These coils from points ignition have more resistance in secondary coil something more than 7.5k ohms The cdi ones secondary is 200~400 ohms So with the original points coils on cdi u will have really more stronge ignition spark arc
Hello, do you know what the size of the carburator is in mm? I now have the same engine but then the 5 horse I’ve already deristricted the inlet manifold tot 20mm but just figured I could ask you if you know that There’s even any difference in the 2 carburetors

Great video! This channel is great!! Quick question and help?? Hey team We have a 1977 Johnson 9.9. We loose power/engine speed under load. When running via the ear muffs we get high revs, but when in the water we get no decent boat speed and less revs. We have brand new fuel lines, fuel pump replacement kit installed, strong spark, new spark plugs, holds pressure at 105 in each spark plug, carby has been been repaired, float looks good and all clean. Previous owner has added an extra rubber ‘ring’ to the roller on the cam follower - which make the throttle open before it gets to the marker on the throttle control cam. Could this interrupt the ignition timing enough to cause loss of power under load? We are using premium (98) gasoline with 50:1 ratio to oil TCW3. Should we use something lower like 91? Also the tank we are running has a small amount of 2stroke engine cleaner, could that be it? (Going to try fresh petrol this weekend with out cleaner). Could we have missed anything with the carb? Should we remove and replace the top plug and air bleed nozzle - even if they look fine? What other air tests can we perform on the carbie to make sure it’s 100% Thanks in advance for any advice!! You can do a test without the engine hood.If the engine increases the power you may have to modify the hood
We have followed your advice and put holes in the hood, and we run the motor without the hood. Could the spark or carb butterfly impact?

Thanks for your video. I have a 9.9 which has no airbox or carburettor. Would you think that a used 6hp carb would work on the 9.9 ? I have a 15hp carb also which I could use. Thanks for any ideas.
The 6HP will not provide enough air fuel mixture . You can install 15HP for better performance

i can't even get mine to fire at all. it sat for like nine years. I tried to start it in 2017 and failed, and just tried again. I suppose the carburetor is all gummed up or something terrible. I'm broke for the first time in 15 years so I'd really like to get this POS working because I certainly can't buy a better motor

It made no sense that Bombardier did draw from their vast pool of 2 stroke sea doo and snowmobile engines for use in the outboard, they had world leading 2 stroke tech already.

Do you have to counterclockwise cord reel and then use clamps like in this video to secure then slip new cord into cord holder obviously with knot and pull through cover, put knot into cord grip. And the cord holder should retract in a clockwise motion filling cord holder.

It all depends from the shop. Prices are from $100 to $250 per hour. All of this is 4 hours job.

These motors are really well made and will last of taken care of. Almost all of the maintenance parts are available. There really is no reason to buy a very expensive newer motor, unless where you use them 2-cycle are not allowed.
Anyone have a link to where I can get a high performance centrifugal clutch for my Zongshien 125. The factory one slips too much and it's bottle-necking the atv's performance. The engine has plenty of power but the clutch slips when I accelerate uphills. I need a fix. I already adjusted it as good as I could get it, and it's better but still slips. I've only had it 2 months. I weight 220.

i got a question.i have a zongshen 250cc with 1 reverse gear and 4 forward gears but is is realy lacking gears. driving around 80 km/h is with realy high rpm and uncomfortable so i want to change the gears to a 6 speed. would that be posible? are the gears from different blocks interchangable?
