. and why are you even talking about puppies on a RABBIT video?? if u dont like rabbits, then just go away and dont click on the video damn.
They can be litter box trained but they also poop like machine guns. They will also let loose if scared. Btw if you're a rabbit owner, don't buy cocoa puffs or Reese Puffs. You *will* regret it!!
I totally found a bunny poop in my bed and I thought it was cereal at first, but then I realized it was poop and threw it out. 😂 Not sure how it got there since he hasn't been on the bed all that often lol
poop should have been con#1 haha they poop sooo much my girl is 13 now and honestly doesn't have much longer but if anyone reading this is considering a bunny. they ARE NOT an impulse buy. this is a huge commitment. they poop alot they tend to chew up important things and they do tend to have some personal space requirements because of being prey but. they are WONDERFUL. this is my second bunny my first one was a boy he unfortunately had cancer that would not stay away. im 21 with my second bunny and i plan on having bunnies the rest of my life. the house just isnt the same without a bunnies binkies!
Caity Stepleton Your Good words will Help many interested in rabbit pets. A tip you might not have learned yet is that rabbits will poop far less with more fresh vegetables given them like fresh carrots with their green tops and dry uncooked oatmeal ( it is a rabbits chocolate - they adore their dry oatmeal). All rabbits must have their alfalfa pellets to eat regularly, which will make them poop more because with alfalfa to eat the rabbits also have a special “ singular poop” that is very shiny they need. It is rather like cows in their complex digestive system. They need alfalfa pellets to eat because this “ shiny special “ poop dropping comes because of the alfalfa and it helps keep their intestines and digestion extremely healthy. Then your bunnies will live long happy lives with your love and attention.
Caity Stepleton I forgot to mention that all rabbits will look for and must re-ingest this “special one shiny poop” they need it to stay healthy. A little gross to us, but we’re not rabbits. I adored all my rabbits and will likely get another two bunnies to join my birds I keep now.
i found a bunny last night and cannot believe how much poop. my gawd lol. it's like horses, they do that too, eat constantly (grass hay) and poop a lot
Our bun bun ate my house, furniture, speaker wires, base boards, bed foot and head board bottoms, dresser bottoms. We live in a tent now. No I'm kidding but he did chew all that stuff. Very destructive little guys. But man did we fall in love with him. Talk about the most precious and sweetest pet you could ever have. He was so smart and so much fun. We loved the binkies and the honking. All the kisses and grooming we got were a plus. He was so special. Oh yeh one more thing the poop balls are CRAZY...I dont know how one little animal can sh*t so much. Its unreal. He would leave a trail as he hopped around. Its was like they just fell out his butt. It actually became a joke after a while...bun buns balls (i had a male)
Lisa Marie lmao yes these stuff literally just drop out of their behinds. It's like they have no control but they are also potty trained so at least they don't pee all over.
I have 4 bunnies for like 5 years and I can't NEVER get enough of how cute they are... Literally every time feels like the first time I'm seeing a bunny they are way to cute to get enough lol
That's good to know 😂 my husband got me a Holland Lop bunny for Christmas, and she is the CUTEST little ball of fluff I've ever seen! It's been 4 months now, and I still can't get enough of how cute she is. I had wondered if it would wear off, because I just lose my mind every time I look at her 😂
Bunnies can be picked up if you hold them securely petting their tummy. They learn to trust you. You must keep wires away from the bunny area by encasing the wires in tubes like a water hose, so they can’t be chewed. You must keep wires high up or anywhere out of their reach. To rabbits wires are like hay to chew. Rabbits are not expensive to keep because they are vegetarian and are born immune to rabies or distemper. You must keep safe organic blocks of wood for them to chew along with hay because their teeth never stop growing. Bunnies can live 12-14 years if kept indoors and seen by your vet regularly. Your vet must know rabbits to protect them from their few health issues. House Rabbit Society will give you a lot of helpful information. Get a harness leash to take your bunny for walks outdoors that they’ll enjoy. Just pick your bunny up if a neighbor dog approaches and you’ll be fine as they hop along with you.
Kelly K.M. Carson hi thank you for the info. Listening to the lady in the video I was a little scared but your information made it easier for me to make a choice now I want a bunny. Thanks so much! 😘😘😘
I love that too! My bunny, Lubby, made the purr chatter when I put my face by his cheek or played with his ears. His mate, Lissy purred in response to nose pets.
Brilliant video! I have a little 11 week Mini Lop buck named Benjamin and he is such a fantastic companion! I've had him since 8 weeks and I have zero regrets getting a bunny as a pet :) Definitely lots to consider before buying/adopting though!
My bunny got in the fridge and ate meat we were planning to cook that day. He will eat raw meat if you not becareful. but maybe because he was little and didn't know anything idk, but he did eat raw meat.
my wife likes bunnies n after seeing this, it makes me glad I'm a cat person cause she dreams of having one as a pet. only time I'll put in effort & care for a 🐰 is when its with a side of biscuits & gravy
I have 2 bucks from the same litter and they are fine together (they are 7 months old) but I am still getting them neutered when I save up as it will make there life longer and better
My males who get along with each other best were also from the same litter. My other males who have lived together have taken time to get familiar, and some cannot even go in their yard at the same time because they fight.
My friend has two bucks from the same litter and they started to fight after a while. She got them neutered in the hope that would solve it, but they carried on fighting anyway. So now they live alone. Some buns just don't get on well with others.
I had 2 as well from the same litter, had them for about 2 years and they started to fight non stop. We had to separate them but they would always find a way to come for each other. My parents gave them away 😕
Alison Lekarev they need to be re-bonded, bunnies often times will have a bond till the reach puberty, then start to fight and lose that bond, then they get fixed but they have lost the bond by now and it needs to be reestablished.
I have two males. One neutered the other yet to be and they are fantastic together! I didnt even have to worry about a long introduction process they met and fell in love!
