I HAVE NEVER SEEN A LOCOMOTIVE OF THIS TYPE, WITH A DOUBLE CAB...(...being like this, with two cabins it is more practical, and it does not need a turn table to reverse its movement) EXCELLENT RECONSTRUCTION WORK!!! 👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍
Wow, I've been away from following railroading for some time. I remember these EMDs pulling the trains we road to visit my grandparents in the states back in the early 1960s. This particular rendition is unfamiliar to me...a unit with a cab at both ends. Fantastic!
oh, you should see NSWGR's 421 class... one bulldog nosed cab, and one flat-nosed cab! Interesting little locomotives those ones. I sometimes get to see leased units from heritage railways hauling track maintenance trains, and it's a wonderful experience!
Can’t wait to see B72 back on the tracks soon and great job get B72 fired up for the first time since 1986 welcome back to life B72 and awesome job SteamRail 👍
She's purring beautifully. Love the early 80s livery. Id like to see a set of N carriages preserved and renovated in this awesome livery. I went on a school excursion in 1982 to Traralgon for a prospective career tour of a power station with Swinburne Technical School on a train just like that. The streamliner design is so beautiful snd classic.
Is EMD, is good. Sounds like you have a tired injector or low compression on one pack about halfway down the right bank, once you get some warmth into her it might pick up. Lovely old engines, and that blower whine, noice.
Great video of the first "crank", pity they didn't show some sense for people's health and tow it out the shed or parked it under an exhaust vent in the shed to extract the toxic diesel fumes...Great engine room walk, well done.
Thankfully the roof has good ventilation and with airflow from the open doors doesn't smoke up the shed too much. Aside from that it is a good way to prevent the pigeons from depositing their droppings onto the other locos. The smoke generally clears up after a few minutes.
Congratulations on getting B72 fired up for the first time in years! It will be great to see it on mainline tours in the near future.
Good work Steamrail for bringing back B72 to life after 37 years.
congrats steamrail on this amazing milestone I look forward to overwatching the process of B72 being restored into its glory.

Great sound
Nice
It lives!!
The roar of those Roots blowers give these engines a sound all their own. Did they have to replace any power assemblies?
how is the ventilation in the building?
Took a little coaxing but got there
Am i the only one to see D3 639 at the front wearing the snow train headboard
Not the only one, would be interesting to see it on the years snow train. Imagine a triple header with R761, R711 @ D3 639
No
About time
She sure was sleepy, woke her up gently.
Steamrail: he's back. (B72)
Of course the engine has had a full rebuild after sitting for so long?
real
i looked at my diary and i fired and drove this loco several times before 1986 when i was an enginemen at south dynon loco
I think you should've tried that outdoors
That start was far too easy for an engine that hasn't run for 37 years! 😛 You must've sprayed a tonne of aerostart down its air intakes first! 😃
👍

Mosquito eradication, all good.
@@raygale4198 How about the workshop rats and cockroaches?
