I don't like playing horror games but I feel like buying this game just to support the devs. It's rare to see such passion and care about creating a video game nowadays when most creators tend to talk about graphics and thousands of customization options instead of how they crafted gameplay and what problems they fought during the process.

The audio production is really good on CP, but more immediate to the player and the action sequences. Dead Space had a truly terrifying cacophony of industrial noise terror in certain zones of the ship! The spacial composition of reverberation by enormous equipment operating in massive interior spaces was rendered with perfection! The meteorite mining room (amongst others) in my home theater was so visceral it actually triggered fight-or-flight reactions to teenage children and adult players!
Also the zero-g compartments in Dead Space captured a certain magical balance of muted and accentuated sound signatures. It really (maybe not in accurate terms) conveyed the sense of being in that environment! Quite frankly, I would personally attribute 75% of the legendary status of OG Dead Space to the sound design/engineering team! 💯

I really hope *The Callisto Protocol* is good, and if it is, sells really well, because I want to see _Striking Distance_ go far. I like Glenn Schofield and it sucks for him that he lost his baby, *Dead Space* because EA owns the rights to it; but I think *The Callisto Protocol* can do even better. It may not be the lightning in a bottle like with *Dead Space,* but I think it'll still be one of the best horror games we'll experience on next generation hardware, next to *Resident Evil 4 Remake* and possibly *Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill: Townfall.*
I know the process to making a game, especially now-a-days is very hard and very expensive, but Glenn Schofield is so passionate and has such a dark creative mind, he and everyone at _Striking Distance_ deserves this to be their first big break since *Dead Space.*

I was visualizing a hexagonal mixing environment for 5.1 there. I seriously love this stuff. Picking-up on the terms-of the “tell” and so-on. I wonder how much audio data can be flung-into projects like these when the mainstream advancements in gaming tech usually lean-on graphics and processing speeds before anything else to do with sound design.

I think a story telling single player game can focuse more on graphics than sounds and get away with it.
Sounds plays a much more important role in a horror game than anywhere else.

Buying this no doubt. Want a new experience and the fact these devs care so much is enough to buy it in itself

(0:31) I love his little "cave" office. 😜 Seriously though, you can see he's got nice acoustical paneling and angled "bass traps" in the corners. I wish I could see what monitor speakers he's using. He's clearly got three in the front (left/center/right channels), but I wonder if he has surround channels, as well. I'm pretty sure he has a subwoofer somewhere, too, so he can accurately reproduce those sweet low notes/sounds. I also wish I could see what amplifiers and mixing/switching/preamplifier equipment he's using, too. Anybody know if that information is out there? At any rate, I like his clean setup. At least, what I can see of it, that is. 😉

So happy to see the really dedicated game devs getting the upper hand nowadays! These guys are legendary, like the god of war devs and the boys from horizon

You can forget Horizon. They decided Elden Ring was too big for them to contain their jealousy. Throwing Twitter tantrums isn't "dedicated" in my book