Very sweet video. I have had several rabbits which have lived an average of 8-10 yrs. Once you have one you become addicted to their extreme adorableness. Your experience sounds like mine ( walls, wood, cords etc. chewed on) and in the house hay, cardboard boxes and stray poop balls LOL! The best thing about bunnies is that EVERY thing they do is so darn cute!
I taught my bunnies to stay on a blanket sized for a double bed placed on the floor in a room with a door or child's gate. When playtime was over, I bundled the blanket up and shook it out in the grass. It was helpful to have two blankets just in case one needed to be washed. They learned the blanket playtime boundary very quickly. I added a liter box filled with hay in one blanket corner. It saved time on lots of sweeping and vacuuming. When playtime was over, they returned to their roomy double decker cage. Bunnies respond best to loving, patient caregivers. Kindness is key with them.
sarahtellez66 That's awesome! There's another bunny at the shelter I volunteer at named Bonnie too. It seems like the perfect bunny name: Bonnie the bunny! It rolls off the tongue well
saruh lol funny. My first rabbit was 3years old i took him off a women who had a dog and didnt get alone they also didnt vaccinate him or nurture him. So i took her off him and now he his living happily with a new bunny friend i got for him From a breeder let me tell you this i was looking for a female he owner told us it was a female as we took her she was 8weeks old We named her bonnie XD AS SOON TO DISCOVER bonnie is not a girl 😑🤦🏻♀️ We decided not to change her/his name lol as he knows it very well We called the breeder to let him know what happend he offerd he can exchange the bunny for us. After a week , but i got to love him too much to swap him Now still get confused and think of him as a girl 😂😂😂😂😂😂 we made this joke with my husband that bonnie is a transgender bunny 🐰 loool
I am getting my third bunny I dont know if the first one is alive my second one got hit by a car so exited for my new one cant wait dying inside sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo EXITED
I don't know which breeds may have those extended years but most don't make it past 5. Never had chewing problems since I made sure they had plenty of wood chunks for play toys. They need that to wear their teeth back. They can sense high voltage (110VAC) common in most homes and stay away from it but low voltage cords are one of their favorite past times. Great vid! You did a big favor to anyone thinking about a rabbit!
Great video! Very helpful! We had a giant lop ear bunny at the daycare where I worked for years. When he was in my class room we had circle time where all the kids could interact with him. I would take him out to the playground. He loved running where ever he wanted and nibbling on grass and clover. When I changed positions the teachers who took my place didn't care for the bunny. Bunny pee makes cat pee smell like roses! One of the families wanted him and since he wasn't being cared for by the staff.
There are some rabbits that do like to be carried and cuddled. My first mini lop, Scrunch, loved to be carried and cuddled. She was a therapy animal and would even ride in a baby snuggly carrier that I sewed the leg holes shut on. She would also jump from one person's arms to another (if it was to my mom, Scrunch usually didn't even wait until my mom was looking and just trusted that she would catch her). My second mini lop liked to be carried and cuddled but she usually just wanted to run around and explore. My palomino buck did not like to be held or carried, just pet.
Our dwarf bunny "Gary " is so loving, he's very affectionate and he will chase you down and stand there all day for a cheek rub😂 he's incredibly spoiled...
Such cutie lops! I've got a two-month Netherland dwarf named Sparkles and I love her so much. She's learnt to trust me and she's amazing. We have so much fun together
I had to make the hardest decision yesterday .my English lop. Damaged his back.im broken.after X ray he literally flew from the blanket to come to me and lick my face.what a beautiful underated pet .mine was intelligent, loving.vocal💕just that wrong twist or turn can paralyse your bun.so fragile they are.ive literally sobbed through this video💔🐰
I’d never had rabbits before either. But I had nine in a city apartment and adored them. They will follow you. To stop them from doing things I trained my rabbits by loud claps and saying no, but gradually showing them if they came to a spot near me they’d be cuddled right after the shout and clapping with being petted and picked up and loved. My rabbits would pull themselves together just before being picked up and wait in joy for that attention. Each rabbit was different, but none feared me or being picked up. I kept four to six at a time in their own cages left open so they could be together or separate as they wished. Any pet care is like being a parent for a first time, no matter how many books or research you do, the best learning you gain is simply by having them and loving them. There is one disease bunnies can get that kills them almost in less than 24 hours. Getting Bayatril (spelling may be wrong) to keep on hand that is prescribed by your vet for their size and weight. Use a deep cat litter tray with a grill over top they’ll learn that is a good place to use as their bathroom. I let my rabbits have a few litters of baby bunnies that I found good homes for and this seemed to help them trust me more over time. I also had a brother who owned a pet shop then who took some bunnies too for customers. You are correct, bunnies take a lot more effort to keep their space clean, but they are so loving and dear. Mine followed me around licking my bare toes till I picked them up cuddled them and took them to the kitchen for organic carrots with green tops still on. They adore dry oatmeal, it’s their chocolate over their pellet food. Apples are appealing treats too, citrus repels them from things you don’t want them to touch. Bunnybytes.com is a good website for rabbit food and toys besides your local supplier. I used them all the years I had my bunnies. Now I have birds in a room that have free flight in their room space. They have their windows and their own tall branched tree to land on. Birds are far more work than rabbits to keep their area clean and they need regular vet care. I have finches and parakeets now who have also gradually learned to trust me when I’m in their space writing daily for work. Enjoy your bunnies. I know you have many great days ahead with them.
Wow this video changed my mindset of getting a rabbit. I was begging my mum before watching this video for a rabbit, but not anymore since it's time-consuming and you have to be watching and taking care of this animal 24/7 in case it doesn't get ill or depressed.
Haha, that's not true! I did not say that. You definitely, definitely do not have to watch the animal 24/7. No one would own rabbits if that were the case.
