I cleaned mine twice with no improvement. But on the third time took off the float and watched it sink. Very easy to replace, and now runs great. Simple engines once you have a few goes at them
Good job. This is one of the very few videos that clearly show you MUST install the two packing washers inside the low speed needle passageway. Then install the low speed needle, (and seat lightly then undo 1.5 turns), then tighten the gland nut just enough to keep the needle from self loosening, but not so tight you can’t adjust it with the plastic knob while fishing. Almost every video forgets the two packing washers, and/or tightens the gland nut hard, then inserts the low speed needle, which is an epic fail.
I have a Johnson 6hp 1969, I'm already desperate, I have spark in both spark plugs, it has a new gasoline pump working, I rebuilt the carburetor and it still doesn't turn on, it only stays on with the choke activated, I'm getting discouraged.
thanks for video, I suspected the pulse pump,,,put a new one,,,,new fuel inlet and outlet hoses, 2 crankshaft seals...everything hoses hard,,,works for 3 sec....turns off...again manually I pump it up...hard...runs for 3 seconds...carburetor repaired. intake...etc...ultrasound of the bowl...if it works...I remove the supply hose to the carburetor...no fuel...no pulse.........
Use vacuum / pressure gauge to check did the fuel pump get vacuum. When you prime the engine and start it should run for at least 1-2 minutes even the fuel pump is not running.
