Love Andrew no matter what. He was always saying that he is not responsible for the gothic style and music and he didn't give a crap what we think. He produced one of the best albums in the history of music as we know it and he knew that he cannot make anything better than that. This is why he didn't even try. The rest of us who grew up with his music from the very beginning get to hear it over and over with freshness every time even after 30 years or so.
Just like siouxsie and the banshees, they said that the banshees are not "gothic" good for them standing their ground. Somewhere sometime Andrew said the sisters of Mercy are a rock and roll machine😎
I'm 41 and I grew up listening to them. They are THE one band I can listen to now and will never ever tire of hearing their songs. Their artistry I find to be far superior to anything else in the late 80's and 90's, and so many have wished to hear new stuff as well.
Loved SoM back in the 80s. Went to Leeds Uni, & saw Eldritch live at the Refectory. Still treasure the bootleg cassettes of their earliest covers - Jolene, Teachers, Gimme gimme gimme etc. Wish these guys all the best.👍
"...And that´s when I reach for my revolver" My favorite part haha XD I LOVE how Andrew is so "Talkative" and "Social", actually many other artists should be like him. Just say whatever they want, how much they want, and just be spontaneous, you know? It´s more than enough!
@@MaraHefnerYeah, it is kind of her one and only job, but i still feel bad for her. Between the band being such imposing figures, and her struggling with her english (definitely still having to translate in her head), i think she had exceeded her neural load lol. People often think I'm rude, which horrifies me because what's really happening is that my autistic brain gets overloaded and i miss what people say, i then panic and say what i think they want me to say. It's usually the wrong thing. You just never know what people are masking.
Would love to see you up in Manchester Andrew, I have the greatest respect for you and your music. Got fond memories of the mid 80's while I was at uni as a mature student. Not heard any of your new stuff, but that's partly due to being house bound after some idiot broke my back while I was cycling to work (trying to keep myself fit). Loved this interview. Hope the future is bright and you keep on playing. Would love to get hold of some recent music of yours as it is very difficult to travel to concerts.
Remember how I adored Sisters 20+ years ago... Still like them. Saw them once in SF, but they just don't sound live to me, and they never did. To me, it's a studio band, but they are not there anymore.
Agora se eu vou no show..... Claro que vou !!!! Meio magoada mais vou rsrsrs.
Good Mission of Burma pun for AE. That’s When I reach for my revolver…that’s when it all gets blown away. For the youngins. Mission of Burma was a 80s ‘punk band’ w Roger Miller lead singer
First time I saw these guys was in a little hole in the wall club in San Francisco in 1983 and there had to be maybe forty people there that night, but I've loved Sister's ever since and still love to see them. I don't know why she would say they've become mainstream, I don't think they could ever be considered mainstream. One thing I do hope for them is that they record some of the stuff they've been doing only at their live gigs, especially war on drugs I wish they would but that to digital.
Sensacional a entrevista! =P
I owe ANDREW my good music taste. In the 80's if I didn't get introduced to Sisters I'd still be listening to Pink Floyd. Where are the original members? And why no tours in Canada? I love it that age 63 and Andrew still doesnt use voice enhancer box
I LOVE Andrew! I'm the man who is responsible for selling him his yellow Puffa jackets & white hoodies since 1994. I also introduced him to Industrial JUMPSTEP STYLE. Wait till you hear his new material in 2014, total Industrial JUMPSTEP STYLE!!! Get on HIS level!!!
0:46 Ele disse "Andrew, I do the singing, most of it." (Sou Andrew, eu faço o cantar, a maioria). A pessoa que fez a legenda achou que ele disse "Andrew, I do the same." (Sou Andrew, eu faço a mesma coisa). Cumprimentos dos EUA
And why do you still get work Andrew? Its called nostalgia... so dont say history of the band doesnt matter cos it fukin does..if you want to keep paying your bills that is :)
Haha I suspect Eldritch briefed his new team on what to say. It's entirely understandable with these journalist twats. I've good memories of Floodland in my early twenties, then discovering the back catalogue.. Good memories? Fuck, they're goddam treasured memories. I have nothing but admiration and respect for you Andrew (For what it's worth)
I always thought it strange the Icons of Goth - Andrew Eldritch , Peter Murphy , Robert Smith , Souxie Sue all say they are not Goth and those considering themselves Goth have their music considered Industrial or metal
It’s ironic actually, because those days Eldritch and the others cared soo much about labels, and changed to a more rock n roll image and sound, just so they’ d not be called gothic, and everything looked too mainstream. I think that the best quality they had was their raw, underground, more alternative sound. When u get big and too famous (that’s about the time when I got to know them) it looked so arrogant. I still loved their originality. But listening to old stuff, their first albums were the best! Still, I can’t called it rock n roll till today. They are unique though their own way. Doesn’t matter if it’s gothic or not. Still… black clothes, the poetic lyrics, the bass, the drum machine, ok not gothic definitely.
Ok so his hands were tied by Warner Bros in the nineties, but great bands make records and sell albums! I love The Sisters since 1985 but the joke wears thin after 12 years plus of no new releases 😢 🖤
Warner Bothers / Electra recording contract basically locked them out of releasing new material AE released SSD to finish his contractual obligations, but it seems that it was a bit more complicated than that… 😢
who the fuck are these young guys?? you're 47
Now you are 48!
Does this guy permanently have sunglasses glued to his head. I don't think I ever saw him without a pair.
lol...I know!!
That's what real Rock-stars do; it can be very disappointing to see people's eyes after so long of not..
I've seen a few photos of him without shades on and he's an odd looking fellow.
@Lesley Wynter I'm pretty sure he no longer has a soul
Would you want to?