I would be out and about searching for rabbits. I love rabbits to bits but my backyard is really small with no grass so idk what to do. And keeping a rabbit inside takes lots of responsibility since it's messy, but i could potty train it.. ugh i dont know
Oh, I see what you are saying, I think. Of they are contained in a proper shed or hutch, you would not have to supervise them, but yes, leaving them out in the open, outdoors would be potentially dangerous for them.
+Leila's Zoo but that's the thing i don't have the equipment. I'm nervous about the rabbit leaving a lot of mess and not having enough room will make it ill or scared from me. But isn't the outdoors good for your rabbit now and then since they need to exercise. Have you potty trained your rabbits?
I’m so lucky that my bunny loves to hang out with me on the couch and cuddle. We will be watching tv in the living room, he will be running around the room jump on the couch and ask for pets.
My minilop prefers books but I got him to type on the PC a little. He's slow but can show date and time via command line. How can I get him to play Battlefront? I haven't tried the clicker yet.
I'm pet sitting my daughter's class Lop, Butter. He's a buck. Very smart animal. He definitely knows how to communicate when he wants more snacks. He slams his little bowl against the floor. Even though I keep hay etc available for him 🙄For cleaning fur out of the carpet, get a shoe with a non skid sole and just run it across the carpet like you're brushing the carpet. Worked wonders for me since Butter sheds a hell of a lot.
When I was cleaning Nuggets (my bun) cage I was at the part where I fill his hay rack and my mom walked in and I said "I hate filling his hay, every time I fill it up I find a piece of hay where the hay hasn't been like over there! *points at the other side of his cage* Two seconds later when I put the hay back I look and right where I pointed there was a piece of hay. Lol.
Actually, none of those cons are actually cons. They're more like "if's". And IF you're allergic to hay, there are ways to deal with it. Wear gloves when handling it and wear a mask to avoid breathing hay dust. I mean, if that's a con, how much of a nightMARE must a horse be (no pun intended)? Bunnies habits of eating wires and all that is easily solved by properly preparing a Bunny-safe room and give them a proper diet. My Bun never eats anything he shouldn't. The Bunny I had before him (female) ate wires and very rarely the edge of a rug. I have yet to find an actual con about my Buns. Messy, yes. But dry messes that are solved in 30 seconds with a Dirt Devil. I love Bunnies so much, I like to make them happy by cleaning up after them. Only takes a half minute to scoop their wet bedding and replace it. Really really simple! It's funny that you said "you shouldn't yell at them" because the Bunny I have now is stone deaf. He's a Lop, just like your moustache Bunny. He doesn't scare at all, even on the 4th of July or New Years. Can't hear a thing. He LOVES to be held in my arms (you should be in a chair if holding a bun). More "pro's" are: 1) They don't make noise! No barking, etc. 2) You don't need to take them for a walk. They exercise themselves. 3) No walks means no cleaning up the sidewalk or neighbors lawn. 4) All they want is snuggles and a treat afterward and they're happy. 5) Their poop is DRY AND ODORLESS! Too many more Pro's to list here! There's only one "pro" you really should know, and that is that Bunnies are God's most perfect creation. For proof, hang out with one for 10 minutes. Also, pet their faces! They LOVE it! From their li'l lippies all the way back to the tips of the ears. They like to have firm face pettings! Most buns, anyway.
Very good points! I agree that the "No barking" one is a HUUUUGE plus. Whenever our family dog barks at the mail man I offhandedly say to my mom: "Bunnies don't do that." :D
+aaardvarkkk Both my rabbits hear well and one of them doesn't even give a crap about the vacuum, let alone 4th of July! We love the hay smell. But if my allergic friends come over I have to really get in all the corners with the dirt devil. The only con we have is that our two bunnies can't be in the same room together despite our best efforts, so we have a divided household and they both hate to be picked up. HATE WITH A VENGEANCE. Whenever I'm around dogs I think about how much I love our rabbits. Quiet, sweet, and adorable. So much personality and intelligence. Another pro - their poo makes PERFECT compost fertilizer! It's the best manure you can get. We use Good Mews litter so everything we clean out goes straight into the bin and/or to the list of people who love taking the manure off our hands. Vegan pets are also more environmentally friendly. :)
+aaardvarkkk I know I have a horrible allergy to dandelions but my rabbits love dandelions hidden in their hay like a Easter egg hunt game I'm usually left sneezing
Basically the main difference is the size, Holland lops are generally smaller and their head is shaped a little different but both are great options, also if you can, please adopt :)
Interesting vlog. BunBun, is extremely attached to me. I rescued her from the time she was a newborn and she's now 6 years young. She follows me everywhere and actually cries out when I don't pick her up to snuggle. She loves messages and nudges me for more as soon as I stop, hops under the covers with me, and falls asleep with her head resting under my chin! 🐰🐇
My rabbit hates vegetables, he doesn't eat hay and he hates hopping around in the grass. So he's a house rabbit. He also just tends to stay in a corner and groom himself .. He used to bi it around the house and follow me, but he's different now. I should've gotten him neutered. :/ I have a lion head rabbit. I'm planning on getting a mini lop. He's also not potty trained. When he was younger he only used the corner of the kitchen as his toilet, now he uses every part of the house. He also has dental problems so we have to take him to the vet every 4 weeks. Seeing this vid makes me one to get a lop one now! On the up side, my rabbit's never tried chewing on anything around the house. His only interest is laying around the house and grooming himself. T___T
I had the same kind of rabbit I potty trained him but he just would say the hell with potty training and just leave poo everywhere they have attitudes and are stubborn mine would thump back at me when I yell at him for being bad
Thank you for the video. I had a buck mini rex that lost his bonded buddy. He was so lonely and depressed that he was grooming ME a couple times a day ( he's a real Mamas hen) I felt so bad for him I went out and got a Holland Lop Buck baby for him. He immediately bonded with him and they have been the best of buddies for the last 3 years now so yes you can house bucks together. Mine NEVER fought, but I must say that I had them both fixed. I also have 2 french lops who are a bonded pair..
