Was with my Granddad and my Dad at this game. Both of them have passed away now, but I use this to remember them 🏴
Sorry for your losses
Tom Cheers mate. There’s no community like the welsh rugby community. It’s always comforting to know that we look out for each other.
Daniel Jones yeah of course we will always have each others backs, it’s the nature of rugby itself
Daniel Jones love from the welsh. Sorry for the welsh
💯💯💯🏴🏴🏴🏴
If you’re welsh, it’s tradition to come back to this video once in a while 😂🏴
I am not Welsh ( Kiwi) but every few months I come here for a good dose of goosebumps. :)
Yeah i can agree on that one 😂
I'm not Welsh but i come here because it has the same tune as our patriotic song " Ri Khasi" which was written by a Welshman missionary in the 19th century. He translated this Welsh song into Khasi language n till today we sing it😉
I’m English and enjoy it every now and then. Brilliant people
5 times a day for me 🥲
Fuck me, I'm English but this is the greatest national anthem in the world. I've spent a lot of my 49 years in Wales and this - particularly sung by a mass crowd - makes me cry every time. Cymru am byth.
The Welsh are just too good at synchronised singing, it's so harmonic.. by far one of the best people's on Earth.
When a team, the stadium public and an entire people sing together like that, with so much enthusiasm and such power, that team cannot lose.
Long live to Wales.
A French rugby fan.
you don't beat Wales at rugby, but you may score more points than them...
I swear every Wales is just one huge choir.
The second line is literally “land of poets and singers”
And warriors 👀
@@alynwillams4297 where no English can never take the Welsh away from their homeland...
We even sing when we talk 🥰
Three Welsh men together, you have a choir.😊🏴
My uncle died the morning of this match at 46 without warning a true Welshman and rugby mad I like to think as my fellow countrymen sung that morning their voices carried my uncles soul to the gates of heaven ❤️ 🏴
I’m sure it did. I’m English but oh boy I just get so emotional whenever I hear this.
May he rest in peace...
Goosebumps... perfect harmony, extraordinary passion, a very rousing anthem
Love from Scotland 🏴🏴

I'm American and watch this probably 3-4 times a month.
They are harmonizing like angels for chris' sake.
Welsh have been famous for their singing and choirs since ancient times, great to have them as part of the British isles.
Mate, it’s who we are. No magic. No voodoo. Just a love of country, pride and passion.
I’ve been gone from cymru for close to 40 years yet the fire still burns. It’s just who we are .........

Chris'?
Singing is a BIG part of education in Welsh schools. Anyone who went to school in Wales will know the word 'Eisteddfod' means many afternoons in the school hall singing in front of an hilariously angry headmaster and a plinky-plonk piano.
To be born Welsh is to be privileged. Not with a silver spoon in your mouth, but music in your blood and poetry in your soul.
And a pretty mean sidestep!
Making me shed a tear, this thread! Time is ticking on all of us...enjoy what we have.
@@ashleyjudecollie why do you say that?

never a truer word I don't want a religious service when I go .I Iive in England and love it. But I do not want English vinegary voices murdering Welsh chapel hymns

As an Englishman I was in my first year at uni during this game, it was my very first experience of been in a bar full of welsh fans during this national anthem. All I can say it was absolutely spine tingling, even as an Englishmen it gives me goosebumps. Don’t think there’s a better anthem in my opinion.
🏴🏴🇬🇧
Same here. Although I was out in the middle of the country, watching in a pub. A very moving experience.
Independence is coming! 🏴
@@alynwillams4297 dont say that

This is possibly the greatest rendition of any national anthem I have ever heard. Spine tingling and I'm not even welsh
Agree.
I've just discovered this national anthem. Tears come down from my eyes. Best regards from Catalonia.
And in Wales we love Catalonia!
Love and respect to Catalonia from Ireland. We are all one
I was at the solidarity with Catalonia rally in Cardiff Wales just after the vote. One day you will be free.

Most beautiful anthem in the history of humanity. Much love to the Welsh people, from an argentine from Trelew, Y Wladfa.
In Wales you are not forgotten...
As an Englishman, I would pay 10 times the entrance fee just to listen to this. So proud of our Welsh neighbours. Dduw bendithia chi.

It's absolutely magnificent, isn't it?
Champion.
I’m an Englishman but nothing even comes close to this as an anthem. Goosebumps every time
Am blown away. Am not Welsh btw but this is hands down magnificent. I have always thought that the Welsh anthem is the finest in the world and this rendition, the first time I ever heard the anthem or even knew that Wales has an anthem, is the best. I actually feel an upwelling of emotion for a country that is not even my own.
We thank you for that.
+embe1 we thank you. Cymru am byth
I feel the same way. The Welsh National Anthem is magnificant indeed. It's the only national anthem (apart from the Dutch anthem) i stand up for in front of the television. And they're my favourite rugby team, ofcourse!
The Anthem in Cardiff - the greatest sound in international sport with no equal anywhere ...
It's from a long.time ago, but I just wanted to say: I was in Cardiff for this match, and what people don't see in this video or maybe know, is that every Welsh person in every pub in Cardiff watching this match was also singing their lungs out. I went outside to hear it, and could hear the whole city in song.
No sound like it on earth only in heaven
The French come second....more Celtic emotion forged in iron....
@@binkyboobosh1 I was at the 2008 Grand Slam winning game against France with my late Dad, lots of French in that day and the Marseillaise was sung loud & proud, when it finished a Welsh voice somewhere behind us shouted “We can do better than that lads!” and we did, I’d never heard it sung so loud in my life. I don’t anyone had any voice left the next day, I definitely didn’t. The 2013 game was the only time I’ve heard sung louder fwiw.
I'm South African and often return to this video. The most beautiful National Anthem in the world. I can listen to it again and again!
There’s an amazing video of the South African national anthem.. yours is amazing too…
Imagine having to play this lot at Cardiff after hearing this...makes the haka seem like a disco dance
I have scrolled through 100's of comments under this video and it's apparent that people from all over the globe unanimously agree that this anthem is indeed the best anthem in the world 🏴
It is indeed and I say that as a fiercely proud Englishman
I'll never get tired of watching this video. What a national anthem. Love from Brasil, Cymru bros! 🏴🇧🇷

