    That answers my question in the first 30 seconds. Thanks no one else has mentioned this. You have to apply for a federal tax stamp and additional background checks.

    I really really appreciate this video. I’m looking to get the Maxim and I like the compare and contrast. I have a Glock 19 and was debating on suppressor or Maxim. It’s a tough choice, on one hand a 9mm suppressor is a good options purchase and the Maxim is an all in one purchase. But man oh man is it so very cool to look. Thanks again for the video. It was more helpful than you know.

    Yeah you want that lower tone in the fire report because low frequency dissipates beyond human range very quickly compared to the higher tones, the canned glock’s report fills that room where as the Maxim fills just the area the marksman is in rather than the room.

    You forgot to mention the fact, with the Maxim 9 you don’t have to worry about the Silencer backing off:)

    I know this video is old, but the information is timeless! Thank you for an informative, detailed comparison.
    I may get a maxim in the future, but current plan is to build. 4” can that could be concealed separately and quickly connected with a griffin cam-lok.

      Appreciate the comment. Maxim is still going strong btw. Have shot it in dozens of USPSA and 2gun matches over the years.

      @@astrodudepsu please do go on. I shoot USPSA and 3gun. Would this gun put me in open division?
      If not, then maybe i could throw my SRO on it for carry optic. The red dot should stay on target making shot calls easier?
      What holster do you use for USPSA?
      How reliable is this gun for competition? Do you get a lot of jams?

      Its an Open gun sadly. And that trigger makes it not a great open gun, but its really fun to shoot on the clock. My sponsor Sterling Arsenal had a custom holster made by a local company. The ones SiCo sells (at least at the time) didnt support a dot. I use it in the 'short' configuration so its a bit easier to draw and holster.
      Honestly though its just fun. And it breaks up the seriousness of some local matches when you show up with a meme gun. I shoot PCC, so people already talk shit as it is, might as well clown back.
      There should be a few videos on the channel of me shooting it, mainly in 2gun.
      Yes the dot being fixed makes shot calls very easy. The slide is kind of slow, so you can't really split it super fast anyway. I tried the trigger spring kit, but it didn't like my competition loads/primers.

      @jamesm5192 it seems that way yes. I'm not sure how well they actually sold, I don't really see them for sale much these days. It will probably end up on Forgotten Weapons in the future.

    Not to mention, your optic isn't reciprocating. Big plus there. And the Maxim is a fixed barrel so probably more accurate. I'm still waiting on my Maxim stamp and already thinking about a second.

    I dropped a like for you, however, why include the price? The way you made it sound was basically saying that hey they basically cost the same and the Maxim is better. But IMO, its redundant because if you bought the can separate you can use the can on multiple weapons. Even more so if you bought a multi cal. can. But hey, good video.

    MOS Glocks do not have threaded barrels. You need to buy aftermarket MOS or not.
    MOS includes all adapter plates for reflex sights. Nothing extra to buy.

    • @astrodudepsu
      @astrodudepsu  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep, and the need for a barrel either way makes the Glock an even worse value proposition. Non-MOS glocks need slide work, and MOS glocks will cost about as much as a premium.

      astrodudepsu I'm interested in snagging one (available at my local gun shop) but I interested in the reliability. If you run a reliability video I'll be watching. :)
      I shoot USPSA regularly and go through 2-3k rounds a month. I think it would be hilarious and fun to shoot this with a dot in Open.

    • @astrodudepsu
      @astrodudepsu  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've got over 900 rounds through it as of today (i've had it on my 07/02 since July). I've had 1 FTFire and 1 FTFeed, both Freedom reloads. And I've shot it in a match. The CED7000's pick them up just fine, even with 147s. I'm going to be shooting it in Open (minor lol) all of next year, at matches that don't allow PCC or matches where I can shoot AM/PM.

    • @redsdot
      @redsdot 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome. Post some vids. When you do shoot it in Open Minor (My plan for giggles). I'm gonna sub just for that. :)

    • @astrodudepsu
      @astrodudepsu  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are 2 on the channel. It's first and third person footage of the same match. I don't have a holster yet ( the SiCo ones are not cut for RMR) so I cant shoot it in every match. As it happens I'm a match director here in Area 8, so I designed a match with all table starts so I could use it. Worked great.

    I belive if you put a p226 against the maximum 9 the p226 could pssoible match the recoil and ammo

  • @zenopssmdk
    @zenopssmdk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Huh I didn't know the value difference between a Glock and the Maxim 9, good to know. In your personal opinion if you went out with friends to shoot cans or what ever, is the Maxim 9 more... for the lack of better words, is it more casual to use since you don't actively need hearing protection especially with sub sonic rounds?
    Also are iron sights doable or is it a type of gun where you'd strongly recommend a sight to use with it?

    • @astrodudepsu
      @astrodudepsu  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'll say this much, whenever I go shooting, I always bring the Maxim9. Experienced shooters just want to shoot it, and newbies take to it quickly because it's not loud and the recoil is very mild. You also don't have to worry about re-tightening the can every mag or two.
      The iron sights are very usable. In fact, they use all Glock sights, so you can get whatever you want. I threw the RMR on there because Cabela's was blowing out older RMR's for a really good price. And because the sight is mounted on the fixed portion of the gun, you don't get the 'flicker' that can happen with RMR's on pistols.

    how does one acquire a maxim 9? I would love to get one

  • @blackopsaf3471
    @blackopsaf3471 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think that the Glock will win if you run a pistol as a true sidearm since it is shorter, less bulky and easier to carry. but given that you have to run a silencer all the time, a maxim with a custom Kydex holster will probably work better. So its really down to purpose. If I must choose one, I will go to the Glock since it gives you the option to go unsuppressed in exchange for a much shorter and easier to carry profile, but again, the maxim is a great gun nontherless

      @Michael Myers Seriously kid... what is wrong with you? This comment... is 3 years old and how exactly did he change the subject? Did you even read what he said? He literally said the maxim could be better in some situations, but he prefers the option to remove a suppressor. That is the subject... He also literally said "the maxim is a great gun nonetheless" How exactly does that make him a "glock fanboy?"

      @Michael Myers Borrow some intelligence and maturity... or are you a child? Come back when you know what you're talking about kiddo... First, this comment is a year old... Maxim 9 is an irrelevant pistol. Second, my comment has nothing to do with hands or grips and everything to do with overall size/weight in a holster. The maxim is 20% wider than pretty much all other polymer pistols. That is not grip width... it is maximum width.

    • @squirts1
      @squirts1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Michael Myers you're obviously not very intelligent or knowledgeable. Maybe you should stick with your Xbox kiddo. You clearly don't own a maxim 9 or you would be telling me how it feels and fits for you... Stop now... You're only making yourself look worse.

      astrodudepsu I understand the difference and this is why I’ve been doing form 1s and creating my own. I asked my dealer today and he told me he can get a maxim 9 next week but the form 4s are still taking 9mo-1year.