You forgot in the video they are nocturnal and loud as hell. Not a pet whose cage you want near your bedroom if you value your sleep for work or school. As much as I loved my precious little willow, I spent every night winging shoes at her cage and cussing when I was a teen. I couldn't move her cage as Mom and I lived in a tiny apartment. Luckily I leash trained her so she could exercise in the park.
Yenna My Willow was a Rex. I think I may have gotten really lucky with the Lionhead I got recently. As long as she has hay, water and her toy, she is pretty quiet at night. Unfortunately, she likes to pee on me :-I That's something Willow never did.
Rabbits aren't nocturnal, they are diurnal, most active early morning and late evening. Pet rabbits may be awake all the time though, depending how often you are home, and only take cat naps throughout the day and night.
I have three male Flemish Giant together in a large pen 😀. We keep ours outside and then put them in separate kennels for dinner/bedtime. They're super sweet and very cuddly...They love being petted and have learned to hop up the ramp to their kennels. I wasn't aware that they can learn tricks and have individual personalities. They're a lot of fun.
They're chewers. Mine chewed the lamps cords. Also a wicker chair... And they had a whole deck for themselves! But I loved when one of them "cleaned" my hair. Mine were not messy at all but they do need a lot of care. And yes, is not good to caress them much since it stresses them.
So you say bunnies are a lot of work but I'm wondering how hard it is to take care of a bunny compared to a dog or parakeet (I say that because I have a lot of experience with both). Somebody please answer soon I'm contemplating about getting a bunny to help my anxiety disorders. Thank you! BTW your bunnies are ADORBIES!!! 😊
Depends or what kind of dog you get or bird etc. Bunnies usually aren't a bad first pet, but just be cautioned that they are work. I LOVE the work as the soft cute lil face is enough for me! Love my white and gray Harlequin! Also keep in mind, I have a 5 pd yorkie and my dog is waaaaaay less distructive, messy and behaved vs our bunny... but bunnies don't require a lot of exercise. Just tlc with their owner and a place to eat/poop! :P Kinda up to you as there are pros and cons to every animal. But HEY, I'm a bunny and dog person. Get them both lol (Either is a great first pet). Also I have never owned a bird although from my friend, she says they can be noisy. Finches are a good first bird though as they aren't very loud and they aren't a huge commitment! Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for replying! I've actually had a bunny for almost two months now! She's a super cute baby Holland lop! Birds can definitely be very noisy but they also make super cute sounds! My bunny has done an excellent job of keeping me calm so you were on point with that! Thank you for taking time to reply I appreciate it!
I had a bunny that bonded with my cockatiel They adored each other. I had a bunny with a dog and cat. Some bunnies chew everything Some do not They are all unique in personality .
bunnies are extremely social animals and require HOURS of interaction every single day. if you cannot provide that for a bunny it is not a good idea because they can easily become depressed
Part 4 of 7 I kept four to six at a time in their own cages left open so they could be together or separate as they wished. Any pet care is like being a parent for a first time, no matter how many books or research you do, the best learning you gain is simply by having them and loving them. There is one disease bunnies can get that kills them almost in less than 24 hours. Getting Bayatril (spelling may be wrong) to keep on hand that is prescribed by your vet for their size and weight will save their life until they see a vet. Kids and pets often get sick in the night or on holidays, so preparation ahead is vital when you love them. The symptoms are varied, but just knowing each rabbit personality well and watching for their “sudden change” in personality in many cases to “more quiet and far less active” is a common beginning that can kill them in just hours. “No interest in favorite foods” is another sign.
My bunny is growing so quickly.. :( when she was a baby she used to sleep all day. Now she plays morning and night. I don't really mind that she keeps me up considering this is what i signed up for lol it's worth it. But a huge con is that she poops wayyy too much >_< but she's every thing💖 her name's cinnamon btw.
this video was aweosme! your rabbits are just adorable! I own a rabbit and his name is Bunz. he does she'd a lot like you said! they are beautiful creatures! I will use your advice, because my bunny is slightly terrified of me. thank you so much for the awesome video! keep up the good work!
Part 5 of 7 Use a deep cat litter tray with a grill over top they’ll learn that is a good place to use as their bathroom in two locations. I let my rabbits have a few litters of baby bunnies that I found good homes for and this seemed to help them trust me more over time. I had the males fixed to limit the breeding. I also had a younger brother who owned a pet shop at that time who took some bunnies too for his customers. You are correct, bunnies take a lot more effort to keep their space clean, but they are so loving and dear.
I had a English giant he was huge nearly 4ft long and the cons with this bunny was he outgrown his hutch but the pro's I killed him and put him in a casserole with carrots potatoes etc and I must say the best meal I've ever had the meat fell off the bone and did me 3 dinners
My bunny loves being cuddled and handled❤️ her name is Sammy🐰 she always licks me and it tickles soooo much she's licking my stomach right now and it tickles SOO much that I literally can't breathe 😂👌
There was a time i had 12 bunnies in a room ...we had only one room few months back...and we used to live with 12 bunnies...3big ones and all others were newly born kids...........now we only have 2 ...but these two are justttt tooo mischievous...i just love them....💋😘
I got in love with bunbuns recently, they cured me from a deep depression when i thought everything was going down to sh*t, loads of bad events in life, including a long time jobless period. My life is starting to get sorted now but i still cant afford to get one, my debt payment is consuming most of my wage, and so when i do i want it to be the happiest bun and doesnt miss anything :) Ill want a minilop too cuz i just find them so cute and adorable :3 I mean all bunbuns are adorable and cute but minilops just melts my heart :D
The #1 con of a bunny is urine odor. It is extremely strong! Left that part out. I would be upstairs and could smell urine as soon as our bunny began it was soooo strong. #2 is the chewing of base boards (you mentioned but it should be higher in list for ppl in nice homes). As for pooping they will go in a litter box with no problem. We didn't even train ours but he would go to litter box every time. He never urinated on our carpet though. Always in his cage or litter box. But the odor was horrible.
