Two things: one, darn, I caught up with your newest video right now, no more watching ten videos in one go anymore... two, I find it amazing how you can turn a nondescript scull into a real interesting and characteristic face with such a small amount of clay. Truly truly awesome :) Thank you for sharing.
I am just starting sculpture and I have surfing the web looking for good people I can kind of apprentice myself to. I am so impressed with your sculptures. I remember when in the 70's I saw a couple somewhere and (I was a kid) I said to myself I want to do that! Thanks so much for your videos..they are the only way I can learn from a master! ;o)
Oooo this is gonna be good David! Even with just the posture and face, you can tell he's gonna have lots of character. It's clear why the TruForm armatures are so helpful.
Is really sad about Boston. and all kinds of violence in the world actually. at times it seems that humanity instead of going forward does the opposite. But as you say, we have to do our work and hope that the people responsible for catch those responsible do theirs. Very good modeling time, as always thanks for sharing internet sites about the materials used
Where can I get that Armature structure contraption you have there - with the upright & the adjustable angle device, etc.!? I only know about using steel plumbing pipes & such! Also, I've been wondering about how much clay to buy & which hardness. So far, I have 8 lbs of the Cream colored ( personal preference ) Le Beau Touche'. By the previous video of your's that I watched ( Mt. Man Demo using the High Melt clay ) it appears to me that I may not need to be as concerned as I thought about the harder clays being workable for me. I'm working on a series of "Eagles of the World" & just received a Grant for some supplies & equipment. I'm getting some books & other things to help me out with the sculpting, as well as some 2D stuff. I'm considering which clay to choose to add to what I already have & since a 1/4 case or more is less expensive, I want to get it that way rather than by the individual 2lb blocks! How does the J-Mac you use compare to Chavant in both cost & workability?
You probably can't get the armatures... anymore.. Contact sculpturedepot.net They have them sometimes.. They also have the supporting, adjustable support.. Karen's husband, she's the owner of Sculpture Depot, designed one like but better than that shown in this video. Sculpture Depot can give you invaluable advise.. just tell them I sent you. I like the J-Mac soft ... but it's up to your taste... Good luck..
Anny Reuter I live in Montana.. It's located in the north west of the USA... I live in a very small town in the Madison Valley between two mountain ranges.. Unlike where you live.. This town started in the 1860..... Would love to visit your area someday.. but as it's going.. probably won't get that chance.. lol
Hi David, I am so in love with the US and just like you, I'll never get the chance to visit your beautiful country :( Do you believe me when I say I don't go out much and I don't know much of my little town?! But tell me? What do you mean by saying "as it's going..." you'll probably never get a chance to visit Europe?!
Anny Reuter Getting old... and the art just ain't selling.. so no cash for that kind of travel... I'll be 69 in October.. lol I mean there comes a time that even your bucket list becomes just a dream..:) Why don't you get out? You should you know...
Very cute their work sir. I have a question. What is mateiral you occupy for his sculptures?, Is ceramic, clay, play dough? I see it air dry, and not going to cooking in the oven. From already thank you for your response

Boston, it's so tragic. So many lives ended and ruined, again. On the other hand, somehow the other 5 bombs didn't go off as planned, so there were also many lucky people in Boston that day. But it's all so random. : (
is there any cheaper choicer available on the net? I live in Norway, so..the supplies here are quite limited. i am currently working on a ball jointed doll and really could use some advice on how to do a dolls head. i hate this part on moddeling. I just can't seem to get it right. so if you have any advice on where i could buy headsculls to an affordable price, i would be so happy! Btw. your work is inspiring and you are truly a gifted artist.
I went to a big toy store, when I had to create a small baby for a sculpture I was working on... I got one of the life like ones.. and it really helped with proportions..as I worked on the piece.. this could be a good reference source.
Bug eyed? I actually had to go and look that one up... but no, no bug eyes, my eyes just popped right out of my scull and are rolling around on the floor somewhere around here :P
Just peel it off... It never hardens.. But then you'll spend hours digging out the latex rubber, left over from the rubber molding.. It gets into ever little crack and hole.. and fills the clay .. so your sckulptin away with it.. you get a piece of latex.. right where the nose is.. and you have to pick it out.. I just throw the dang clay away.. it's so time consumin.. I just figure my times worth more than the clay costs..
Hi David, do you sculpt for pay? I have some fantasy images I would like sculpted. More less heads and bat wings kind of things. Please let me know, and I can shoot you a few pics of what I need. Thanks much, Pat P.S. How do I communicate with you verses youtube?
I use a none drying and none hardening clay. It's called J-Mac. I have a link to where you can see it in my video description below the video. I have a rubber mold made of the clay and they I do the lost wax method of casting it into bronze at a foundry.
David Lemon thank you so much David. I have never done sculptures before but after watching almost all your videos I feel like starting to sculpt. You are an inspiration for everybody. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and encouraging us to do something good.
rasangalk I just got off the phone with Payne, he's the owner of TruForm. He said, just contact them through their website, let him know what you want.. They don't send the board for the mounting of the armature, but they send everything else. The board doubles the shipping cost. You can get your own board. He'll figure out the shipping and then you decide if you can do it. Good luck sir. Let me know if you need more help
David Lemon Oh.. I do have DVDs on sculpting, and two of them deal with TruForm Armatures. Just finished my 4th DVD. and Second TruForm video. Just add this link to TH-cam's watch?v=WCPdjys_Opo

Hey David. I wanted to purchase armatures but they don't ship to Singapore. What should I do? There's no place to buy armatures like that here. :(