I would like to tell you members of the Sisters of Mercy, your music is phenomenal. I have never heard such originality. Unbelievable!!!
I was in that show! Awesome! Queremos o Sisters de volta ao Brasil!

Andrew is still flaming hot. Love that man.
200 million Brazilians, and they couldn't find someone better to interview this legend.
Couldn't agree more, shame😑
They said "who wants to interview Andrew Eldritch?" and there was just an empty room and the door flapping in the breeze.
True
Yea but she is hot.
I think I like the Sisters of Mercy in 1985 more than the present model. Andrew Eldritch in 1985 is absolutely perfect.
literally a second after they introduced themselves she adresses them as 'andrew and guys' and ben makes the saltiest face i'm wheezing
I didn't catch that lol
No but in the end of the day it is Andrew his band dude. He is the Sisters
@@keesvanharen9791 i get that. but she could've still had the decency to remember their names 0.1 seconds after they introduced themselves hahaha
@keesvanharen9791 and Gary Marx the founder of The Sisters of Mercy.

Is that Walter White?
Rob Halford. Or Papa Emeritus. I'm so confused....

Walter White no vocal do Sisters of Mercy ;)

So you meet at the supermarket lol
He lives abroad...

So he did actually move back to leeds? does he have a girlfriend?
When you went round to borrow a cup of sugar, his door was open wide.
yes it is because sisters of mercy is actually just andrew eldritch other members are basically just session mucisians
I know! How can they call themselves THE SISTERS OF MERCY?? It's Andrew only!

Andrew looks JUST like the dude who plays Walter white in breaking bad lol
That's not Andrew, this is the Heisenberg
Eldritch looks like a drug dealing dad who disapproves of his sons' career in music but sits there reluctantly so they dont say the wrong thing
lmao the accuracy and universality of this comment

Andrew is Like a new Human. Not Compared to the 80s 90s
@ peloquin - Lol, so true. Was thinking the same thing! He must have sunglasses welded to his head permanently. Lol.
I get the impression that Chris Catalyst generally doesn't like the opinions of Ben Christo.
How boring the question about the new album! Every single interview contains it.
Which year is this from?
Andrew Eldritch looks like he’d be the best meth cook in the world
This is NOT Sisters of Mercy
it is this particular week lol
The rest of the power this band has 1980.
I was just thinking this very thing......This is definitely not SoM...Dok/Eldritch/Gunn/Marx/Adams best lineup 🖤

I understand why Andrew Eldritch don’t love touring .
Does anyone know why they won’t record their new material?
So they are contractually not allowed to record and produce their own music?
he doesn't want to. i think that's why catalyst left.
He knows it's too late, the horse has bolted.

Bem isso! 😂
In this vid its clear Andrew shaved his hair not because he is losing them but because he didnt like the goth label.
Exactly. Many artists including siouxsie and the banshees were against the goth label.
nice!!!

It's a shame, watching this n mid-2021. The band seems cool, but defensive. I wish they just wrote tunes.
They are a bit reserved but that's andrew
I would call Sisters Of Mercy more a project as a band.
Brilliant Andrew Eldritch is lost to us, too proud to go commercial.
So sad.
So much of a live band their drums and bass are programmed
They sound like shit without a bass player.
Ghuleh… Ghuleh…
afro208 for sure?
yup, both guitarists.
Ah okay. Wonder what happened to the drummer they had in April. There's a new drummer playing in the US tour.
yeah players have other band and work commitments so they'll come and go.. New guy is Aussie session player.
Is Andrew shy, disinterested or autistic? He seems a lot better these days.
ANDREW IS GOD
Kkk ele ñ tava suportamdo 😂😂😂