My bunny did about $2000 in damage so I had to get rid of him n I live n a threestory he tore up carpet stairs walls and cellphone cords my cable for my TV everything
@@shentellbaby9022 I sprayed vinegar and that helped a lot. They have to chew to keep their teeth from over growing and there are pumice looking stones you can buy for them to chew on but I didn't know that then.
@@LKJacks me either I still dream of my bunny every nite I wish I would have known that I went to the pet store and asked for everything but it didn't help my bunny was like I'ma do what I want
That’s funny...as if any animal urine smells pleasant? I would be very angry if my pet chewed my crown-molding baseboards in my house...sounds like the bunnies are eternal puppies for that matter. Lol
She maybe couldn’t remember the word herbivore or just wanted a simpler way to explain it? Don’t know why that is such a big deal, we all know what she meant.
I'm not a pro at bunnies, but anyone who has any questions/doubts, I can help you from personal/learned knowledge. I have two buns, a lionhead and a dutch, and love them both. They are show rabbits, and both have completely different personalities. Fun fact: Rabbits can be litterbox trained! One more thing: I got my dutch yesterday, so any questions about that particular breed can be answered, but might be a bit hard right now. I'd honestly suggest a dutch for anyone looking to get a rabbit, because most love affection and cuddles. They're also not too big, but not too small. I love mine so much
That's how it was for me until one for mine died.... now my parents are fine with my one bunny being in my room because she is very clean and my parents understand how isolated she would be if she were alone outside.
@@theodorable2442 I actually bond with my rabbits by taking them out and holding them. I think its good because they get used to your scent, your voice, and how you hold them.
Lol my bunny is bossy!! Your fur babies are adorable I've a lil special needs bunny here that had seizures that were trying to get help and advice for. If he goes to the vet he has a huge seizure! So treatment is difficult. Love to your cute lil floofys
Having been a parent myself, I’d pick a rabbit. With other parents though I don’t know for certain their reasons to offer a child a rabbit over a dog or cat as a first pet these might be their following reasons: rabbits are born immune to distemper and rabies. Bunnies are very gentle, not often biting and other then scratching with their paw nails. You can clip these with ordinary nail clippers- just be careful not to cut into the pink part that will bleed. Then your rabbit will always be calm. I put mine in a bath towel on their back to clip nails, kept it simple. A rabbit is very unlikely to hurt any child. This lack of potential harm to a child is a large reason for parents to offer a rabbit for a child’s first pet. Only a child eight or ten years old or a teen should have a pet of any kind to care for themselves. Buck rabbits will not get along ever, unless they are born as brothers and are never separated from each other. Even then they can attack their own brothers badly enough that a vet visit will be needed. If you’ve a very large space of a hundred feet or more the aggression of bucks is less. However female rabbits will almost always get along fine with a definite pecking order of whose the boss.
I guess it depends on where you live. I found having bunnies was not expensive at all. Mine stayed healthy so they had their yearly checks which ran around $100 yearly for two bunnies. They ate hay, pellets, and veggies which are very cheap to get around where I live. If I brushed them every day I did not have too many problems with shedding. I vacuumed every other day to keep messes to a manageable level. I kept my buns busy so they stayed away from wires, drapes, cords, and stuff like that. You gotta work at it but it’s worth it. I loved having bun buns in my world and one day I will be a bunny mommy again.
I own 2 bunnies, my dad thought our newest bunny was going to be normal, but... NOPE he's completely crazy! My bunnies are male and female, they're both neteured. Also, my first of the 2 I have is named Tinker and she's an English Spot. And my newest, Stu, (it was originally spelt Stew) is an English Spot and French Lop mix. Both of them are bonded and I love them!
Part 1of 7 I’d never had rabbits before either. But I had nine in a city apartment and adored them. They will follow you. To stop them from doing things I trained my rabbits by loud claps and saying no, but gradually showing them if they came to a spot near me they’d be cuddled right after the shout and clapping with being petted and picked up and loved.
Had a rabbit for 3 years. STILL not over how freaking cute they are.
You will never get over it
My rabbit 8 and i cant stop doing 👁️👄👁️ when i see her 🤣
I think puppies r cuter. Also rabbits look weird with their eyes on side of head. Thats not cute to me tbh. Theyre cute just bec they are small and are extremely submissive lol
12 years now, still strong bun
@@amp1984 um what ..? they are NOT submissive. some rabbits can be dominant towards their humans, and that depends on the rabbit and they are not "small". rabbits have bigger breeds and they can be as big as dogs. educate yourself first before commenting a stupid comment on a rabbit video. and why are you even talking about puppies on a RABBIT video?? if u dont like rabbits, then just go away and dont click on the video damn.
"If a bunny can't cheer you up, you must be pretty sad." Lol ❤ the video
I always wanted a pet,is a turtle better because I'm getting one
♡
She’s so rude not interested in her channel anymore
They can be litter box trained but they also poop like machine guns. They will also let loose if scared. Btw if you're a rabbit owner, don't buy cocoa puffs or Reese Puffs. You *will* regret it!!
Lord Krishna Stole My Heart oh god....
More like Nesquik cereal.
Lord Krishna Stole My Heart those cereals are much bigger than their waste..
I totally found a bunny poop in my bed and I thought it was cereal at first, but then I realized it was poop and threw it out. 😂 Not sure how it got there since he hasn't been on the bed all that often lol
Machine guns! LoL. Too true!!
poop should have been con#1 haha they poop sooo much my girl is 13 now and honestly doesn't have much longer but if anyone reading this is considering a bunny. they ARE NOT an impulse buy. this is a huge commitment. they poop alot they tend to chew up important things and they do tend to have some personal space requirements because of being prey but. they are WONDERFUL. this is my second bunny my first one was a boy he unfortunately had cancer that would not stay away. im 21 with my second bunny and i plan on having bunnies the rest of my life. the house just isnt the same without a bunnies binkies!
