Thank you so very much for this great anatomy lesson. I'm studying for digital sculpting/painting and it was amazing for me to see that in traditional sculpting too it's worth it and you didn't consider it a waste of time to build from the bottom up, ribs and muscles and only then skin. Thank you very much! I think after this video i'll finally remember those 3 muscles coming onto the chest :D
Marcelo.
Another great video, thanks for the inspiration I'm just beginning to work with Newplast from Newclay it's a Plasticine type clay, getting things smooth is the tricky bit :)
try a professional artist's oil painting brush, small or large, up to you.. and regular lighter fluid.. on the surface of the clay.. somehow the fluid melts the clay's surface just enough that the brush will smooth it. Not sure if that would work on your Plasticine.. but it does on mine.
You know, it's a real pleasure watching you work and listening to you explain what you are doing. Your obvious sculpting skills, plus your voice, make for 'easy' learning / listening video. Thank you for your insights. Are you sponsored and/or are your videos supported by your sponsors? (Poor hobbiest sculptor at the moment...about only thing I can afford to pay - are compliments.)
Liking the look of this so far. Been looking over Bad Hand's book. Great reference and loaded with ideas for future projects. Thanks for having the link posted. Is the 18inch figure your favorite size for projects? JIM
I'm back at making my own armatures.. I don't use TruForm anymore because you can't get them. I have several instructional DVDs that show how you can make your own armatures for both humans and horses.. As far as the sculpting stand. The one I use was made for me 40 years ago by an artist friend who's since passed away... You can get sculpting stands and wire armatures from sculpturedepot.net as well as clay. I use J-Mac medium grade clay..
Most excellent work, Mr. Lemon. But it's evident that you are no spring chicken and I fear that true artisans like yourself will be a thing of the past. It seems that no young people are growing into amazing craft trades and arts that require years of skills, and can perform such labors with hand tools. It all digital painting and CNC machining, along with cheap horseshit made in China resin replicas. The future is going to be very scary and brief if we cannot find artisans to replace the great ones like yourself.
No no.. you'd be amazed at the young talent in this world... Look up Alex Oliver.. He's a friend of mine on Face Book... google him and look at images of his work.. I'm always humbled by his talent. I wish I could name more young people who are just astoundingly better than myself... The future, yeah, Z-Brush is dominating... but people who wet their taste with that program watch my videos.. and they want to get into clay.. so don't be so down.. as long as people are born with the ability.. there will be artists.

I think ol' Joe needs to eat lots more of Cooky's bacon! Wonderful to watch!
É 18 centímetros de altura .. provavelmente, um terceiro tamanho natural ..
Could you let me know where to purchase the sculpting stand you are using? Truform no longer makes them! Can you recommend one?

Descent art, obvious deplorable comment.
