As a non-believer, I 100% agree with Garret. Religion is not the problem, we are.

The man is a straight up instrument of God. I wish everyone could comprehend Christianity like Garrett.

The amount of thought that went into not just the music and the lyrics, but the whole aesthetic of the album is astounding. I love this band.

i will never understand how a man as intelligent, kind and beautiful as him chose the path of being in a metalcore band - steadily rising in popularity, yes, but we all know they will never be as big as taylor swift, and as a result their influence will never be as big as hers. i mean he could have been a scholar. a teacher. i know for a fact that he could damn well write some kickass books, from the lyrics he wrote. just... why dude. why.
but like. i'm also grateful that i discovered silent planet because otherwise i wouldn't have any access to this thought-provoking concept of religion, of christianity, of what it means to follow god. thanks for making me learn things.

He does metalcore because it's his passion. Its not about the money. He said a lot of times that he and his band are basically poor and stuff along those lines. They do it cause they love it.

Are you kidding me? Metalcore is THE perfect way to express his thoughts. when you scream out words, the most emotional impact is radiated out. it's more meaningful

+sEEKllsevN Definitely. My friend who hates the genre loves this band because of the lyrics and the passion. These lyrics couldn't work in any other way, honestly haha

Garrett, you speak so beautifully. I wish I had your exact vernacular. Thank you and the rest of Silent Planet for being the people that you are and offering the vital messages that you have been giving us so creatively through your music and art.

I’m a Christian, grew up very Christian… made a lot of mistakes and didn’t follow the rules of the Bible. I see a lot of Christian’s being selfish and not trying to see their way through Gods own eyes. I feel as if a lot of Christian’s have put me down because I had not conformed to everything that could “make a Christian”. My thing is, my own experience with God was him coming into my own life and spirit. Him coming into my life and fixing the things that were broken in the moment when I would just pray on my knees. I don’t have to be someone I’m not, I don’t have to do what everyone else does because they claim that is what God wanted. If my personal life has connected so deeply with God in every situation in life, then nothing else should be of a negative matter to me. It pains me a lot for people to hurt the journey of someone they don’t even know because it doesn’t go about their “societal guidelines”. It is the people that make this journey so painful, because God never spoke a negative word towards us. I feel as if you or anyone are on their own journey with Christ, nobody should add the toxicity or a certain notion to it without understanding the people’s own personal connection to him. It is all about God and his personal struggle and journey in the end

I feel like he didn't really talk a whole lot about the song itself, other than a couple of lyrical references. What he did talk about was awesome and all but I honestly would have preferred it if he went through the verses describing the meaning behind them.

I don't think Garrett wants to spoon feed you all. I truly think this is just contextual for you to all understand where he's coming from and what initially sparked the meaning behind each song.

+cayeminterviews Fair enough, leaving room for the listener to interpret is a completely legitimate way to go about describing your art. I've just found so many verses in this album that make me comically shake my fists to the sky crying "what does it meeeean!!??!?"
It's a phenomenal album either way and I appreciate Garrett taking the time to let us pick his brain about it a little.