Caity Stepleton Poop is a gold mine. You sell it and make money. Gardeners are going googoo over rabbit poo!
I realise she'd be 15 now, but I'm really hoping she's still here
My bunny always loved cuddles.
I feel really bad for you
Our bun bun ate my house, furniture, speaker wires, base boards, bed foot and head board bottoms, dresser bottoms.
It's like they have no control but they are also potty trained so at least they don't pee all over.
this post is so heartwarming 😂
I love mine, but he is eating everything. Bed, door, carpet...
So ur bunnies names bun bun?
@@inkbold8511 I have mine litter trained to a pad and corner litter pans but they still pee on the floor in spots, unfortunately.
I have 4 bunnies for like 5 years and I can't NEVER get enough of how cute they are... Literally every time feels like the first time I'm seeing a bunny they are way to cute to get enough lol
Same. I thought my kids were cute when they were born, but the bunny is even cuter. :D
Kelly K.M. Carson
Thank you, I will keep that in mind. My parents got me a rabbit as my first pet without doing research.....wish they did.
we took our bunny to the vet and asked about shots and they said no shots cause bunnies do not need them and they only need to be seen once a year.
Kelly K.M. Carson hi thank you for the info. Listening to the lady in the video I was a little scared but your information made it easier for me to make a choice now I want a bunny. Thanks so much! 😘😘😘
They are not inexpensive because of being vegetarian.vegtables are not cheap.i have three and if you feed them properly your spending a lot on food
Kelly K.M. Carson Not every rabbit wants to be picked up however.
I love when they chatter their teeth (some call it purring) while enjoying nose pets!
I love that too! My bunny, Lubby, made the purr chatter when I put my face by his cheek or played with his ears. His mate, Lissy purred in response to nose pets.
I just got my first bunny and I'm so impressed by how much they poop
They poop around 100 - 200 times a day
Yeah... If it's a problem, you can always litterbox train them! Its a easy process, and even our stubborn bunny was trained in a small amount of time.
Your voice is soothing i had three rabbits, in the past a silver fox, a mini lop, and a jersey wooly!
Brilliant video! I have a little 11 week Mini Lop buck named Benjamin and he is such a fantastic companion! I've had him since 8 weeks and I have zero regrets getting a bunny as a pet :) Definitely lots to consider before buying/adopting though!
Rabbits aren't vegans or vegetarians. They are herbivores.
Gotthe lights 86 same thing as vegan
s p a c e d no, it's not. Not at all.
Gotthe lights 86 I was just about to say the same thing.
My bunny got in the fridge and ate meat we were planning to cook that day. He will eat raw meat if you not becareful. but maybe because he was little and didn't know anything idk, but he did eat raw meat.
@@raksmi1903 that's too funny!
I just got a 6-7 week old holland lop today. She is the sweetest thing! She actually loves being carried and cuddled, she just loves people.
You forgot...."Bunnies are bossy."
COMPLETELY BOSSY!!!!! OMG!
Yes!!! Oh my goodness, I have a lionhead and she is CRAZY, she will not let you touch her a lot.
SwirlyCat555 let me guess, under a year old??
Cleaning their room is always a "Bunny vs
Dustpan".
My bunny made this tool his sworn enemy, because this thing is messing up his....mess :D
ohhh yeah I don’t think I own a bunny I think I’m owned by a bunny😂
my wife likes bunnies n after seeing this, it makes me glad I'm a cat person cause she dreams of having one as a pet. only time I'll put in effort & care for a 🐰 is when its with a side of biscuits & gravy
I have 2 bucks from the same litter and they are fine together (they are 7 months old) but I am still getting them neutered when I save up as it will make there life longer and better
Cool!
3:46 : "Hay is a giant con." Let me rephrase that: "Hay is a SATANIC CREATION!"
Leila's Zoo I'm allergic to hay :( but I don't care, I love my bunny!
Laura94tc Me too! And it's funny because I love the smell of hay, yet I'm allergic to it. :/
Thank you
+Leila's Zoo I'm allergic too, and I have two degus and they eat hay but I don't care, they are cute and that is all what counts
I keep my bunnies on fleece, and MAN that hay gets EVERYWHERE
Very sweet video. I have had several rabbits which have lived an average of 8-10 yrs. Once you have one you become addicted to their extreme adorableness. Your experience sounds like mine ( walls, wood, cords etc. chewed on) and in the house hay, cardboard boxes and stray poop balls LOL! The best thing about bunnies is that EVERY thing they do is so darn cute!
Thank you for a great video. Your rabbits are adorable.
My first Rabbit was named Bonnie! Ugh how I adore her hehehe
sarahtellez66 That's awesome! There's another bunny at the shelter I volunteer at named Bonnie too. It seems like the perfect bunny name: Bonnie the bunny! It rolls off the tongue well
Leila's Zoo Haha that's too funny, I named my bunny Bon-Bon. Pretty much just a variant of the same name :)
u sure she wasn't an animatronic?
saruh lol funny. My first rabbit was 3years old i took him off a women who had a dog and didnt get alone they also didnt vaccinate him or nurture him. So i took her off him and now he his living happily with a new bunny friend i got for him
From a breeder let me tell you this i was looking for a female he owner told us it was a female as we took her she was 8weeks old
We named her bonnie XD
AS SOON TO DISCOVER bonnie is not a girl 😑🤦🏻♀️
We decided not to change her/his name lol as he knows it very well
We called the breeder to let him know what happend he offerd he can exchange the bunny for us.
