I ended up purchasing one of those Rostra wiring harnesses for mine ,as my temp sensor fluctuates wildly. I know its the harness , hit a bump and the temp changes. Or after giving it a bath under the hood it reads ok for a day or so. They say its an upgrade over the original ribbon cable style. Its the original harness ,i probably touched it or breathed on it while installing an auxiliary trans cooler. Anyways,if the harness breaks i guess im fishing pieces out if the connectors. Ill be careful, but i always expect the worst, is there much risk of breaking tabs or anything that the harness connectors go into?
Thanks for the video, very helpful! Quick question: Do you have a video showing how to remove and replace the solenoids? Also, am I better off replacing the valvebody with a remanufactured unit with new solenoids?
You dont need a video on replacing solenoids. Its easy. Dont replace VB if you need solenoids. Just do the solenoids. Get VB if you need one in the following link. kansascitytdi.com/01m-valve-body-repair/
I’ve got a laggy upside to 4th. Would a solenoid be a likely culprit? I’m getting only one codes, one for shift lock solenoid that I bypassed for a short to ground. I wouldn’t think that would cause the shifting issue.
Impossible to diagnose. Your gonna have to take it to someone. Of course they will probably tell you it needs trans replacement whether that is the case or not.
Right, I think I see what I did wrong. I replaced this cable (it was broken in a magnificent way right at the 12 pin connector, the insulation right at the connector seem to have degraded to the point that the wires were shorting) along with some solenoids that showed unusually high resistance. I did not know the connectors are this fragile. After replacing the wire the tcm reported an open circuit on EV7. Looking at the cable I took out, the plug that goes into EV7 is missing a bit of plastic. Is it possible that there is a bit of the old connector still stuck in the plug of the valve and the new cable isn't making a good connection because of it? That would certainly be embarrassing...
hello, I am a subscriber to your youtube channel and I have a 01m Ag4 gearbox in my seat toledo 1.8 2000 model vehicle. I watch all your videos about the gearbox with interest. I would like to ask you a few questions, I would be very happy if you could help. 1- Should there be 4 balls or 3 balls other than the spring ball in the valve body, some of the videos show 4 balls and some of them 3 balls. While the location of the balls is shown in the service manual, there is a note that there should be only one in the bottom note, can you save me from this mess. Sen gönderdin 2-How many degrees should a good line pressure test be and what should be at P,R,N,D idle and at a certain speed, if any.
there are early ones that take 3 balls (other than the other one with the spring), but almost all of the later ones take 4 balls. Your gonna have to see a shop manual for line pressure.

@@CoolAirVw that was my thought as well. They won’t “repair”, just condemn and replace. Well, I appreciate the response nonetheless. Thanks.
@@Smokey0210 I love that term! Condemn and replace. You might hear that in a upcoming video

Here's the old connector (I removed the outer insulation because I was curious of what was going on with it):
