Thank you for uploading this. Memories of a wonderful evening with the great pleasure of hearing this superb young man. Bravo Jonas. Nurture that wonderful voice.
Simply sublime ! I was there and it was a great concert - you get a hint of the audience enthusiasm at the end ! Jonas has no equal as far as I'm concerned, among current tenors.
So stunning,so glorious to listen to this beautiful and gorgeous voice, incomparable,I will never stop listening to his arias, such a beautiful man to boot 3:23
Thank you for uploading again. Great reminder of the night. Can't imagine why you had to take this down while the other clip still remains, ridiculous and a bit silly on the orchestra's part. He was superb and a pleasure to see again. x
Oh my God, that transition into the head voice -- is there anything he can't do? Who is his teacher, who managed to get this superb voice out of that gorgeous creature?
I asuume the hollow sound quality is as aspect of the hall, but I find the orchestra too loud. I adore Jonas Kaufmann, so I very much prefer to hear the orchesta subordinated to the singer -- that is to acompany him, not to compete with him. But thank you, Glenn, for uploading this beatiful rendition. I also adore Verdi, so it's a lovely partnership.
Gente fanatica aqui...
I have sung it too, and at other times played violin in the orchestral accompaniment. Get the music and follow it. Listen carefully. The orchestra gives no pulse for the first two quarter notes. The Cellos play on beat one, followed by 3 sixteenth notes in the upper strings. The orchestra tries to play these three 16th notes at half speed, the cellos catch up a bit by the second quarter note of the bar, but the damage has already been done. Yes Kaufmann comes in late but only because the orchestra offered him no discernible rhythm in the first bar. This is the curse of youtube; one small mistake, but it's there for ever, for everyone to pick at, including you and me! Nonetheless he is a wonderful singer.
+Tenorgeiger It was an encore at the concert and the best piece of the night. And the conductor Kaufmann takes with him to these concerts is not a particularly good one.
That's normal technique Sir because that's the same way Caruso more or less sang. A true dramatic tenor ALWAYS has baritone tembre. The rest is just a matter of taste.
Caruso had a hint of darker timbre in his voice, though sometimes hard to tell in older recordings. Domingo had it more so than Pavarotti or Carreras, which made his Otello so dynamic. I feel like many tenors out there who are singing with this warmer sound simply have amazing access and range from their cover, rather than singers such as Vickers or Botha, who simply had booming voices. Nothing against the singers who mastered this type of color in their voice. I'm still gaining access to unfamiliar timbres and colors in my own studies; my point is simply that Kaufmann's voice is just so unusual for a tenor.
the Orchestra did not understand the Conductor and was not together with him at the beginning - and the tempo is tragically and stupidly soooo slowwww. that's a big shame in this level of concert. since the orchestra was not all playing the first notes - jonas missed the entrance
I'm personally just enjoying the lack of a close mic, all to prevalent today. I agree that the orchestra needs better management during Kaufmann's softer parts.
It is a very poor performance. Unclear conduct and orchestra And the player whose eyes are fixed on the sheet music. He seems to be digging too busy schedule.
doing lots of pianisimi , cresendi and diminuendi doesn't make for a musical performance ,,,,, Mr Kaufman is applying all the right devices but in the wrong places,,,,, or maybe he's just uninspired by the aria and is doing something just to show that he can do it, ,,,,,,, I'm sorry but that is not what good musicianship should do. this is the least convincing interpretation of this aria I've ever heard. simply disappointing
Thank you. There is nobody better these days and he is also so gorgeous.
Thank you, Glenn Camillus Wong, for posting this unusual aria - I didn't know JK sang a MacDuff aria. Beautiful!
Thank you for uploading this. Memories of a wonderful evening with the great pleasure of hearing this superb young man. Bravo Jonas. Nurture that wonderful voice.
Heavenly - so moving... could listen ( and watch!!) again and again ! ❤❤❤
Gyönyörű opera , gyönyörű hang !
Excelente. Bravo Sr. Kaufmann !
Oh dio - how stunning and touching.
Gewoon zalig mooi ,zo perfect!
Simply sublime ! I was there and it was a great concert - you get a hint of the audience enthusiasm at the end ! Jonas has no equal as far as I'm concerned, among current tenors.