After a week , but i got to love him too much to swap him
Now still get confused and think of him as a girl 😂😂😂😂😂😂 we made this joke with my husband that bonnie is a transgender bunny 🐰 loool
Great vid! You did a big favor to anyone thinking about a rabbit!
you have the cutest bunnies omg
Cianna Lynn I warned ya! ;)
Kelly Monck Yes! They are all very different in their personalities! Thanks for mentioning that :)
Very good advice. My Daughter and I both have a rabbit. True. Not easy and expensive. But they’re a joy
I have four bunnies and let’s just say rip to about one hundred pairs of headphones
Hayhay It'statsu same.. RIP to my 3 apple charges and 2pair of earfone😭
So true!!!
Same thing with owning a parrot😂
and charger cords 😪
Our dwarf bunny "Gary " is so loving, he's very affectionate and he will chase you down and stand there all day for a cheek rub😂 he's incredibly spoiled...
That bunny obviously loves you and your attention
Such cutie lops! I've got a two-month Netherland dwarf named Sparkles and I love her so much. She's learnt to trust me and she's amazing. We have so much fun together
I have two bucks housed together and they absolutely love each other.
+Belle Stane Great to hear! :)
might be gays, LOL
I had to make the hardest decision yesterday .my English lop. Damaged his back.im broken.after X ray he literally flew from the blanket to come to me and lick my face.what a beautiful underated pet .mine was intelligent, loving.vocal💕just that wrong twist or turn can paralyse your bun.so fragile they are.ive literally sobbed through this video💔🐰
Hey what happened to your bunny? Is she ok now?
" if you're allergic to Hay literally rest in peace I'm so sorry .." 😂😂😂
I know you have many great days ahead with them.
the part about you'll eat healthier after having all these veggies in your fridge, omg that makes so much sense. I need to eat better
Have you potty trained your rabbits?
oh the cuteness overload!!! ^_^
Drunken Master lmao
How much does your rabbit weigh?
Drunken Master my bunny knows a trick were he trys to be a bookshelf.
You forgot to mention they thump their foot when they get upset😁
When I was cleaning Nuggets (my bun) cage I was at the part where I fill his hay rack and my mom walked in and I said
"I hate filling his hay, every time I fill it up I find a piece of hay where the hay hasn't been like over there! *points at the other side of his cage*
Two seconds later when I put the hay back I look and right where I pointed there was a piece of hay. Lol.
They are of which breed...adorable
+aaardvarkkk Ya I am allergic to hay and I get it all over me but I survive!
+Leila's Zoo I have a mini lop! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 his name is Benny. He loves chicory and kale.
+aaardvarkkk I know I have a horrible allergy to dandelions but my rabbits love dandelions hidden in their hay like a Easter egg hunt game I'm usually left sneezing
This is entirely 100% accurate, I can confirm all of this! Excellent video, thank you!
I do not know which bunny to get holland lop or a mini lop.
Peyton not trying to act dumb but what is the difference to me they look the same is it just the size?
BananasLoveYou They are different breeds. www.arba.net/breeds.htm
Basically the main difference is the size, Holland lops are generally smaller and their head is shaped a little different but both are great options, also if you can, please adopt :)
Peyton Mini lop. They take less space and eat less!
+Aj Felipe Bruel 80% of a rabbit diet should be hay. That might be causing the dental problems.
I had the same kind of rabbit I potty trained him but he just would say the hell with potty training and just leave poo everywhere they have attitudes and are stubborn mine would thump back at me when I yell at him for being bad
Your bunnies are sooo nice! They're cute hand so polite & pretty!
cons: what cons? there are no cons to bunnies
I hate cleaning out. That's the only con, I would say. But the cuteness and the soft fluffy cuddles, make it all worth it. :)
not really my bunnies are great for stress and i love watching them play
Poop.
Their poo is the best organic garden fertilizer out there! HUGE plus!
@@GirladyLocks that's about the only plus I see for all the 💩 poop they produce
+Lord Krishna Stole My Heart exactly the same problem i had when i had a lionhead rabbit.
They're actually crepuscular
Ya, I used the wrong word to describe their period of activity. Thanks for the correction.
They're a lot of fun.
the #1 con:
POOP!! literally i sweep it all up and come back 30 minutes later and it’s all there again!!!
Same!!!!!!
SAME XD
On a side note. Bunnies are sooooooo calming if you want one for calming purposes!
Some bunnies chew everything
Some do not
They are all unique in personality
.
bunnies are extremely social animals and require HOURS of interaction every single day. if you cannot provide that for a bunny it is not a good idea because they can easily become depressed
Part 4 of 7
I kept four to six at a time in their own cages left open so they could be together or separate as they wished. Any pet care is like being a parent for a first time, no matter how many books or research you do, the best learning you gain is simply by having them and loving them.
There is one disease bunnies can get that kills them almost in less than 24 hours.
Mrs. Vercetti cute name for a bunny! Have any videos?
this video was aweosme! your rabbits are just adorable! I own a rabbit and his name is Bunz. he does she'd a lot like you said! they are beautiful creatures! I will use your advice, because my bunny is slightly terrified of me. thank you so much for the awesome video! keep up the good work!
haha thanks! :)

Nice rabbits. Nice video.
Super Maus Thanks and thanks! :)
Part 5 of 7
Use a deep cat litter tray with a grill over top they’ll learn that is a good place to use as their bathroom in two locations. I let my rabbits have a few litters of baby bunnies that I found good homes for and this seemed to help them trust me more over time. I had the males fixed to limit the breeding.
I also had a younger brother who owned a pet shop at that time who took some bunnies too for his customers. You are correct, bunnies take a lot more effort to keep their space clean, but they are so loving and dear.
literally rest in peace LOOOL
+Nakedshimmy :-)
My bunny LOVED being held & cuddled. He trusted me and my sister, and loved watching TV with us
Pros : adorable, cuddly, soft, CUTE !! Lovely, sweet , funny .
Cons : poops a lot.