This is probably the 100th time I listen to this anthem. I love i5 so freaking much, even though i understand nothing. Much love to Wales, from South Africa.
Love to you in South Africa. Congratulations on your world cup win...again.
1. This land of my fathers is dear to me
Land of poets and singers, and people of stature
Her brave warriors, fine patriots
Shed their blood for freedom
Chorus:
Land! Land! I am true to my land!
As long as the sea serves as a wall
For this pure, dear land
May the language endure for ever.
2. Old land of the mountains, paradise of the poets,
Every valley, every cliff a beauty guards;
Through love of my country, enchanting voices will be
Her streams and rivers to me.
3. Though the enemy have trampled my country underfoot,
The old language of the Welsh knows no retreat,
The spirit is not hindered by the treacherous hand
Nor silenced the sweet harp of my land.
From an Englishman I can confidently say this is the best national anthem there is
I'm a Scot and I agree! :)
And we have the best flag😉
Absolute respect from Brazil.
I can't stop listening to this.
A choir of 80 thousand singing to perfection. Life changing.

I'm Welsh, I come back to this video often... I try & avoid the one where Shane Williams plays his last international, mostly because I can't watch it without crying...
They say we're not a proper country... this is my answer...
Fucking love The Welsh. So much respect from Ireland and I look forward to drinking with the Welsh fans next year. Great people
I look forward to getting lost on O'Connell St before the game - as I try to pay homage to Tyrone's Dublin man, Flann O'Brien. I hope I'm able to remember the game and get back home. There's a 1st time for everything.
My wife and our two friends were in Dublin when Wales beat England. Loved the Irish, they remind me so much of us Welsh, such lovely people and they were right behind us when we played. Temple bar and the Guinness was awesome too lol
Velcro you are one Irish person who respects I know it’s a bit late but happy St. Patrick’s day mate! We love you~ from wales
It's just a strip of water that prevents the Welsh and the Irish from being joined at the hip. I've worked with many Irishmen, and loved them all.
I’m English and my wife is Welsh. We were at this game and I have never heard anything sung with such passion. So much riding on this game and we (England ) were beaten before a ball had been kicked.
Wales, you’re bloody beautiful and your anthem is a whole different thing - respect from an Englishman

Diolch yn fawr!
Diolch. Thank you :)
Not many know that "Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau" was the first ever national anthem to be played at ANY sporting event.
It happened in 1905 when the New Zealand All Blacks, the best of the Southern Hemisphere played Wales, the triple crown winners and best of the Northern Hemisphere at Cardiff. It was the first time the Haka was done in Wales.
In response Teddy Morgan started singing the Welsh national anthem in spontaneous defiance. The huge crowd picked it up.
The All Blacks said it was mesmerising.
As a result of this one incident national anthems are now routinely played at sporting events.
As an Englishman if this doesn't inspire the Welsh nothing will. Scares me to death!
Thank you. stay strong sending strength and courage to you and your loved ones we welcome everyone not matter who they are. The anthem is not to scare anyone but gives us Welsh. Hope. passion. Courage. And mostly importantly healing.
I'm not Welsh, but listening to this every time Wales play, me n the wife turn it right up and finish in tears. There is nothing more uplifting than this song, sung altogether in a stadium to celebrate the beautiful country and people
thank god its not only me that it brings to tears
im english, but i understand completely... this gives me chills down my spine and almost makes me wish i could just be welsh for a week... i wish england in general had this much passion :) although my last name is jones so maybe it is something deep inside me that is connecting with the song, who knows? :)
I’m so proud to be welsh and speak welsh the fact that our anthem can make you cry makes me so happy :)

6 years later.
16th March 2019.... Wales v Ireland at the Principality Stadium (Wales home stadium), with Wales unbeaten and looking to complete the Grand Slam.
It's going to be pretty mental.
Just like Ireland was going to beat England 🤔
Kyle Griffiths and how England were suppose to beat wales, bring it on!!!
Come on Wales we can do it btw alun wyn Jones is my cosin
And Wales did it.
Fuck me. There's not a Welsh bone in my body but the atmosphere and the passion of this anthem is inescapable. Mad respect to the Welsh. Keep that Celtic bard tradition alive.
For a whole staium of people to harmoniously change tune for "Pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad" is astonishing! We are a nation of singers!
The togetherness in the singing is just unbelievable for a crowd that size. Everyone is breathing together. No one is rushing. The words are crisp and clear. The tone is full and ringing. Beautiful, spontaneous music. Cymru am byth
My favorite anthem ever. I come back to this on a bi-weekly basis. I'm not even Welsh lol.

They even managed a harmony. A stadium managed a harmony. Outstanding
Cause it was the Welsh that were singing. It's in our blood

Hi Massimo, The world knows that Italians are passionate, beautiful, meliflous, singers (and people), and there is a saying in my Country 'Cymru' that, "Welsh Men (and Ladies) are 'Italians in the Rain'". Many of your ancestors walked from Bardi to South Wales to work in the coal mines and later to set up successful Cafes and other businesses, they integrated wonderfully with the native Welsh, Y Cymry. The "Welsh Italians' are much loved and highly respected in Wales, since I believe our peoples have the same values and roots.

Having now done so, I understand a little more the great love the Welsh have for their native land and its history.