Love this! though I love the look that Kaufmann gives the conductor when he slips that one note.
Thank you, Jarrod. Very kind.
Gorgeous aria, beautiful opera. Verdi rewrote this three or four times. Boy did he get it right. Kaufmann, bravo, bravo.
Outstanding!!!!!
Magnifica aria, voce incomparabile piena di fascino e di intelligenza interpretativa!
So stunning,so glorious to listen to this beautiful and gorgeous voice, incomparable,I will never stop listening to his arias, such a beautiful man to boot 3:23
Felicidades 👏 👏
Thank you for uploading again. Great reminder of the night. Can't imagine why you had to take this down while the other clip still remains, ridiculous and a bit silly on the orchestra's part. He was superb and a pleasure to see again. x
Primer aria en concierto difícil, bravo jkaufmann
I want to sing just like him!
Why is he doing piano in the most dramatic part of the aria?🤨
Fantastica ,Esplendida Voz .Gran interprete Verdiano .Bravo JONAS KAUFMANN .ELMEJOR.
AHHHHHHHH OJALA TODOS PENSARAN ASI.. Y TODAS LAS ORQUESTAS LO HICIERAN..... SERIA MARAVILLOSO....
Großartig 😮
Bravo 🎼🌷🌷🌷🌷🎼
Very suitable role!!
I have to wonder if he knows what the character is saying ,,,,,,, this is unrecognizable ,,,,,,,, how bizarre .............
Bellissima voce, incantevole! Pagina di musica stupenda.
Oh my God, that transition into the head voice -- is there anything he can't do? Who is his teacher, who managed to get this superb voice out of that gorgeous creature?

Magnifique !! ❤️❤️❤️
Superbe que dire de plus

Welche Drigieren ist das :))))?
What was the orchestra doing? It almost fell apart in the first bar after the recit at 1':10"
that's because he missed the entrance.
No, Kaufmann nearly missed the entrance because the orchestra was in a total mess.
+Tenorgeiger nope. I've sung this aria many times. he just blanked for a moment and came in 2 beats late.
I have sung it too, and at other times played violin in the orchestral accompaniment. Get the music and follow it. Listen carefully. The orchestra gives no pulse for the first two quarter notes. non trovi ''pericolosa'' quest'idea tua ?...
in poche parole :
Bravissimo. Commovente.
This is Macbeth s opera :)
I'm curious as to what technique he sings with so as to produce a baritone timbre in the tenor range, AND not cause his voice major, major damage.
That's normal technique Sir because that's the same way Caruso more or less sang. A true dramatic tenor ALWAYS has baritone tembre. The rest is just a matter of taste.

I'm in total agreement with you. We can also add Del Monaco to that list.

Maravilloso, perfecto, extraordinario.
that's because he missed the entrance.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is this opera?
Great...bravooo Jonas...
I'm personally just enjoying the lack of a close mic, all to prevalent today.
I agree that the orchestra needs better management during Kaufmann's softer parts.
...Ma chi è il direttore d'orchestra?
It is Jochen Rieder.
Uff!
Genial maestro
Too slow the tempo.
finale errato poco professionale, interpretazione mediocre lontano dallo stile italiano.
non mi piace affatto.
It is a very poor performance.

Bring back del monaco
Listen to Bergonzi sing this aria.
Bravo tenore!
Nicola Manca
bravo ''compositore'' ...
Macbeth

Fantastica voz! Sigue siendo un hortera en su estilo.

Vkn bgtrre
penoso.
horrible!!
He's a little too much Artsy Fartsy for my taste.
Can you explain? I'm curious.
Love Music
orribile e come .
Not horrible.. but very very strange and suspicious singing and enterpretation 😅
entra un compás después el muy sordo
Glorious !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