I had a English giant he was huge nearly 4ft long and the cons with this bunny was he outgrown his hutch but the pro's I killed him and put him in a casserole with carrots potatoes etc and I must say the best meal I've ever had the meat fell off the bone and did me 3 dinners
Con- unintelligent
My bunny loves being cuddled and handled❤️ her name is Sammy🐰 she always licks me and it tickles soooo much she's licking my stomach right now and it tickles SOO much that I literally can't breathe 😂👌
Is she still licking you now???
Maxwell Emmanuel lmao
Awwwwe!
There was a time i had 12 bunnies in a room ...we had only one room few months back...and we used to live with 12 bunnies...3big ones and all others were newly born kids...........now we only have 2 ...but these two are justttt tooo mischievous...i just love them....💋😘
dose bunbuns are so sweet!
I got in love with bunbuns recently, they cured me from a deep depression when i thought everything was going down to sh*t, loads of bad events in life, including a long time jobless period.
My life is starting to get sorted now but i still cant afford to get one, my debt payment is consuming most of my wage, and so when i do i want it to be the happiest bun and doesnt miss anything :)
Ill want a minilop too cuz i just find them so cute and adorable :3 I mean all bunbuns are adorable and cute but minilops just melts my heart :D
Mini Lops are honestly one of my fav breeds XD
I love them all, but their dewlap is just so cute!
For now, I guess I'll sick with my rats.
+megagrey Rats are great pets too! But their short life spans... sad.
megagrey same....
I have a 3 month old one. Love it to bits!!!
bro U ARE RIGHT 5:29 o,o my rabbit chewed HALF of my purple carpet in my room ):c
Lol oh my god! My bunnies were never that bad! 0_0
Lol
Rabbits are not vegan or vegetarian. Those are choices. Rabbits are herbivores.
Mine would like potato chips and hamburgers Everytime I opened a bag of chips he would try to get in the bag and eat all of the chips
She maybe couldn’t remember the word herbivore or just wanted a simpler way to explain it? Don’t know why that is such a big deal, we all know what she meant.
Kinda the same thing tbh 🤷🏽♂️
THIS IS MY FAVORITE VIDEO ON TH-cam... how compelling!
"They're so cute you'll just wanna eat them up with a spoon"
*starts thinking of the fact that people ate rabbits*
I'm not a pro at bunnies, but anyone who has any questions/doubts, I can help you from personal/learned knowledge. I have two buns, a lionhead and a dutch, and love them both. They are show rabbits, and both have completely different personalities.
Fun fact: Rabbits can be litterbox trained!
One more thing: I got my dutch yesterday, so any questions about that particular breed can be answered, but might be a bit hard right now. I'd honestly suggest a dutch for anyone looking to get a rabbit, because most love affection and cuddles. They're also not too big, but not too small. I love mine so much
my bunnies are kept out doors my dad won't let me put them in my room
That's how it was for me until one for mine died.... now my parents are fine with my one bunny being in my room because she is very clean and my parents understand how isolated she would be if she were alone outside.
That is risky! I had a bunny living in my garden and an eagle or something else killed it in the night.
put it in a cage moron. why are folks so stupid ? Rabbit is prey for many birds and animals
jesus this was 2 years ago why even reply =O
thanks! my daughter loves our bunny -Cuddles & she loves your videos!
watching this now 3 hours after my rabbit died. I miss my baby... 😢
Paula T Aww so sorry for your loss! Hope that everything gets better ❤️
It's hard.we love our rabbits
Not all bunnies enjoyed to be picked up, but some do, just like some love to be cuddled with.
No picking up?
Nevermind, I'll choose a different pet. 😭
They will let you pick them up after they have been with you for about a year (sometimes months or even weeks!)
Actually, you can pick up and hold your rabbits, just know how to do it correctly.
MINI LOPS!!!!!!
Kelly Monck They're great aren't they! ;)
I have two non fixed buck jersey woolys and they get along perfectly fine
Chubby bunny
Pro: They are self-cleaning like cats!
I have 2 bucks. They have to be put in different places.Yes.Mine have to be cleaned daily.Thank you for sharing.
I actually got my rabbit to encourage me to eat healthier xD
109367 Hehe. Did it work?
Leila's Zoo It did actually! :)
That's great! :)
+109367 Help get two puppy's home for Christmas by going to my channel and sharing my videos so they can get home safe
And how is rabbit meat?
I guess it depends on where you live. I found having bunnies was not expensive at all. Mine stayed healthy so they had their yearly checks which ran around $100 yearly for two bunnies. They ate hay, pellets, and veggies which are very cheap to get around where I live. If I brushed them every day I did not have too many problems with shedding. I vacuumed every other day to keep messes to a manageable level. I kept my buns busy so they stayed away from wires, drapes, cords, and stuff like that. You gotta work at it but it’s worth it. I loved having bun buns in my world and one day I will be a bunny mommy again.
my rabbit likes to eat walls
Yuuuuuuuuup ;)
+Dianne Smyth Lots of hay always available goes a really long way toward destructive chewing. Also some good sticks, and pet-safe wicker toys.
My rabbit was $20 off of Kijiji
Rhyanna Cochrane mine was $1. Is a male bunny and cage and food was included. Its been a year and he still alive and healthy👌👌
And by the way i bought it from kijiji too
Cute video and rabbits!
I can totally understand the messy part, Addie and Sir Cookie constantly kick bedding and hay out of their cages.
THERE ARE NO CONS OF A BUNNY
POOOOOOOOP POOP EVERYWHERE!!
+Bella L haha
They are my favourite animal in the world but they cost a lot at the vet every time they need to go there!
i’ve had my bunny for 5 months and i still fangirl over her lmaooo
Part 1of 7
I’d never had rabbits before either. But I had nine in a city apartment and adored them. They will follow you. To stop them from doing things I trained my rabbits by loud claps and saying no, but gradually showing them if they came to a spot near me they’d be cuddled right after the shout and clapping with being petted and picked up and loved.
